Newer features doesn't equate to superior vehicle, longevity is my preference because I can actually keep my vehicle for the long term.
This guy must really hate Toyota. 2023 BZ4X did well in Bjorn Nylands tests, thats why it is already the second most popular car model in Norway. 2024 model is going to be even better.
WRONG. The best selling passenger car in 2022 is the new Tesla Model Y with 17,356 sales (+109.9%) up 3 spots from last year. The Volkswagen ID. 4 moves into second with 11,561 sales (+33.7%) and the Skoda Enyaq reaches 3rd with 7,558 (+32.3%).
The new improved 4X is decent.. but it has to have a better interior against the new Byd Song L and the Denza N7...among the similar design EV.. and likes of Polestar 3 and Cupra Tavascan are also coming out in 2024...
You're making a mistake when comparing length of cars - by making car longer, the consumption can be reduced, because air resistance can then get better. But shorter car can make it easier to park (and TMY has very poor turn radius)

Toyota knows very well the car market. EV sales in USA have stalled a bit and Toyota predicted that. This channel predicted Toyota would be quickly bankrupt by now! However sales in 2023 with over 10 million vehicle sales have recovered nicely recording record profits and sales compared with the Covid industry supply chain woes resulting from that period. 2024 sales estimates are forecasted to be over 10.5 million vehicles making Toyota the clear leader in vehicle output and "1 in the auto industry. The rumor of Toyotas demise by Sam and this channel was greatly exaggerated. Mr. Toyoda is looking quite visionary at this point and holding his ground and understanding the customer shows in the very successful data and results he was right.

Toyota needs to do the same with EV's as with hybrids. Make the Prius only EV. Then use the Prius as a test platform for the new EV's. The sales of the Prius have tanked, any way.
Prius was a great stop gap and it gave us an option to reduce emissions when there was no real alternative. But who'd buy a Prius now? The entire target market for it is buying EVs.
@@jimgraham6722 Absolutely. They could have increased the battery size and made it plug in within a couple of years of bringing it out. It should have been their path to a proper EV, taking tech from the part ownership of Tesla. But they placed a very stupid bet on Hydrogen instead.
The Nio ET7 just did 1000km on a charge, using a Hybrid Solid State battery that is swappeable in 5 minutes at 300 sites in Europe. It also charges at upto 500kwh.
I am not Sure Why so many people are hating on Toyota because they are bit late on ev but try to understand their situation is well as its hard to give up on toyota engines which they made so reliable and made a reputation of the most reliable country in the world and now they are trying plus so many people still buying their products in us and Australia specially so they are not lost or left behind.
They have just received two awards, fthat include anti environment lobbying, greenwashing and according to Greenpeace pushing eco unfriendly hybrid technology. One of the awards placed them just behind big oil companies in third place world wide so quite a performance.
Not sure Hate is the right word, but Exasperation is more accurate. Toyota are 15 years behind. Remember: THEY launched the revolutionary Prius - THEY had the Advantage in technology! They SCREWED UP. But its worse than that. TODAY, AS YOU READ THIS...Toyota are wasting Millions of Dollars, funding Anti-EV hate campaigns in the Press, Magazines, Newspapers and even more insidiously, on the Internet, especially You Tube. They have launched DOZENS of creepy channels, promoting their latest 'Wonder Breakthrough in engine technology' and have paid YT channel hosts, thousands of dollars to Lie and SHILL for the company, spewing Anti-EV propaganda and falsehoods. Instead of trying to save their company, they are throwing hundreds of millions of dollars on crap like Hydrogen, 'Clean Gasoline', Fuel Cells and Propaganda. They are NOT serious about the future - and its looking bleak. They ignored every warning and refused point blank to face the reality of the situation. Within three years, they will need a massive, tax-payer bail-out from the Japanese Government. They may limp on until 2030, but I wouldn't put my money on it.
I think Toyota is doing a good job educating future buyers about how to use their cars. Unlike Tesla. There is a video of a ride share driver that had to replace his Tesla 3 battery out of warranty after about a year and over 100k miles. He was supercharging daily which led to him having to spend $9,000 on a “refurbished” battery. Tesla repairs are only possible at Tesla centers since Tesla does not publish any specification on their parts, batteries and repair procedures keeping all of them strictly proprietary. Which is quite undertone for anyone who wants to purchase a Tesla out of warranty.
This is an extreme case and not really applicable to the average user, Tesla recommend you only charge the NMC batteries to 85% on a regular basis which would have also not been followed and this built into the charging software so the customer woukd have known. The LFP batteries in the Model 3 RWD would have been the better option for this use, there are BYD taxis in China that have done around 800,000kms without a battery change using LFP. Battery repair shops as well as battery recycling will pop-up with the demand, it is already happening now in places such as Norway where EVs are the standard.
@@GDM22 the instructions are for all users. I wish Tesla had explained to the customer how Tesla batteries can be damaged, something Toyota is proactively doing even before they have started selling this new model.
Being that Toyota has been lying for decades about their batteries and continues to lie or be evasive about their so-called improvements, I think a consumer should be extremely cautious going anywhere near this vehicle. The mere fact that Toyota is not recommending supercharging or avoid using it where you can also raises a big red flag! When Toyota ever gets around to telling the actual truth with details to support their claims, maybe then they can rebuild trust with future customers.
@@marcg1686 well, yeah: Toyota have been promising Solid State batteries for at least 30 years; "Its coming next year!" they claim....as they did five years ago.....
@@swanvictor887 Not delivering on a promise is not the same as lying. Toyota has sold more than 17 million hybrid vehicles. That's a lot of fuel that has been saved.
@@marcg1686 Which sort of emphasizes the point I made about Toyota Squandering a good lead! If they had used the advantage they had with the Prius and had gone full EV, they could have killed Tesla stone dead, back in 2012 !! Yes, a lot of fuel saved. But Tesla doesn't burn any fuel at all, do they. Toyota's best-selling vehicles, (now overthrown by Tesla) are the Corolla and the Camry. They burn a damn sight more fuel than their equivalent and cheaper to buy Tesla's. Following the USA, the UK last week, launched a new kind of Company Car Leasing scheme to incorporate and improve EV sales. Whereas to lease a Camry or Corolla costs around 600 pounds a month, in the USA and now the UK, a company employee can now lease a Tesla through his employer, for just 300 pounds a month. The leasing cost for the Employer, is 100% Tax-deductible. Can you imagine what this will do for Tesla sales? Half the cost of a Toyota. And remember, in the UK Petrol ('Gas' for Americans) costs four times what it costs in the US.
Two underpinnings of the EV industry are likely getting much better performance and greater production in 2024. Batteries and semiconductor computer processor chips are improving in 2024. Not only Tesla's gen-3 4680 cells (possibly dry cathode and silicon anode) and Autopilot Hardware 5 chips, but batteries and chips from BYD, CATL, Gotion High Tech, Panasonic, Our Next Energy, IM3NY, LG Chem, TSMC, Samsung, Intel, Micron, SMIC, and GlobalFoundries are all likely to make improvements in 2024.

Certain Chinese vehicles have the performance but I'll put my money in reliability. I'm not one to invest in a vehicle with quality control issues found in Chinese vehicles. Granted that Toyota is behind in this EV area but their quality is almost unmatched.
They are ripping of consumers , such large price differences in different markets....
WRONG.
The best selling passenger car in 2022 is the new Tesla Model Y with 17,356 sales (+109.9%) up 3 spots from last year. The Volkswagen ID. 4 moves into second with 11,561 sales (+33.7%) and the Skoda Enyaq reaches 3rd with 7,558 (+32.3%).

but do the wheels stay on the 4X?
The new improved 4X is decent.. but it has to have a better interior against the new Byd Song L and the Denza N7...among the similar design EV.. and likes of Polestar 3 and Cupra Tavascan are also coming out in 2024...

Isn't 4X an Australian beer?
is there a 2 year wait time for delivery if I order one now?
Please consider a tesla, you will not regret it.
If you're lucky, they would never deliver you one. ( I think Toyota don't take EVs seriously.)
Whats the name of the batteries and what is better with this batteries?
Lack of clarity tells you a lot doesn't it.
You're making a mistake when comparing length of cars - by making car longer, the consumption can be reduced, because air resistance can then get better. But shorter car can make it easier to park (and TMY has very poor turn radius)
Toyota: trust us our battery is better (…from our previous one)
Your CLTC to WLTP conversions are wrong. Figure about 78% of CLTC, eg. 615km CLTC is about 480km WLTP, not 580km.
What’s with the lack of performance ? Model Y does 0-60 in 3.5 seconds
Personal preference, I bought it for the loook. I like the way it looks, teslas are hideous to me. Not everyone cares how fast a car can go and I hate long trips so why would I care about range lol 300km in 1 go is more than I’ll ever use. Level 2 charger at home, I’m good. So it just depends on your life style
Will it be on the tesla charging network next year?
nope.
if Toyota is light on details just ask BYD
Yes the BZ4X has greatly improved. Toyota have guaranteed it for a million km Yes. 1000000. And it comes with a ten year guarantee. Doe sent it say it all who else make my E v s. Do that. Great car. Anyone one I know who has one.

No DC fastcharging? 🤣 Please show the former CEO clown Toyoda more often! I like to see him making any announcements. He has a lot of talent as a comedian.
I have more confidence in Toyota than any of the Chinese models out there. As an American, they have no history here other than making some Volvos/Polestars.
Evening mate
It didn't change its name. In the video, on the front license plate, the letters B and Z are represented in two Chinese characters.
The price is $80,000?! Toyota does not want this to canibalize on their ICE car sales and they pretend like there is no competition from tesla, byd, zeekr and xiaomi
All right, 4X is a huge improvement over BZ4X, but 4X implies 4-wheel drive.
Maybe ZX would have been better, or else an entirely new name.

they should get another D for this offering especially if its built by another company.
I believe the only thing Toyota make on this car, is the badge. Its pure Chinese.

And I don't want to talk with a computer. It takes longer too.
Another thing, is there an EV that is not connected to the internet?
excuse the rant

The problem with all old car companies is that they have an overstaffed management team and don’t have enough money for good specialists, unlike the Chinese.
Toyota reputation depends on reliability
...and its from the 1980s. Today's Toys are no better than any other car. The company is sliding by on their glory days but the truth is, their products are NOT as reliable as they were in the 80s. I speak from bitter experience,

Yes, the Prius could have been their tech leader.
@@jimgraham6722 Absolutely. They could have increased the battery size and made it plug in within a couple of years of bringing it out. It should have been their path to a proper EV, taking tech from the part ownership of Tesla. But they placed a very stupid bet on Hydrogen instead.

Who actually makes the battery for this car? Wikipedia says its CATL, a Chinese battery company, others say Panasonic, others say LG from 2025.

???
Hope they have a proper go Sam
The new Hyundai/Kia models blow this away! Even the Fisker Ocean looks to be superior.
@@GDM22EVs made up 20% of new vehicles in Norway in 2022. EVs are clearly not 'the standard' in Norway.
@@marcg1686 87% of new car sales in Norway are EVs, end of story.
@@GDM22 the instructions are for all users. I wish Tesla had explained to the customer how Tesla batteries can be damaged, something Toyota is proactively doing even before they have started selling this new model.
@@marcg1686 that is not correct. Norway has gone total EV.

I bet that now the steering wheel of the newer Toyota 4X model will fall off...😂
Being that Toyota has been lying for decades about their batteries and continues to lie or be evasive about their so-called improvements, I think a consumer should be extremely cautious going anywhere near this vehicle. The mere fact that Toyota is not recommending supercharging or avoid using it where you can also raises a big red flag! When Toyota ever gets around to telling the actual truth with details to support their claims, maybe then they can rebuild trust with future customers.
'Lying for decades...'?
And remember, in the UK Petrol ('Gas' for Americans) costs four times what it costs in the US.
go back and look when Toyota first mentioned their "upandcoming" new battery technology that was going to blow everyone away.@@marcg1686
