- So, the Boxtrolls is a real movie that actually happened, even though it had completely disappeared from memory. Anyway, it's got sins, as all movies do.
Next week: Heist sins & wedding sins.
Remember, no movie is without sin. Which movie's sins should we count next?

Glad Jeremy acknowledged how great this film looks. Cause clay-animation is NOT an easy thing to do.
It's an outdated technique, but if you still commit to it the result has a unique style no other animation can achieve.
My farts are better than CinemaSins' farts
@@p-__ive seen you say that same thing on charlies channel bot
I'll give Jeremy the healthcare sin, because it's a bitch to comprehend (except for Canada, they get it for free. Nothing against them, beautiful country, but their healthcare is FREE! Mr. Krabs. would've been jawless from it dropping down. But the sin, as always, is healthcare.
A Nightmare before Christmas took 3 and a half years to make, with a week's worth of claymation equaling 1-2 seconds of onscreen animation.
I *LOVE* this company, they’re the same people who made Coraline and Kubo of the Two Strings, in case you didn’t know. From my understanding, it really is a passion project company, and the only reason they stay alive is the owner has personal and family funding. They just make damn great movies, because that’s what they do.

I’m pretty sure one of the guys family member owns Nike.
Artistically, this movie amazing
The cheese and box aesthetics are so oddly charming
Building your world with simple concepts like this is the best way to make children's films
I mean, to be fair, the world building comes from a book. I get your point though.
Laika made a unique mid-credits scene & 95% of the audience didn't see it
I saw it, and remembered being very impressed once my dad explained it to me (I was very young)
I saw it, I always check credits for little “bloopers” or extras😊
I actually enjoyed this movie more than I thought I would.
The three minions honestly make the whole thing. Reminds me of the Mechanicals in A Midsummers nights dream.
My farts are better than CinemaSins' farts
@@p-__🤨🤨
This movie traumatized me as a kid
@@p-__npc
My dad loved this movie and he played it over and over and OVER again. I was terrified of this, but this video brought back a massive blast of nostalgia, and therefore, I thank you
The Kool-Aid man outtake killed me. I should have expected the sort of thing from you guys
I laughed at the death. It was so hilarious. It made me chuckle in my seat when I saw at the cinema back in 2014 I was around 15 years old when this film came out.
My farts are better than CinemaSins' farts
I know 😂 Boxtrolls was my favorite movie when I was 6 years old and I ALWAYS replayed the death scene. That shit made me laugh my ass off every time I saw it😂😂😂😂
That scene traumatized me 💀💀
"Curd's way? Milk turns into it" deserved more than a rimshot.
I'd go so far to say it didn't deserve the rimshot. It's a clever pun.
I’m a stop motion animator so it’s pretty cool to hear and read acknowledgements of the sheer amount of work and artistry that goes into a film like this. Not all stop motion is done with clay and Laika continues to push that bar (they 3D print their puppets). The Boxtrolls is one of my fave films ❤
The characters are supposed to read as faux British, and "jelly" (British) is the same as "Jello" (American). "Jelly" (American) is a very different thing, it's somewhere between jam and "jelly" (British). It's a common replacement for jam in America, despite it being less tasty (although more sugary) and much harder to spread.
For example, Britain has a biscuit known as a Jammy Dodger (I can hear Whovian applause). It actually contains more of the substance we in America call 'jelly'.
I've actually had them and can say that it's worth trying as it's VERY good, so I can see why Matt Smith likes them so much.
I actually love this movie so much! It was one of the only few things I had in my childhood that kept me happy
ngl I forgot about it for a long it.
Winnie:"you bit me, you bit me with your mouth!"is the best line in the whole movie 😂
Do you ever forget a movie from your childhood exists then you see it again and it feels like the world hit you in the face with a sledgehammer
Box Trolls is decent, it’s just in terms of the studio’s other works, it’s in the company of excellent films such as Coraline, Paranorman, and Kubo and the Two Strings. So it’s a bit hard to remember for some. I still need to see Missing Link myself.
Ahh... Missing Link was ... meh. After it and Smallfoot, I almost didn't bother with Abominable. (Sooo glad I did!)
Damn. Kubo was badass
Honestly, The Boxtrolls is one of my favorite Laika films, as it really clicks with me. It's honestly really tough comparing it with Kubo And The Two Strings, and as good as that movie is, I might honestly enjoy The Boxtrolls more. Coraline is certainly my favorite Laika film though.
To be honest, I agree. I barely remember this movie because Laika has done so many other, more memorable films. I remember being both amazed and slightly scared the first time I saw Coraline. The animation was beautiful, yet some scenes made me think of Disney for some reason.
The current MCU (falling apart so far) getting roasted in less than 50 seconds already made me laugh so hard! Thanks a lot, kudos as allways!
My farts are better than CinemaSins' farts
The MCU lives rent free in their heads.
I can actually agree with you. I had several people at my work tell me about Quantumania and how convoluted it was, as well as the unnecessary inclusion of the Eternals. I'm not saying that there aren't people who didn't like these two movies but the Eternals were set up over several years in the comics and the MCU jammed them into just over 90 minutes.
As just one example, Sersi has been around for a VERY LONG time.
Where the hell is my Kool-Aid Man outtake?
You promised us gold and delivered nothing
Box trolls are just going for a walk.
A very enthusiastic walk.
Cube. We don't ever know how many movies they made, we could Google it but can't be arsed.
Cube 42, kinda like fighting on the grid in Tron legacy, but this time the combatant hides in the corner and cries
I loved this movie. Took my kid to see it twice.
Rookie numbers
You protest drag shows, too?
What is considered a drag show?

8:45 Wow, for once I can actually agree with Cinemasins on the whole “eating an apple makes you an ***hole” sin!
So, by CinemaSins' (and to an extent your own) logic, healthy eating makes you an asshole? And to think I've been eating fruit for all these years and it turns out I was showing my status as scum. Thank you, kind sir. JK.
Laika movies are so underrated I feel like most people didn't even know this movie existed
Everytime i walk into the warehouse at work i say aloud "Look at alllll the boxes....just laaaaaaaying about...."
im so glad you decided to sin one of my favorite childhood movies. i have not seen ANYONE talk about this movie.
I'm just mad that NO ONE is asking how and why the hell Eggs was in his usual under-his-box clothes and his box after Snatcher took him and not his fancy party clothes Winnie whipped up for him? 14:31 THAT was the one thing that bothered more than anything else in this movie (which wasn't much because i love this movie) because the implications about how he was dressed are nonexistent or really uncomfortable. And a nitpicky channel like Cinemasins SHOULD have noticed and pointed it out.
Aaah, my favourite Laika movie!! So underrated!
Also he didn’t say “boy? Why did she call me that?” Because he didn’t understand- it was because he kept thinking he was a box troll. He wasn’t very mentally aware that he was even human. Which explains why he was confused why he was confused why she called him a boy as if he was “human”
mr. Pickles: "mother of sausages!"
Mr. Trout: "holy meat gloves!"
Jeremy from CinemaSins: "The mutual disappointment of my college girlfriend and I seeing each other's naughty bits for the first time, makes its way into the script"🤣
Never clicked on one of these notifications sooner I love this movie so much!
same!
I thought for sure it was going to be Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.
My farts are better than CinemaSins' farts
I know this is an old video but I’ve never seen the movie and I can’t stress how much it reminds me of grizzly tales for gruesome kids. If you know you know
Same
When I saw this when it first came out, for some reason, it creeped the absolute shit outta me. I frickin' love films like NBC, Mad World (that creeped me out but for other reasons), Coralie, and stop-motion films like that but something about this one just hit me the worst way and I have no idea why 😶
So glad you did this one
This is my favorite stop motion film
0:48 cinemasins explaining what they’re going to use every movie to ever exist
Thank you for bringing more attention to this film!
Also, funny thing is, Toni Collette DID have more lines in the film, but they were unfortunately cut for pacing issues. There's even a deleted scene avaliable on UA-cam! ua-cam.com/video/1C11fT5HWfY/v-deo.htmlsi=Unf_ztJ2B3YO6ZFP
I can’t wait for y’all to do Last Voyage Of The Demeter!
Demeter was 100% accurate.
That kid playing the warpped record ( we used to call them ashtray makers when left in the car in the sun ) reminds us of...
How dare you take so few sins off for that mid credit scene.
I do love this nice and touching animation movie❤
He said "18 minutes or less" when it actually wasn't.
*Sin counter ding plays*
The animation looks pretty smooth there.
It was a long time ago i saw this movie but wasnt it stop motion?
@@trollslandan0893Yes! It’s all claymation!
@@reninkpen5402yes i remember it because of the skit at the end
@@reninkpen5402I'm pretty sure that laika (the studio who made this) doesn't use claymation. the characters are puppets, and laika makes hundreds of little facial expressions for each character and swaps them out between each shot.
My farts are better than CinemaSins' farts
I saw this for the first time as a four year old the year it came out and it's a really cute movie but the villain's swelling always scared me so much and I had nightmares for weeks. Seeing it again right now almost a decade later and it still terrifies me. Otherwise, it's a good movie, it's just those particular parts that are pretty unnerving 😬
Same. My brother couldn't watch Boxtrolls more than once because the swelling scenes creep us out so much😅
Yo the death explosion was the worst for me. Still gives chills.
Regreting a decision you made while being lied to and decived is not a poorly aged joke.
It is perfectly acceptable.
It is the liar that should be shunned.
How do Box Trolls go to the bathroom when nature calls?
I love the little boxtrolls. This is one of my favorite movies.
Thanks for reminding me of the BoxTrolls. If you like this movie, Tales of Arcadia is right up your alley. Start with TrollHunters. I know it isn't a movie, but it's still great.
This animation always blows my mind
Well played, you Rick-rolling sons of a (sin removed)!
4:48 Froushadowing XD.
The box trolls when it was in the dark looks like that one McDonald’s mascot, which is a happy meal
that's the coolest end credits i've ever seen
That joke where Eggs asks how to get to the villains headquarters... I had to pause the DVD and go outside to recover.
Oh yeah! I almost completely forgot about this movie!
Second-favorite villain death of all time, right behind "The Castle Of Cagliostro".
Movie- "Who's up for a jelly break?"
"NO ONE"
Ok ok calm down, bro...
My favourite childhood movie! Great job!
Laika always have such amazing gems
My life's mission is to direct an unsinnable movie. I may have to live for centuries until that goal is even remotely close to being achieved, but goddamn if I don't try my hardest.
They don’t seem to sin “Shorts” movies, so that might be a good place to start? For a full length movie, keep the plot simple so they can’t sin plot holes, ex machinas, or cliches. Also, keep the CGI to a minimum so they can’t sin how fake it might look.
@@Dark_Mishra My list so far is:
No internet references
VERY minimal logos
No CGI
Write good characters
Write a consistent plot and narrative with no ex machinas
Don’t hire common actors
Am I missing anything?
I remember this movie.
*I remember this movie.*
19:44 Haha, I see what you did there and I approve.
I was literally looking for this after watching the movie yesterday lol
I probably watched the movie 6x while high. Just some feels different about this movie. It’s one of my favorites and I’m not sure why.
The biggest sin is that the channel is not called Sinema
I would a give a sin off for Ben Kingsley’s outstanding vocal performance as Snatcher.
bianca del rio reference in cinemasins??? wow when my interests collide
For a severe enough bunion, as my father had, the bone at the joint of the big toe may need to be sawed off in order to make the correction.
17:57 Nice sin removal!!!
The bianca del rio comment😂 love it
So what do all the movie reviewers want instead of a lowest moment scene? I keep hearing all of them complain about it but what's the alternative. Any ideas? Op characters like Saitama are basically the only thing I can think could work, for a bit anyway
Saying that one of your outtakes would be the Kool Aid man's Oh Yeah and not giving us that is a great joke
I used to watch this movie every night. The nostalgia..
Such a great movie.
"don't you think movies could think outside of the box?"
Sin for that pun, sir!
i will always love studio laika, they always put so much effort into their movies 🙏
0:51 Bro looks like if Tim burtons 'Penguin' and Hey Arnold's 'Sewer king's mated... and he's the Result 😂⚰️😭
Big E: "This is surreal. Am I on drugs?"
I watched this video because I knew I had watched it but had never seen anything about it to the point where I thought it was just a fever dream. Thanks for reassuring me that it's real
We done been Rick Rolled.
Amazing,I totally forgot this movie existed and barely remembered it too. Look like a good movie to watch for a good laugh, entertainment too.
Fucking CLASSIC RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!
I used to watch this every single night when I was 8 to help me fall asleep
I watched this using netflix on a nentindo wii
The biggest sin is making eggs look like joe locke 😂
*no one wants a hummer*
.
.
.....wait. 😂😂
Yes ma’am. Toni Colette. Yaking it up on the old CinemaSins box.
Been waiting for this review for years
I love this channel, and I haven't watched this yet, but you shut your pie hole, this movie was perfect! Ok, I've vented, I'll watch the video now. ;)
I loved this movie. I also know one of the directors so i might be slightly biased...
My kids boxtroll Halloween costumes are my lazy dad high-water mark.
I forgot about this movie!!!
Haa... "Box Populi"
I see what you did there. Nice!
18:06 this mid credit caused cinema sins to bring it down to 2 points
0:31 Why bruh look like Van Gough doe 🖼🎨 😂🤔💀⚰️👀🤦🏾♀️
idc what you say, this is by far one of the most insane animated movies i've seen
I'd just like to mention that there was an opportunity to call him Eggs The Reaper since this....could technically be based on and English town XD
Literally the greatest movie and UA-camr
The leech barrel was already there. They're in the market place so the stall behind the barrel probably belongs to a doctor or some such.
cinema sins fails to grasp first person view for winding up a music box
I dimly remember drawing these characters ten years ago.
Swear yall did this one already. Great movie and beautiful.
Best sun was “no one, *stop it*”
Just when I thought any knowledge of this movie had been completely wiped from my memory…
