the cover page of each chapter are important. they have tons of easter eggs and are genius world building tool. it will click with u at some point in the story when characters are reintroduced. i wouldn't say they hold necessary context for the main story but it will give you a feeling like the world is alive outside of the main plot and people are doing stuff.
I was wondering if those characters ever came into the storyline. I wasn't exactly sure but you're right about how great of a world building tool it is. Everything in the One Piece manga is being used to enhance the characters and world. It's actually kind of beautiful, and touching.
The cover stories are so cool! I watched the anime before reading the manga, and the anime left me with a bunch of questions about how characters ended up where they were, for example Django. But to be reading the main story and have those random 1 image stories of whats going on with them that explains all that was SO cool! The one's shown in this video specifically. I always wondered how Hachi was just chilling when the rest of his crew got captured by the Navy, now I'm just wondering how it was the dumb one that was the only one that managed to get away lol. Good for him tho, if anyone deserves a break from that crew it's him.
@@TheGrossDemon I have a lot of questions about Django as well. I actually kind of ignored them because the art was a little confusing. But I do like all of the Hachi ones because they are actually hilarious. Like, I think he sold the mermaid girl or even when he's making takoyaki when he is an octopus. I'm over here smiling inside my manga!
@@temperancetalley The Cover Stories explain the world moving around even without the straw hats. It starts quite early with Buggys Story. So in Logue Town when Buggy shows up with Alvida, we have seen the before in the Cover Stories. There is a payoff to pay attention to them.
They are a little unhinged, aren't they? But they start to make so much more sense once you start reading them! Like, the one I was so confused about ended being the Monkey Brothers and Bellmay! I was like, I know exactly what they are doing with this cover. I love things like that! Discovering what I don't know or confirming my guesses.
Wow, thank you for making this. This really takes me back to why I loved those beautifully crafted graphic novels so much when I was a kid. Great video.
If theres one thing I don't like about those amazing art spreads, is how much they make me want to see THOSE adventures and how hot they make Usopp look!!!
OMG. I'm so freaking glad you said that about Usopp!! Because there's this one page where I'm like, "DAMN." And I'm a hardcore Sanji fan but that page made me blush!
I'm so happy seeing new fans really ! I have been watching one piece since 2014 when I was 10 and that's really something spécial to me. It get better and I Hope you will enjoy it. Just take your Time. Support you from France ! Welcome Nakama !
THANK YOU! I'm having a lot of fun but it is very intimidating. It's so big and everyone is so far ahead. But everyone is also a great pirate and they don't spoil anything. It's cool even the community around One Piece is so kind.
@@temperancetalley The cover pages are coloured and the first page with Oda's comment is a little different (in the side of the jacket). The SBS corners are the same.
I appreaciate this! I normally only reals the digital release on the app, so seeing how the physical version is is kind of cool. I would disagree that the "mystery pages" are the cover pages for the chapter. Often, there are 'cover stories' that take place one panel at a time per chapter. These stories are canon events that often come back in to play later in the manga. Make sure to pay attention, because everything matters XD Thanks for the video
I agree that the mystery pages aren't really a chapter break. They're honestly their own thing but it's easier to say chapter break then come up with a whole new term. >.

I feel like the fan art pages needed a special mentions lol. It was a joy seeing those beautiful and unhinged masterpieces.

I'm so glad
Pay attention to the chapter covers
Keeping my eyes open O.O
For the colour page, in France we have them in colour. They're coloured by Oda if I remember well
Lucky! :P
Thank you very interesting ! In France the structure of the manga is a little different.
Is it really?? How interesting! Any real big differences from the US version?

You will see some cover stories will become importants for the main story
I feel like I'm already seeing that. I just found out the one cover I was confused about had the Monkey Brothers and Bellmay on it.
Great video! I'm a suckered for anything one piece
I'm definitely ready to get a ship and find a crew and sail until we hit something. >.< So I get it.
