Didn't realize there were so many hippies out there! You guys really are mad that a few alligators in an overpopulated area are killed? If they were endangered I would join the crusade but these guys are doing a service besides there are quotas each year to prevent overkilling. Next thing you're gonna tell me that Shelby Stenga is hurting the tree population.
The hunt is more about regulating the species than "protection". If it was about protection, you wouldn't need a tag.
There are over 2 million alligators in Louisiana alone. The population is healthy and the money raised from licensing helps the state quite a bit. Without the hunt, there would be little money to control poaching. The alligator season is a good thing.

I was fishing in Lake Verret Easter Sat, saw about 20 gators through out the day about 7 of them were over 10ft.....

The Landrys are a down to earth family. They are hardworking and a very protected clan. And i feel grateful for being shown how a family of fine Americans live a life very foreign culture to the one I have grown up here in the West Coast Pacific Trio a world of difference, but only thousands of miles apart. We catch Salmon and Crabs you folks catch dangerous creatures. So it’s kind of hard for me to realize how one must constantly on the lookout
for dangerous creatures, although l have lived among the Giant Diamondback Rattlesnake around Black Canyon City. There were tracks in the sand that made one hope not to surprise whatever left those marks close to where you where sleeping and swimming ! Fortunately I never laid eyes on a in the wild live Diamondback Rattlesnake.

These are very powerful creatures and they are now starting to move to populated areas, putting people in danger including their children and pets. They have to be controlled, there are laws in place to keep them from becoming endanger again, because there was a time they were endanger so it became illegal to kill the alligators and then they started to multiply and now their is an over population. It is also a danger to the ecosystem if alligators are over populated because they end up killing all the other wild life out there...
