I want more monster taming games to get popular.
Pokémon is nice, but sometimes ya just want a change in tone and aesthetics ya know? Sometimes ya just want a Digimon, or a Yokai Watch, or a Monster Crown.
I already beat Monster Sanctuary off your recommendation so I'm gonna give this a try.
Monster sanctuary is a 10/10 game, looking forward to the DLC
I wish the bred/combined monsters were a bit more unique like siralim/dragon warrior monsters. But it is still cool to make your own custom creatures.
Just picked up a physical copy of this for the Nintendo switch today. Watch this video on my way to pick it up which thank you for this and providing some additional details on it. Very excited to play it when I get home, love old-school Pokemon style games like this.
Make sure you update the game, as patches have since been released to fix major bugs, add qol improvements, and other things. It's a really fun game.

I got it when the physical version was on sale. I LOVE the breeding system and exploring the map. There is some small events you can trigger while exploring and some fun mini games. Oh and my favorite feature, a auction house where you can sell your monsters! Didn’t care for the main story tho; it wasn’t bad per say, just felt like the pacing was off and it needed to be longer to flesh out characters and the lore. Either way imo, I’d say it’s still worth it if you’re craving an old school monster collector. I’m looking forward to the DLC coming out. :D
The pacing definitely was off towards the final battle lol. I expected a whole other dungeon or something.
There is another dungeon after the main story assuming you haven’t traveled to the other “region”. It doesn’t really have much more story and only served to confuse me more. To be fair tho, i played as “the hero” so it might make more sense if I went the other route. The game feels like it doesn’t want you to choose the hero route. 🤷♀️
@@faybell5063 I know that there's another area after the credits, but as far as what was being setup after the events at the modern town, last town, and castle, there should have been more to do between that and the final battle. You really just arrive, get into one battle, and the game rushes to the end. Played both routes, and it doesn't really fix that issue with the pacing imo.
The game is definitely fun, I mean I have a 3rd run ready to go. But that sudden abrupt sequence of events was jarring. The post game story ending wasn't much consolation in that regard either, but the dev said he plans on exploring things further in the dlc I guess.
Oh really? That’s a shame, I was hoping it’d make more sense if I played the other route. Hopefully the DLC fixes it a bit then. Like you said, it’s still a fun experience regardless. I’m on my second playthrough myself. :3
The game looks great, been looking for a Monster Tamer on Xbox and picked up Nexomon 1 (the day before it went on sale feel free to thank me). My main issue is that Monster Crown is £26.99 which is a big price difference to its competitors on Xbox One.
The more adult theme does seem really interesting to me though so who knows may pick it up!

Hi, I'm not sure if you'll answer or see this, but I have a question. Do you know if the switch version has better performance and less bugs now? I'm wanting to get it but I've seen a lot of bugs reported by people.

I'm going to have to do a randomized replay at some point. I also need to do some end game stuff on my main save. I played too much early access so I'm a bit burned out right now but I know I'll get back to it eventually. DLC may lure me back earlier. Right now I'm playing Legends Arceus.
Is that for Xbox or PS4 legends arceus .?
@@lewissimmons2749 Monster crown is on steam, Switch, playstation 4 and xbox one when I checked their site. I've got it on steam so I can't answer patch update status for the consoles.
A random run on Legends areceus would be awesome, I wish it were a thing! At least the massive mass outbreaks add an element of more surprise to each area as you never know what critters will show up out of their usual habitat. Then again, a legendary bidoof during the story sequences would have been quite funny.

@@lewissimmons2749 Ah, no worries. Pokemon Legends Arceus is only on the switch. Nintendo is not in the habit of allowing pokemon games on non Nintendo systems.

one downfall i guess would be that any monster can have any stat, any typing, and any movepool. Which kinda makes it redundant when the only variation between all the mons in your team is the design/typing. This leaves little to no room for strategy and playmaking.
got to a point where I can't save anymore. Every time I restart my console & load I revert to my previous save before the one/s that I made. I'm up to the part where you show the 4th gen breed to King Dania in Empathy Kingdom (just after I caught the dragon monster that burned the house down). Is this part glitched?
i just impulsively bought this on the switch eshop after holding off for so long but i caved and couldn’t wait anymore i’m hoping it’s atleast somewhat playable and fixed now

Played it but It had some annoying bugs. It was fun but, I would recommend waiting for optimization.
It did get several bug fixes not sure if it’s fully fixed but according to other comments it seems worth checking out now
Most of the bugs were fixed pretty quickly. Depending on where you played it. Switch delays updates quite a bit so that version had bugs for a bit but thats not the developers fault. Nintendo launched a previous version of the game that was less up to date and then take considerable time to push patches
personally,the GBC aesthetics turned me off initially,but yeah,those 10 bullet points really sold it to me

I was wondering about the online, games like Monster Sanctuary do have online but the q times make it actually literally unplayable (You can look for matches in the discord server but that's beside the point), I'm under the impression that a lot of these indie games won't work well online due to the somewhat lackluster volume of players, can someone confirm how true this is?
I haven't played online recently but thats a good point.
Iirc, I think matchmaking is done via codes, I don't remember there being random matchmaking when I played.
I like this type of video. Monster crown truly suffer from all its bugs at launch.

Does it finally work for switch without crashing? Bought a physical copy on launch day, had to stop after several crashes. The game seems like a neat dark monster game though.
Yep, I played through it on my switch without any crashes.
Just make sure you update the game as soon as you can and you should be good. A lot of the problems at the Switch's launch have been addressed for awhile now.

Just a fair warning the performance on the switch version leaves a lot to be desired. There's hitching while you're walking around which can be pretty distracting although it has been improved since launch

As good as this looks, I've heard it's quite a bit buggy. Gonna hold off for now and hope it'll maybe come to GamePass in the future.
Confirmed, they have been working out bugs, but not sure if it ever became stable.
It's a hell of a lot more stable than it was at launch
I really doubt Microsoft will notice this game and add it to game pass 😅
Loved this game until it started crashing on me every hour or two into gameplay. If your cool with frequent game crashes this is the game for you basically lol.

Monster crow does have some of the best designs for pixel-art monsters I've seen. The artist truly went all out on it.

And the one reason not to buy it is simply the price. At $44.95AUD their dreamin'.
Yeah it's pricey but it may fund them to keep bringing more content, in the future to the game new monsters ect it's like smite for PS4 that's free but people buy gems and God skins because it's how they make money and add more to a free game I do understand your point but nothings completely a free game .
I like some of the ideas but heard and read it's unstable maybe when it gets more love

I'm utterly disappointed.
Its production values are abysmal.
Going for a game boy era sound design and look is one thing, but botching the interface and animations to this point takes a lot of ineptitude.

Good video. The game has definetly some interesting features, but this style of pixel art is just not for me.
Game is REALLY buggy at the moment and very expensive for something of its graphical quality and unpolished nature. I'd say wait till its 50% off a year from now when all the bugs are patched.
Which platform? cuz on switch is was buggy on launch too. Even after patches it had issues. And yes I agree it was overpriced especially if coromons launching around $20 like they say which is $10 less for the same amount of hours 30ish.

Don't buy this game. I trusted this guy and tried it put alot of hours into it even got gyn and gigadrile and everytime I save and get off it keeps erasing hours of playtime off my saves. Don't waste your time or money in about 10 years it might be ready to play, just buy nexomon
Pokemon has gone downhill over the years, get handed random pokemon & dumb things added like mega evos. Need more OG games like this.
I haven't come back to this game since that time I went to a cave and had to find a clue to unlock the exit and the goddamn monsters just wouldn't stop coming. That they literally leap over impassable terrains is even more goddamn annoying.
They’ve made the spawn rate much slower, it’s no where as insane as it use to be.
