I just received my first four sets last week. I'm suppose to have 24 sets and I'm already tired 😫. It's so much work and I've only had them for 6 days and I'm suppose to switch out every 10 days until my next Ortho visit on January of 2023. Oh and one attachment fell off the first night. I'm get a new one tomorrow. Thanks for the video.
I'm surprised yours took that long, your teeth didn't look that bad at all when you started. I just got mine on this week and was given an initial 37 week treatment plan. Hoping I won't need anything more than that.
I am on tray 6 of 40 and so far my experience has been fantastic. My ortho was extremely please with how well my teeth are moving. I think it’s because I am very strict and I use the chewies for 10 mins a day. I can’t wait to see a straight smile!
I got all my trays on day one. 64 trays, 18 attachments and rubber bands. 10 days per tray. I’m currently on tray 10. I will be so glad when this is over.
I love how most orthodontists dont mention that its extremely likely u will need additional refinement trays...... and wear retainers for the rest of your life before the treatment starts lol.
Wow I just got my 1st tray and there was no mention of the retainers and just how long it might take. I’m doing 10 days each 18 trays and I feel like it’s going to take a life time to be done. I’m Worried in 6 mth they’re going to give me 6 more I will die. Interesting journey and your teeth were good before I thought but certainly extra beautiful now.
Thank you! Congrats on getting your first tray! It does feel like it will take forever in the beginning but it will fly by. Just be diligent in wearing for 20-22 hours/day so that your teeth stay on track. I started out with 14 day wear. Hopefully you don't have any stubborn teeth like it did. Good luck! 🙂
Wow nice and helpful video! I just started tray #5 and was interested how you changed dentist…. I was scanned and then had fillings replaced which changed the shape from the original scan. So the trays show up for fitting and of course the trays will not sit down even after I spoke up about the shape of my teeth changed. Like you said speak up … this dentist and the assistant are talking me down saying “it is fine,” and I don’t think they want to fix my trays…. Yikes
I have 20 attachments + 4 buttons for elastics + 47 trays (47 says “47++” overcorrection)... Hoping to actually have a refinement by 30, cuz by 36 I feel like the bottoms start looking like a Shih tzu... weird.🙅♀️ Plan is to do permanent retainers, so that may be part of it. I have an appx 90% overbite so they want to prevent my bottoms from hitting the backs of the tops. So we’ll see where this goes... on tray 15 now.
Looks good. Kinda glad Kaitlyn’s insurance would only cover braces. It would not have been fun helping her with that. She had braces on for 5 years now started with a spacer. A spacer is a device they put in the mouth and every night I had to use a special key to turn the the mechanism to open up the spacing of the pallet (not fun, at least they tied a string through key so wouldn’t drop it in her throat ). She is finally getting them of tomorrow, there is still more work to be done but she is tired of having them on and will in future look for options to finish.
Thanks Jennifer! Wow, 5 years is a long time! I imagine she would be so ready to have them out. 😁 it definitely is a lot of work but worth it for sure. Hope she is happy with the results!
Did you use whitening solution DURING the treatment? You state @ 16:22 that the aligners can be used as whitening trays but then you go on to suggest waiting until AFTER the treatment to get teeth whitened so that was kind of confusing. Also, no explanation why the suggested 6 months turned into 18 months? Were you not wearing them consistently? Were the dentists trying to swindle you into getting ceramic braces put on or rubber bands on the stubborn teeth? And I thought you are only supposed to wear retainers when you sleep? Ugh what a hassle.
Great questions! For me personally I waited to do whitening until after treatment was completed because I would've had to do it again after anyways and didn't want the extra cost throughout. You can use the "retainers" as whitening trays is what I meant but you can also use the aligners as whitening trays if you'd like throughout! When a dentist does a consultation they are only guessing based off experience how long they think your case will take (they don't fully know until your scans are sent in to Invisalign). Mine took longer for various reasons. I had one stubborn tooth and there ended up being more trays sent to me than what the dentist originally thought. The cost didn't go up and no matter how long my treatment plan was, I paid one overall "fee" and everything is included in that cost (outside of retainers) if that makes sense. I was diligent in wearing them consistently but I also think the dental assistants missed some things when I would get check ups that could have potentially sped up the process for me. They did not try to swindle me into ceramic braces. :-) I was a good candidate for Invisalign so that was a simple process there! But yeah it can be a hassle at times for sure!
Thanks for this video! I'm getting my first tray next week. I will also have to have two attachments on one front tooth. Did they feel weird or bother you aesthetically? I'm a little worried about that!!
I'm shocked that you had to go an extra year after the initial 6 months. It's understandable that it's not possible to foresee the entire process ahead of time as everyone's teeth are different - but to be that way off? In addition to having to wear retainers for 22 hours daily for years after that... Do you have the permanent metal retainers inside your mouth as well? My teeth look a lot worse than yours, and yet my treatment consists only of 16 trays. The 2 first for 2 weeks, after that 1 week. At one point my dentist changed a tray after only 3 days since the appointment wasn't on my normal changing days. I will probably wear my final trays longer than a week while the retainers are being made, but that's the only reason it might be longer than a week. I'll be getting the metal and plastic retainers. I'll just need to wear the plastic during nights. It seems to me to be a pattern in most of the videos made by people going to dentists in the US that there is always a surprise need to continue for an extended period of time compared to what the dentists initially say the treatment will last. And several seem to go for the 22 hour plastic retainers. UK videos only occasionally need a few more extra trays and then the combo of metal and overnight plastic retainers. I live in Norway, and my dentist just told me that most dentists no longer recommend 2 week intervals except for the first few trays. After that, weekly changes. And the results are good. -If your teeth aren't "perfect-perfect", I don't know who can have perfect teeth. The definition of perfect doesn't seem to be an objective definition... I suspect the reason for the extreme difference in the length of treatment time - and the unexpected prolonged treatment - in the US might have to do with dentists making more money on miniscule adjustments neither for cosmetic nor dental health reasons. They make money in Europe as well, but I think the mindset might be different among European dentists. Dental health isn't about squeezing money out of patients by selling unobtainable "perfection" as a goal. I'm happy that you're satisfied with your final result. 😊 As far as I'm concerned, your teeth and smile ARE perfect!!
VERY interesting! Thanks for sharing! I was shocked as well and there were periods where I thought "Is this at all necessary??" I honestly think it has to do with the level of experience the dentist has with working with Invisalign. If they don't have a ton of history then they probably resort to just rescanning. And I know they can tweak things with the scan once they see the projection and before it's actually ordered but it doesn't seem like they do that. And actually a lot of times I would not even see the dentist when getting my trays, only a tech. Even if I had questions or issues. It could of taken longer because the tech would give me standard answers. I think the dentists are extremely busy. Probably over worked and not able to really give the full attention needed. About the retainers, actually after a month or so I just went to night wear. Lol. 😄 and my teeth are fine! It's overkill to wear them all the time. We didn't discuss the metal option.
@@ParkJunkieKatie thank you for responding. I just got my ipr and I started have anxiety and became so depressed about it because I didn't know this was what they were going to do. I went back to the orthodontist and she explained to me why I needed it so I feel alittle better.
Yes! I was also not expecting it and it's an awkward phase but it made sense once I knew the plan behind it and I'm happy with the results. Once your teeth start coming together it will feel much better 😁
I got mine in three days ago, and I’ve got a question that could use an experienced answer. It seems like a good idea still but I’m anxious that Im not holding my mouth correctly. Like how to relax my mouth properly and I can’t tell if I’m clenching. Advise?
Congrats on getting them! It will take about a week or so to get used to having them in. I definitely had some pain the first few days of switching out each set. Especially in the beginning. Your bite is going to feel off. It's important to make sure the trays are set in place by using the chewies. How many sets do you have? 😁
I’m 8 days in and find myself clenching all the time now unconsciously. I had never heard of chewies I had to google it. I got a massage today and had her do my jaw and she was amazed at how bad my tension was. So I really hope I can train myself not to do it.
My dental office just happened to get a new dentist so that's why I got a new one. It was an easy transition. I'm not sure how it would work if you were wanting to change completely. Although Invisalign would have all your info on file. 🙂
Yes! I'll be honest. I only wear them at night now. I was DONE with the all day wear lol! I just notice a little bit of movement from not wearing all day
😅 no worries! I did do some whitening gel afterwards for two weeks (Carbamide Peroxide from the dentist). And the toothpaste I use is Colgate Total Whitening Paste.
I don’t mean to be rude, but several times throughout the video you’re unclear on key considerations: what set you’re on right now (if I was on, say, set 15, it would be etched into my memory like carving into stone), or other crucial things.: “I don’t have the instructions” comment really struck me. For Invisalign to track on schedule, you have to be on top of the detail, ask lots of questions upfront, and have very high levels of adherence. I don’t mean to be unkind, but details and habits matter on Invisalign. That said, thank you for the vid, I enjoyed it and sincerely wish you the best.
Absolutely! I didn't originally plan to create a UA-cam video of my experience until quite far into the process. I had recorded some stages just for fun and later on decided to put together something. I was also very much wanting to be "done" because in the end I had over 70 sets (including two rounds of refinement) and had gone back and forth from 1 to 2 to 3 week wear time so at times it was hard to keep it straight. Understand how some of the parts are unclear or confusing. 😅 Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!

Right?! There were a lot of things I didn't know going into. The filing of my teeth was probably the biggest.
True. I also got 6 buttons with minivis (to put elastic) & filing 🤓

i just started with Invisalign... I will need to wear 55 of them :D so is a long journey for me. I wonder what are the prices for aligners in US.
