Leprous Reaction Video
It was so awesome to come across this today - thanks so much for this video and for your kind words about the song! I'm the cellist from Leprous btw :)
👌🏾
Love your work
@@euieui8920 Thank you so much! 🙏
@@NeverlastingPeace 🙏🙏
You’re just amazing! 🤍
Leprous just posted this reaction on their insta page.
Another vote for 'The Sky Is Red' here. Just an amazing song that you've got to hear! Especially the live video they released.
drum playrthrought is better
This!!! And I would also say The Flood, such a unique song. And The Valley is one of their best as well, it has everything.
@@gabrieljimenez5313 They way he follows the middle vocal part that sounds 'out' is beautiful. ✌🏻
I'd suggest forced entry, probably their best song
Please yes. Pleeeeaaasssee, yes.
(-:
The sky is red by Leprous really shows their skill and diversity with their songs, I can't recommend this song enough.
Forced Entry too
@@MJ-vd8bj +1 Forced Entry
+1 on both The sky is red and forced entry :)
Yup. +1 'sky is red.' So dynamic and... crunchy?
The live version on UA-cam is killer!
By reading the comments it looks like the prog community has fallen in love with your channel geebez
WE HAVE
Ahah yep we have😂
I’ve noticed the same thing. As a massive prog fan myself, I know I certainly have.
I just found his channel and am instantly in love LMAO
Well yes, but I came here via JustJP
A Leprous song! Finally woohoo
That's a perfect profile picture haha
@@PhoenixDecim A masterpiece indeed
Leprous live was a revelation. Their drummer is legimately one of the best in the world. They also had a live cellist, or at least did when I saw them with Haken a couple of years ago.
With Haken🤯 Had to be the best concert ever
That was a great concert. I did the meet and greet also. Cello player is now part of the band. It adds so much.
Baard did a Google Talk lol
@@Kelly.sapphire Didn't he refuse?
but he's still the cello player for recordings and live
@@hroj u might be right. He is there for live and recordings though
Leprous best songs to react:
The Price
Forced Entry
The Valley
The Sky Is Red
I condone this message! Maybe add The Flood to the list. But definitely Forced Entry and The Valley.... and The Price and The Sky Is Red haha, it's just all so good and unique.
Damn. Leprous and Katatonia in one day? This is my reaction channel of choice. Excellent work for you and this community you're building!
If you like this one of theirs, youll love Bonneville, Distant Bells, and The Sky is Red!
Bonneville is amazing
Distant bells is freaking breath taking
Distant Bells doesn't get enough credit, it's on par with The Sky is Red in terms of vocal performance to me, simply beautiful
Bonneville! Yes!
Yes! Distant bells!
The first time I heard Einar's voice I felt the same goosebumps that I felt when I heard Jeff Buckley for the first time. Goddamn what a voice.
Leprous is incredible! cant wait for this, PLEASE check out The Sky is Red from the same album. just INSANE
Best to do the drum playthrough by Baard Kolstad!
I love this song so much 🥵 The Sky is Red is the obvious “single” off the album and it’s some of the most impressive 11 minutes I’ve heard a band perform before, but this song is soooo damn good man
11 minutes long and almost entirely in 11/4 time as well. Genius.
Only found them in the past year but the sky is red was the first track I saw. Amazing! Bar on the drums, oaft!
If he listens, he should watch the drum playthrough
zamzamzam zam zam....oh dude what a song
I absolutely love At the Bottom! Definitely one of my favourites from them.
mixing electronics/synths (let alone a freakin trap beat) with a metal song is so hard to do right, and these guys make it sound organic & effortless...so glad you featured this band, I'll be taking a deep dive for sure
I'm partial to a song of theirs, that doesn't seem to ever get requested, called Mirage.
Maybe Pelican will make an appearance one day too. 😃
That song is great. So underrated
Mirage is one of my favorites as well.👍
Ha, I see you are a man of culture as well...
Mirage is my favorite song of this album ❤️
Captain Morgan did Mirage on his reaction chanel but i dont think he liked it much lol
Leprous - Contaminate Me live is a good one to check out. It features Ihsahn from the band Emperor.
I second that!
@@tornoutlaw Third!
The Sky Is Red from Leprous would blow your mind
Other songs: Slave, Third Law, Contaminate Me specifically the live versions from their Live @ Rockefeller Music Hall DVD
My personal favorite is called Rewind.
I am stoked to finally see Leprous on your channel! Please, do more songs from them! They have so much great stuff, here are a few suggestions:
"Below", "From the Flame", "The Sky is Red", "Alleviate", "Illumintate", "The Weight of Disaster".
Also, "Slave" (Live At Rockefeller Music Hall) is just phenomenal.
I wholeheartedly agree with all of these suggestions.
Leprous is probably the prog band who's sound will never get old to me, on a league of their own. And their last album was absolutely exquisite tbh.
I keep being shocked every time the feel changes... lol. I really like it. I love listening to bands that make me think about their creative process, and their influences. This one was a "wtf did i just hear" for me! Gotta get into more.
This album is audiophile pornography.
Well said. 100% agree!
Felt kind of shallow and toothless compared to Malina or The congregation.
@@phaedruslive I think the exact opposite.
Couldn't agree more. We need more Leprous pls #TOOLArmy
It's my fav album of 2019. So dynamic
Leprous is in my top 3 along with Haken and Caligula's Horse. Cant go wrong with any of those three.
Yes, yes, yes!! I could not agree more!! I am obsessed with Caligula’s Horse right now, and Haken and Leprous have dominated my playlists for years. But I would also like to add Pain of Salvation and Devin Townsend to make that list a top 5 😁.
Same here!! VOLA is entering that same realm for me...
I would like to echo the comment sections suggestions of "The Sky is Red" but also put in a suggestion for "Slave" live at Rockefeller Music Hall. This live performance is according to me even better than the album version because it has just as good of a mix as the studio album but, this live performance was an anniversary for the band so they brought on some old members from the band, and when they played "Slave" at this concert they had a past drummer come on and two drums really adds a lot of the ambiance. The song also shows a bit more of the range that Einar (vocals and keyboards) has. Both of these songs also show of their drummer Baard very well and i think his skill is one of the most outstanding things with this band.
On a sidenote on compositions with surprises you also did Ne Obliviscaris(Australians) that have a violinist as main part of the band
Slave live is just incredibly intense. The Rockefeller video gave me goosebumps all over. I saw them live last summer, and with covid it was a different type of concert, everyone sitting in assigned seats, so a bit more reserved. But when they played Slave I was of course entranced myself, and at the point where he does the scream, this guy a few rows over can't contain himself, and jumps up and screams with him, before sitting down again. I just thought "awesome dude, you did what everyone here wanted to do themselves."
I started off on your channel because of TOOL. I am so blessed being able to take this journey with you. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! I love hearing new music.
This is not a "reaction" channel. I like to think of it as a "discovery and education" channel. ❤
I've seen Leprous live and I can tell you, that is not studio magic. Einar is just that breathtaking on vocals!!
Baard Kolstad is one of those inhuman drummers. litrally know nothing about drums but ive watched that man play for hours now
Yes yes yessss. Loving it so much! Caligulas Horse, Sleep Token, and Tesseract are all I'm dying to see left at this point, the rest will just be icing :D
Been asking for him to do Bloom and Marigold by Caligula's Horse for a while now. Hopefully he does them i think he'll love it!
@@marcusweatherbee8195 I'd go Dream the Dead or Salt, but bands having too many good songs is a plus lol
Haken too 👍
Dream the Dead yasssss
Another great band no one’s ever heard of is Rishloo. Check out “Dark Charade.”
ua-cam.com/video/gdFoHdAIOQE/v-deo.html
Thank You!
I LOVE RISHLOO!!! Feathergun is my favorite album of theirs! So underappreciated, that band...
@@dansourile5444 freaks and animals is an insane song too
Yes please, Rishloo would be great!
Rishloo are great, but definitely not in the "no one's ever heard of" category. Now take Evership or something and then we'll talk criminally underlistened :P
You’ve got a great listener base if they’ve led to you this gem. Highly recommend “Distant Bells” for another Leprous song with this vibe. I also really want to recommend “Sky Machine” by Karnivool for the same kind of transcendent experience.
Sky is Red and Illuminate would be also gret tracks to cover
Forced Entry. You'll have your "hands" full with it. And it's just a damn good song.
Hello. The Dillinger escape plan please. Widower maybe, or limerent death
They do cool stuff
Oooh! I’d love to see that!
Widower, oh yes please!!
After igorrr and clown core i think he's definitely there. I think it's time for some dillinger madness
This man's like/dislike ratio is the envy of most UA-camrs
..."I play enough just to make myself dangerous." Nice. I like it. Badass.
New album came out, would make my day to see your coverage on the fresh material
I ADORE this Song! ❤
I think it's time for you to be introduced to Mr. Mike Patton
Carousel by Mr Bungle is a must
@@MarshTheDarsh Quote Unquote would also be awesome
I agree. Good sir, try "We're not alone" by Peeping Tom, which is Mike Patton's child
@@GryffinTV man he could spend weeks just going through all of his bands and projects he's been in.
Since your doing bands you haven’t done yet you gotta listen to Between The Buried And Me. I recommend the song Extremophile Elite.
Yes! That would be an awesome choice!
WOW 😲
That is a fantastic track and that voice 🤯
You should react to Borknagar - up north. Btw i love watching these videos, it gives me more insight for my album I'm working on
A perfect circle - The noose 🤙🏻
One of the most awe inspiring live bands in the business to boot. They nail everything with jaw dropping precision
My favourite part is when you noticed the cello. Can't wait to see them live today for the first time.
Leprous live at Rockefeller. Excellent performance!
Everyone here requesting The Sky is Red, but i think "Distant Bells" or basically every song on "Pitfalls" would be worth its own discussion. This album is phenomenal
Love Distant Bells and a couple of others, but imo this is easily their worst album outside of maybe Tall Poppy Syndrome.
Don't know if you'll read this. I hope you will react to a song from Intronaut at some point. Very talented musicians that are still very unrecognized with respect to their talent. Bit of metal, bit of jazz, and definitely experimental. If you do, best starting songs in my opinion would be Fast Worms, Sore Sight for Eyes, and Procurement of the Victuals/Cubensis. Great choices of songs to react to so far. Keep up the great work!
Please react to The Sky is Red by Leprous. They have one of my favorite contemporary drummers and I think that track really showcases his creativity.
OMG more Leprous please! They're unbelievable. The last three albums they did are among my favorite albums ever. There's a 6-day live-stream going right now where we can see them writing a new song. All the band members know music theory really well, and they really write together, it's beautiful to see.
More Leprous songs, once you learn more for them it will be another tool thing for you. From any album.
You should listen to "Celestial Violence" by Ihsahn, the frontman of Leprous is doing an amazing job on vocals in that song!
Leprous are truly amazing.
Yes more Leprous! They offer a very wide range of amazing music.
THE SKY IS RED PLEASE!!! ITLL BLOW YOUR MIND
Pitfalls is a true masterpiece, can listen to it start to finish and never get bored.
Now try and listen to Forced Entry XDD it sounds like a totally different band
The sky is red:
11:11 duration
song is in 11/8
last note is played at 11 minutes
11 letters in the name as well 😉
That is spooky
It goes to 11!
i would to see you react to The Dear Hunter, specifically Regress + The Moon/Awake. technically two songs but the transition is seamless and they're both GORGEOUS
Stumbled upon you on the Leprous instagram. Best reaction channel i have seen. Subbed
I'm so glad I discovered Leprous recently, because for one, I am more able than ever, as my musical understanding has grown, to fully appreciate all this magnificent band has to offer; but mainly cause I get to find videos I didn't see from my favorite music analyst and reviewer (Aloha!) and listen along to these masterpieces. What other gems didn't click upon? *excited*
The strings on this album were arranged by Chris Baum who plays violin with a great band called Bent Knee. I'd love to see you react to them, they're criminally underrated, quite different from most current prog bands, and their vocalist is jaw-droppingly talented. I think you'd find the song Way Too Long an interesting one to analyse!
You‘re quickly becoming my favorite person to react to my favorite music. Leprous is awesome to dive in. I’d recommend „The Sky Is Red“ or „Bonneville“ next.
I’d also like to recommend Agent Fresco from Iceland, who are good friends with Leprous and are often compared with them. They are on the same level for me, just a tad more accessible. Check out „Dark Water“ or „Howls“.
Anyway, keep doing what you’re doing!
Agent Fresco is amazing!
Agent Fresco, pleeeeeaaase!!
you've rekindled my love for Leprous today, haven't listened to them in a while
One of the best things about Leprous in my opinion, is that all of their work is pretty different from one another, yet still maintains their core sound which is always brilliant.
If you ever get back to this band, which I highly recommend, based on each of their albums would be Phantom Pain, Forced Entry, Coal, Rewind, and finally Coma. My personal favorites from each of their 5 albums leading up to what you listened here on their 6th album. Keep doing what you're doing dude, it's a fun time watching.
If you want another band I would also suggest Ne Obliviscaris - Eyrie, you liked different instruments being a surprise, and there's one in this band.
Always happy to come here and find a new artist to add to the list. This reminds me of Muse, and that bass guitar tone is wonderful.
I can see that muse comparison
God, you quickly putting down you pen at 2:16 after he sang that part gave me a good laugh.
That gorgeous cello you hear is the fantastic Raphael Weinroth-Browne! His Worlds Within album is the best of modern classical prog (if that is a thing). :)
Imagine Dream theatre with this singer...!
So many great Leprous songs! Where to begin? "The Sky is Red" is pretty unique, it's captures the claustrophobic desperation of mental illness so incredibly well.
True mastery of the voice! Good lord.
I've only really listened to Slave but holy crap I'm glad the fans recommended this song instead!
Love this band. Saw them twice this year. Love how they don't go into the chorus the same way twice. Einars voice is amazing. All the musicians are great but Baards drumming shines!
This was the reaction I was waiting for. Leprous is amazing!
The Sky is Red!
Literally just heard this band for the first time. In fact, I was watching a drummer covering The Sky Is Red on UA-cam which was fantastic so I thought Geebz must have done these guys and hey presto! I will definitely be tuning into more of their stuff. 👍🏼
YES! Leprous, finally!
Please do more of them. They are AMAZING!
Yes....We have arrived at the top. Best prog. Metal
act out there RN
Bruce Willis movie you are refering to is 5th Element. The singer is called Plava Laguna. Awesome soundtrack. Keep on going down the rabbithole with Leprous. I personally LOVE "Slave", "Rewind", "The Flood" and "Contaminate Me". The last one is especially awesome in the live-version with Ihnsahn on-stage :)
Keep up the entertaining videos, really enjoying it :)
Thanks Geebz now I have to buy another vinyl. Great stuff, I'm blown away. Can't wait to turn off all the lights and spin this record. Thanks man.
Steven Wilson - Drive Home, please!
Almost 500 comments on a video with less than 10k views... that's nuts
Leprous are definitely worth listening through, almost everything they've made has been amasing
YYYEEEEEEESSSSSSSSS LEPROUS!!!!! MOAR!!!!!!!
Awesome band, they are very unique.
Really loved your comments and reaction!
They're even better live. 👍
You need to hear The Sky is Red!
PERIPHERY. more please!!!!
Satellites, The Bad Thing, Reptile, Crush, Stranger Things....
Too many great songs with great arrangements. Misha has really begun dialing in with his orchestra work...
The 5th Element =)
His voice is insane.
The singer/keyboardist’s brother-in-law is a god of Black Metal (Isahn) and Leprous is Isahn’s live touring band. Very versatile musicians.
Echoing my peers, the sky is red
Leprous is a band I've never really listened to but have had people suggest them to me. They sound great, thanks for the proper into to them.
I recommend the Live at Rockefeller Version of Slave by Leprous.
They have their old and their new drummer crushing it together on that absolutely haunting track. Truly one of my favorite live performances of a prog band ever.
Below and distant bells are some epic slow burns, along with their newest single castaway angels
The live version of "the sky is red" ....holy crap!!! These guys really nail the uncomfortable intensity with glorious melodic theater!!!!
Singer has "got the pipes!"
Another bands that I recommend you is: Caligula horse, Agent Fresco, this second one is more alternative
Leprous!!! Thank you sir!
I too have never heard this. Doing a deeper dive this evening. Aloha, Geebz!
How's that deep dive going?
@@matthewbehr5725 i actually drove around listening on spotify with the fiance tonight... she was like, "what the hell is this!?!" I said, "right!!!"
@@derricktipps9867 It's sooo good.
I think why you’re reminded of that scene in the 5th element is because this song (band) sound very alien-like. Like music from another world. The band Sigur Ros has the same vibe.
The fifth element! Great movie and yeah I know exactly the scene you're talking about! Beautiful alien singing.
Katatonia - Leaders, The Longest Year, Second, Decima...
THE SKY IS RED and BONNEVILLE is another two great song from leprous for the future
