Geezer is one of the best Lyricist ever. In his book “ Into the Void”he mentions that Zeppelin’s “Communication Breakdown”was the direct influence for Paranoid! Peace!

Interesting to know. Supposedly, Zep's 'Communication Breakdown' was Jimmy's re-arrangement of 'Train Kepta Rollin'" or something like that.

As we all love Sabbath, Ozzy wrote the lyrics and melodies to The Writ. Whilst Geezer wrote the lyrics to most Sabbath Ozzy era songs, he said he wrote them around Ozzy's melodies.
Lemmy did not write the lyrics to "Mama...." He said he co wrote three songs on that album and he made more money from that than any year he did with Motorhead. Just saying - but what would we know in England. Sabbath rules!😊

I never knew Lemmy wrote the lyrics to I'm comin home. Great video, Damian. (Dragonblood)

The Cover art for Paranoid was actually for an album entitled War Pigs That's why you have a guy wearing a pig snout mask is waving a sword on the cover. The record company was too cheap to redesign the cover even though they were the ones insisting that they change the album's name to Paranoid

Bob Daisley wrote lyrics for the first 5 (or 6) albums for an ever increasing amount of money.

I hope you know it"s riff and not rift as you kept on saying.

Listen to Sabbath's, "The Wizard". Fantastic heavy riffs and harmonica by Osbourne, but Osbourne's lyrics are typically silly. The Wizard is, "Never talkin'" (heavy riff), "Just keeps walkin'" (heavy riff), "Doin' his magic"... heavy riff. It's a great heavy metal song, but the lyrics are funny.

@@DamianDeadLove Don't get me wrong. Black Sabbath is a fantastic, completely original band, right up there with the Who, Pink Floyd and the Doors. But Ozbourne's lyrics were, often times, totally lame. But it didn't matter, as the riffs, the rhythm section, and the vibe were so great!

Most of Black Sabbath lyrics were written by bassist Geezer Butler. I invite you to revisit the lyrics from any song on the Paranoid album; there's so much story and gritty poetry focused on world war and human tragedy during the cold war/Vietnam era. Clue: Iron Man isn't really about an iron man. Cheers.

@@jorel80 I did not know that, thank you! (I should've bothered to freakin' look it up! Took two seconds to confirm!) I always assumed he wrote the lyrics, as he only sang and played harmonica. My bad!

My point stands tho, that Sabbath's lyrics were often silly, but I, and no one else cared, because the riffs, drums and bass were so intense.

Osbourne's lyrics were often silly and lame, but the band's riffs, and the drummer, were incredible. 13 to 18 year-old boys, testosterone boiling, were seriously, radically into the heavy Sabbath riffs. I know, because I was there in their heyday.
