What I love about Gacharic Spin and Band Maid is they seem to be creating their own sound or take on music ... and then there's the musicianship which seems avant gard to say the least. Way to go girls ...
Since I first heard it at the 13th anniversary show I hoped that this (and Rabbit Hole) would be on the new album - the unusual mix of sounds really sums up the band for me.
Thanks for the reaction, Ryan. I always love seeing your reactions to Gacharic Spin. This band is criminally under-rated. They've got a mere 16,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and even their most popular songs on that platform have a dishearteningly low number of listens. Their albums prior to Gold Dash are a bit hit and miss for me but their 3 most recent albums have all been consistently excellent. To top it all off they clearly love what they do, enjoy engaging with their fans and provide tons of supporting content on their 'Gachatto TV' UA-cam channel.
Chaotic dissonance with a catchy chorus, this song has all of the Gacharic Spin hooks on high-octane. I think this is my favorite of GS's recent releases. To me the two standouts are Yuri and Tomo-zo who played one of her more original parts and also adding some unusual guitar sounds.. Of course Tomo-zo was higher in the mix and easy to follow this time. The Hana/Tomo-zo solos were beautiful and having two guitarist opens a lot of possibilities. I had my doubts about Yuri when she first joined, since Hana is such a great drummer, but Yuri brings a different groove that is a great fit with the new direction of this band and she was absolutely amazing on this song with some incredible fills.
Hey Ryan - your memory of Angie screaming was the Hanatera clip I sent to you, and I then followed up with the "I wish I" live vid but I don't know if you watched that or not (you reacted to the I wish I MV a long time ago, and it's not necessarily 100% clear that both Angie and Hana are doing screams there - much clearer on the live version).
Great reaction Ryan I am listening to Gacharic Spin's new album everyday without skipping a track and that was also the case for their previous album. But this time, I feel like they raised the bar even higher. My favorite song is "rabbithole" and of course, "Reverse Psychology" is on the top as well. It would be cool if you can do a track by track reaction/review of the album. Wave was talking about a GG reaction to it but If you don't mind doing it on your channel, I would appreciate that. Thank you
I received the album a couple of weeks ago. A lot of great songs. Angie has become more of the lead singer. This song is so chaotic, so hard in parts, but that chorus is so catchy. They are at their best when they combine all those elements and they are so good at it.
Angie's been growling/screaming for most of their new songs, sometimes it's hard to tell if it's her or Hana. She has added something that GS needed. With Yuri on drums, Hana has the chance to add a lot more to the guitar parts.
This is the closest thing to Prog Spin I've heard from them 😀. The new album is short but ambitious - I had to listen to it several times to fully appreciate it and I still listen to it every day. They're unique and definitly don't plan to sound like anybody else 😉.
I agree my only criticism of the album would be the number of tracks (just because we know they have so many other great tunes ready to go but not included - New Leaf and Parallel Loop a big surprise to me for example) and also the length of the tracks which are definitely shorter on average than prior albums. But that's just me, I want to hear as much as possible from them!
Apart from sonically this is kind of old school Gacharic Spin in that it is totally chaotic and about 14 songs in one. I can't for the life of me understand how they manage to get songs like this to work. Even more so, I don't understand how they've suddenly started writing these huge and hooky choruses. I don't think there is a song with a 'meh' kind of chorus on W.

This band is just amazing. I think they are all genres mixed up in a fun, delightful sound.
This one could have been the album opener, instead it ended up closing the album. What a banger. GS at their best!!!

TOMO's playing there was reminding me of Adrian Belew with the craziness factor. Love it.

Heavy + ominous + J-pop = Gacharic Spin. Don’t blink or you’ll miss it.

Zappa meets Rage Against The Machine meets funk meets jazz meets nightclub dance meets pop meets ...

The rock band out there! Not my favorite GS song though, but they're so damn good!
👍
Gacharic Spin unleashed !
What the hell are they feeding female drummers in Japan? Crazy drum fills.
😁
Slapdash?
