Using your tv time in hopes to damage the reputation of a guy who doesn’t work there anymore instead of giving that tv time to people who are on your roster and deserve it perfectly sums up the current state of AEW.

I don't know what the point of airing the footage is. The most stinging comments Punk made were that Tony isn't a real boss, AEW isn't a real business, and the allusions that they're not really in the pro wrestling business. So what's the operative idea? If it turns out Punk was not truthful or not correct about the confrontation with Jack Perry... what? That means Punk was wrong about everything? That's not how it works. Proving he deserved to be fired doesn't prove you're not mismanaging a company that's starting to sink.

@@EnterSandwich That's not how it works. We know for a fact that Tony does not handle thing like a boss. We don't have to take Punk's word for it. His version of events is that he went to Tony, Tony didn't handle it in any way, and then there was a fight between him and Jungle Boy. He actually implied that he was the aggressor and choked Jungle Boy first. If he did more than he said, then all he is actually guilty of is downplaying his role in the fight. It does not disprove anything else he said that has not even been disputed by anyone. Like, what? Punk misrepresented his role in the fight, so that means Tony absolutely stepped in and tried to handle the situation with him and the Elite before All Out? That doesn't make sense.
The only way it makes sense is if Perry washed Punk and kicked his ass or something. That would humiliate Punk. But since there isn't a single shred of evidence this happened, and no one (including Perry's own friends) have suggested such a thing happened, my guess the footage confirms much of what Punk said the other day. In which case....what's the point?

I think more people are actually more focused on discrepancies in Punk's words about certain events.
If they do reveal the footage and it not only confirms that Punk got violent immediately but also even threw a punch, that is grounds to throw speculation into anything Punk has ever said or will say about his time in AEW at the very least?
I do have those thoughts on Punk and I am very intrigued on what we'll see this week, whether this will be a giant swerve or the actual thing.
If it is the actual footage, as Dave and Bryan say, the confidence that AEW has to show it, must be pretty damning for Punk

I believe Punk did it to get some attention during Wrestlemania week, and Ary Dalwani (whatever his name is), who happens to hate AEW, was the perfect stooge. Ary didn't push back, or edit the interview to cut out anything that wasn't factually corroborated.

I think some people aren't paying close attention to what Punk said in his MMA Hour Interview( including Dave and Bryan) because I don't really know what this will do for AEW in the end because the situation with Perry STARTED on Collusion, and ended at All In. If the goal here is to DISPROVE CM's punk's version of events, that ain't going to do you any good because when Punk shot down Perry's idea about using REAL glass they didn't IMMEDIATELY start fighting each other. Perry didn't make a stink out of it until the PPV. In the interview, Punk said he was 'calm' (Punk was calm) when the idea was initially shot down, but Punk clearly admitted to "choking" Perry out at All In, so what exactly are we trying to prove here? Is it just to give people a visual on what happened since everything is just based on hearsay? Why is AEW responding to things OUTSIDE of the current storylines going on in the product?
You can't call someone out on a lie when there are two different, but related events here. Punk literally admitted to fighting Perry, there is NOTHING that can disprove him shooting down the intial pitch for glass though.

It's kinda funny that Unka Dave talked about this hypothetically happening in WWE. Can anyone even imagine this happening in WWE? In WWE, job guys would never even imagine publicly mocking the biggest star in the company, because they would know that they would be immediately fired, even if the star choked them out. 1. if it's some skit with dark order, their own fanbase will burn them
2. if they only show Punk perry altercation, and not the part where Tony got scared for his life (which probably never happened, the way Tony implied), it will only turn more people towards Punk because people are expecting now Punk to come with a machete to attack Tony
3. and if there is something which Punk omitted and it makes him look bad, Punk is gonna be off TV for months. WWE fans won't care about any of this and he has a long list of feuds waiting for him. It won't affect him a bit other than some dirtsheets taking shots at him in front of their 30-50K audience. But it'll turn a lot of wwe and punk fans against aew for a long time for being petty and doing something which Vince would've done.
Not to mention that if it shows Perry getting choked and bitched out for a shoot, you've essentially perma-buried him as a competitor, and if it shows Perry getting out of it and fighting back, it does nothing for him because they already mock Punk for his UFC fights and don't think he can fight anyway. No winning here.
What could they possibly have to gain from this? Man this makes Tony Khan look so petty.

The number will likely spike, but broadcasting the reality of two wrestlers fighting and then having 3 matches full of flips, and canadian destroyers will (in my opinion) make the phoniness of AEWs wrestling style more stark.
The irony isn’t lost on me that Tonys decision to air this does nothing to sell tickets or help AEW which just proves Punks point.
All this is going to accomplish is making people wanna see an angle The Bucks actively avoided doing when it could have been done, and remind them of why they tuned out of AEW in the first place.

WWE released those pics and video after the podcast dropped. Dave thinks he’s special Punk lied about the MRSA infection. There’s even a Sports Illustrated articles breaking down the trial. Aman lost because he couldn’t prove how the podcast had any impact on money, job status, reputation, future incline etc.
My sentiment after the incident was that Punk did exactly what was necessary to be fired because in his mind with all the backstage problems he was done with AEW

I don't get what the Young Bucks have to do with this incident, as they were part of the prior incident and not this one unless they are going to discuss that as well, i don't remember hearing them being around at all during the incident in question but i know Samoa Joe was around. If they are trying to besmirch CM Punk I would be careful, I could see them losing someone like a Samoa Joe with him and others wanting to exit the company and getting sued for defamation for airing behind the scenes footage of a contracted talent after release without consent in an attempt to defame the character of Punk. Even if what they have to show does prove that CM Punk publicly lied, it would still be defamation of character because that's what the intent is, regardless of whether they are the ones telling the truth or not, they are backing themselves into a corner and trap if they are really doing this.

This is a no-win for AEW. If it's not the real footage, it just strengthens Punk's "I work with fucking children" stance AND it calls into question why Tony would sign off on doing segment taking the piss out of an event that apparently had him "fearing for his life".
If it *is* the real footage, and it's clearly not cut (and therefore raises a bunch of suspicions about why), then what does it show? That the entire backstage crew are all terrified of a "fragile, injury-prone embarrassment that couldn't hack it in MMA" (unless it's time to go with the OTHER stance - that's he's an unhinged, uncontrollable psychopath, cos it can't be both)? That Jack couldn't handle someone twice his age that's no longer with the company anyway? Like, what's the expected outcome here? You think WWE is gonna see it and fire him? With those ratings and crowd responses, not to mention how much it seems he's fitting nicely into the new environment?

Punk isn’t the most imposing physical specimen compared to a lot of other pro wrestlers, but make no mistake: he could easily destroy the average schmuck on the streets.

If it gets a terrible number, it ultimately doesn't help their product at all, it's just another poor-rating quarter going into negotiations for their TV deal renewal. It's just a no-win.
