I love rainy nights, too, the excitement of thunder/lightening, possibly, and just the soothing sounds of the rain. This song got me up, dancing, again, and I'm 67! :- )
The stories really make me miss Eddie. It's true about the singer impersonations. I remember one night on the bus Eddie singing some George Jones and then Dean Martin, complete with the drunkin mannerisms and nailed them both! Hugely talented guy, and very missed
“Rainy Night” is one of my favorite country songs. The guitar solo is one of the best ever created. Who the heck played that? I’ve been researching and trying to find out who.
Should be Lee Garner, here's a little article: www.google.com/amp/s/www.rrstar.com/news/20180810/from-old-pine-rocker-freeport-musician-recalls-nashville-career-part-two%3ftemplate=ampart
The song takes me back to when I was little. As a kid, having somebody older, that's not a popstar sing a song is somehow just so grown-up and classy and fancy. You imagine people dressed up (in this case pressed jeans, a shirt and a nice sweater for the men, preppy lady dressed like Blair Warner, early 80s style). And you imagine them going out for dinner and drinks and dancing with friends. I miss those simple days when people still had class, men looked like men and women looked like women. Now women dress and look like Booger from Revenge of the Nerds and Popeye with all their ugly tattoos.
I love that song & Eddie. I love hearing his friends talk about Eddie & the songs history. Looking bad now he resembled Cat Stevens. Chris Cornell also looked like Eddie a bit.
Why doesn't anyone ever sing or record many of these songs that Even and Eddie wrote and recorded. What happened? Did all these songs just die with him?
@1:35-1:40 Even specifically states the origin of the inspiration for this song. Interviewers (THIS PERSON)who do not pay attention to what the interviewee is say are a extremely annoying. He asks later starting at 2:49 about this... LISTEN that question was already answered.
His Editor, "Edith Binker", could have done a better job. In Her defense, she was caught, in a Rainstorm, with her Pants, down, Pooping, in the Woods, hence, the shitty Editing job. "Those were the Rainy Days." Edith Binker

I did a tap dance to I Love a Rainy Night when I was 11. I had to have heard that song hundreds of times. I NEVER got sick of it. I still love it.
I love that story. We must be the same age. 🌻
This is my favorite song. How cool to hear the story behind it.
Cool to hear how this song came together! Great song!

Eddie Rabbitt was born in Brooklyn ,,,so was the great Harry Nilsson
This was the first Eddie song I heard.
That was incredible. What a legend. Is Even Stevens still playing in 2024?

In case anybody has a trouble finding a picture of Mr. rabbit
How many other great country stars were born in Brooklyn?
How is Eddie Rabbitt not in the Country Music Hall of Fame?
Is my favorite
Eddie Rabbitt is my favorite country singer
no song swings harder in any genre than 'but on second thought"

@Frank Converse One of the guys in his band was in my HS class. He's back in town, maybe I could ask him if I see him around!
I cover his songs often at my gigs! Great stuff, he was very underrated.
Love to hear all about the days w Eddie Rabbitt Even Steven’s and David Malloy
how can anyone put dislike on the video?

I think the interviewer had I Love a Rainy Night confused with Drivin my life away.

Oh Johnny Cash, but not as Eddy
Forgot about Even Stevens, I believe he wrote songs for Dr. Hook and several others, very prolific and good songwriter.
Heroin took its toll on this guy.
What guy?
