My hair is 4 textures, 4c to 3c (I thought the 3c was heat damage but it grew back the same after I chopped it off). I’m planning on texlaxing my hair. I am going to put the conditioner on my hair first(to see the different textures) then add the relaxer only to parts that I want to.
That's a crazy texture difference! I'm sure managing that is tough. So is your plan to relax the 4c portions and leave the 3c portions alone? If so, you are BRAVE. Sounds a little risky.
My hair is the same. My crown & nape area is 3c, the back is 4a and front is 4b. I'm too thinking abt texlaing each section separately at diff times, so i can see the diffs.
Tamika White Let us know what you decide to do babe! You’re in good company, inquiring minds want to know! Lol and be careful. Maybe strand test first?
Same here. My hair has 3 different textures, the front is 4b, middle 4c and the back 3c- 4a. I texerized mines today and i had to do it in sections so it'll all look even and the back is still more curlier than the rest of my hair and the middle is a little thicker but it's okay. All in all. I love it! I cant wait to start styling it.
I'm texlaxed but it's been by accident. When I started my HHJ I would moisturize and seal almost daily. When I went to relax my hair several years ago it barely took because I was going by time not straighteness. Been doing it this way now for several years. I had a few setbacks (Henna and tangle teaser) but I believe I'm on the right track. Thank you for posting this! It's great to be followong your channel!
It's great to have you! Thanks for the sub! I am all too familiar with hair accidents, so I hear ya lol. My hair is slow to process as well. It's really tight so 12 minutes of processing for me may be too long time for the next person. Do you do your own relaxers or do you go to a salon?
Nice! I'm always super impressed when people are able to self-relax. I'd love to know what kinds of challenges you've had (if you've had any) in figuring out how to texlax on your own and learning your relaxer time.
I know this may sound crazy but I’m lopo so before I returned to natural I could leave the relaxer on for the recommended time (and then some), and I would be texlaxed at best. This was a great video Thank You
My reservations are having inconsistent textures, Will that damage your hair, or pose a problem? I've been texlaxed since September of last year, my biggest challenge is having the hairdressers wash my relaxer out after 15 minutes, they keep insisting that it needs to go longer and so my relaxer stays in for a little over 15 minutes each time. Also, since i started texlaxing , my roots get a lot thicker more quickly so its harder to manage.. braids help to grow my hair but tears away my hairline, what other protective styles can i use?
You have to explain texlaxing to the stylist and/or find one who is on board. I only have one I trust with chemicals, and she’s on the other side of the country, so I do my own. The last person I tried a couple times, but when she relaxed, she decided to reprocess and overprocess. I lost my curls and half my hair. One thing I read people on Long Hair Care Forum say they do is use a strong protein a day or two before a relaxer, either Aphoghee 2 step or K-Pak. I haven’t tried that, since I do my own. Your roots are going to seem thicker, since the curls are full strength! My hair does better when I relax every 6-8 weeks, in spite of common advice being to stretch for 3, 4, 6, or even 12 months. My hair is very thick and grows fast, so it’s a nightmare if I go longer. You get to know what your hair likes over time.
I’ve been natural for about a year now. My wash day routine is simpler but I juts still don’t want to do it 😂. It gets easier but it will never be easy
Hahaha, I FEEL YOU. Sometimes it's just sheer laziness on my part, so I knew I needed something that would fit into my lifestyle. Happy to hear you've made being natural work for you!
Hi Alexis! Can I do more than one of these steps? I am brand new to texturizing but I am very use to relaxed hair. For example can I add conditioner to a marketed texturizer product?
My natural hair is thin and I don’t want straight hair and I’m afraid my hair will be over processed and I’d be stuck with thin straight hair and my head too big for that 😂
A lot of people who had tried texlaxing say it is tricky because it is very complicated to get the same results everytime and you end up with different textures in your hair.
JA C SA Yes! It is doable but it is tricky to get the same results if you are not consistent with your relaxer timing and stretch periods. That’s why I opted to get mine professionally done. Make sure to check out my “How I Texlax My 4C Hair” video to see my process. Thanks for watching love! ❤️
I need help with my natural hair. I was relaxed my entire life until two years ago when I went natural. I liked it at first but now it’s like how Tia and tamera’s hair was in sister sister it’s too thick and difficult to comb through.
Ralonza Teal This is from the moment the relaxer first touches my hair to the point I’m rinsing in the sink - 12 mins. So yes, it includes application time. My hair stylist is QUICK. Hope that’s clearer ❤️
@@AlexisKimberlyy Does she wash it all out at the same time or in the order she applies it? How does it all process the same? The area where she puts the relaxer first would have a full 12 minutes where as the area where she puts the relaxer on last would not have the same processing time. I hope that makes sense.
I did, I used a texturizer which by the way can cause a calcium build up on the hair. My hair always felt dry even during wash day. I had some breakage but nothing major. I now use a relaxer and under process. I don't smooth or comb it. I just add conditioner and oil to my hair prior. I keep the whole process 12 minutes. I haven't had any issues since I switched. I texlax twice a year.
If I didn’t leave it on long enough and want my curls a little looser after waiting 8 weeks should I apply to the length of my hair again or just the roots?
So, to your first question, I have no real preference for relaxers over texturizers. I grew up on the Design Essentials line and have used their relaxer for years, so that's just been my go-to. It's better to stick to the same relaxer/texturizer every service so that you know exactly what to expect each time you go for a touch-up. As to your second question, yes you can use a texturizer to your new growth after the relaxer, so long as the same active ingredient (i.e., sodium hydroxide) is present in both products (check the label to be sure you're not mixing chemicals). But all in all, I wouldn't suggest switching back and forth between relaxers and texturizers or different brands because you may wind up with inconsistent textures or your hair may just not agree with certain products. Strand testing by a professional is always the way to go! Thanks for the great question!
I'm thinking about texlaxing only 1 section of my hair so it matches the rest. My thinking is because its a small portion timing shouldn't be a problem but I don't know. I haven't seen anyone only texlaxing a portion of their hair...maybe its weird lol
Tiapatia Lol nah it’s not weird, I’ve heard people ask that before. In theory it should work if you time it well, but I would do a strand test and ask a professional about it first. And it might get more difficult remembering which hairs are processed when it comes time do your touch ups! I don’t think I’d recommend it, but have a consultation with a beautician about it and get a professional opinion! Thanks for watching love ❤️❤️
I texlaxed my whole head except for the front because I had some heat damage from wearing straight weaves etc so once I did everywhere except that section now it all matches
her LiFe Nope, just apply to the new growth. A texlax is a permanent chemical process the same way a relaxer is so you should not reapply to the already treated portions, only the new growth. It doesn’t wash out.
I’m sick of my hair look like a circle (I recently chopped my hair off to chin length) bc it’s too curly. I’m only half black so it’s not THAT curly but I just want it to be loose waves instead of curls because it’s just difficult to manage.
Rayn K I feel you sis! I had to make the decision as a natural girl to go back to relaxers for the sake of my time management. It’s all part of the journey and you will be fine! Thanks for watching love!!

I'm so so sorry to hear that, Kate. I get many comments from women dealing with similar issues, so please know you're not alone. Are you working with a dermatologist? I texlaxed my whole head except for the front because I had some heat damage from wearing straight weaves etc so once I did everywhere except that section now it all matches
Your hair looks just like Annie from Outre half wig, very beautiful
Massiah Meusa it does! I love my Annie half wig
Massiah Meusa Thank you babe! This is actually a wig with some leave out but I appreciate the love! ❤️❤️
If you texlax your hair will u have to put the relaxer in every time you have to wash it ???
her LiFe Nope, just apply to the new growth. A texlax is a permanent chemical process the same way a relaxer is so you should not reapply to the already treated portions, only the new growth. It doesn’t wash out.
I’m texlaxed. Happy I found your channel.
Me as well! Welcome to the fam and thanks for watching, love
Me 2 I'm glad I found it 2
I have extremely thick hair
Will it thin out my hair
I do all four which works!
Y’all I did it and my hair is so mfing manageable and pretty now. I still got my curls but it’s not puffy anymore and frizzy 🥺 my hair has never been so soft bruh what
Rayn K OMG I’m so excited for you! That’s amazing ❤️ I’m so happy to hear you got great results!!! Yessss!
@alexiskimberlyy what lip brand and color are you wearing?
Awesome video!! You look like Rihanna ❤
Can you texlax a texturizer?
How often do you texlax.. Like every 3 months or so?
agirl nameD Yup! Every 12 weeks ❤️
I have type 3c hair that is thinning something terrible. I’ve been natural for 10 years. I’m over 40 w/hormonal hair loss. I have cried until I can’t cry anymore about this. I’m tired of the dryness and I need a break from the daunting process of maintaining my natural hair. I think Tex-laxing will give my hair a break
I'm so so sorry to hear that, Kate. I get many comments from women dealing with similar issues, so please know you're not alone. Are you working with a dermatologist? I just caution you on texlaxing because for some women relaxers will worsen preexisting scalp conditions. Please be safe and best of luck. Xoxo
Gorgeous head of hair
I'm texlaxing today
Well done. New sub ❤
Shanika B Thank you babe and thanks for joining the fam!
What the chemical in your lo lye texlax?

SK E Gotta do what works for your hair! I wouldn’t call it Texlaxing but it’s certainly less damaging!

I'm putting a video together for a step by step on how I texlax my hair. I don't do it myself but I have pictures and further explanations coming soon! Stay tuned for that!
