  • 11 mile section of the BRT (Eastern Section) from Maumee to Hwy. 14 bridge (Dillards Ferry). Quick exploratory trip to hike this section in early April. The last of the completed sections on the BRT as far as I know.

That section was 11.3 miles, mostly moderate terrain with one big climb (if hiking downstream towards Dillards Ferry) Great views of the Buffalo River and interesting scenery throughout. If camping overnight.....Watch out for cactus!

just got done doing that trail and that last hill was brutal. lol im just wondering what would be another great trail to do that would be comparable.
my step dad lost a mora on that trail. hope somebody doesn't hurt them selves on it.
if I ever find I will load mine up to but I have just been to busy.
I camped just before you cross the road I think it was labled 9. I would have slept in but I woke up to 2 gobblers gobbling at a hen. and your right about the hammock. I slept like a baby in mine

I have switched over to hammocks after sleeping on the ground all my life....so easy to find a spot when the ground is not a factor...

Where is the Buffalo River, what state? Looks like Appalachian country, but do you have cactus in the east? Interesting you lighting an alcohol stove in heavy leaf litter, without clearing a space to eliminate combustible matter. Any stove for that matter, but really, alcohol in leaf litter? Fire safety is a big deal here in California. I like your Notch tent, Ive been using three of Henry's tents: Sublite Tyvek, and a Rainbow. My newest is the Bowfin. Hike on!

Denis Hazlewood Hello Dennis, The Buffalo River is in NW Arkansas...the first nationally designated river in the U.S. It's really a beautiful place. Yep, I'm living on the edge with the alchy stove. We actually had quite a bit of rainfall leading up to this trip, so I wasn't overly concerned with the damp leaf litter/fire...plus I tend to pay close attention to what I'm doing. Shame California is so brittle from the lack of water, bummer. Luv my Notch tho, great tent! Saw that new Bowfin...looks interesting. Happy trails & thanks for watching!
