I know you made this 8 years ago, but in case you’re still seeing comments, THANK YOU FOR THIS!!!!
this was amazing. I paused, pinned, went back, rewatched, a number of times and came out with a lovely zipper. Could not have asked for a more clear tutorial
Thanks so much Kelly. So pleased you liked it. Aneka x
Ignore the rude comments - they are just trolls looking for attention. All of us here to actually learn how to do this are very grateful for you intricate explanations. Thank you! I definitely want to try an invisible zipper now.
Oh thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely message and for being so kind. I am grateful for your lovely comment and am pleased that you and hopefully others feel that way. Thank you so much! Good luck with your sewing. Aneka :-))

@@elenac7933 there are absolutely rude comments. Many people complained about the length of the video and called it boring. I wouldn't say "there are no bad comments" if you only looked at the top comments 3 years after this person commented.
This is the best tutorial! I was worried about sewing an invisible zip and found a lot of the videos and tutorials confusing. This is clear, detailed and not rushed. My zip came out perfect!!
Wow, that is very kind of you. Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely comment. I am really pleased that you enjoyed the tutorial and found it useful. Thank you. All best with your zips! Aneka :-))
As a guy just getting started in sewing, thank you for the amazing clear direction and explanations.
So pleased I could help.

Well hello there 😏
@@thenarrator.9889 hahaahhahah
The best spent 43 minutes of my life - clear and patient explanation, contrasting colours, good light and clear camera angle all made this tutorial very easy to follow. No more wasted time unpicking and replacing zips for me - thankyou.
Thanks so much Lesley. I really appreciate this. Aneka x
Thank you so much, I'm going to try my first invisible zipper today
I'm a beginner and self taught and this tutorial has helped me through two invisible zippers so far! I can imagine I'll keep coming back to watch it whenever I sew one until I feel comfortable with them, it's super helpful and everything is well explained. Such a lifesaver!
Thanks so much April. 💖
I wish I had seen this sooner. As with all your tutorials, it is clear and well-paced, following the training mantra: "Tell them what you are going to tell them, tell them what you need to tell them, tell them what you've told them". You are a pleasure to watch, a pleasure to hear and a pleasure to be taught by. Thank you.
Thanks so very much. Really appreciate it.
This was the BEST invisible zipper tutorial. You not only teach exactly how to do it, you give so many nuggets on why and what could go wrong and how to correct it if it does. Thank you so much for all the detail in this!!
Thanks so much Heather. Glad you enjoyed it.
As a seamstress who has installed hundreds of invisible zippers, I can say this is an excellent tutorial for someone learning how to put one in. I don't know why, but I still get an amazing sense of satisfaction when I look at the finished install. They really are easier than regular zippers and you get such a professional look.
Thank you for such a lovely message. I completely agree that they are easier and more professional looking that other zippers. Aneka x
Love this video! Please don't take it down. Yes it's the best. How about that 6 years later and still the best.
Thank you very very much. Aneka x
Zippers have already been a mystery to me. I've had several teachers try to explain it and they go over things so fast that I don't understand it, but in 42 minutes you took your time and not only did I sew (successfully) my first zipper, I did an invisible one!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
This is amazing to hear - thank you so much for your lovely, positive review. I am SO pleased that I helped you crack it - this has made my day. Aneka xx
At 62, I’m just learning to sew, and my first project is a dress with an invisible zipper. Out of many videos on this subject, yours is THE BEST!! I’m no longer scared to death that I’ll end up with a VISIBLE zipper!! LOL!!!
redrobyn Good luck 👍🏻
Amazing news, SO pleased I could help. I hope it went ok? Aneka x
Beautiful, crystal clear video. All camera angles, lighting, contrasting colors, and placement of hands are well thought-out for maximum clarity.
Thank you very much. Aneka x
INCREDIBLE video!! For those of us learning, know that we appreciate the clear detail you go into, it makes the sometimes complicated world of sewing far easier and more accessible. Thank you!
Thank you very much. Glad you liked it. Aneka x
You are simply amazing - best teacher ever! I am in a foreign country where I cannot find sewing classes in English, at least not from anyone who is an expert. I so much appreciate your tutorials, in fact, I think your videos are better than anything I could get live. The pace if perfect for my level and I like the detailed explanations, which I find useful and NOT too wordy. You are so generous to do this for free. Thank you!
Thank you so much Patty. Aneka xx
I don’t even plan on sewing a zipper. The most i can do on a sewing machine is hem, but this video was explaining it so well that I couldn’t stop watching it. It didn’t even feel long at all. I actually enjoyed it because I felt like I was really learning something.
Thanks so much Kelly, that really means a lot. Thank you and glad you learned something. Aneka x
the best tutorial of all i have seen on anything absolute treasure, crystal clear. thanks
Hi Anthony, that is really very kind of you to say. I am so pleased that you found it useful and I wish you all the best sewing zips in the future. Thanks, Aneka

I saw 4 other invisible zippers on UA-cam, this video is the best one. Thank you for using Metric as well, for us in Australia it helps so much- even though I've been sewing casually for 40 years. regards, from Brisbane Australia
Thank you very much Marietta. Aneka x
Watching this from thousands of miles away and I can imagine how amazing it would be to learn from you in person!! But the way you've made this video is so close to learning in person! One of the best online tutorials that I have ever seen. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much. This means such a lot. Huge thank you for taking the time to comment, and make my day! Aneka x
So true!!!!
FINALLY, a video where the person explains exactly what's going on
Thanks so much. So glad I could help you.
You have the most organized sewing room I've seen on UA-cam.
Oh bless you that's very sweet. We try and keep it tidy so it's always enjoyable and clean for our students - but some days are better than others :-))!
yesss
I have been sewing for nearly 40 years but have never done an invisible zip. Thank you so much for your detailed explanation of how to do it - I feel a lot more confident to try.
So pleased.
Thank you for the tutorial. I wanted a throw pillow to be reversible, and so I ruled out an "envelope" close in back, deciding to have a zipper along the bottom edge instead. But I already had my heart set on (purchased) contrasting piping. Now I'm trying to decide a) if it's even possible to have the piping AND a zipper on the bottom edge, and 2), if so, whether it would be easier to use a regular *or* invisible zip (given that it wouldn't be showing, as in a garment. After watching the tutorial, I feel better qualified to figure this out! :D
Hi Stephanie, lovely to hear what you're making. You can do an invisible zipper and piping. It won't be completely invisible like a normal invisible zipper, but I think it looks better than a standard zipper. And the piping hides the zipper. On the side of the invisible zipper where you have piping you will need to use a normal zipper foot and sew as close to it as possible. Hope that helps.
Great video! I've been sewing a lot of years and a great zipper install can not be rushed. Believe me when I tell you it sometimes takes longer than this to get a zipper right. I find your videos to be extremely helpful. Thank you for taking the time to help those of us who need it.
Hi Joanne, thank you for such a lovely message. I am so pleased that I could help and you enjoy my videos. Thank you, Aneka
Absolutely loved this video. You were so precise, and the closeup views are so helpful. Thanks!!
Oh thank you JoAnne, I am really pleased you enjoyed it. I wish you all the best with your invisible zips in the future. Aneka
I love it when you say "you would now be proud of how you matched you plaid / waist seams" because I am indeed very proud of how I matched my waist seams 😄. Truly a great tutorial!
Ha Ha wonderful. And you should be! Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it. Aneka x
I finally sewed my first invisible zipper today! Great success. This is the only video where I had the “ah-ha” moment of “I can do this”. Thank you so much!
I found this extremely helpful because I was just struggling to put an invisible zipper on a dress I am making. I can't thank you enough for your help.
Thank you. Really pleased I could help!
Thank you for this fantastic tutorial! My first zip ever is finished :D I managed to change a really badly inserted in-your-face zipper on an old dress made by my mom in the 70's or the 80's that I'm refashioning into a crop top + skirt set for myself. The whole thing being very far from perfect, and me a beginner at sewing, I can't say it went smoothly... but after a lot of measuring, unpicking and restitching the skirt got a beautiful invisible zip!
Wow this sounds incredible, what an amazing project. Glad I could help. Aneka x
Love this tutorial - it's so detailed, I feel like you are with me every time I put my invisible zipper on! Thanks so much for making this such a comprehensive video. I have sewed a number of invisible zips now and would have had no idea without your help!
Thanks Michael. Glad it worked for you.
Holy! I never imagined how complicated invisible zippers could be!
Once you have done them a few times they aren't that complicated. Just comes with practise! :-))
They are easy to sew it.
This is my always problem when sewing, always with the invisible zip, I hope I can do this perfectly after few practice like what you said. I just want a professional finish. As always thank you for sharing this video, I enjoyed learning.
Good luck, you will get there! Aneka
Wow!! You are an amazing UA-cam tutorialist. If they had annual awards you'd be a shoe-in. I've watched many sewing tutorials over the years, many very good, but you are amazing!! So thorough and clear. Thanks so much for your time. Much appreciated!
Hi Tatum, this is such a lovely message. Thank you for taking the time to write this wonderful comment. You have made my day! 🥰 Just pleased I could help. 💛
I watched this video twice and was inspired to practice sewing a zipper on left over pieces of quilting fabric. It turned out pretty good! I feeling confident enough to sew a zipper on a skirt. Thank you for this great tutorial.
Great news, so pleased.
Excellent video! It's been ages since I have sewn anything and an invisible zipper was always a challenge. Her method makes it easier and I will no longer fear it. My daughter doesn't like most patterns on dresses out there so I have been recruited to sew a few. Beyond zippers I used to be very good. Now I am ready to get started again to custom make a few aline short sleeved dresses. Thank you so much! I appreciate your articulate instructions, great photography and thankfully no annoying background music to distract. A+++ video!
Very pleased that you liked the video. Thank you.
I've just sewn my first excellent invisible zip!!!! I found this so easily to follow and finally understand just what it is I'm doing. Thank you so much.
Thanks Drew. Glad it helped. Aneka
Excellent Excellent Excellent. I have been a sewer since I was a child, but never quite mastered the invisible Zip... revelation.. Thank you x
Hi Helen, thank you for your lovely message. I am SO pleased you enjoyed it and I have been able to help you master the invisible zipper. Thank you and good luck with your sewing. Aneka x
What a lifesaver! This tutorial was so clear and clever. I had to do the 2nd side of the zip three times before I got it right, but loved the advice not to panic and it was 3rd time lucky when i flipped the fabric.
Brilliant clear instructions and video. THANK YOU!
Hi Carolyn, I am so pleased I could help. Thank you so much! Aneka x
Thanks so much for the excellent tutorial! The saleslady at the fabric store advised me against invisible zippers, saying they're hard and never come out right. But I was making a skirt from traditional African fabric with shell fringe, and a visible zipper would look wrong. Your great advice, including ordering an invisible zipper foot, made my skirt come out great--like the usual wrap-around versions but without the revealing split/overlap and fussy ties--just right! Thanks again!
So pleased I could help Robin. Amazing news.
You are an amazing teacher. I am so happy I found your videos on You Tube.
I have never had formal instructions on how to sew and in watching your videos you have answered so many of my questions.
Thank you and please continue to share your expertise.
Hi Luanne, wow! Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely comment. I am so pleased that you like my tutorials and have learned some new techniques. Thank you. Aneka :-))
Hi, this is the first time I have put in an invisible zip and it went in perfectly due to watching your tutorial first. Thank you.
Denise Collinson Hi Denise, thank you so much, so pleased I have been able to help. Aneka x
This was the most valuable 40 min of my life. I am still fairly new to sewing, and I get frustrated often and don’t know all the right steps. I end up redoing a ton of work. This really simplified the invisible zipper process. Wish I found this video earlier
So glad I could help you on your journey. Thank you for taking the time to comment. Aneka x
I did it! I'm so proud of myself! I just started sewing a month ago (and not consistently). Thank you!
Stitching that tail area is very tricky.
Great job! So pleased this helped.
Hi, you are like having a tutor in a classroom, and I was wondering if you have more videos with different styles of clothings that you have tutored, that are on sale. I was planning on taking a course, but you are the closest to learning at home on how to sew. Thanks for you patience for being so through on explaining each step.
+Meesee black Thank is SUCH a lovely thing to say, thank you. I am SO pleased that you enjoyed the tutorial and found it useful. I don't currently have any other videos (than those available on UA-cam), but I have started to film some that you will be able to download from our website (www.madetosew.com); pattern cutting, dressmaking, bag making etc. Hopefully these will help when they are ready! I also do Skype tutorials if you are ever stuck on a specific issue. Good luck with your sewing and hopefully I will have some other videos to help you soon. Aneka x
+Made To Sew The pleasure is all mine and I am looking forward to your guidance. x

This is an amazing tutorial! Your explanations were so clear and even allowed a total newbie to understand how these zippers worked. I was able to sew a very nice invisible zipper in my prom dress thanks to you!
Thank you so much Catherine.
I haven’t put in an invisible zipper in 20 years. I’ve ripped it out 8 times I think. I’ve been watching UA-cam tutorials, struggling for about 8 hours. Ready to give up and put a lapped zipper in, but I felt my daughter’s wedding dress deserved a invisible zipper. I walked away from it to clear my head. Then your tutorial came across. So I watched it. You are a born teacher! You not only explain clearly how to do it, but how it works and some things to expect. I feel very confident I can do this now. I think it will still be difficult because of the lining. But I think I can. I wish I had found yours first. I look forward to finding more things from you once these dresses for the wedding are out of the way. 😉 Thank you for teaching.
Thank you Aneka. Your tutorial was immensely helpful to me with some project I had. I watched it several times to get it right. One thing I didn't do which caused a problem later on was that I didn't watch the end part of the tutorial regarding how to finish the end of the zipper. It would have saved me huge headaches as I couldn't understand why the end part of the invisible zipper would be harder than the zipper itself. Now that I've watched again - to the end I know what to do and will do some practicing. Looking forward to more of your tutorials. I would love to take a certificate class from you if any are offered online. Many things you teach were not taught in my current course unfortunately. Thanks so much again.
Hi Elizabeth, Thank you so such a lovely message. I am so pleased I could help. I do have some Online Classes on my website: madetosew.com/classes/online-classes/ More will come this year. They don't currently have certificates, but I can definitely make this happen. Thanks, Aneka
Excellent tutorial. Easy to follow along. Accurate instructions and we'll taught.
I searched many before finding this one and glad I took the time to keep looking.
Thank you.🇬🇧
Hi there, so pleased that you like my tutorial and I have been able to help you. Thank you and good luck with your sewing. Aneka
Wish I could like it more than once. Wonderfully explained! thank you
That's so kind, thank you. I'm so pleased you have found it to be useful and informative.
I’ve been sewing for many years and have always put patterns back because of invisible zippers, just never could get them to go in properly. This tutorial has really helped me to see how the process works and now I’m off to the fabric store to buy my first ever pattern with an invisible zip! Thank you so much for a really great tutorial!!!
I just started sewing in November and have come to really love it. I'm sewing some cushions for family members, and the invisible zip written instructions are not helpful for new sewers. I appreciate the time, effort, clarity, and advice you give, and that you have made this applicable for both garments and decor items. Thank you!
Thank you so much. Really pleased I could help. Aneka
Thank you for such a wonderfully detailed explanation on invisible zippers. All aspects and possible disasters were addressed so clearly. Feeling alot more confident now to tackle a new sewing technique.
Thank you Bronwyn. Glad I could help.
You have the most amazing speaking voice that I have ever heard. I don't think I've ever had such a fabulous tutorial in my life. This is the best zip tutorial in all of You Tube. Thank you so so much for this wonderful instruction.
Wow, thank you Cathleen. That is so lovely for you to say. Aneka x
So well presented. I wrote out your instructions. Followed them and the zip turned out perfect. and the interfacing after following your instructions on joining it to the top of the zip.
I didn't have a invisible zipper foot, just a plain zipper foot. Great lessons
What wonderful news, I am so pleased that I could help you and that you managed to follow everything. Thank you for sharing your experience and good luck with your sewing. Aneka x
Just finished my first invisible zipper, I followed your instructions step-by-step and it looks amazing. It was a tricky one I had to match a collar seam and the material was slippery rayon , but you gave me all the tips I tagged and…and it looks perfect! Thank you so much!
This is so good to hear. Thank you.
I've never used a sewing machine before and now I'm sewing my first project thanks to your very helpful tutorial thank you so much
Thanks so much. Aneka
Aneka, thanks so much for this brilliant tutorial which explains the process very clearly. Now I am ready to tackle putting the invisible zip in my cushion and watching this video has certainly helped to refresh my memory.
+Jane Wilkie I am ever so pleased that you found it useful and a help to re-cap the steps. I wish you all the best finish the cushion covers. I look forward to seeing a picture!
This is the best explanation of how to sew an invisible zipper. I watched quite a few other videos but never understood how to align the zipper teeth with the sawing line. But with your video I finally got it! Thousand thanks for this great explanation!
Thank you so much. That really means a lot. Glad you got it! ❤️
I rewatched this as a reminder and I got it right without any faffing around..It felt goood! Please never take this video down
Bless you Sherol, that is so kind of you and SO pleased you love the video so much. I don't plan to take it down! Aneka xx
Thank you. Very informative lesson. I really understand now about “do and don’ts” re invisible zips. Good job.
Thank you Patricia.
As always you’re the best Aneka!
I am so pleased Shirley. Thank you. Aneka 😃
The incredible thing is that you answer every single one of the questions I am asking myself when I am sewing my project. It is as if you could read my mind... Are you a magician? Or maybe just a great great great teacher? Anyway thank you so much for this amazingly crystal clear tutorial, it surely has helped more than one confused learning person! (And thank you so much for using Metric as well, it is definitely helpful)
Thank you so much for such a lovely message. The idea was that I collected all the questions my students had and covered them. Of course it makes the video long, but hopefully it helps. Aneka x
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I’m on a tight schedule making an evening dress for my daughter. My poor sewing teacher is ill and my ensuing panic has been calmed by your detailed tutorial. Practice zipper done, 🤞for the real one!
Yay! So glad I could help. Good luck! 🙏
Thank you so much for this video! You explain everything so clearly, that even a beginner, like myself, can understand.
I am so pleased you enjoyed the video and understood the process. Thank you for your lovely words. Good luck with your zips!
This is awesome! I have followed your instructions and it actually worked!!! My zipper is perfect for the first time. Thanks so much! I wish you make more tutorials, they are so good :)
Thank you that is so kind of you. I am so pleased that I could help. I do my best to make as many tutorials as possible - there is never enough time in the day! I still teach in person classes most weeks, so I have to fit around these. I have some free dressmaking patterns I will be launching asap and this will come with LOTS of tutorials. Aneka :-))
I have finished my McCalls' skirt following your instructions. I would be very pleased with an outcome if it wouldn't be slightly too big for me in hip area. I measured myself and size 16 was exactly my size. the finished skirt however is too loose. As you said - they added 4 inches which really is too much. I wonder if I can do something now? I would hate to rework it since it is sewed so nicely :). But I suspect there is no other way?
Anna Olejnik Hi Anna, is it just the hip area? Is the waist ok? In that case it should be an easy fix. Decide how much you want to take in and where? Perhaps try the skirt on inside out and pin in new stitching lines around the hip. You want to do this to the side seams only. Make sure that both sides match and re sew the seam you have pinned. Check it is correct. If it is correct then you remove the original stitching and press the seam open. If you have lots of seam allowance now you might want to trim this off and finish it as you did before. Let me know how you get on. Thank you so much for following the tutorial, I do hope you liked it! Aneka x
I am definitely going to try this. Thanks so much for your advise!
I hope it works. Aneka x
Brilliant, thank you! Just did my first one on my Mother of the Bride dress - no pressure then- and it worked perfectly.
This is amazing Lindy. So pleased I could help. Aneka x
Excellent video. Very clear explanations. Thankyou so much
So pleased you liked the video, thank you for your kind comment.

Thank-you so much. Your explanations helped me understand all the moving parts to place that invisible zipper.
Fantastic news, I am so pleased. Aneka x
YEEES! I needed this - Couldn't fit into my new project otherwise (Linen shorts - so comfy!) since i accidentally made the waistband approx. 7 cm too small (ooops, beginner's mistake) since they were supposed to only have an elastic waistband, but alas, i scavenged an invisible zipper from a bad pair of pants and got saved by your very in-depth and easy to follow tutorial.
Thank you so much for being so great at teaching others!
You are so kind, what a lovely message. Really pleased I could help solve your problem. What an issue, but amazing that you managed to sort it all out - incredible. Aneka :-))
Thank you so much! I tried and failed using a different tutorial, but your's is so concise that I had success. I was so excited that my zipper went in and works perfectly. I so appreciate that you really explained everything so well.
This is amazing news! So pleased.
First time sewing an invisible zipper and with your tutorial it turned out amazing!
Amazing! so pleased.
Oh my word... Thank you so much. I really needed to see this yesterday lol... anyway.. I’m just glad I found this. Thanks again.
So pleased. Aneka x
I know this video is around 6 years old or so-but I want to say thank you very much! Your tutorial is extremely informative.
Thank you, you message means a lot. Thanks for taking the time to write it. Aneka x
Yes. Aneka's videos never go out of style 😊
I avoided invisible zippers because I tried to sew one once and it went horribly wrong. Now I started a skirt that really requires one, and after watching this video I feel very confident about the whole thing! Thank you! :)
Thanks so much Carolin. So pleased I could help. X
@@MadetoSew I just sewed the zipper on this morning and it looks perfect! It zips up fine and you can't see it at all on the outside! Finishing the skirt will be a breeze now :)
@@carolin2544 Wonderful news. I am so pleased. 😀
Excellent tutorial. I'm about to put in my first invisible zip and this has been invaluable. Thank you so much.
Thank you. Glad I could help.
“Just be positive. You’re always learning”. This will now be my mantra! Thankyou so much for another great tutorial. Going to follow this step by step for my first zip today. 😊
Thank you 💖
Thank you so much for such a comprehensive tutorial! While following your instructions step by step at my sewing machine, I managed to sew an invisible zipper for the first time ever and it looks just as it supposed to look! :)
That's amazing Julia. Thank you so much for sharing. Aneka x
What an incredible in-depth explanation of sewing an invisible zipper. Thank you for bringing me back to my first class of instruction so many years past, as now I fully remember how to do this again! Cheeers
So pleased you enjoyed the video. Thank you. Aneka :-))
I love it! Beneficial to us who didn't had a formal training❤️💚 looking forward for more tutorials. Thank you and may the Lord bless you as you help others❤️❤️❤️
Thank you. Glad this helped you.
The BEST tutorial ever! THANK YOU! I finally learned how to insert an invisible zipper properly and easily.
Thanks Darlene.
Thank you for such a wonderful tutorial!! I've sewn for many years, but somehow I never knew there was an invisible zipper foot for the machine! I'm going to get one for my machine!! Your instructions were precise and very easy to understand. Thanks again! You're a terrific teacher! I look forward to finding more of your tutorials. :)
Oh thank you so much Elizabeth. I am so pleased that you enjoyed the tutorial and my style of teaching. Thank you for taking the time to write such a lovely positive comment. Thank you and good luck with your invisible zippers!! :-))
Super helpful video! I'm not even working on anything that requires an invisible zipper, but when I eventually do I'll know how to do it right! Seems like a fun thing to try!
Pleased you enjoyed it. Thanks
Man, I wish I had a sewing machine, gotta do it by hand now
💖
Good luck!
I DID IT! I DID IT! THANKYOU! NEVER COULD HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT YOUR GUIDANCE!!! 🌺🌺🌺😊
I am so pleased this is amazing.
Thank you so much for this tutorial. Yesterday I watched this video and sew an invisible zipper in a skirt. It was easy and it looks great.
Oh I am so pleased to here this. Thank you so much for sharing. Aneka x
I can’t thank you enough for this, and every other video you’ve made.
I’ve just sewn my first invisible zip after watching this video, and it’s perfect. Thank you for your incredibly detailed, concise instruction.
Yay! So pleased Kiki. Glad it worked for you.
Top notch tutorial with clear explanations including optional basting, tacking and machine feet, fantastic videography and additional tutorials for plaid fabrics. Daniel
Thanks so much Daniel.
Finally, my zip look so professional.
Yay! So pleased. :-))
I have just put in my first invisible zipper, using this tutorial. It s extremely helpful. The detailed explanation helps to keep me on track, as they tell me exactly what to look out for. I have used several of your videos and they have greatly contributed to my sewing experience. Keep it up.
Thank you very much Deborah.
Great instruction. Between your video and another one online, I'm happy to say I mastered invisible zippers - sewing into pillow forms specifically. Your tips especially at the end about changing feet from the invisible zipper foot to the regular zipper foot to sew the very top and bottom of the zipper - excellent. I did that, I switch from the invisible zipper to the regular zipper foot then to my regular pressed foot to finish it off. I'm somewhat a perfectionist, and I have to say, thanks to your video instruction, they look spectacular. THANKS TO YOU!!!
Bless you, thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely message. I am so pleased I could help you, and you have managed to get a perfect invisible zip. Like you I am a perfectionist and things have to be 'just so', with a professional finish. Wishing you all the best, Aneka x
I love all of you're brilliant tutorials, so clear, thank you.
Thank you Elizabeth, so pleased you enjoy them. Aneka
Thank you Aneka. This is a brilliant video. I don't normally like how to videos but I had to see why it took you so long to explain in one video! this is explained very well, very clearly and the videoing of the steps is excellent. You perfectly matched your fabric crease, I don't know if you had meant to, but cool! I will be sharing this with my students
thanks :-)
now, can you help me with a lapped zip? I don't do many of them. :-)
Wow, thank you for such lovely feedback. I am really pleased that you enjoyed the tutorial and think your students will find it useful. I was always worried about filming videos that were so long, a lot of the social media rules say the videos need to be short and sweet. But my opinion was that if people really wanted to learn I have to spend the time to explain everything properly and to hopefully help individuals avoid mistakes etc. Thank you for your amazing feedback. I have a lapped zip on my to film list so pleased bear with me, I will do something! Aneka :-))
+Made To Sew no, I'm glad you threw that rule out of the window. You've proven it's not always right. I'm looking forward to some more, and I have looked through the others, all great. One piece of advice you and I differ on is how we pin edges before sewing, but I completely understand your reasons. wonderfully explained and even I will alter the strictness of my advice on that. Well done!
Thank you very much that means a lot! Re pinning I am never too strict with my students because I understand that some people have been sewing for years and won't change. I just like to show the way I do it and the reason why and then people can make their decision!! I promise more videos will be coming, it is has been a bit full on this year (I have just moved house and am getting married next week), so please bear with me until the end of the month. Hopefully I will have time then to film some more. :-)) Thank you very much!
+Made To Sew oh! congratulations!
Thank you :-))
Terrifically helpful. It has been a while since I insert an invisible zipper. I needed instructions that covered a zipper inserted into a seam that is otherwise closed on both sides. I got that and much more. Great visuals and thorough explanations.
Thank you so much Elsa, really appreciate your thoughts. Aneka x
Excellent video very informative, it is my first zip, i have purchased an invisible zipper foot, wish me luck. Thanks
Hi Wendy, so pleased I could help and that you found it easy to follow my tutorial. Good luck with your first zip. Let me know how you get on? Aneka x
You are great at these online tutorials , l have learned so many things from you, many thanks keep going we all appreciate you.❤
Thanks so much Wendy.
The red one is with woven tape and has # 3 coil/teeth(thicker) the black one is with a knitted tape and has a # 2 coil/teeth. Both these invisible zipper type are available from leading zipper makers like YKK and/or KCC zippers. Both these companies provide special sewing foot for the concealed zipper
Yes that is correct, thanks for the information. Aneka :-))
I have always put in an invisible zipper without a zipper foot. The standard foot holds the tape open for me. It’s a bit tricky to get started but I’ve never had to iron the zipper before inserting. Although I think I will give it a go. Thanks🥳 I really appreciate how thorough you are!!
Thank you. I'm glad you have found this helpful.
I found out that using an invisible zipper foot is a must, as ironing the zipper prior to sewing it to the garment ruins the teeth.
Amazing, thanks for sharing.
Getting ready to put in my first invisible zipper, so glad I happened upon your tutorial, it is very clear and precise -- hopefully my zipper will now be a success! Thanks very much!
So pleased I could help Laurie. Really hope it went well for you. Aneka x
