I rode my friends new '19 after us both having '05 and was really impressed. First by how much lighter it felt, even though they weighed the same. Second was how easy the handling was. Third....i got tired of that pumper carb bucking when you were a gear or two high trying to roll on throttle. The EFI just pulled smooth.
Everything you said was spot on! It loves to be in open desert and any flowing trail, whether it's single or double track. Once you get in the really tight stuff, it does feel out of place. I'm a fairly new off-road rider and the power is PLENTY for everything! I wish my bike looked that clean! haha
This is s nice bike. Honda got their act together here. 6 speed wide ration box and lights. Perfect. I want one
Picking mine up this week. Pumped.
The old X was a five speed, the new one (19+) is a six.
Hi there
Great video you cleared up a lot of confusion.
How would you compare the x and rl on road riding.
All the choices really confuses me. I want a fast woods/trail bike that doesn’t have to have maintenance every time I ride it, I wish they’d bring back xr400
this is exactly what they need to do, only electric start. i sold mine because of hip/knee pain from an injury and i miss it so much. it was mild until you wanted wild. def a hard bike to replace!
250f with some suspension mods
You may want to look into a 2-stroke enduro bike. I’m currently on a beta 300 race edition and it’s a great woods bike. All I ever do is change the gear oil and clean the air filter when needed. +160 hard hours on the bike and still going strong. It’s not uncommon for the average woods rider to get +200 hours on the original cylinder. Hope this helps!
@@jordanrahm8555 I’ve seen people pull out pistons with 300 hours on them from beta it’s insane and they probably could have kept going
@@austinnewman115 that’s amazing! Ive heard the same thing about the beta 200rr. I have no brand loyalty, but must say I’m very pleased with beta so far.
Seriously, how many models of a 450 does Honda make? If I'm correct, there's an R, X, L , RX, RL, and RLX !! Is there a video explaining this?
Hello, I am interested by this bike for the 6 speeds and electric starter, what's about maintenance ? Is it more spaced or like a standard crf with each 5-10 hours traditionnal works...
I've got the 19 model I absolutely luv it , in Tennessee I was able to get it tagged , I took it too my local mx track and was really surprised how well it performed, I had a yz250 2 stroke previously and I believe my lap times were faster on the x just so easy to ride .
How's that first gear in the woods? I'm from Indiana so the riding would be a touch different than baja.. lol
What do you need to do to get the 450X tagged in TN?
@@-mystical-16 i had my dealer help me get a tag for it , I put on a mirror, I'm just basically on the road just to connect to more trails.
@@Johnny-Gunn 1st gear seems fine for the tighter stuff , but this bike really shines when ur moving along at higher speeds the harder i push it the stability and handling really stands out, if ur doing single track a lot I'd go with sumn else , but if it is mainly gncc type trails or jeep roads u'll love it .
@@mouseymcnabb4783 , what did the MSO / COO read? If it did NOT read "For off-road use only", that could explain getting it legal.
When I was looking for a new bike my biggest concern was weight and needed to be street legal. I bought a Beta 390 rrs. Very light and street legal. Dealer sprung the bike to my weight. Almost bought a CRF450X but local dealer couldnt tell me when I would get it. Bike before the Beta was a 2003 XR650R. It was a handful on tight trails.
I love the bike somuch and the way the video devided to the blogger andthen to the bike itself ,you should visit philippines guys
Where are you testing the bike at? Are you in So. Cal?
Great review, with a lot of knowledge. 👍
Do you think the 450x can be ridden on an MX track similar to a YZ250FX or KTM XC-F (or at least XCF-W/ WR250F)?
Noticed on the Tank it says Unleaded fuel only, does it have something in the ECU that prevents the use of leaded race type fuel? I doubt it has an O2 sensor. Just wondering since at times I run AVGAS in my stuff.
Man get a fmf vortex and a rx cam and this bike is right there with the rx and r even a little more hp the 1x bike is a beast
This, WR, KLX, RMX, and european motorcycles are the best bikes to use for fun.
hay Vital MX, what about the 2022 offroad 250 shootout????
Can this be dualsported in California?
What does green sticker means?
Green stickers are needed to ride a dirt bike on public land in California, such as OHV. That includes emissions and spark arresters, but not as strict as street-legal bikes. Closed course areas like MX tracks do not require the green sticker.
Biggest reason that older gen crf450x wins in the desert because of that chasis!
Please send it to Twisted Development/San Diego Powerhouse for engine mods, and make a screaming desert racing project bike!!!??? Give the people what they want lol
Wondering if you could do the stark varg?
Can we PLEASE get the 6 spd tranny in the RX? Same for every Japanese "X" bike! Why is this so hard?

Jesus, 275 lbs!!??
My 2021 FE501 is 242lbs (255lbs full of fuel). That’s a full 20lbs lighter. I’ve removed a lot of unnecessary parts, lighter exhaust, titanium parts (axles, sprocket, brake caliper and rotor bolts) and switched to Xact air forks so it’s at least 25 lbs lighter now. There is no way that 275 lb couch will ever be anywhere near as good.
Nope, it's no good. That's why it's won pretty much every Baja race since it's been out. Can't say you've seen any huskys do that
@@wmrice77 Baja is mostly fast, flat out riding with little in the way of tight, technical terrain. For that specific type of riding yeah, I'd be very happy on a 450X. Get into the tighter and technical riding and the Husqvarna is superior.
@@LolliWANG505 I’ve ridden a lot of the course and it’s mostly big whoops and fast.
It seems like you have a street-legal version of the FX450 (except 50cc bigger). Will the stock FE501 be superior to the 450X on an MX track? The 501 is lighter, but the XPLOR fork (before you upgraded) focuses more on slow trail riding. Maybe the linkage rear is an advantage (vs. PDS) on the MX track.
@@wmrice77 A husky 501 would rattle itself and the rider into parts before it won the Baja.
450 enduro bikes are really underrated. The 450x looks good except that hideous headlight lens and masks
Better than the wr's headlight imo
@@silly-xd8uq I kinda like the WR's, the 450L's looks pretty nice, my RMX's looks pretty decent but the light itself sucks.
Hideous???
How detuned is it from the r- s is it
This bike can be turned into a monster with a little money
Whaaat lucky ducks!! We dont get this model in canada :(
Buy the Yamaha yz450x, it's better, and you don't have to spend an extra 1500 dollars on exhaust and ECU.
@@nvmcrider8475 RED OR DIE haha im a loyalist be it im on a 21 year old 2 smoker
It doesnt take much to make it a bsast
I had one bran new when they came out in 2005 not powerful enough unfortunately 👎
Really? 😂Properly tuned, more bike than 99% of people can ride to its full potential. Tons of power and handle just as good as the Euro bikes if not better. Plus, way more dependable.
@@ronpage101 great bike crf but not better than euro bikes mate
@@CatholicCrusader__30 Sorry CC30. Hard to beat out in the desert. You probably don't ride much desert.
You can ride this bike to oblivion....and beyond.
