Guy doesn’t get enough credit for his amazing songwriting as well as singing ability. He often goes unnoticed when mentioning some of the best singers and songwriters of all time in country music. To this day he’s still one of my favorites and I love listening to his music.
Wow, I lived in East Orange New Jersey in 1970 to 1975. I also dropped out of school at 16 years old. I smoked 2 packs a day for four years and stopped when I was pregnant. Didn't start back but it wasn't easy. I'm much younger than him. I followed his music and shows. Thanks for the video and memories.
Eddie was a major force in BOTH Country and pop music. His voice, stage presence and musicianship remain unmatched. I agree totally that he didn’t get the credit he deserved as a songwriter and performing. As a former disc jockey, I never had the opportunity to meet him, but I heard from more than a few people that he was kind and endearing person. His music will live on forever and bring smiles to us all with his talent. Miss you, Eddie!
Wow! I had no idea that he passed away shortly after I saw him in concert in Nevada (State Line) around 1996. R.I.P. Mr. Eddie Rabbit. A really great song writer and performer!
My first concert. Eddie Rabbitt and The Righteous Brothers(circa 1983) I remember The Righteous Brothers( I’m assuming the bass in their voice) being so loud, I covered my ears in my Aunts and Moms lap. But boy oh boy when Eddie took the stage I was smitten with him and music! My dear Momma loved Eddie Rabbit and now both of them have passed on. I love coming across this stuff because it reminds me of days gone by and my dear Momma! ❤ 7:04
Christie thanks for sharing. The bass voice was Bill Medley. It is famous for that bass voice. I would be sad if i didn't get to see Crystal Gayle either.
I worked many years for Eddie. There are several things tht are faults in this video starting with his Fathers name. He was very good to my kids & I. His Dad THOMAS EDWARD lived in our home til he passed. We miss Eddie so very much & will forever miss him.
Hi Paul, Greetings from Ireland. Eddie was called after my father Edward, aka Ned, who was Tommy's brother. I'm also Edward but known as Eamon. I worked in Greensboro NC in 1977 for 4 months. I got to Nashville one W/E, met his Mom and visited Uncle Tommy in a hospital in Murfreesboro after a car crash. Nice to see this piece even if not 💯 per cent. Times were different then, money scarce, no mobile phones etc. Love to exchange info. Rgds, Eamon Rabbitt
What about his hit songs "I can't help myself" and "We can't go on living like this". I remeber hearing these two songs played on the radio many times over
As a kid in the early 90's I rode my big wheel in the driveway. We blared his music. To surprise me my parents took me to one of his concerts in Youngstown, Ohio where I got to meet him. He died the following year. So many memories that mean so much.
I was thinking about my dad's favorite song when I began researching Eddie Rabbitt. His was Elvis singing Kentucky Rain. I would have to say I am partial to Every Which Way But Loose.
@@CMSProductions Dig that. Hey Dave, Would southern R & B stars make the "country" cut ? What about guys like Robert Johnson, Leadbelly, Little Richard, Otis Redding, Charlie Pride, etc... Also, not that this matters. But George Jones is my new favorite. Have you ever seen the "Only prettier" official video from Miranda Lambert ? Totally wood producing. Just a thought on the R & B dudes
@@CMSProductions Oh yeah, the two banjo Jagoffs from "Deliverance" Scruggs and Earl or whatever LOL.. JK on the jagoff part. I'm sure they are/were cool guys
The youngsters in here probably don't remember Harlan Howard. Harlan wrote more than 4000 songs and 100 of them cracked the top 10. Now how's that for song writing I bought my gf an Eddie Rabbitt album for her birthday and it made her day.
You failed to mention how may future song writers Harlan Howard helped to begin their careers. Everything else i agree with you 1000% except the part about your girlfriend. I didn't know her. I will have to do an upcoming video on him. What do you think Jason, should I?
My sub ten year old self was a big Eddie fan, before I went rock and metal in my tastes, which still last to this day. Still a soft spot for Eddie tunes tho...the little headline "Rabbitt bitten' by monkey" is something else LOL
I loved this one Dave. I knew "drivin' my life away" and Rainy Night, But I never knew he wrote Kentucky Rain. One of my Elvis favorites. Seemed like a very decent man. Sorry it took me awhile to get to this. Selling my house. Thanks for the upload, my friend !
Why isn't he noticed in his beautiful music's that he wrote and sung it doesn't make any sense because he should be in the fame as well as other country singers unfair to him y'all should be ashamed of yourself
I don't know how he could have been compared to Elvis Presley. Eddie was a proficient guitarist and a brilliant songwriter. Elvis was neither of those things. Elvis was a performer - not a musician or songwriter. Eddie, on the other hand, had real chops as a singer, player, songwriter - AND performer. He was the real deal.
@CMSProductions . . . i was the vocal arranger and writer of the horn charts for an Elvis tribute show that toured Canada in 1979 and '80. A lot of research went into the project - and I have to say the more I learned about Elvis - the less impressed I was. Admittedly - I was observing from a player's POV - not that of a fan. On the other hand - Eddie Rabbit was a singer, songwriter, musician and performer - and a solid family man who was also invested in his community. Like Canadian Michael Buble - he stopped his career when his son was sick - and he supported various groups who were working for cures - or at least better treatment - for serious illnesses. He was simply an admirable man on so many levels. Although his songs are STILL covered by every Country band - from Legions to 'A' rooms to concert halls - It was just rotten that he walked on so young. (PS - I was a Gene Vincent fan.)
The ability of Mr. Rabbitt to crossover from country to pop, shows what a talented man he is. Some of his domes can be considered love songs too. What a brilliant singer and songwriters. Had he lived longer, he would have influenced much more artists to be successful crossover stars
