Honestly, I hope TLR really appreciates what you bring to the RC industry and just how valuable of an asset you are to the team… love all of your content, not just an incredible driver but obviously a very talented photographer and all around individual. I’ve literally been going back and forth on which kit I should buy (the TLR Elite, or the AE) and just when I’m about to make the decision, I watch a video you put out and now(because of YOU) the decision was made and my elite kit is due to arrive tomorrow! Thank you for being the kind of person/professional for anyone who’s looking to get into this wonderful hobby and aspire one to follow in your footsteps… can’t thank you enough, appreciate all that you do and please continue to do what you have always done. I look forward to more content in the future.
I know this comment is a year old but it’s still relevant and I thought I’d add my 2 cents, from the perspective of a newcomer to RC racing. The primary thing that led me to going with TLR as a brand to start off in RC Racing came down almost solely to the amount of content and information that is available about their kits thanks to channels like Ryan’s. AE has a decent amount but nothing in comparison, and the other just fall shorter and shorter. It’s crazy to me that these companies sponsor all these drivers and spend all of this money in exchange for race reports and a hashtag on every social media post…that (to me) is worth next to nothing in this day and age. If these companies want to expand, they need to inspire confidence in consumers. I believe that there are many companies making great quality race kits, but the learning curve to set this kits up is a massive deterrent for someone like myself. Whereas if I need setup help for any TLR, it’s a simple google search away, and doesn’t require me to be well established in the RC community to learn all of the tricks to make it work well for me.
I couldn't agree more with both of what you guys have said about Ryan, TLR, and AE. I was a hobbyist 30 years ago, now looking towards racing minimum 2 classes possibly 3. I really like X-ray's offerings but little US suppliers and an almost non-existent aftermarket have kept me from purchasing X-ray 2wd and 4wd buggies and some on road variant (electric only, nitro is a mess). I am still back and forth on going all-in with the vehicles mainly because of where I live (San Francisco), there's literally one track 30-45 minutes away and that's it. Been watching Ryan for 3 years or so and really enjoy his content and you're absolutely right, he's an all-star with cinematography, editing, and talks. There's a ton of channels out there and they're pushing products or just not rubbing me the right way. Ryan's legit non-grifter type of channel is perfect. I genuinely hope he's okay. it's been too long since we had a video from him.
Im old school, had a xxt, with a nightmare 2 motor and sanyo 2000 mah batts, watched Ryan's videos and got back into the hobby!! Very thoroughly filmed presented and edited. Super informative! Keep up the good work Ryan! 👌
Ryan Harris I stop racing motocross and a friend got me into this RC thing and love it. My 1st buggy is the kyosho zx6 2 weeks later after buying my son a slash and the handling is quite different. What’s your opinion on kyosho?
Great... we drive the almost same electronics but same shock package and same rest...allways nice sound. Best Video quality....we wait for a new Video Mr Harris
I’m building a 8 Losey but I’m going to the tool drive you are awesome thank you for sharing your videos I truly enjoy Your videos you are help big-time thank you
So glad you made this video. I recently switched to TLR and got the 5.0 Elite as well and am in the middle of trying to figure out my setup. I was at Newred two weeks ago and saw you racing and definitely wanted to get my car to run more like yours, cause I was struggling, a lot. Overall it doesn’t feel at all like the B5m I came from but I like the 22 so much more, so now I have a very good place to start from and it’s all thanks to you! Love the vids, and hope to meet you next time I see you at newred or anywhere else!
Nice dude! Don't be afraid to ask me anything if I'm at the track. Super glad to help any way I can. Check the setup in the description to see where I was at setup wise that day 🤙
Another great vid. Picked up a 22x4 during this lockdown and can't wait to get it on the track. The build videos that you did with TLR were great and I used them during my build!
Came out to Supercup yesterday to watch and research what car would be good for me. Getting back into it after 30 years. Nice driving yesterday. Crushed the 2wd 🤘🏽
Hey Ryan, great videos. I’ve recently gotten back into the hobby and have applied a lot of what I’ve learned from you in my setups. I have searched through your videos and haven’t been able to find anything about the difference between standard and progressive springs. If you have done a video talking about this, could you please link it? If you haven’t, I think this would be a great topic for a future video or at the very least a clip in a future video.
Nice vid man! I have been a tlr fan for a few years and was stoked when ya made the switch. I have to say I have friends who run team ae that are bummed out lol. Thanks for putting out good content no matter what kit your running. Keep up the good work. People like you really make a difference in the hobby. Hope to get to the track soon!
Hey first off love your videos. Really like how you never tell us what to do but why you do it. Thank you for the great videos. When I was younger I always wanted a hobby car so I read all the magazines at my local library. Recently I noticed a traxxas car at the pawn shop and thought why not 140$ just got my taxes scratch it off the bucket list. Well now ive gotten bit by the rc bug(again) and need to race. Looking online I find several tracks near me that no longer exist and the nearest being over an hr away asking around local fb groups i did find a small track that a few guys go to at someones house nothing too special however. I got out there it was the most fun ive had in a long time(shit eating grin all day). Im really trying to scrape together what i need to be semi competitive still not sure if i can swing it by the end of the month when the season starts. I can race my rustler 4x4 and the gfs senton blx(and plan on it)but I really want a decent buggy So i am looking for suggestion on which kit I can understand your sponsored obligations so if you cant post here feel free to message me. The track is at Rick's hobby farm seems like a kinda loose dirt track but i also may end up in the twin cities on clay or carpet next year. I know you have been with AE and TLR. Im deciding on the base tlr kit which is the most feasible, the elite kit and maybe going with the AE team kit. Ive watched a lot of videos and it seems that the tlr base kit is just not very competitive. Im the type of person to find something i like and make it work and i dont like to change things much I like a consistent core. My issue is if i can only afford the base kit and build it properly as far as electronics ect idk if its gonna be a waste am i gonna be unhappy with the lower end kit and then when i go to upgrade (to a team or elite kit be like well I need new electronics too? I cant say i have excess money and would like to do it right or not at all. I get it this might be annoying ive watched all the videos i can find on comparing them usually it seems the AE wins just curisous if you see the elite or AE really being worth the extra 150$ and waiting or just getting the base and get out there with it.
If you go with TLR, get the Elite Kit. The extra $50 will come with most of the upgrades(approximately $200 worth) that you will eventually buy. I would stick with 17.5 class and you can buy a HW Justock combo(motor & esc) for about $100. As for the transmitter and receiver, Spektrum DX5C is a solid choice with a SR315 receiver. You do not need the Sanwa M17 or other high end transmitters like the pros use right now. You can probably find decent deals on FB market place too.
I feel you on the front wing for sure! I have an AE6.1D I put a front wing on.. completely changed the feel of the car! The steering response/front end bite was awesome. Never ran a top wing though.
All review vids should now require a 6 month review, this is awesome!! Great shoots as always bruv, can't wait to see you in New England later this year ;) !!!
Awesome video .... tlr don’t pay you enough man 😂 Picked up a new 5.0 Ac kit over the associated i had originally planned on getting after watching your channel
It is absolutely amazing how people don't realize how a driver can "feel" these minute changes that we make during a race and how we can translate that feeling to a positive OR negative response in the car REMOTELY
Great video. I enjoy hearing your perspective on things. Can’t wait to test and tune some of the things you have mentioned and see how it works for me.
I run on asphalt I love the wide front wing on my 4.0 sr and love the way the car drives has tons of turn in I like the front to be more responsive then the rear
You ever have trouble with mounting your transponder so close to your receiver? I "burned out" a Mylaps and was told that it was because it was too close to the receiver....
Ryan you sure do a good job with your video's, can you make a beginner video set up so we can make the car as easy as possible to drive on a indoor carpet track?
Hi Ryan, your Chanel is really good, i bought a RC10B6.1 last year and your channel has helped me out no end after getting back into the hobby after 16years out, with your tips and trick and maintenance videos have really helped me, i'm thinking about getting a B74 but not sure if they are going to release a new one just yet what do you think. whats the spec of your tool back in the background of your videos its looks a good size. always look forward to seeing your new videos
So I finally got my 5.0 A/C built and raced it last night. Ran the kit setup less the front wing because I just can't love the looks lol it felt amazing and handled very well. I will try the wing next weekend and see if I can tell any difference.... On a side note, have you had any problems with the front wheel pulling the entire spindle assembly through the spindle inserts? Lordy, No joke I was coming around a corner at low speed and barely tapped the board and it came out during my first few laps in warm up... Put it back together and then ran 2 heats with no problem and then in the main the other side did it 4 minutes into it while I was in the lead lol dang.
Hey Ryan, Im just getting back into the RC world after 18 year's. I based my build almost exactly as your current setup besides I went with the RC10 B6.2D. My question is why does the car feel like it doesnt have as much power as other 17.5 stock buggies. RC10B6.2D Trinity xFactor @51 from factory HW XeRUN10Pro Red series Protek RC160TBL powered by the Trinity 4000mah Extra HV battery.
Top job Ryan, l enjoy watching your videos and your non biased attitude, I'm thinking of getting the 22x4 once the funds are available, as I've seen a few people here in Australia lavitate toward this kit from the Associated B74 ( not that a race much or even non existent lol) but since they're now metric it's a go for me, keep up your excellent videos, stay safe 😀😉🤪💯👌👍👊 from the land down under
I enjoy your videos and this one was no exception. Could I trouble you for a link (or the manufacturers name) to the carbon fiber motor plate you have on your TLR 22 5.0?
Alright ik this might be an older video but I'm about to solder in my esc. Have you had any problems with your wires running over your battery. I want my car to be accessible and I'm wondering if it's a pain to get your battery out with the wire ran right over the battery.
Hi Ryan.... Love your videos. I am an old school RC racer and have recently gotten back into some oval racing and am considering going into Off-Road. The track I would be racing on is dirt and is a bit looser than most of the tracks I see you run on. I really like the buggies and would consider 2WD or 4WD. Do you have a TLR car that you would recommend for that type of track? Or are the Elites customizable enough for that style of track?
Hi, thanks for all the info, great content as usual. hopefully I will bump into you down at Mills Pond Park. I had a couple of questions regarding the M 17 radio I was confused between that and the Futaba 4PM, I'm just getting started I already have a 1/8 nitro Mugan MBX 4 from about 16 years ago that I never ran literally just started it on the starter box and never finished the project I think I have servos but I don't know I have to check it's been in storage I'm hoping everything still works.
Why did they discontinue the 22 5.0 AC? I bought one a year ago or so and never built it lol anyway, I was going to get another one so my daughter could build one with me and its discontinued 🤔 which kit replaced it?
Just getting started I’m a newbie, I have a tlr 22 5.0 kit I got used from a seasoned racer it’s his worn out car. It’s setup to aggressive and I can’t drive the car it’s just to much for me to be fast. What setup can I run to make the car easier to drive
Hello, I purchased the dc elite.1. For high bite carpet should I order the front and rear sway bars???? 2. Also Where is the best place to find the 2mm taller shock caps? Last question 3. , is a gear diff better for high bite tracks because they are more resilient and less prone to breaking?
Hi Ryan I just picked up the 5.0 AC and have ordered the G2 diff as compared to the composite gears that come with the kit. What are you running in your diff and what diff oil weight do you usually use? Oh yeah running on Carpet Astro. Great videos!
Great video Ryan, unfortunately, the link isn't working to your 2wd setup sheet. I just like to know the parts list for the shock package you use, like is it "exactly the same" as the 4.0 kit shock package or slightly different minus the springs ofc?
Awesome videos!!!! Thank you for all the help! Is there a reason you use the slipper instead of the direct drive for the 17.5? Have you noticed durability issues? Trying to decide :)
Thanks for the video been waiting for this one! Have you done anything specific for weight distribution and total weight? Thing builds so light I have to either use a big ol 5600mah battery, or a 4000mah lcg battery and a 50g brass weight to keep it over 1500g. Good problem to have but always curious where people like the weight. I'm leaning towards the big battery but the brass weight let's me put weight right over the rear axle. Sometimes one seems better than the other can't decide. Pretty high bite tight track
I'm no Ryan Harris but I prefer as light a car as possible. That let's me put the weight where it will do the most good (another tuning option, in otherwords).
Love all the informations and videos you are doing. (except live at 3am in France). Did you played with +2 and regular shock mount. Did you tried the light battery and compensate with the losi weight under it, it should lower the center of gravity. When you said diff tight what does it mean 1/2 o r3/4 of a turn?
Just curious I was wondering if some of the parts will work for the twenty two 4.0 I’m just starting my UA-cam and I’d love to feature it on my UA-cam soon love you’re videos man hope I get better at editing and filming soon your videos are really good. 👍
Hello from Australia. Thanks love your channel. Just got a 22 5.0dc. just getting into racing. Goal is to get to a point I can race 17.5 blinky. Running on out door clay/dirt. What is the recommended ride height/ how many mm adjust front and back on the shock collars. Thanks in advance.
Have you ever given thought to having a designated "indoor" (ghosted tire, laydown, hi bite) car as well as an "outdoor" ( mini pins, stand up) car to save time on rebuilds? Thanks again for the excellent work.
Hey Ryan, can you comment on front to back weight balance? I would love to hear your ideas/tips on setup and getting proper balance in your car. I am working on a nitro 4 tec rebuild basher but its balance feels bad (spinning on throttle, poor rear response in turns)
Hey Ryan, have you ever herd of or been to RC Excitement up here in Fitchburg Massachusetts?? I saw someone talking about you on the Facebook page. I couldn’t tell if it was you or if it was someone talking about you. Also what budget friendly elections that you would recommend?
Never been there! Hopefully one day. I would suggest the Juststock ESC from Hobbywing with a Trinity Motor/ Battery combo to have a great start in the spec classes.
Hi Dude, Currently have the B6.1 Setup. Great piece of kit. As a newbie to the track seen (Astro and Dirt), do you think is the more responsive to drive? Positives and Negatives of each...Cheers Buddy. I do like the look of the 22 5.0 :)
You, as well as a couple racers in my area, have me contemplating the Dark Side which is TLR... but AE and TLR need to make a 1/10 4wd truck.... Tekno needs to make a 2wd... For now, gonna run our rigs and spares into the ground and see what the world does between now and spring.... What is your opinion on the open pinion and spur gears on newer kits for outdoors?
Honestly, I hope TLR really appreciates what you bring to the RC industry and just how valuable of an asset you are to the team… love all of your content, not just an incredible driver but obviously a very talented photographer and all around individual.

I only have a rtr kraton at the moment but I still watch all of your setup/racing tip content. Lol. Keep up the excellent work kind sir.
Awesome dude! Hope you can try the race side of things one day 🤙
Ryan Harris I stop racing motocross and a friend got me into this RC thing and love it. My 1st buggy is the kyosho zx6 2 weeks later after buying my son a slash and the handling is quite different. What’s your opinion on kyosho?
Thanks Ryan. Just bought the elite kit today.
Just bought this car because of your channel, my very first 2WD car.. may I ask for your setup sheet as a starting point?
Very well put!! Or explained!!! Yes I'm now following you sir!!! And I'm a fan of HOBBYWING!!
Great... we drive the almost same electronics but same shock package and same rest...allways nice sound. Best Video quality....we wait for a new Video Mr Harris

Just found your channel, been binge watching episodes, hands down best RC content on UA-cam.

I don't have the same shocks as you, but I set the stroke as long as you did.... feels realy good.
Brilliant really considering getting a 1/10 indoor race buggy
Hi Mate, just wanted to thank you for all your videos, they are absolutely fantastic and helpful, cheers mate.
All review vids should now require a 6 month review, this is awesome!! Great shoots as always bruv, can't wait to see you in New England later this year ;) !!!
I'll be here in the southern portion of the states for the most part. Maybe travel one day!
Thank you for sharing

Thank you! Awesome video. Very helpful
Is this is clay/dirt version or the carpet version? :)
SUPER informative and enlightening. Great delivery of this info. Thank you!
Great video. I enjoy hearing your perspective on things. Can’t wait to test and tune some of the things you have mentioned and see how it works for me.

Nice, the SR came with the soft side rails and I totally agree -- testing them back to back with the SZL, the soft was a lot better.
Man your so well spoken gr8 video s :)
You ever have trouble with mounting your transponder so close to your receiver? I "burned out" a Mylaps and was told that it was because it was too close to the receiver....
Hello. Just curious to why you run trinity motor and battery but not the esc. New to the sport and was curious. Thanks for your videos.

RC10B6.2D
Trinity xFactor @51 from factory
HW XeRUN10Pro Red series
Protek RC160TBL
powered by the Trinity 4000mah Extra HV battery.
i guess i am late on this reply but it could be your pinion/spur gear ratio
You should post more ur vids r super helpful.Thats why I’m into TLR
Doing my best homie!
Great car for high grip but on some of our outdoor tracks some of the older rear motor buggies kills us on traction .

THANK YOU, I really enjoyed this
Very good info as always Ryan. I really like that buggy and when I am ready to buy new it will be this buggy. Thanks.
Ahhhhh....new Video. I was waiting and waiting....greetz from Vienna Austria...pippo
Hope you're doing well over there!
Great video! I now have some things to try on my 22 5.0.
I enjoy your videos and this one was no exception. Could I trouble you for a link (or the manufacturers name) to the carbon fiber motor plate you have on your TLR 22 5.0?
Greetings from Canada,
Love your vidéo continue the work👍
What your thoughts on the rollar model
I think it would be so amazing if you could help with track design jump angles ect. LET IT GROW!!

The track I would be racing on is dirt and is a bit looser than most of the tracks I see you run on. I really like the buggies and would consider 2WD or 4WD. Do you have a TLR car that you would recommend for that type of track? Or are the Elites customizable enough for that style of track?
Love the content. Presentation overall epic.
Have you made a video on your rack that holds the cars to the wall? It looks super sano.
Great vid. Got myself an 22 5.0 elite as well. Love it!
love your Videos Ryan!!! Keep up the great work!🙏😎
Hi, thanks for all the info, great content as usual. hopefully I will bump into you down at Mills Pond Park.
Perhaps you make a video on the differences on a dirt/clay buggy and a turf/carpet buggy? Are the differences subtle or radical?
AE v2 spring gray are the same pounds rate 3.60
New to this. I'm thinking about picking one of these up. Are they tough to assemble?
Great video as normal, Ryan what do you use on your wall to mount your buggies please?
It was something that a small brand was 3D printing for a bit. They are no longer in business unfortunately :/
@@RyanHarrisRC thanks man, such a shame it looks ideal :)
Sorry if I missed it, but I don't think you actually mentioned the shock oil weight you are using (with the thin pistons, and 3mm shafts). Thx!
All the details are in the setup link in the description 👍
Hi Ryan I just picked up the 5.0 AC and have ordered the G2 diff as compared to the composite gears that come with the kit. What are you running in your diff and what diff oil weight do you usually use? Oh yeah running on Carpet Astro. Great videos!
Car looks good! Do you shorten your servo wires? Thanks
Great video Ryan, unfortunately, the link isn't working to your 2wd setup sheet. I just like to know the parts list for the shock package you use, like is it "exactly the same" as the 4.0 kit shock package or slightly different minus the springs ofc?
Hi is it safe 2 fully lock the slipper clutch on rb10
Hey Ryan where are your C and D block pills at for carpet setting
Ryan: runs out if video ideas
Ryan, a day later: MY CURRENT SETUP
Awesome videos!!!! Thank you for all the help! Is there a reason you use the slipper instead of the direct drive for the 17.5? Have you noticed durability issues? Trying to decide :)
Love your videos, just curious, the rack thats on your wall that holds your buggies, did you make that or can it be purchased?
Thx for the descriptions and advices. But have you a link to the wall car support you use please? Thx
Hi Ryan so your front shock springs are close to what colour tlr springs ? Love your videos
Just curious I was wondering if some of the parts will work for the twenty two 4.0 I’m just starting my UA-cam and I’d love to feature it on my UA-cam soon love you’re videos man hope I get better at editing and filming soon your videos are really good. 👍
Have you ever made your way to Canada before
Great video but can’t find the part number for the shocks. Have an elite would like to convert to the 3.0 shaft and the caps
I picked up a new XR 10 Pro G2 Elite a couple weeks ago and I haven't gotten to get out to the track to use it yet 😭
I currently have a carpet car and a dirt car. Two dirt cars is a bit much for me
Fasted I clicked on a vid since last one😂
Hey Ryan big fan here, just a quick question. What type of battery connectors you have on there and why did you use those?
You, as well as a couple racers in my area, have me contemplating the Dark Side which is TLR... but AE and TLR need to make a 1/10 4wd truck.... Tekno needs to make a 2wd...
For now, gonna run our rigs and spares into the ground and see what the world does between now and spring....
What is your opinion on the open pinion and spur gears on newer kits for outdoors?
Hello Ryan... What about the Mip puck system, are you still using it. It seems to be sold out every i look?
Ryan are you back up and racing yet. Or when does ur season start again
Greetings from Denmark. Love your content. What brand of pinion gear do you use?
Trinity!
loving your vids, good info and explained well. SUB!!
Aye some DDH Super Cup footage!
Hey Ryan.. do you have a list of parts for the 3.0mm shocks? Or where I could get them? All I am seeing are the 3.5mm shock parts
Hello did you find the part list?
@@geoffmurphy3410 I did not
