I think it’s important to remember what the Bible says about children being treasures and also that we as moms are not all powerful. We have limits and have to rely on God daily! That means that yes, we need to sacrifice for our children selflessly, but also not feel guilty if we aren’t holding them 24/7. We need rest too, even if that just means doing the dishes alone or trading with our spouse when it comes to getting up with the baby at night. ❤

Your words of "racing around to put out fires and then the blame gets put on my children for my own lack of planning" and linking that to Proverbs 21:5 was an epiphany for me. Thank you. I know moms are all trying their best, and it's cool hearing other people's stories and perspectives. - 1st time listener to your channel

I wish we could be friends. You always have such thoughtful messages in your content. I was an only child, with divorced parents, and predominantly raised with extended female relatives. I do not necessarily fault them, but my biological parents did not know how to spend time with me. It was very adult-centric and controlled. Any child-like behavior was quickly torn down, so I often resorted to being alone and acting precocious. I always felt like a burden. God gave me such a blessing with the two female relatives who raised me. They never once scolded me for being curious about what they were doing or simply being present with them. If anything, they'd laugh and take joy from my onery antics. I know I must've driven them crazy at times, but their example is something I carried with me when I was an educator and I will repeat it as a mother. One by-product of this approach is that I do not fear cooking or baking. I view it as more of an art project than a task, which makes it so much more enjoyable and has allowed me to be messy and have fun. This is directly from these women letting me watch and participate during their time making meals. Your children will grow to be confident and view these household tasks as something beautiful!

As long as you are generally kind to your children and care reliably for their needs, your kids will be fine and you are what educational science calls a "good enough mother". Not doing this Job the way you would like to do it, the way you think it would be ideally done, does NOT make you a Bad mother. It is a disappointment to yourself - of how you thought you would be spendings this phase of your life. But that does NOT mean it is actually harming your children.
Moreover, mothers, circumstances, and children are different. There are children that are content being carried while mom works. Others demand Attention relentlessly. Yet others will not be carried but want to move freely, but run away or climb on things. Those mothers who say it can all be solved by being strict and consistent are simply lucky to have quiet, compliant children (or they don't, and beat them into obedience - which is definitely not acceptable).
