Awsom old merc. I had a 65 merc. monteray with roll down back window , got it in LA and drove it to Alaska in 80 , NO problems . Gave a hitch hiker a ride from Canadian border to Anchorage , FUN trip ! Thanks for your vids ! Wish you had time to make more . Thanks again , George .
I think they find so many base vintage cars is due to a few reasons. Canadians then weren't as wealthy as Americans. Canadians maybe were more frugal by nature, the area is rural, so extra frugal, the people buying these cars would remember the Great Depression, and Alberta and Saskatchewan were the most severely affected of all provinces.
Y'all continuously impress me with your amazing finds! How incredible is that Meteor?! Totally original, and runs like a champ with only the most minor work, after sitting for 30 years! Those old 223 straight-sixes were not powerful, but man they are totally indestructible. Really fantastic! Hope your buddy keeps that thing all original. It'd be a shame to see it modified, simply because *everyone* wants to take something like that and mod the hell out of it. Maybe find a period-correct AM radio and drop it in there, but leave the body, engine, and interior alone -- it's darn near perfect the way it is. Again -- what a great find! Good job!
Jim has some incredible vehicles, all of you guys do. I guess that's what I appreciate about your channel, there is something for everyone, even the French car fanatics. Lol
I love your videos because so many of the cars were six cylinder/three on the tree, which is exactly how a huge number of Canadian cars were equipped in those days. My uncle had a Meteor exactly the same as the one featured. He was in the RCAF, and when he and his family were transferred to Baden in Germany, the Meteor went along. Within a month he'd blown the motor on the Autobahn. The 223 and 3 on the tree couldn't take flat out driving for long.
Len Peters Thanks for the note; nice to hear from someone else who understands that these were the cars that people actually owned and drove; not just the convertibles and big-engine hardtops that usually get restored. Sadly, many nice 4 door sedans get chopped up for parts. Cheers!
Great car, great series of UA-cam videos. I have a '55 Ford w/ that same engine and my Dad's '63 Falcon is that same color! Excellent. Thanks for sharing and keeping the hobby going.
Man.. what a awesome find.. btw, that's basically just a Galaxie or Ford Custom, the trim at the top of the doors and quarter panels come off, once you do that it looks just like a Galaxie except for the different fenders on it and the back glass of course.. wish it was mine! be driving that to work everyday NP! Getting super super hard to find stock stuff down here in Cali these days, every joker out there just cuts 'em up and slams 'em with black paint in pin stripes.. I've got a 65 Galaxie 500 LTD 390ci Interceptor 4 door that people keep wanting to make a custom out of.. I plan on taking it to my grave! Love your vids btw, been watching for a few years now, keep it up 8)
Awesome car! I had never seen a vehicle that had not been started in over 30 years be in such excellent condition and start and run as well as this one did. This is the best 1964 Mercury Meteor I had ever seen on any youtube video that's all original.
What a fantastic old Merc’ What’s the backstory?? Little old lady, only drove to church and grocery store? Incredible survivor, eh Good ole Stella!! ❤️
What a great find , a true survivor car , pleased its in good hands and the demo derby boys didn't find it . Look up UK Bangers on UA-cam and you'd be shocked at the pre 70 cars they wreck . Keep up the great work and humour guys , love your channel, cheers from Australia 🍺
its always a great feeling to find an older car or truck . and to find one that is in original condition as well . your Meteor in its present condition here in Pittsburgh Pa (U.S.A.) is worth from $4000 to $5000 . being a four door . very interesting find . Ray in Pa.
I had a Meteor 600, six cylinder 3 speed for a minute, I cant remember the year could have been a 1961? It ran great and so smooth you couldn't tell it was idling, aside from the faint glow of the GEN light. Being an idiot young man I flogged that thing and blew up the clutch, so being that idiot I junked the car. I had it for such a short time I am surprised I remember it at all, it was black, four door and rubber mats, it did have a radio though
What a great score! I can't believe the variety of golden oldies that you guys come up with and resurrect. Southern Sk. is unfortunately getting pretty picked over for such treasure. She is a keeper for sure to be babied and enjoyed. An uncle of mine had a 63 Merc with the same drivetrain and I remember as a kid being totally impressed with the unique rear window style. Cool cars and this one was an amazing find.
Merlyn Sk Hey, thanks for the note! Glad you liked the ol' Meteor! We do get lucky sometimes; this car was pretty easy to get going again. Cheers from us here at CWMC.
@@billsmoot67 I had a '64 Monterey Breezway in high school. The first car I bought. It was in great shape and I loved it. I had it for 8 years but had to sell after I graduated from college. I ran out of storage space for it and also needed the money. 😢
Most of the cars you guys are finding are equipped with six cylinders that's kind a rare, I thought most of the cars had V-8 s during that time. Because they are so big and heavy . But I love you're show . From Seattle Washington
I love the Canadian Meteor I have seen then in newengland hey were better looking then the ford. the 64 is a nice mix ove mercuy and ford that6- the 223 is a very strong runner its just a very pretty car some Canadian cars are making there way to the us I have a friend that has a 1951 mercury pick up love your show
I love all your videos! I hope you did not let that "exhaust fail" (LOL) remain touching that left rear tire, lest you have a melting rubber fail as well. It's obvious you love saving these old cars from the crusher. Therefore think not that you have entered the "wasting my time Olympics". And there are thousands of us out there in "UA-camLand" who wish to thank you for that. It always makes me sad to see an old perfectly restorable car go to the crusher. I'm thinking specifically of a UA-cam vid that shows a 1959 Buick that was perfectly restorable that was lost to the crusher. I hope and pray that your videos will inspire many others to save other old cars that otherwise would be lost. Keep up the good work!
Marshall Curtis Thank-you for the kind words, and for watching this stuff! I saw the Buick video you mentioned; I had to turn it off, haha. 59 Buicks are my favorites! I hope to get one some day... Well, cheers from us here at CWMC; we have lots more on the way...
Beautifully sounding mill under the hood. It kind of sounds like the valve lash is just a tiny bit on the loose side. I don't know if that particular engine had hydraulic lifters. You have this engine in perfect tune. I noticed no vacuum booster for the brakes and I didn't see a power steering pump so it probably required a little muscle to drive this vehicle by todays standards but none the less, a great car and an equally great video. Bravo Zulu to you Sir!
+heffo and juff probably not like you'd think. the factory alignment in these old cars was such that even a bluehaired granny could navigate a parking lot without power steering. It may be 35 turns lock to lock, but not so difficult.
at least Ford Motor Co. made use of that "one-off" l960 Galaxie styling that was only around that one year on the full size Fords. do they have safety inspections/emissions tests in your area of Canada for cars that old? if not, that thing could run another 20 years.
+coldwarmotors our family owned plenty of rambler cars with the inline six Rambler made a great six cylinder engine as we had the 196 also we had a 232 six and a 258 six.
I just found your channel and have enjoyed many hours of coldwarmotors already. Gotta leave a comment on this 64 Meteor. I have a 64 Park Lane convertible, all white, which I'm gathering parts for. I was wondering if this Canadian stripper has the functional rear window? Keep saving the old iron.
Ford must have gone through a phase with the backwards slanted rear window as they did that with a small car from England sold here In Australia, the Ford Anglia, my brother had one . Great little car ,was painted British racing green. The old man and his mates made one into a stock car and raced it at the Boulder speedway in the goldfields of Western Australia. Great little four cylinder, the boys went silly ,bored it out to the max, shaved the head till the valves nearly hit the pistons and put two twin throat Weber carbs on it,went like shit, but that backwards window said Ford to me. Cheers Ross In Aussie
eiclan Hey! Cheers from Canada! We got Anglias here too... my friend had one years ago, but they are mostly gone now. We're looking for one locally and I will definitely do a vid if we find one...
cheers Mate, they are all gone here to but if you fine one it has been restored and they want a million bucks for it.The only place to find such cars is out in the bush on farms where they were driven into a shed when the new model turned up. But even then they are still hard to find. I saw a late fifties Bedford truck on the net but it lasted about three seconds and it was gone . Cheers Ross
Why would anybody park a good car? I was born in 1948, and from the time I was maybe 12 years old there was a 1956 Ford Sedan (the high end model) parked in the yard of a house on the way down to my grandparents in Georgia. At that time it was a late model vehicle. The story I was told was that it belonged to a son of the man who owned the house, and when the boy died the father just parked the car. I know a lot of people tried to buy it with no success. It disappeared from the yard about four years back. I know the time because I go to Georgia a couple of times a year for a motorcycle debauch with buds. My rough calculation is that the car sat there in the open for about 50 years. It was a landmark.
UGLY CAR But yes simple and bullet proof for sure. I had a 61fairlane with the same engine trans combo. Slow as could be no good in a turn but fun none the less!

What an amazing, bullet-proof vehicle.
Cars were so simple and easy to fix back then! Imagine trying to do this with a 2017 Audi A4, 30 years from now!
Great find. Bullet proof indeed. Being stored for 30 years probably saved it from being picked clean or 'customized'.
Ant that the truth ! love seeing original survivors that has not been off roaded tree banging and chop all to hell.
They maybe even saved it from being niggaized too... What great old Lead Sled... It probably don't even have no lead in it either... Fantastic find...
Another awesome vid! The Mighty Meteor! What great name for a car. That thing has a NICE exhaust note!

I had the smaller brother to this car...a 1964 Comet Caliente convertible in the same color for my first car. Brings back great memories.
Jim seems to understand that paying more for cars in primo condition is almost always way cheaper than getting a good deal on a POS!
Another great job on a great old car. Always enjoy watching your videos. Keep it up!

Nice find ! Congratulations from France :-)
awesome guys ! I had a 63 back in the day , I loved that car . good for you , sweeeeet
Gotta Love a 1960s FoMoCo product that isn't a Mustang and not all beat to crap.
What a great car.
Another great save! Nice car, and so original !!! 8*}
Awesome find! You folks have a lot of Full size 6 cylinder/ 3 on the tree cars up there. Fun to drive!!
Love it. I have a 63 Meteor Custom hardtop coupe with a 260 / mercomatic trans, this is cool.
Hey, that sounds like a great car! Cheers from us here...
If I could ever find one like this I would rock it proudly although hear in the US
It would be a mercury if I get one

I believe it did on at least some.
NO roll down rear window. now I bet THAT is more rare than all other other "delete" options this car has.
TheCorvetteBen this 64 is a base meteor. The Monterey Breezeway had that one.

Very interesting car. Probably VERY rare. Mostly Mercury, but it does have a Galaxie dash!
I like the rooftoop at the backside,,,the mirror at the doors, looks like a place to loose it more that ,if it were to be at the base
I'm a Ford junkie, I want this one.
My favorite car! just love it!
Great video, as always! Im surprised at how many of these old cars are about. Here in the UK theres hardly any!
I loved that. The body seems immaculate.Send it to me please!

Yes mirror kool
cool looking car mate is it for sale??
I've been revisiting some CWM classics and just rewatched this series. Did Agent 223 ever do anything with this car?
Oh! He did get the car on the road and drove it for the summer before selling it to finance the rebuild of his 1964 Galaxie convertible...Cheers!
That's great to hear, I hope it went to a good home. Thanks, Scott. My best to everyone at CWM.
That exhaust right next to the tire... something seems wonky about that. But if it works and doesn't melt the tire, it's all good, eh?
I love that oval window VW. Is it for sale?
hi look very cool
I would keep that sucker original and just fix the back box and that's it.
What is your gold colored car that you drove down in?
+Michael Loughran, looks to be an early 70's Chrysler.
+Michael Loughran It looks like a 1972 Chrysler Newport Custom or New Yorker 4dht.
Does this thing require leaded gasoline or equivalent?
im 1981 they had the motor for a 1981 ford fairmont.. 6 cyl 200 ci.. not 230ci..smaller in the gas crunch 80s
damn, would like to find one and use as a daily driver

How about the rear end Dewey it reminds me of an edsel whatta think
How about an update?
What ever became of that car?
Oh, Jim sold it years ago; not sure where it ended up! cheers...
This is like an episode of the Twilight Zone. Jim so young and Sarah Palin commercial.
It needs a 427 side oiler with a heavy duty 3 speed on the tree
Does he still have this,??? Obviously his new Lincoln Mark IV is way cooler, but this is a nice old girl, for sure.
It won't take much to restore that
hope it doesn't sit and rot like the others
Similar to a Falcon
