    Agree with you 100%. When I tell PD I want a full back access they would recommend me their 45L backpack! No I want a 25-30L everyday backpack with full back access!

    Enjoyed the bird/music edit at 0:32 during the intro, thought you were going to do again at 0:40 w/guy walking. A thoughtful review; you told the viewer the agenda and then showed the bag and related your feedback, likes/dislikes, general comments, pet peeves, and suggestions for best use. Editing, creative lighting and camera work is great.

    Just ordered this bag after watching reviews and checking it out in person, and I look forward to seeing how it works for me! Totally agree about wanting it to stand up, and I think your side access comment is well-founded.
    Thanks for the quality video! It’s super well-made.

      Thank you very much I really appreciate that. Side access isn't for everyone but I can definitely see the appeal to a certain type of shooter. It's a well made bag regardless of my feelings on the form factor

    I brought this bag on a trip and felt exactly what you felt. I would prefer carrying my camera gears in a lowepro bag than this one every single time.

      I've been using it for a while now and although it has grown on me I still don't fully enjoy my camera or lenses being able to float around in the bag like that. It is what it is though. PM Nomatic bag here I come

    Appreciate your feedback on some of the design related issues you have when using this bag for camera gear. I agree with your impressions. Personally I need a travel bag and as such will have an 10L everyday sling bag as well. I will travel w my medium format mirrorless Fuji & likely carry have 1 extra zoom during my day hikes. I am considering a 20-30L back pack for my clothes on a 2 week trip. The 20L might work the 30L should suffice for luggage. I will be flying then travel by train so carrying all my gear is a big plus.

    Loved the review. I’ve learned I don’t really care for full access bags. I wish I could have learned it after the first camera bag I’ve bought, but with the Everyday backpack now being my 7th 🤦🏽‍♂️ I really dig quick access to both sides of the bag. I really dislike taking the bag on and off, and in some of the sports or outdoors situations I’m in doing that sometimes isn’t even possible so I’m hoping the PD bag is the one…..but if not I also ordered the PM everyday bag too…

    Bought the v1 and brought it back, Bought the v2 and brought it back for the same reason. I got it twice because it's really a good looking backpack but like you said, it's not easy to store your gear in it, i hope someday they bring out a v3 with back panel access, i know there are a lot of other bags that have such an option, but they are not that good looking.
    I have the Sling 5L and 3L v2 + capture clip and leash and cuff, really awesome gear to have.

    Thank you for this video. I was thinking of getting this backpack as well. You just gave me perspectives on things that I've never thought of (like feeling the things move inside the bad, which I hate as well). And now I have to reconsider.

    I received my backpack today and I gotta say I agree with you. I'm having to pack the bag with clothes to help tightly pack the my camera gear in the bag. Looks awesome and stylish. Has some great designs but I will be putting my backpack down before taking gear out. Its not the greatest bag to carry 2 x flashes, 1 x camera body, 3 x lenses, ND filters, batteries and a tripod.

      Now that I've had this bag for a while it has grown on me. I actually kind of like the side access but I think I'll still prefer full access. I ordered the peter mckinnon everyday bag so we will see how it stacks up when it gets here. Hope you're enjoying it

      @@SamuelJamesVideos Would love to see a comparison video! Good job on this one, the lack of full access really was my main concern when considering this bag. Ironically it seems like Pete's Everyday bag has the opposite problem- amazing back access but only partial top quick access, and no side access... Looking forward to hear what you think.

    I'm a photo retoucher, not a photographer but I just bought a used 20L from their website for $50 off (they have a little market place for people to resell used PD bags which is very cool.) It hasn't come yet but I hope it's a good fit for my stuff. I really just need a place to securely store my lappy, nexstand, Wacom, headphones, chargers/cables, passport and maybe one change of clothes. Glad that people are saying this isn't ONLY for photographers.

    • @SamuelJamesVideos
      @SamuelJamesVideos  2 роки тому

      If I could go back and do it again I would absolutely go with a full open bag. I hate the side access and it's useless if you're carrying anything more than one camera and one lens. I literally never use it while it's on my back so I might as well have full access. I hope that helps

    The dividers have those side skirts or how ever you want to call them. You can take them up and then your lenses won’t flap. Alternatively use a poach with lenses that will nicely fit into one of the divided spaces. That should do the trick for you.

  • @a97b18b
    @a97b18b 3 роки тому +1

    Agree with you. Love the bag, the idea is great, but the dividers are horrible. To use the dividers you need to make sure you have something in all spots or the divider will lay flat again and your lens will be moving everywhere. I also don’t like how my camera gets crushed and the buttons get depressed. It may not be a big issue, but I don’t like it.

    I really dislike the design of the nomatic. The peak design isn't perfect but I HATE the clamshell design. I also don't want to have to take the bag off to get my camera. That defeats the purpose of an "every day" bag for me. That's what a large bag for big shoots is for. But I totally get that bags are super personal. To each their own!

    I 100% in agree this is NOT a camera bag - My Sony a7iv Would just roll back and forth. The origami dividers kind of work until there is void, then plop you thing shift and move. Nice bag, over hyped for camera gear. I got the 30l maybe the 20l would be tight enough to keep thing from rolling around so much.

    Too bad they couldn't do a cubes that slide in and out like a drawer to hold gear in and secure. I had to do something like that with my camera and lens to travel with it.

    I don't really know why so many people say this, but I think this would be an absolutely dreadful backpack for a student or anyone who carries large quantities of large books, notebooks or anything made of paper in general. Aside from the few sheets you could fit beside the laptop compartment, you have no space for flat objects. Due to the rigid shape of the bag, it's going to be very uncomfortable for the user and bad for the books to have them sliding around. The compartmentalization is also hardly suitable for anything other than carrying mid-sized hardware (e.g., camera gear, which is obviously their target audience, no matter how you look at it), and the side access has practically no use in daily life, especially if you can't figure out a clever way to use the separators, which is a bit of a puzzle in itself. Maybe it's good for hiking, but there are many options suited more specifically for that purpose.

      Oh don't worry, it wasn't that far of a drop down into sand, not water. I know it looks like it's water but it's a little patch of beach right under there
