    Every time I do a playthrough of MD, I come back to this video to remind myself how to make the most of my villagers. Essential tutorial. By the lategame, I end up with a ton of land under cultivation and the villagers out there in the fields while my character rides around the Valley leaving every merchant on the map bereft of coin.

    Great vod very informative and well paced, very few creators understand as you do how to retain intrest over a tips vod, keep it up ill give ya a sub
    Only complaint I have and idk if it's in your control but I was hit with 6 separate ad breaks during a 9 minute video which seems odd but
    I'm pretty sure that's YT as your a smaller channel but idk I'm not a creator lol

    Heres a tip for anyone that struggles during winter and can't afford good quality winter clothes on the game. Money making : (option 1. )You can loot houses in the villages, try not to get caught though as it can ruin your reputation, and can be quite risky.)( option 2 .) you can craft tools such as knives by picking up sticks and rocks, and selling them for money.. cheap clothing: (you can survive during winter with the same outfit you started the game with, but you can buy thick leather gloves that don't cost a whooe bunch, and will keep you good during winter. Just make sure you stock up on health potions, and food such as soup and bread to keep your health up, and your hunger satisfied.

    Just started playing, having fun but keep getting mauled by hog's, guessing I need better gear though I'm limited by what i can craft and are pretty poor coin wise. Started off with a wood cutter and a hunter as seemed the best way to get started with villagers

    • @SirJayWalker
      @SirJayWalker  8 місяців тому

      Lumberjack and hunter are good to start with! Yea, you may need to upgrade your weapons. Try getting a good bow or iron crossbow as soon as you can! That should help a lot.

    • @James_Bee
      @James_Bee 5 місяців тому

      Stick to roads when traveling. Most aggressive animals aren't near them, unless you're further south or west.
      The map has animal icons of animals you've spotted in those areas. Avoid the aggressive ones until you have a bow and arrows.
      Aim for the head and try to get the jump on them.
      Don't panic and run, they'll usually just chase and kill you, though you CAN run out of their "range" and they'll give up.
      If you can just take aim and headshot them as they charge, depending on your bow and arrows, you'll drop them in a few shots or less.

    good info, though this changes a bit now that we have the ability to set workplace tasks per season in many cases. Therefore, we do not have to micromanage quite as much and could build additional buildings of the same time earlier on. Often, I did not want to build multiple same buildings because of the pain managing those each season (looking at you Herbalist)

    • @SirJayWalker
      @SirJayWalker  3 місяці тому +1

      It doesn't change too much, but the Herbalist was definitely affected the most. Aside from that building, I keep everything else on annual. Hoping farms get seasonal management soon 😭

    one of the best ways to not get too many pregnant people at once is to mainly choose young men, and older women in the same houses.
    at least this was the case with the first map. a 26 year old woman would not make kids with guys 21 or younger.

    • @SirJayWalker
      @SirJayWalker  7 місяців тому +1

      The bigger the age difference, the longer it'll take for them to marry and eventually have kids. I believe the max age gap possible for villagers is 20, and 10 for players.

    You should be able to put villager of the same sex in the same house to prevent unwanted children. Did the term 'housemate' not exist in this time period? Pretty sure people bunked together on mass in those days.

    This game blows. It’s all endless grind because your villages don’t know how to drink from the well in the middle of your development (or the stream 50 feet away), pull crops from the ground, can’t buy or sell anything, and the POS game charges you in game money (usually several hundred coin) to upgrade your abilities. Just getting a bucket for your helpless villagers to drink water is a giant chore. Don’t bother buying the 10 buckets of water in town; each bucket disappears after the water is drank! F this game.

    Dude, I love everything about this game except the NPC’s, I have them asssigned to tasks that are vital ie; food, wood, water.. And yet I leave for a day and I get all these red annoying reminders of how incompetent these npcs are. Like you’re on a lake, water is right there I even have a well. Nope, they just stop working and producing anything. Is that what’s supposed to happen? I mean I did fill the 9 homes and two people per house and I’m 75% through my first year but I’ve watched plenty of vids and plate similar games I know what to do. This game takes the cake for most worthless npc’s in any game ever made including gta…

    • @freespeechisdead202
      @freespeechisdead202 4 місяці тому

      The npcs are fine as its not the npcs that do the work but the mechanics behind the game. Its all based on a timer such as ingame time. Goods are not physically produced but produced by time. I would say its the way you play the game. All npcs need tools to do their work and if they are lacking they wont do anything, or should I say, nothing will be automatically produced. You need npcs to make the tools for then npcs to use the tools and you need an amount they can keep up with. The same goes with anything they create, all the crafting items and tools need to be in stock for anything to be done. Its all about village management and how much you produce of each item to meet demands. Npcs dont physically get resources or food from storage nor do they take them there. The game mechanic is all autonomous. The peasants in the game not physically going to get things is probably the one thing I dont like about this game but its not the npcs that do the work, its the games timer. This would be much better game if the peasants worked the same way as they do in Bellwright where they physically gather and store goods not automatically produced, but that game is just rinse and repeat doing the same thing over and over again with bandits.
