one thing that really helped me get more out of this game: I found the standard battle theme very passive and it was killing my excitement in a lot of battles. But there's an alternate battle theme in the options and that kicks ass
I love Monster Sanctuary! It's my favorite monster tamer I've tried so far other than Pokemon. The complexity of the battle system is crazy. I love that any monster is viable in the right team. There are some things I wish they did differently like more evolutions and such but it's a very good game. I'm very glad I gave it a shot.
Stumbled across this game totally by accident on Switch when it came out, and it was such a pleasant surprise! Really had a great time with it and even went for 100% completion
I bought this game on your recommendation and *I LOVE IT* brings me right back to my old GBA Castlevania days and the monster training is fun. Some really cool mechanics in there and I like the strategy element in it
I just bought this game because of ur video and I am having a blast. It controls so smoothly, the battles are fun and the pixelart looks great to! I chose the Frog as my starter, hes such a menace
The best thing about this game for me as a Pokémon fan is that it's actually difficult. Paired with the triple battels and the fact that the monster teams even use buffs, debuffs and combos it keeps you on your toes and causes you to constantly change you build combinations. Like I went through the game going crit builds then changed to a DOT build mid way through, and I made it all the way to Vertraag and then had to change my build again after he stomped my team into the ground. This game feels so rewarding to play
I hope they add more challenges on the new DLC, although the game itself can be challenging at times once you're done you can basically 1 turn every champion and the endurance mode doesn't add much aside from giving you bragging rights. I've been waiting for the update to start 2 new NG+ runs so I can have every monster on every shift and every item maxed 3 times. And a Monster Sanctuary 2 would be really sick
I played Monster Sanctuary for a while and it was really fun! However the difficulty spikes up a lot and at some point you just get oneshotted when you don't use the right Monsters and moves. Going with your favorite Monster is not what you can do. At least not till the end. Idk tho if they changed that since I played since you mentioned the difficulty option
You might of been like me and just went adventuring. Their like a invisible code or something that will tell the game to get tougher if you adventure to far from the linger story. At less that happen to me and someone reply to me telling me something like this.
@@zerokura Most likely. I try to avoid the mainstory as much as possible and to explore as much as I can before actually moving on. That's what I like about Metroidvanias. Levelscaling makes sense but it's also quite frustrating if you just want to have a casual playthrough xD
Steven Milen just said there was going to be an update in the game again where they have they have a big tree and where it might be an extra bonus to the game. Also you should play the same monster sanctuary file you just had because there's a New Game+ you missed.
Already have Monster Sanctuary wishlisted and planning getting it at a later date. For now, I focus my time on the Monster Girl Manager instead. Which has had its EA steam release just yesterday.

So, maybe I will try it on easy. I mostly stopped playing as I felt like I was never getting anywhere and it took a long time to find critters to fight to try to grind. I eventually got bored with the lack of progress and moved on to something else.
I love the game. I'll be getting a copy of the special edition physical copy when it releases from Limited Run. I do still feel the "challenging" monsters, especially end game bosses, feel more frustrating than challenging. Monster tamers really need to drop the whole "bigger number s means bigger challenge" especially when Monster Sanctuary does everything else so right. It's not a great metroidvania and it's not a perfect Monster tamer but it is the best of what it is.
I don't think the yellow orange health bar is a bug I think it's a feature I think it's the show how much extra damage your monster will do cuz I noticed with my monsters I noticed they will go past the orange bit that shows how much damage will do normally and instead go to the yellow bit I think it's the show if you have abilities that give you an extra hit or have a really high credit rate the amount of damage they'll do on top of the normal damage more testing will have to be done p.s. I play the switch version so maybe it's just a switch version feature either that or it actually isn't one and I'm just going crazy
I personally played it when it got to Xbox game pass and beat it and I always told myself I would love to play this on my switch then I got the OLED and I'm like I definitely want to play monster sanctuary on the switch now that it's an OLED and once it went down in price I scooped it up it's that great of a game it combines both of my favorite genres metroidvania and monster hunting collecting Pokemon genre
i regret buying this game. I never had issues with battles or monsters. I got ridiculously far in the game, defeated all of the legends... My main issue with the game was finding out where to go and not enough fast travel points. too easy to get lost, not knowing where to go or how to progress to another location. I would go to a part of the map only to find out its behind a trap door with no explanation of how to get to it. This kept happening and it seemed like it was completely unnecessary. Then needing to go to another part of the map where it had an opening and to go back through the area again only to find that its behind a trap door and im not able to progress. I think next part i was going to was Horizon Beach but never actually found the way to get to it. Literally started to hate the game over this.
If I may add, the game soundtrack is excellent, the combination of all those elements of different genres is well done and the game feels very unique and amazing to play. Another thing that keeps surprising me over and over is the amount of content and secrets to find, it's crazy! like never ending... it always makes me smile when I discover new stuff, areas or monsters.
I love that this game is gaining in popularity because it does expand on the monster taming genre and shows how other ideas can be introduced. I actually got this game because of one of your older videos, but I ended up hating it and I still dislike it to this day. While I wouldn't say I regret the purchase, I think I should have waited until it was at least 65% off on Steam as I don't think I would pay $20 USD for it. I think what caused my issue is that I went into this game expecting monster taming as the main genre while the metroidvania aspects were more of a subgenre because of how it is described on the Steam page ("Monster taming meets metroidvania" as quoted directly from their page). Once I got deeper into the game, I realized this was not true, at least for my gameplay experience. This felt more like metroidvania meets monster taming instead where monsters are the replacements for tools you'd use in other metroidvanias, and that alone turned me off because the overall gameplay started to get stale as I would have to grind not because I wanted to, but because I needed the specific abilities to traverse/explore or in battle just to get on in the story. Combined with the fact that I personally find platformers boring, it just wasn't for me despite the whole pitch about monster taming. The final push was when battles started to get extremely long because of how complex the game's mechanics were. It felt like if I didn't find the most optimal way to end battles fast, I would be stuck in every battle along the way for a relatively long while (for a single battle) whether it was story-induced or grinding.
Isn't Elden Ring doing really well right now? There's always a market for hard games without difficulty options. From my own experience, there are some that sure love to say "This game isn't for you then" if you bring up how easy a game is so the true should go vice versa. Nobody's good or skilled at every game and there's nothing wrong with that.

Too late, I already bought this game on Switch, and then on Steam once I'd beaten it on Switch just because I wanted to play through it once again with the patched moveset on Ninki Nanka.
The game only got hard when I was playing it because I did not knew that like each new area would rise the difficulty up. I love to adventure just going everywhere and filling up a map.so I would go get myself a new power or monster that will allow me to pass to a new area so I can see and fight new monsters not realize that am just making the game harder. It's also why I don't like exomon extinction difficulty scale it just got to hard for me I still have not beat it since you have like 3 straight battles in a roll and no real down time to heal.
about the difficulty mode, when the game came out and this wasn't a setting yet, it was the hard mode, if you want the same difficulty than how it was first released (early access) than you need to play on hard which isn't too hard. I would never considered playing on easy, easy is for pussies...
Why is literally all the footage in a video detailing why people should buy this game for themselves spoiler filled end game footage? Seriously? Who thought that was a good idea?
Bought this a week ago and to be honest I found the game being nothing I wanted :/ only a few monsters evolve.. you can't fuse monsters... And the game doesn't have a massive amount of end game content. Lastly if you don't like a game that locks content unless you beat a boss with a 5 star rating which tbh isn't possible unless Ur stupid with the grind. Not a terrible game at all but people need to know this stuff or they may buy a game they get bored with quick like me.... I'm gonna look into siralim ultimate next. Iv done the research an it looks much better

I found out about this game from a UA-cam I watch and after buying it I can say this game, although a bit tough, is a fun game and worth the price!

MonSanc probably is my fave turnbased battle system. This coming from me who used to put SMT's Press Turn on a pedestal.

you can speak to an npc to equalise the level of monsters you encounter to your party levels, if they're lower level. this solves the grind.

Game railroads you into a path. Just have to listen to your familiars advice and have the right monster to swim.
