This is the only and last song I want to hear when I'm dying, I want to become one with the universe and leave the world with this masterpiece playing on my journey.
I love Tony Iommi. He should be more talked about in the realms of the Page, Hendrix, Gilmour, Beck...etc etc. His body of work literally gave birth to an entire metal genre.
I'll admit that he's not the most technical guitar player ever, but tell me his playing's not cool. There's a reason that Tony and Ozz are the guys people talk about in the creation of metal.
@@harrisontownsend910 Nah, Iommi's plenty technical. By the time he got to Dehumanizer, he was quite a capable shredder. Few other guitarists can do what his fingers do. Frightening trill speed. His lead playing is blistering fast, and yet he possesses the experience to use his ability sparingly and tastefully.
It's always crazy to me when people go, well ozzy just comes up with the melodies, he doesn't write the lyrics or music. He ONLY comes up with the melodies. You mean the part of the song that you hum, whistle, sing along too. The part of the song that catches your ear and makes you want to pay attention to the lyrics? Yea, that part.
“Whatever ever it was” shows the difference between knowing how to play a song and knowing how to play the guitar. He doesn’t have to play it the way it was recorded if he’s in the right key and following the pacing of his bassist and drummer. Can’t wait to see live music again.

Pantera does the absolute best Sabbath covers. Planet Caravan is one of their best. Electric funeral, Hole in the sky.. these guys probably haven't even heard them.
The mood this song brings is indescribable it's so beautiful..the genius of sabbath once again..Tony the master riff writer ozzy has a natural ear for melody and an incredible lyricist and ofcourse Geezer doing these insane bass lines obviously Bill holding it all together..much more the power chords this band is!
That's great insight into what was behind the song when they recorded it, that has always been my favorite Sabbath song when Volume 4 came out in 1972, just for the jazzy guitar and drifting spacey melody. And then they mention Django and Joe Pass, two of my favorite Jazz guitarists and I didn't know all these years that Tony was influenced by both guitarists, makes sense. I love all the heavy guitar Sabbath songs but thank you Tony for changing up the tempo and being completely diverse but simple. Cheers!
Greatest band ever. I remember the first time I heard their music...changed my whole existence...just opened my mind. Looked at rainy days differently too.
God bless that factor manager visiting Tony after his accident - as if he had not, it is quite likely that one of rock's greatest riffmasters might never have emerged so influentially!

SABBATH4LIFE!!
Planet Caravan is a huge trip....beyond the borders!
I just seen pantera do this live in Milwaukee and I got goosebumps the whole song
One of my fave songs by Sabbath. I totally love Iommi's riffs at the end. Absolutely brilliant!
Tony Iommi (playing a masterpiece): “…whatever it was”
That's great insight into what was behind the song when they recorded it, that has always been my favorite Sabbath song when Volume 4 came out in 1972, just for the jazzy guitar and drifting spacey melody. Cheers!
Joe Garchar this song is from the album Paranoid
Joe Garchar you are confusing this with Laguna sunrise I think. this wasn't on vol 4
MY FAVORITE SONG EVER
The greatest Black Sabbath song! This song is out of this world. I never get enough of it.
This song and "Solitude" and there is another one I can't think of, are MAGICAL
Changes?
alexs0t0 yeah probably changes
Laguna Sunrise is beautiful
Zeitgeist
@@haydenr5128 zeigesit is basically planet caravan pt 2 but shittier
Ozzy - Sings like an Angelic choir member.
Me - Cannot understand a word he utters.
💜 One of the best songs of Black Sabbath❣⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This song takes me back to the 70's more than any other. It just feels like warm summer nights listening to the radio and thinking about the universe.
Incredible song. Unmatched talent. Best of the best.
The best band of all time. the backbone of rock without a doubt!
Paranoid is a perfect album.
the melisma on the word "love" at 1:16 gives me chills every single time. part of me wishes it was in the final version.
I always did like Melisma, by The Allman Brothers. ;-)
Thank Christ for Django Reinhardt otherwise we would never have had one of the greatest riff writers of all time.
Yup. Thank You Django Reinhardt!!!
To be honest, if it ain't for Django, there is no heavy metal.
I could sit and listen to every story of every song from the Ozzy years
Rosita
This song makes me so sad reminds me of my father and how much I miss him.
Same man, lost him in September to bone cancer. Man loved his sabbath
I have planet caravan on loop for sleep. Does wonders. Beautiful song.
Never knew about the Django connection... makes perfect sense.
I love Sabbath, way ahead of their time
I'm glad Iommi had such a good, caring factory manager. We're all lucky he did.
I’ve always thought there was something so enigmatic about Ozzy, otherworldly, it’s a certain look on his face, and in his eyes.
Thats cocaine.
@@pirateradiooffroad2460 Coke is for idiots.
@@irishelk3 i totally agree. I meant the look on his face and in his eyes. Thats the look of cocaine.
So relaxin 😊
Most chilled out song by sabbath ever
If it wasn't for that person being nice and encouraging Tony to keep on playing after the accident, the world of heavy metal might never have happened
