Hey Ryan. I’m a 42 year old RC guy who recently got a few track cars. Haven’t done any racing since I was in my 20’s. Your channel has been super helpful getting back “up to speed”!! Thanks bro!!
I had the similar same issue with steering on a 1/8 buggy a few months ago and found out after a longer investigation that at my model there was a wrong suggested length in the manual of the steering connection between servo horn and Ackerman plate. Since then I always center the Ackerman plate first with a caliper then center the servo horn in neutral to a 90 degree angle and then connect the rod resp. Modify the length of the rod and connect it then. BTW: Don’t forget if you change the front camber it will also change your front toe out and vice versa. For this reason I change only the settings of my front in a setup station.
Saving this video to watch repeatedly!!! A ton of simple, easy to understand information. You are extremely good at explaining yourself in an informative and knowledgeable way. But still not losing everyone in technical terms. Awesome videos dude!!
Drive Your Race!! Im going to remember that as I practice!! Sorry for the loss of your father.. He must of been a great dad though!! I didn't grow up with a father but im raising my children the best i can with rc cars of course :) Still watching your channel learning.. setting up some cars of my own :) Best of luck to you brother!
That’s so funny!! I had a steering issue as well. Swapped a servo from my B6 to my B6.1 never looked at the manual and left the 1mm spacer in and had the same steering issue. Didn’t find it till I was checking out my buddy’s buggy and noticed his steering link was straight and mine was at an angle.
More helpful info and all around great job with your videos. Great production, info, everything. Keep it up!! Easily one of the best produced RC UA-cam channels I've come across.
Just a helpful tip. When measuring inside length or diameter you should use the other side of the caliper to get a more accurate measurement. Thank you for the great content as usual and good luck with the new setup.
What I'm talkn about. Respect!! Nice to see people workn on their 1:10 scale 2wd buggys. Starting my own tlr-22 3.0 spec racer build. Florescent yellow velocity wheels with few diff. sets of prolines. Honestly skyrc esc's have proved to be pretty damn good especially for the nickel. But well see. Nice associated by the way!!

Nice video again! I usually drive and watch rc drifting stuff , but i looooove your channel. It nice to feel your passion for this hobby and for video making. You really inspiring me for my channel, thank you so much and keep uploading 👍
I had wanted to go to the JC INS race at Beach RC, but my $ has to go elsewhere. I also haven’t bought my first 1:1 truck yet, so I couldn’t have gone anyway. If you want to come to World Of RC Parts/Thunder Alley annual Xmas giveaway race on Dec.15, come on down for sure! You won’t regret it. I’ve also got a question regarding the used AE B5m CE I bought to race 17.5 off road on gray carpet. I haven’t rebuilt it yet because I need to get down to the closest off road carpet track to ask racers for setups. In testing the buggy out the way I got it used in the box,(minus some esc programming, re-soldering of all the crappy joints, and dropping in a used reedy sonic m3 17.5), it will drive straight in first gear, but when it goes up to 2nd gear it try to spin out and turn to one side. Does that mean that the diff is too loose? Good luck at Beach RC and say hi(and thanks) to Lucas Loring for me! (Just say it’s from the kid who asks way too many questions and bought his TLR 10-SCTE 3.0 and some MIP drivers there this summer and asked him more questions... my colors were orange up front and blue in the rear for the first body I painted for it and also that he hasn’t replied to the last email I sent him months ago after one of the two hurricanes lol. He should know who I am. If he doesn’t, he can scroll through his email inbox to remember.) He’s an awesome employee there. -Ev
Hi Ryan..always enjoy your videos..Whats your opinion on letting a season driver drive ones buggy?..Im afraid that when i do that,im basically letting the driver tune the radio and parts on the buggy to their style of driving
Ryan Harris, Thanks for all your great videos!👍👍👍 I just came home with a newly purchased Asso T6.1. and this video came right before the assembly. Maybe you have at the next opportunity some tips about the RC10T ....? 😄
Hey Ryan, Thanks for showing your adventures! I dug out all my old RC stuff (Rc10T3) from 20 years+ ago. I want to get back into racings and looking at new kits but not sure what I should be looking at. I want to make it into a 1/10th buggy possibly 4 wheel drive. What do you recommend nearly starting from scratch again.
I want to get into the hobby but don’t know where to even practice. There is no track near me now that Speed RC has closed. Might just get a tuggy and do off road stuff at the park.
Awesome! I am doing a rebuild on my B6 right now, and I should check whether my servo is right or not. Currently, I am looking for more steering, but I have been playing with setup stuff and I want to see if the position of the servo is wrong before I do that.
For steering if your unsure of your steering. Ensure your servo horn is installed at ninety degrees with the radio and vehicle powered on before setting turnbuckle length. Then make sure to set epa so you don't overdrive your servo, or make sure your getting full travel for left and right. If your car pushes on the track. There are many ways to get what you want from your car. Different methods suit different drivers. Make sure to make one change at a time, ensure the change actually makes you faster. If not, revert to the previous setting before trying another change.
Hi Ryan! I really enjoy your videos very much and I hope, you keep up doing this! I am a hobby racer (1/8th nitro and ebuggy and 1/10 2WD stock 13.5) and an ambitioned hobby fotographer from Hamburg/Germany. So I really see the quality and effort you put in the technical aspect of your videos! Great! And I like the content as well of course! Thanks a lot! I struggle a little at the moment with motortemperature and timing and gearing my 13.5t-motor correctly. Maybe you can have this as a topic for one of you next videos. Best regards from Hamburg!
One question have you ever read into suspension dynamics. Like what race teams use. Because all the same principles apply. F1 and Baja truck would be good material.
Hi Ryan have you ever raced on lose dirt tracks ? I'm trying to get more steering and i've changed the servo position back more as I had the same problem as you did. Front shocks are on and the outside holes top and bottom rears are in the middle . This track is an old school type track made from clay not rolled and bumpy through corners I'd like to get the car more settled mid corner as I cant use full power .
Hey Ryan, I’m in my late 40s and getting back into RC racing after about 15 years! Can’t wait, but lots has changed... tying to catch up. Any recommendations for a budget battery charger? I know you do did a video on a budget setup, but can’t seem to find it. Thank you for the content and inspiration....
Hi Ryan, what servo arm are you using? Is it an original aluminum AE 15.5mmm arm? Is that the grip type two screw or the regular single bolt servo arm? I am trying to decide whether to get the AE servo 15.5mm or the Exotek which is 15mm, what do you think?
What a great video (again)! Altough I do not understand everything well, because of my poor english and the technical stuff i have never seen before, I watched your hole UA-cam-content. I especially like the sights you are showing of your ways, if you are going to races. Your channel made me trying to get into running rc cars. I found a local track for the winter season and since october i am running a b6.1 on carpet... :) greetings from Salzburg, Austria
I was just on Facebook, looking at a buddies post about his INS8 experiance... And there you are in a pic, holding 2nd place hardware! Did you make a video while you were there?
Hey Ryan. Love your videos! They are always informative and entertaining. Question for you. I run a LCG 4x4 Slash and am wondering about weight distribution. What is recommended for dirt? I used to run kart and kept things 40/60 but I rarely jumped it in dirt (only once).
When would you recommend using the Schelle lockout kit over their slipper kit? I picked up the lockout by mistake thinking it was the slipper kit, but am considering keeping it. Any pros or cons on the two since you’ve had this one on your car for a bit?
Hi, I'm from Puerto Rico and my friends want to know your opinion about which is the best servo, esc, engine and which battery would be designed or recommended by you ... if you could make a video about it, it would be very helpful for us

Hi Ryan, I have been searching for a good explanation of turn apex and how to enter and exit the turn to maintain the most speed, etc... Was wondering if you have any advice on this.
@@RyanHarrisRC Thanks man! Keep up the good work, I have a similar story, got out of the hobby for awhile and now im getting back, everything is so different, more advanced, exciting lol. Maybe a video suggestion, Difference in driving your 2w vs 4w buggy and what you may have to do differently driving the 4w around turns and such. Thanks again!
Great video Ryan ! I use a savox sc-1258tg servo .I ended up not using any spacers on mine which made my steering link straight. Did you switch to the thinner spcer or no spacer at all ?
@@RyanHarrisRC In theory, spring weight should be based on the overall weight of the vehicle. Corner balance should determine those spring rates as well as preload and overall shock length front->rear & left->right. Bound & Rebound would be controlled by the fluid CST. I think (maybe) valving would then control high- & low-speed bound & rebound to compensate for bumps vs jumps. There is plenty of math involved, but all the equations are out there based on 1/1th scale racecar engineering. Disclaimer: I am new to RC and learning a lot (thanks in no small part to you!), so this is all hypothetical from previous experience.
