Awesome video. Back out to get my hands greasy again with renewed confidence.

Yup, a pain. Especially if your car has active sway bars. The brackets bind up so the bolt holes are fractionally skewed. Best bet is to loosen all the power steering pump bolts a bit so there is play in the pump. Reinsert bolt behind the idle r pulley first. Then attach your torx and a short extension to the bolt and tap lightly while wiggling the alternator. Once it catches a few threads, do the top right alt bolt a few threads. Now its aligned to reinsert all bolts and tighten.

Your lucky that x5 didn't have active sway bars and active steering, what a mess of hoses to work around. Easily adds a few hours. The revised design by URO (12317507808PRM) has a massive change to the surface area and of the oil seal, so when it hardens over time it is unlikely to ever blow out, it's quite different than the oem seal.

Do you have a part number or a supplier for this oil thermostat.
