    I recently texlaxed back in October of this year and I love it! I’ve been natural for years and would never wear my hair out. I always had it in weave simply Bc I couldn’t manage it or humidity would always mess up my styles. I enjoy your videos 💕

      Jada Jones hey! And I put it all over my hair from roots to tips, i didn’t let it stay in long, 6 mins max for me. Depending on how fine or thick your hair is depends on how long you may want to leave it in. If you decide to texlax I hope it goes well for you!

    I have been getting my hair texlaxed for about 4 years because I had corn rows all my life and I was bored of them so I begged my mum to let me have my hair out in an Afro but she thought it would be hard for me to manage so we went to the hairdressers and I got my hair texlaxed! It looked great at first as my texlaxed hair was down to my waist but I got my hair cut every couple months and it got cut faster than it grew so now my hair is shoulder length and the ends of my hair are more frizzy than other parts so I guess it needs cutting again which sucks cos I was trying to grow my hair again lol

    I know this may sound crazy but I’m lopo so before I returned to natural I could leave the relaxer on for the recommended time (and then some), and I would be texlaxed at best. This was before texlax if was a thing.
    I started warming my relaxer. 20 seconds in the microwave then applying it, because heat is low porosity’s best friend. Well IT WORKED! My hair got bone straight, who knew!

    My reservations are having inconsistent textures, Will that damage your hair, or pose a problem? I've been texlaxed since September of last year, my biggest challenge is having the hairdressers wash my relaxer out after 15 minutes, they keep insisting that it needs to go longer and so my relaxer stays in for a little over 15 minutes each time.
    Also, since i started texlaxing , my roots get a lot thicker more quickly so its harder to manage.. braids help to grow my hair but tears away my hairline, what other protective styles can i use?

    • @TheSub2rainen
      @TheSub2rainen 4 роки тому

      You have to explain texlaxing to the stylist and/or find one who is on board. I only have one I trust with chemicals, and she’s on the other side of the country, so I do my own. The last person I tried a couple times, but when she relaxed, she decided to reprocess and overprocess. I lost my curls and half my hair. One thing I read people on Long Hair Care Forum say they do is use a strong protein a day or two before a relaxer, either Aphoghee 2 step or K-Pak. I haven’t tried that, since I do my own. Your roots are going to seem thicker, since the curls are full strength! My hair does better when I relax every 6-8 weeks, in spite of common advice being to stretch for 3, 4, 6, or even 12 months. My hair is very thick and grows fast, so it’s a nightmare if I go longer. You get to know what your hair likes over time.

    Why do you use relaxer vs texturizer in your hair? Can I use a texturizer after I've used a relaxer to texturize my hair?

    • @AlexisKimberlyy
      @AlexisKimberlyy  5 років тому

      So, to your first question, I have no real preference for relaxers over texturizers. I grew up on the Design Essentials line and have used their relaxer for years, so that's just been my go-to. It's better to stick to the same relaxer/texturizer every service so that you know exactly what to expect each time you go for a touch-up. As to your second question, yes you can use a texturizer to your new growth after the relaxer, so long as the same active ingredient (i.e., sodium hydroxide) is present in both products (check the label to be sure you're not mixing chemicals). But all in all, I wouldn't suggest switching back and forth between relaxers and texturizers or different brands because you may wind up with inconsistent textures or your hair may just not agree with certain products. Strand testing by a professional is always the way to go! Thanks for the great question!

      Tiapatia Lol nah it’s not weird, I’ve heard people ask that before. In theory it should work if you time it well, but I would do a strand test and ask a professional about it first. I don’t think I’d recommend it, but have a consultation with a beautician about it and get a professional opinion! Thanks for watching love ❤️❤️

      her LiFe Nope, just apply to the new growth. A texlax is a permanent chemical process the same way a relaxer is so you should not reapply to the already treated portions, only the new growth. It doesn’t wash out.

    I’m sick of my hair look like a circle (I recently chopped my hair off to chin length) bc it’s too curly. I’m only half black so it’s not THAT curly but I just want it to be loose waves instead of curls because it’s just difficult to manage.

      Rayn K I feel you sis! I had to make the decision as a natural girl to go back to relaxers for the sake of my time management. It’s all part of the journey and you will be fine! Thanks for watching love!!

    I have type 3c hair that is thinning something terrible. I’ve been natural for 10 years. I’m over 40 w/hormonal hair loss. I have cried until I can’t cry anymore about this. I’m tired of the dryness and I need a break from the daunting process of maintaining my natural hair. I think Tex-laxing will give my hair a break

      I'm so so sorry to hear that, Kate. I get many comments from women dealing with similar issues, so please know you're not alone. Are you working with a dermatologist? I just caution you on texlaxing because for some women relaxers will worsen preexisting scalp conditions. Please be safe and best of luck. Xoxo
