Dave.. Punk didn’t “go after” anyone. He was interviewed. He was asked questions. Not just about AEW or Tony etc. He was also asked about beef with HHH. He was asked about Vince. He was asked about UFC. He didn’t go after anyone. He answered questions. He wasn’t scathing or attack anyone. He gave his opinions and his experiences. People don’t have to agree or believe him or like him. But don’t act like he sat there attacking everyone. He was clearly uncomfortable at times and tried his best to make the point that he wishes them all well, and had more good times than bad. Your hatred for Punk is pathetic.
Thank you! 👏🏻

And that’s just the almost two hour video. The clips are going to multiply that.

Somehow Meltzer thinks that the few hundred people present at the Dynamite show are more representative of the interview's popularity than the numbers on the interview itself. It was such an odd take.
Yeah but 50% of the people watching dont tune into AEW. So their crowd had no idea what they are talking about. Internet views isn't the crowd watching at home or in the stands

This is why many of the other podcasts say Dave is out of touch, Punks interview was a huge deal, the long form has over 900,000 views right now, it has more views than any of the AEW weekly shows.
What Dave is saying is exactly the same thing Punk was saying. Just because a lot of people are talking about something online doesn’t mean anyone at the shows or watching it on TV actually gives a shit about it or wants it to be a part of the show. People are so quick to defend Punk or defend Dave that they are too blinded to see they are saying the same thing.

“Nobody cares about squashes. They turn off their TV.”
Like when Wardlow was hottest, squashing multiple guys with powerbombs?
Normal squashes are great, everyone loves them. Nobody cares about AEW squashes where the match is 20+ minutes but you know the entire time who is going to win because Lance Archer never wins, or The Butcher in a solo match never wins, or whatever. AEW's biggest problem is that the shows have an hour and a half of wrestling and an hour of that wrestling is 10-25 minute jobber squashes.
Yeah that line made me laugh. Everyone knows it's scripted but part of that scripting is building up beasts sometimes. The biggest example of people not shutting off their TV's for a squash is Goldberg. An entire legend was made about his streak. You also have Brock Lesnar destroying everyone no matter the size. Long term booking is about taking people and having some who are up right now and some who are down and showing how big the top guys are.

For anyone who's still in denial, this is an example of clear evidence that these internet journalists have an unfair bias.
Because they said something you disagree with lol

sending Adam Copeland out there to do a major cope promo via Tony Khan
Punk was asked questions, he answered them in the best way he could. He didn't come after AEW. IMO, there was no need to have a Ra Ra speech, especially by Edge, who has been there just for a cup of tea.
Its so transparent and embarrassing. I hate how these two just blow off everything punk said even though there's people to back up what he said.
Holy shit , DAVE for real is defending the ospreay and danielson match being 50/50... Both guys should not be having that match, they need to be doing promos to promote the EXPECTED good match, imagine that match with a drama and stakes or a heat it couldve elevated the feud more, another week wasted for a nothing match
So your saying if a wrestling show has matches on it that don't have a feud involved with those matches it isn't good? Cuz that is every single wrestling show from every company every single week! I can't believe you are complaining about a wrestling show featuring wrestling.
Punk wasn't doing a promo ffs. He was just answering a question.
Boy Meltzer definitely found his new favorite in Osprey.
I guess Tony got triggered by that Punk interview lol
A guy cuts a shoot interview on a podcast and the whole roster and some journalists (who are supposed to be unbiased) got their panties in a twist
Pretty much the entire icw. They loved it when it's benefiting them but cried when it's not 😂
A WWE-funded podcast*
They literally ran an angle for WM immediately following the Punk interview. It was a hit piece.
@@dsadams17 You're saying that on a channel that makes it's money off of and caters specifically to the hardcore AEW fanbase.
The new PR talking point, "No one watched the CM Punk interview" ....even though the interview has more views than Dynamite had viewers 😅
FTR must be having a tough time with their two dads at odds.
They are such butt sniffers.
hard to not shake the apocalyptic, Jonestown vibe of the opening moments. Any avid viewer of cult narrative knows that there's only one way this ends. Luckily, AEW isn't currently distributing any beverages of uncertain origin; pass me a can of Woooo! Energy, would you?
I thought Edge would be smarter than this. Responding to Punk in an interview setting? Sure. Responding during a live promo? Cringe.
Obviously they sent him out there to say that stuff.
Of corse he's having fun, there isn't a boss that tells him what to do now!😅
And they followed the AEW Rah Rah speech with a bad episode of Dynamite. Fans audibly groaning at Chris Jericho. Jay White jobbing the F out to 60 year old Billy Gunn for 12 minutes. "Where the Best Wrestle!"... And the worst are in charge and booking.
We booed Jericho, because we were tired of seeing him. Once he hit the Liontamer, the crowd popped for him. It actually was a great crowd for Dynamite.
what do you expect the 50+ year wrestlers ijn aew go undefeated in their entire run ..no wonder edge is licking the marks ball to get undefeated run when he can't draw shit
Did you watch the show? Or did you get your opinion from the comments of a Jim Cornette tweet?
@@shredenvain7Cornette tweeted on it? Must have been more entertaining than Dynamite
@@shredenvain7 I watched it unfortunately.
Adam is getting paid to be a mark for AEW.
People do care about squash matches when they’re done right. Holy shit Dave just pack it up, not ever match needs to be a 15 minute banger.
I’m more inclined to turn that off because everything looks the bloody same now
what's the difference between a squash match and AEW's 15 minute bangers? they're exactly the same predictable finishes between already-established guys vs guys who literally never get wins on tv, except the matches go 15 minutes instead of 2 minutes.
@@mattb6616 not every match needs to be 15 min. Why is the world champ Joe or mjf or whoever going 15 min with dark order jobber #5? They give these guys long ass matches were they take the champ to the limit and don't follow up on it so what was the point?
@@mattb6616the difference is if everyone can take you to 15 min match then you are not that great. Squashing someone shows your level. When you don't break a sweat it shows you are much above that level
Cm punk is the biggest name in wrestling just like he was when he left a decade ago.
He made me get back into wrestling twice. In my twenties and when he recently came back in my thirties.
I can't even imagine the confusion of a casual fan when they were watching that promo
Edge doing a rah-rah speech is going to have the reverse effect. In fact, it comes off as desperate and uncool at a time where AEW needs to look more cool and less desperate.
I think it was ridiculous that they sent out an AEW wrestler to extol the virtues of AEW, because a guy had bad things to say on a UA-cam channel interview. It was low rent and corny. And apparently Dax went out and gave ANOTHER speech during the Collision taping!
Like imagine if Seth Rollins came out to start Raw, and gave a "ra ra WWE" speech in response to Ronda Rousey trashing WWE the last couple of weeks in interviews. He'd get mocked for being a corporate bootlicker, and the crowd would be dead silent.
Woulda been a stronger message by NOT addressing it. If they feel Punk is below them, they wouldn’t have spoke on it.
This promo by Adam Copeland proves CM Punk's point. AEW is just obsessed with online nonsense.
Lmfao! How much does Tony pay you two goofs?
🤣
Imagine Tony saying "you can take all the money you want, just defend my show"
Then Meltzer replies "I do it for the love of my Bucks, not money"
Notes Adam did not mention WCW 🤔
Dave is unintentionally funny 😂😂
This is depressing. One of my favorites reduced to nothing but........whatever this sad thing is. I hope the money and "creative freedom" was worth it, the end of his career is gonna be a horrendous mess.
And yet, you'll be salivating at the thought of him "coming home" when his contract is up.
@@dsadams17 no matter how bad AEW gets, you’ll never stop defending them will you
Tbf neither company really used Edge well since he got kicked from the Judgment Day. He definitely needs the right person to feud with and that’s not Christian. I think it’s the same issue when Owen’s feuds with Sami. They’ve both been best friends so many years that it becomes too difficult to suspend disbelief.
@@11sdownie and no matter how badly WWE covers up Vince's rapes and "thanks" him for his service, you'll still grovel at the knees of Triple H.
Since Edge came back from injury, I'm not a fan. First the booking was mild in WWE, but now its worse in AEW.
This speech felt desperate and out of touch.
I'm sure he is having fun surrounded by his buddies and being payed handsomely for 1 night a week, but has a fan of Wrestling, this is mediocre.
