Hybrids are ICE vehicles powered by hydrocarbons. The increase in efficiency compared to standard ICE does not make up for their ridiculous increase in complexity, cost and unreliability.
Pure EV is cheaper to build and to run and with MUCH lower lifetime maintenance costs.
Oh, and to refute Toyoda's assertions, the grids in most countries are rapidly transitioning to renewable generation plus storage.
