Dufferin-area survivalist and fire officials in showdown over nuclear shelter
Survival shelter takes a direct hit from fire officials in Dufferin County
The Ark Two survival shelter was designed to survive a nuclear blast, but it turns out just a few firemen and a welder could shut it down.
Bruce Beach had the shelter built in 1980 by burying 42 school buses underground and encasing them in tons of concrete.
It’s a virtual underground village that can house hundreds of people, and includes everything from a panic room and holding cell to a nursery and kitchen.
“The purpose is for us to survive a nuclear war . . . the facility itself serves as a centre for reconstruction for this area,” said Beach, referring to the site in Horning’s Mills, about 100 km northeast of Toronto.
“The idea is we bring in great supplies of food to then distribute . . . the phrase we use to describe it is an underground orphanage.”

His land, his buses - leave him alone.
public safety
@@Redrum-707 you're a Karen
so you have chosen ... very well then you shall be sacrificed upon the alter of "public safety" .
My shelter now
@@Redrum-707 Drink the blood of the priest as it flows from the alter! 💩👀😱🤣😂
Well listening to him he sounds like a very intelligent man my grandfather built his own in his backyard back World War II began I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it he hurting nobody is on private property good for him😊🇺🇸
Its like a vault. Vault 42. Made from 42 pre-war busses.
Good job.
yep he should write VAULT-TEC on the entrance
I cant wait to find and listen to his holotapes
Vault-42 would actually be a cool name for it.
Bringing in the raw materials and storing toys in the bunker must be a logistics nightmare for him and his elves.
So only finding out about this, anyone got any updates? This mans a genius
Police might want to rethink closing it down due to Coronavirus
God damn that coffee table kitchen table look moldy as f***
Had he just built them in a grid, with solar panel roofs, he could have had 42 tenants paying rent over 30 years.
One school bus designed as a mini house for 1 or 2 people, with solar panel roof & plexiglass skylight sitting room would have been housing for 40+ residents over 30+ years.
RV parks decline in profit.
NUCLEAR BUS HOMES SKY ROCKET
Leave this guy alone!
Rest in Peace Bruce.
I'd rather be dead than have to live in that tomb
I would rather be alive than dead.
Ark 2: Nuclear Boogaloo
Sir, you may have a new career.
All these underground bunkers . What happens if there is a flood following a catastrophic world ending event . Are they water tight?
Michael Nesbitt I think in one of his videos he mentioned that it was well above the sea/water level and that he does have a water pump system just incase. But most good shelters will be air/water tight and have some form of drainage chamber right in front of the main entrance for that very problem on top of typically having an entrance the is situated on a man-made Hill.
Wow... Impressive
Liking the ktchen table and chairs covered in black mold. His moldy bunker though.
Probably wishes he'd thought of shipping containers instead of buses... I love what he has done, but I'm not a fan of the bus set up.
School buses are build to a particular standard to support up to 1.5 times their weight on their roof.
Shipping containers are only stable to bear weight on their four corner points. He got the guy who designed the Toronto subway work on this, and this was his 24th Bunker he constructed personally.
So far, school buses seem to be your best bet for replicating this.
A bus has an arched ceiling, and will support more weight than a shipping container. (Thats why most of the buried shipping containers have to be so heavily re-enforced when buried.)
Also note that new shipping containers that aren't dented or rusted over can cost a crap load of money and weren't designed to be buried underground where if you don't reinforce the ceiling and the side walls (which greatly increases the cost) than overtime it will cave in. Now the best design option would be corrugated steel pipe that has been welded closed and surrounded by a layer of waterproofing material and reinforced concrete, but if your on a budget like the old man than school buses are your best option
There is also a thick layer of concrete around the school buses
It is amazing how many retards think burying shipping containers is a good idea.
I only know this type of school buses only from movie's but they have a front door and another one on the end .
So how they are connected?
Great job
Unless a bunch of people have been harmed, its not a safety issue.
I have been trying to get in touch with the shelter (email doesn't work and there is no phone number), just wondering if anyone has found a way to contact the shelter. I would love a tour! :)
I'm pretty sure the shelter is not sentient.
Looks like a fire trap waiting to happen.
that's why they want to seal it
Oh damn someone in bus 17 just farted and now I can't escape the smell!!
Santa wants to survive the apocalypse 😮
eventually they'll rust out and collapse
That might be an issue if the buses were structural.
Pretty Cool!
How on earth would you breathe??? You'd soon run out of air without some kind of mechanical ventilation!!
My favorite thing about this guy's bunker is that when you bring your kids with you they're not allowed to sleep near you families have to be separated from their children there's a children sector of the bunker and then there is an adult center of the bunker you know the standard stuff
Dude wants to take children underground to repopulate the earth😳
He should of put TAR on the outside of the buses ...they will eventually rust out....especially in Canada soil.
I think Tar would be toxic
That wasn't really a tour...
He is not hurting anyone.. the Gov just wants to tax him
Perhaps he can offer Ark 2 to genuine homeless families who could repay him with companionship and home cooked meals.
this dude even looks like noah
The shelter shouldn’t be sealed off!!! We have situations where we might need that bunker! Not all army bases are going to be able to take us in during a natural disaster! Some people have bunkers ready to hold others they should keep it open and be government property That the builder gets to do whatever they want with!
This man is sick "We're going to say to people: 'Well, we have room for your children, but we don't have room for you.' That's the nature of life... this is the lifeboat."
I think I would rather take my chances above ground with the nuclear radiation and Zombies rather than experience a slow claustrophobic death in those 42 buses.
...but does it have porn?
ROFLWAFFLE make your own porno in there! Repopulation is part of the reason it's there so....DURP!💩👀😱🤣😂
tour bus
it's gonna rust, the only way to build something that will last is cinder blocks, rebar, and concrete!
Sorry to bursts your bubble friend but rebar will rust just as fast if not faster!!! In fact the painted buses will last longer then the rebar!
The buses are the frame work for a massive block of reinforced concrete.
Tell that to the ancient Egyptians.
But what if there's a flood?
Check Mate.
But what if there's a flood? !!!!IT IS THE ARK TWO!!!!.. It will just float away...
The entrance is located on top of a man made hill and he does have water pumps just in case.
I was on one of thos pages where you had to read and click for the next page. I stopped at page too and googled his name....much much quicker than those annoying sites
Me too. I figured that out fast
I stopped at page 1 lol
Same lol
He would make a million $'s hiring that place out for a horror movie, it' so creepy inside
From all of us presently roaming around the commonwealth. We look forward to finding aArk 2 one day.

LucidDreams is that an fallout 4 insider?
so sad that the government cant do their job and just leave people and things that are no real treat alone. This bunker poses NO threat to anyone. They could just go on and do their jobs and just leave this man alone. GGGRRRRREEEEE so tired to peoples interference when its NOT needed.
myyuba we cant let anyone be self-sufficient and take emergency precautions into their own hands, that's our job
-the government
Jordan Stewart
Our apologies for the delay in taking emergency precautions for our citizens. We hope to resolve this situation in due course - The Government.
The scariest sentence in the world: "I'm from the government and I'm here to help!" Exactly, what does this Shelter have anything to do with the government? He is not living in it, he maintains it in case of emergency. And when he does intend to live in it there won't be any government to stop him. Leave him alone! If people go there and it collapses on their heads it is on them and no different than if they drove across a bridge and it collapsed. The left loves this insanity, we need more regulations! I say Congress should only meet once every 4 years like in Texas. That way they can't spend 365 days a year trying to figure out a way to muck up our lives.
Government wants control. They want to know everything you do. If everyone had the ability to dig and make bunkers the government would lose there minds because they have no control.
That moment you realize he is The player,..... we are the NPC's
I think your project is awesome and spot on for mankind’s future of survival
Oof- The moldy table! That place must reek. Mold can make you really sick.
Saw that too. Nasty
that would be a shitty place to live.
don't stop up the toilet and that's wrong!
I wish him his dreams.
a safety threat to who no one lives there yet
Grimes
Ok UA-cam, I'll watch this video
This may not work, school buses have flimsy tops and will corrode over time, although this sounds like a decent cheap way to go, it might be problematic.
Completely wrong. First: school buses have extremely robust tops, as they are legally required to. Second: the buses are not structural. They're a form that then had a massive amount of reinforced high-strength concrete poured around it. The arched roof makes this even stronger.
amazing!
Obviously he doesn't believe in God the Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit! If you all come to Jesus you won't need a bunker, all you need is Our Savior. In the Book Of Revelation tells you what's going to happen, and the believers won't be here for God's Wrath, only the Unbelievers will be, and like it says in the Bible they will flee into the mountains. You can't hide from the Hands Of God, wasted time when you should be reading the Word of God, that's how you prepare for the ends times WORLDLY ONES! ONLY JESUS CAN SAVE US, PERIOD!
Well now I know what to do with scrapped buses
One would make a petty good bomb shelter, but it would have to be in dry ground with good drainage away from the bus. I've seen a few old underground shelters constructed in places with poor drainage and they end up being just a hole full of water. Can't put 'em just any ol' place; gotta pick a good spot.
I bet he's not crazy anymore 🙃
Too much time on his hands.
That wasn't much of a tour.
If he has grand children, I bet they always wanna go see Grandpa, I know I would.
wait this is canadian
Guess who laughs now
Laughs in *corona*
:(
That's the craziest thing I've ever seen.
Future super fund cleanup.
genius
should build under water !!!!
How does it smell in there?
surprisingly musky
hint of lemons
touch of herbal essences
Where is this in Canada
Kejimikujik National Park in the province of Saskatchewan, somewhere along the Newfoundland River.....but no farther north than Ontario.
Just a bus fetish, he likes the feel of being in one. That's all this is. In no way is this to protect anyone lol
I can't tell if this is a terrible joke or not.
