one honest statement by Bischoff is "once you've lost a huge chunk of your audience (any audience of any show) it's nearly impossible to get them back
He would know from first hand knowledge. He lost viewers for WCW and TNA.
@@therev_sungyungmoon24he’s the one that got them back in the first place
@@A09119They always leave that part out
Eric Bischoff definitely knows a lot about losing audiences. In fact, he is in the Hall of Fame for killing wrestling promotions.
@@A09119I don’t even like Bischoff but at the rate things are I don’t think WWE will ever be beaten for 86 weeks in a row ever again. It would be a huge accomplishment to beat them even one week because it’s not even competitive right now. I also watch AEW weekly and enjoy both shows. Tony just isn’t consistent with how he does things and it makes it hard for average viewers to tune in every week unless you’re in the niche group of people who just enjoy watching wrestling despite the storylines
“Without…you know?” Say it uncle Dave. AEDub has no draw power
They have some draws. But when Dave is saying Mariah May and Willow are “major stars” that’s a wild claim.
The other issue is, they have several people on roster that actively drive away viewers, and get regularly featured.

Smackdown, Raw, and NXT are SO LUCKY that they NEVER run into competition on television, hey Davey??
How are they doing it?????Don't they know "there are only so many hours in a week"...
So basically AEW is turning into Tna In the 2010's Hot shoting a bunch of stuff in a weak transparent attempt to boost ratings which probably won't even work
Hot shoting can work…but it’s only short term. Jeez Tony is desperate
@@todpolk Didn't work when they hot shotted Kenny/MJF in some random Collision. That was the biggest match they could do at the time.
Its incredibly obvious to anyone not in denial whats happening. TK has lost 200k viewers in 2 years, so WBD are offering him no where near what he wants/needs. So he’s stacking these shows to try and get a ratings boost.
Bingo. If there was a TV deal on the table that made the company profitable, Tony would have already signed it.
The real question is, how much money will Shad let sink into this.
@@DR.64A9Tony’s problem is WBD are the only game in town with a serious offer. And Zaslav is lowballing him hard.
It’s also got me thinking if WBD have TK sweating over delivering an overall rating average, or hitting a number by a certain date.
This level of hot-shotting is normally reserved for companies going out of business.
AEW aren’t going out of business that’s for sure, but all signs point to Tony feeling under massive pressure from somewhere to pop better TV numbers.
He came into it with a rich kid can buy anything mentality and figured hey i can buy my way to the top
Someone said TK went into negotiations thinking WBD used Meltzer's Star Rating as their metrics.....
“These are better than ticket sales dad, these are cagematch ratings”
WBD knows AEW has no places to go that are anywhere as big as WBD. WWE has the market cornered on USA and Netflix, and Amazon got the NBA and Fox just left the wrestling business even though smackdown was doing great numbers. The only place that has a spot and money to spend on wrestling is WBD. They have all the leverage because if AEW goes to a smaller channel they are gonna decline the same way when TNA left to go smaller and smaller in size. The WBD deal is why AEW exists, they got prime spot on TV

i actually kinda feel bad for dave watching these videos, as he learns that the general public is not that interested in 5 star professional wrestling matches. The general television audience wants a story and characters they can get behind, AEW does not provide that, unless they change and begin to their viewership numbers will continue to be hollowed out until they're reaching only their core audience.
Feel sorry for Dave?
They should do more promos and backstage segments to please you lot. That's how far your attention span will last.

AEW's numbers were stagnant a year and a half ago, before starting to decline where they have remained going down.
“Great show” every week Dave says it’s great show. Really blowing hot air up Tony’s ass.
Dave's quote of the week: Until you are at the last step, you aren't at the last step.
Big wrestling fans can appreciate a good match, but everyone can appreciate a great story.
Dave keeps slipping into first person when referring to AEW like he's a part of the company.
You van see Hunter slowing down the bloodline story wheras Tiny has zero idea where hes going
Yep, he knows he’s got Roman’s return in his back pocket, so he has been patient with letting the Bloodline 2.0 get established. If that had been failing, he could’ve brought him back at MitB or sooner. But now, he might even hold him out past Summerslam. Because there’s another Fatu and Tonga out there, as well as the Rock and Jimmy Uso, so there’s a lot of twists and matches they could make along the way.
And they’ve got Drew/Punk and have already laid groundwork for Punk/Seth. And if they wanted to tie more things together Heyman could come back with help from Punk…or Brock.
After the disastrous run Vince had in his end days with WWE, it took Hunter a good 3-4 months of solid programming to turn things around. WWE always had the advantage of being the #1 promotion and being an institution in the US. AEW had a grace period where they were new and able to make mistakes and still move along. But once WWE caught on fire, AEW had to be perfect to stay competitive, and they weren’t. It’ll take several months of the types of shows Dynamite AEW has put on to get back to 75% of where they were… and the sad thing is with how hot WWE is right now, that might not even be good enough. It’s a tough business and Dave’s right, once the #1 promotion heats up, sometimes there’s just not enough oxygen for anyone else no matter what they do.
The worst thing to happen to the Dub was Vince’s downfall
@@todpolkIn some ways true. But their ratings also took a clear nosedive ever since they showed the Punk footage and formed the new elite as their anchor angle. They have already lost over 100k viewers from that. That was an own goal.
Loading up Dynamite like Nitro used to do back in the day. However in those days Meltzer bashed Bischoff for doing such Hot Shot booking. MJF Vs Will Ospreay should be at Wembley.
How do you know it won't be?
The only reason that match should be advertised is if its a swerve and MJF comes out and obliterates Ospreay before the match, sends him to the hospital and pretends to be the international champion to build heat for All In at Wembley. I think its ridiculous how many times they do the big match on free TV, which maybe is what they do cause their TV aren't doing good
The story is still MJF Vs Osprey at Wembley. This match will likely end in Daniel Garcia hitting the ring and attacking MJF. It will extend the road to Wembley with Garcia inserting himself into the feud.
@@blablablaa14They have put big matches on TV since day one. The PPV's are always quality.
You can do matches more than once...
NXT beat Dynamite in the demo this week which I believe was the second time in the last month or two for that to happen.
The CW is paying between $20-$25M for NXT next year. If I’m WBD and the closest competitor to AEW is only getting $25M annually then why on earth would I shell out $100M annually for AEW? Who am I bidding against?
AEW just isn’t Dynamite. It’s Rampage, Collision, ROH, PPVs, and the tape library. Most of that is worthless but the PPVs and tape library has some value.
Did Dave ever answer any question?? Asking for myself. I fell asleep 😂
I love AEW but they spent months without any payoffs and just debuts every week. All the while keeping performers I care about off tv. They lost the fun, and the heart that made them different. It seems to me that too many people have come in to tell them the “right way” to do stuff and now it’s dropped off.
I can assure you thats not the case that AEW trying to broaden their appeal by making the show more "regular" is hurting the ratings. Whats hurting the ratings is making the young bucks and Jack Perry the anchor angle of the show. The ratings literally tuck a nose dive ever since they showed that CM Punk footage and formed the new Elite faction by attacking Tony Khan. That's not trying to widen your appeal. That's catering to the "sickos" who are the last to stop watching.
The excuses get weaker and weaker every week.
For YEARS now Dave has insisted that you can't compare AEW to WCW. Yet here he launches into a comparison completely unprovoked?!
I come here for the hypocrisy, and I'm never disappointed. 🤣
Why waste a match when just teasing a face to face for the first time next week would get just as much ratings? Honestly it'd probably get more cause the promos are what people remember.
I feel like it’s been 84 years straight of talking about AEW’s potential new TV rights deal.
I cannot wait till it finally happens so then Dave doesn’t need to bring it up every god damn show. We get it, we don’t need to do long ass segments about how important a deal like this is. Please talk about anything else and stop boring us.
It was a great number, although very very slightly lower. Never change Dave.
You’re slower

Wait a second, Davey…
You say that AEW could turn things around like WCW did years ago, if they took the top tier of talent.
But isn’t AEW ‘where the best wrestle’??
Yes it is.
The problem is a generation of plebs like you who have grown up thinking promos and backstage segments are more important than what happens in the ring.
@@simonhhthey are not more important,,,
THEY ARE EQUALLY IMPORTANT!

What is a good match I have never really enjoyed the style of match we often see in aew is a good match not subjective and up to each person based on what the individual likes. When dave says it was a good show this week what objective metrics is he using to come to this conclusion
All art is subjective bud, think he means high spots, moves n flips but that doesn't hold people's attention for long, only good angles do that n apart from MJF they don't have many that can deliver a convincing promo
@@deathmetalmadness4642 yeah we agree man I guess if you like matches with high spots then it's awesome if you don't not so much I guess is my point

The last few Dynamite shows have been great. Sadly it might be too late to bring back who they lost in the cold months
This is a 5 minute video if they cut out all the “You know” comments lol
Adam Page isn't the major star Dave thinks he is.
Dave always claims everything in AEW is "Great" and there is only a "perception" problem. Meaning fans are the problem for not knowing how great AEW is.
Ratings are down, demos are down, ppv buys are down, ticket sales are down, merch sales are down, a new TV deal is up in the air but they are unlikely to get the same money for a show that is on a rapid decline. But according to Dave it has nothing to do with bad creative and a lack of good stories or too many bad Indy guys, oh no, everything in AEW is great and we are the problem as we just don't understand how great it is. Right, Dave.....
I just don’t understand how the long term story of the friendship between mjf and Daniel Garcia which started 2 weeks ago and ended last week didn’t set the world on fire. Guess Dave is right. Aew needs less long term stories
They need Shane. He may be crazy, but they need an outside of the box, big idea guy
The perception is that tony khan is a money mark and a weak boss
It's why my favorite thing in AEW has usually been Hangman because he has a good long-term storyline going.
When was the last time, say, The House of Black had a good story? Which sucks because I think Malakai Black is really cool.
Can we be sure it's not 1995 or 6 when Billy Gunn and Jeff Jarrett are all over tv?
"Loading Up" = Booking a show with actual talent on it?
Doesn't it also lay to bear that if this is AEW's best material, and these are still the ratings, that the average or more common week to week output is worth less overall?
Tony Kahn's last hope is a public passing of the book. People need to know that he's taking a break and it's a new creative era.
"major stars"
No, they are not.
The thing is, the thing is, the thing is…everything is “GREAT!”
AEW is in a rut. Things aren't that but, but it's not very good either.
People talk about how great mjf is, but the ratings say something else....
The fact that they haven’t gotten a deal yet, is telling you they aren’t that interested
the main prob i see,as someone who watched aew from the beginning till a while aftet brawl out:
tk and his inner circle have this very narrow and specific idea of how pro wrestling should be,
the new japan model.
But this is not japan, which has a very different mindset and take on wrestling.
They are a N. america based promotion.
Tk and aew do not seem willing to adapt, accept,or even try to seek genuine help or replacement for the creative/booking end.
And that mindset is a guarantee of failure.
Its not new japan because new japan has structurally coherent storylines with payoffs.
I see 701k for this weeks Dynamite! 😂
Well, vince mcmahon booked World title matches on RAW, until WWE got noticed. Is not a bad idea.
He had stars. Only marks want to see Osprey. Vince had Foley, Rock and Austin.
And then Caroline said no, throw the bed sheet out but I just wanted to flip it over. But she said no and we tossed it. Now we have to use the one Gary got us for Christmas last year and I was saving it. All well
Um wtf are you talking about 😅
@@alphatoddio the purple sheet Gary gave us, with Amy's giraffe
“Great show” every week Dave says it’s great show. I don’t think the numbers matter
AEW has to break its downward momentum. I used to faithfully watch every AEW show live. Now I only feel compelled to watch Dynamite... the next day, and I'll quickly skim though Rampage and Collision to see what I missed. I've simply fallen out of the habit of watching AEW, which means even if they put on a good show, I won't know about it until later. AEW can't promote one show to me on another, because I'm not watching their shows live. I suspect many people are like this which is why AEW's ratings don't go up much when they do have great shows. AEW has to lay a good foundation of people consistently watching before they will see any meaningful increase in ratings.
AEW has to realize that: Great Match Great Ratings. They need to build up their own personalities so people actually care about the matches, and stop bringing in RoH and Japanese wrestlers that the general fans aren't invested in and know will never be regulars. Also AEW has to focus more on stories. Yes they are doing better now, especially on the women's side, but they need to keep the stories moving at a decent pace and not drag on like they typically do. For example, the Blackpool Combat Club is one of AEW's biggest factions, but what is their story beyond, _"We like to fight?"_ That's pretty much all they do.
Poor Dave. I feel so bad for him
WWE goes up against Monday Night Football every single year and they still pull good numbers. If the product is truly good, people will always tune in.
dave's bias is getting embarrassing by the week. even journalists have an expiry date!
When the best example you have for throwing away your big draw is from almost 50 YEARS AGO maybe it's not a good idea
On one hand, MJF v Ospreay is definitely a PPV match and it seems odd to just throw it on Dynamite. On the other hand, this is gonna be my first live Dynamite to attend so FUCK YES I want to see that shit live lol.
NXT had a good show on a different night. That’s a reason?
Fans watch whats good! Plain n simple!
All Tony needs to do is decide he is going to treat AEW like a business instead of a charity and ratings would improve in a couple of months but he's not doing that, that's just not who he is.

Great Matches on AEW
Don't care who wins..that's the problem
No way you can justify giving away osprey Vs mjf on free TV, with such a short build to boot. It should just be an angle, where mjf attacks osprey prior to the match, save the actual match until wembley.
Nobody tunes in to a weekly television show week in, week out, 52 weeks a year to see the same people doing the same moves to the same people. Doesnt matter how "great" the matches are every single week. There's only so many times you can see a "great" match from a guy before you've seen it before and it's lost that wow factor. Metallica is incredible live. If I saw them 2 hours a night, every week, eventually I'd get tired of hearing the same shit. You NEED stories to be emotionally invested in throughout your show every week. The viewer needs to be contemplating what's gonna happen next week.
There's no reason to watch the show week to week. There's nothing thats can't miss. Oh Ospreay had a great match?! Cool, he did that the last 6 weeks. Ive seen it already. Make me care.
You know
I miss early aew days those Wednesdays were a treat
What happened to making things feel important? Nothing feels important. Guys are interchangeable and boring. Cold matches for the sake of nothing. All matches seemingly must last 15 mins, which helps nobody get over. Kickout lf every big move for the "drama" then with with a distraction roll-up. Dull.
People want more than just more wrestling matches, which mean nothing and do nothing to enhance anyone.
“Loading up”😂😂😂
Tony is loading up cause his show is tanking. AEW is getting beat by a developmental promotion even with the so-called "best wrestlers" on the planet, Okada and Willy, according to Dave himself. It's embarrassing.
This is the same thing Biscoff did in WCW. To help get huge ratings, he would put money drawing matches on TV. Eric did it though to keep ahead of WWF. Tony is doing it cause he's desperate.
Story. Drama. Character motivations. Pay off. Confidence from the fans that a storyline will pay off.
AEW has let down fans consistently enough that it feels like a tainted product.
AEW production is bad, lighting the crowd is bad for dynamite, they need to use fake background crowd noise like the WWE, the camera work should use similar to WWE. They need to get this fixed so that casuals don't switch off.
They have to turn down the lights because last dynamite was like 3k people in a 20k venue
Gldberg v hogan srings to mind in wCw 2.0
It’s the same story every week. “Dynamite has been tremendous, fantastics shows but the numbers keep going down”. The audience is telling you the current product stinks.
Catering to a niche crowd who watches wrestling for the choreographed matches. Which is weird if you ask me. Who sits there & let’s a guy hit him with forearm shots or stand & wait to catch a guy doing gymnastics
The last 2 episodes have been good storyline wise, maybe it will take time for the ratings to go back up
Coming from a guy that gets paid by WWE to bash AEW online, and his brother is Carlito, the "cool" apple guy. Your opinion on anything AEW means absolute zero. Trouble makers like you put a bad name on Puerto Rico.
@@lorenacarrera246 WWE is the one with a bunch of former gymnasts. What makes you think WWE is not choreographed. Make sense.
The product is fine. BUT WWE's product is also fine. People do not have tons of free time so they choose which one to watch, right now they are choosing WWE more. What would switch people over other than WWE going back to being awful like they were before 2022? I don't know honestly. if I did I probably could get a lot of money from TK by telling him.
