Ideally, Lay Your Ghosts To Rest from that same performance if he feels like buying the full video to review that, so we can hear the BEAUTIFUL orchestral pit accompaniment along to the soaring chorus, but anything from the Fidelitorium is perfect for this channel
Top 5 show that I've been to. I wish I soaked it in more but I was only 21 when that album came out so I didn't really know what I was experiencing at the time
@@punker-gamer-trucker-guy I was at the colors live dvd shoot show, and I've seen them perform parallax 1 and 2 live, and I have to disagree with you. That colors live set was something special that I can't really tangibly explain. Between the atmosphere and the near flawless 2 set performance, it was by far the best live show I've experienced (there were also two big parts cut out of the second set in the dvd). As far as just the recordings go, the way they approached the fidelitorium performance was magical in a way that can't be reproduced in a live concert setting, so it's hard to compare the two.
The vocalist Tommy Rogers, plays the keyboard. These guys are amazing. Their live performances sound just as good as their studio recording! I never miss a show when they come to town. I'm still here!

I think what may be one of the most impressive things about BTBAM is how flawlessly they play their songs live. It's amazing music to listen to, but it's even better to watch.
Yeah it is actually hard to comprehend how skilled they are until you see them pull it off live. I mean what the fuck. I once tried to learn one of their songs and only got through like the first riff barely.
Last time I saw them was when they Toured with The Dear Hunter and they closed their set with Silent Flight Parliament. That was one of the best sets I've ever seen.
I've only seen them once but they played close to two hours with a set containing tracks from all of their records. Insane. Can't wait for their new album this year :D My favourite band of all time.

Thanks for checking these guys out! This is a band for people who just plain like music. There is something in their music for everyone. They effortlessly blend genres and create epics like no other band and no one song is the same.
Between the Buried and Me has a pretty big and long backlog of stuff. And I do mean long. I remember trying to listen to their albums on the bus ride to school, and it usually took two or three complete rides to/from school to home to get through a whole album, back in the mid 2000s when Alaska came out. Definitely looking forward to more reactions and analysis to these guys.

Really glad to have you come to them. Awesome band. EDIT: Other tracks not so intensive in arrangements? This one's probably their most generic single lol. Do Ants of the Sky!
Everyone in the band is a great musician, and I've learned a lot just from listening to them the past 15 years (wow, didn't realize it's been that long)... you can go back and listen to a song for the 50th time and still find new things to appreciate. Also, still here. :)
Hey Geebz there has been a hankering for a full album version of this kind of reaction to Colors from Between the Buried and me, and noone has ever done it. You'd be doing a huge service to the fandom. Reason being, Colors is 8 tracks, but 1 long contiguous musical thought (aka song). There are callbacks throughout the entire album from one track to the next, culminating in a giant medley of a finale which calls forth direct motifs from earlier in the album, and extended/altered variations on prior sections. A reaction to Colors would be epic, and much appreciated.
This is my favorite band of all time and I'm so glad you liked them and get a chance to discover their amazing collection. If I had to digest anything it would neewer the full Colors album. Masterpiece!
I'm still here! Love your videos. I don't really get into reaction videos. But as a musician, I really appreciate your perspective. It gives me a chance to listen with a new, decomposing, set of ears! :) Thank you.
I'm definitely still here, lol. Really like this video. I like that you stop and talk about your views as a composer, and very eloquently too. Usually watching reactions is just seeing someone silently stare at a screen so this is a really good surprise.
Absolutely love this band I'd recommend listening to this entire album in one sitting. It's a concept album that build up to a grand finale of a song that uses little bits of just about every song on the album. It's by far my favourite album of theirs and I'm super happy to see how much you enjoy them too! Looking forward to what you have to say on more of their songs!
Awesome review! This is a truly phenomenal band! Their music has evolved so much over the past 20 years, but I think this is the perfect starting point for anyone who has never heard them before.
This video is amazing! I fell in love with BTBAM back in high school while doing Higher Music. I used to hate screaming vocals, but the utter skill of merging the harmonies, tempos and styles had my nerdy music heart fall in love with the band. I'm still guilty of singing along to the music more than the vocals, but it's so rare to find a band where every single instrument that they use have their moments in the spotlight. Lockdown has introduced me to my fellow BTBAM fans and they're all wonderful. Blake (the drummer) does requests every Tuesday and Thursday on Twitch (www.twitch.tv/blakeyeatsteaky) and I highly recommend popping in!
I saw these guys play their album Colors back in 2012. Really admired them afterwards. Even back then they were laying down hour-long sets as supporting acts.
Can't believe I missed this! Just saw the Selkies reaction and heard you said you'd already done a reaction to them 🤯 You made my day x2! 🤩 Please keep BTBAM coming 🙏🙏🙏
BTBAM is my absolute and all time favorite band ever and always will be. their talent and abilities never disappoint or fail to blow me away. so amazing to hear a composer be so impressed by their compositions. realizing what these guys are able to just casually throw together amazes me even more now. i have loved this band since i first got into metal, but i will now be listening to them on a whole new level now.
I think my favorite part was when you said something along the lines of "I wonder if their have other songs that are more palatable and mainstream" since this is definitely one of their most "mainstream" or palatable songs.
Oooh, you're in for a treat! I'd recommend starting from the beginning of their catalogue to see the progression of the band. "Colors" is a concept album masterpiece.
First off, thank you for just being you. You have a natural charisma and calmness that makes these so easy to watch. Secondly, these are my picks for you... Tesseract: Of Mind - Nocturn (05:50) Between the Buried and Me: Extremophile Elite. (09:59) Both studio album versions.
Btbam was my introduction to progressive metal. I went on a date to one of their concerts back in 2014, and I had no idea what to expect. I was a little uneasy because metal wasn't my scene at the time, but as soon as they started setting up, I clocked the keyboard being set up and was immediately intrigued. I play piano, and up until that point, I never once considered that keys could be a part of metal music. Their set absolutely blew me away and I was a fan ever since. ❤
@@KeyOfGeebz I certainly appreciate that 😁. Say, you should give Gazpacho a listen! Especially the tracks Death Room or Sapien. I just know you'll like that. And, I've never seen anyone react to them, so you'd be the first!
Still here. Btbam ate amazing. They have three awesome writers, and they are all masters of their instruments. I still love the first album and silent circus the most. Brings back memories for me super hard. Nice work geebz.

I'M STILL HERE! This is my favorite band ever. Thank you so much for the breakdown. Them and their engineer are production geniuses. They always have so much going on but never does it feel overdone. There are a lot of intricacies in their music. Ive listened to this band countless times and am still discovering new details in their music. For recommendations I'd say everything starting from their album colors is just pure gold and madness like this
Drummer Blake Richardson has a DVD out. He takes the EP 'The Parallax: Hypersleep', removes the drums and vocals and performs the album flawlessly with a multi-camera shoot. Jaw-dropping. Blake has also done video work with Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater/Metal Allegiance. I recommend checking out the the songs White Walls and the Proverbial Bellow. Masterpieces. I'm still here.
yes fusion metal is a thing! I'd recommend Candiria's "Temple of Sickness" or "Paradigm Shift". They were a big influence on the drummer for Between the Buried and Me
You need to check out live studio version of “Extremophile Elite” absolutely amazing. The drummer, Blake Richardson is a beast

Love that you included the video with this song. Everything about this band is epic as hell
I love being able to see the reaction of people who’ve never heard this band before. This band is phenomenal. Great video.
Thanks for listening to them. This band changed my life!
Love that you finally got to this band! They have a lot of stuff to deep dive into! Definitely worth checking out more tracks to! Thank you!
Still here! Between the Buried and Me, possibly my favorite band.
Between the Buried and Me inspired me to get back into playing piano! They are just so accomplished and musically free.
YEEEEEESSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!! SO glad you finally got to these guys! So much good stuff to listen to from them!
We are still here, great band and reaction. Will be looking forward for more from them.
One of my favorite bands. Was hoping you would do Extremophile Elite live but just happy you are checking them out.
Still here
Yes! Welcome to the world of BTBAM! This is probably one of the best introductions you could have.
I saw them play live at a very small venue just a few years ago. It was incredible
I saw these guys play their album Colors back in 2012. Really admired them afterwards. Even back then they were laying down hour-long sets as supporting acts.
Can't believe I missed this! Just saw the Selkies reaction and heard you said you'd already done a reaction to them 🤯
You made my day x2! 🤩
Please keep BTBAM coming 🙏🙏🙏
BTBAM is my absolute and all time favorite band ever and always will be. their talent and abilities never disappoint or fail to blow me away. so amazing to hear a composer be so impressed by their compositions. realizing what these guys are able to just casually throw together amazes me even more now. i have loved this band since i first got into metal, but i will now be listening to them on a whole new level now.
These guys are an album band. You’ll want to listen to the full thing for it to come all together. Absolutely brilliant band.
They did a tour in Europe where they played two sets, back to back... All of their music is this nutty I have nothing but respect for them
That was 1 hell of a show!!!
I think my favorite part was when you said something along the lines of "I wonder if their have other songs that are more palatable and mainstream" since this is definitely one of their most "mainstream" or palatable songs.
I'm still here. a new rabbit hole for me as well. love you brother.
Oooh, you're in for a treat! I'd recommend starting from the beginning of their catalogue to see the progression of the band. "Colors" is a concept album masterpiece.
Man, you hit the jackpot with this one. So much good stuff to uncover from these guys. Still here, brother! Keep it up!
I recommend checking out the Jazz side project of their bassist: Trioscapes. Their track "The Jungle" especially.
First off, thank you for just being you. You have a natural charisma and calmness that makes these so easy to watch.
Secondly, these are my picks for you...
Tesseract: Of Mind - Nocturn (05:50)
Between the Buried and Me: Extremophile Elite. (09:59)
Both studio album versions.
My god man you release a lot of videos! I can't keep up 🤣
I'm a lonely decomposer surfer with plenty time :)
I’m still here! Love the videos as always. BTBAM are brilliant. You’ll have a few months of fun working through their mind-blowing discography. Very varied, technical, fun, genius writing! Hope you do more later on!
Peace. Chris
Absolutely Deserved listening. Great band, great reaction and análisis as always. I am still here, always.
Love that you picked up on the overall tone of their music. My friend always called them the "happy time metal band" xD
yes fusion metal is a thing! I'd recommend Candiria's "Temple of Sickness" or "Paradigm Shift". They were a big influence on the drummer for Between the Buried and Me
Glad you did these guys.
One of my favorite bands of all time.
