The thing is, I would have even been fine with the changes if they had at least gone hard with the new Arcane version. But what we got in the show just looks so much better than the new model lmao
I remember vividly when the 1st season of Arcane came, the reason why Viktor was so popular among LoL fans was because everyone wondered how this good guy would turn into the armored cyborg we know If you look at all the champions in the game who appeared in Arcane, all of them are fairly represented by their kit and skins, meaning if you enjoyed Arcane Jayce or Arcane Jinx, you can play as them with the skin and you truly feel like you're playing the same character, but if you prefer the LoL version, you simply use another skin or the base one With Viktor however they never showed his machine part in the serie and doubled down in the magical powers, which is a problem for the original Viktor players because now they don't have their champion, and it's a problem for the Arcane fans because they kept his old outdated kit, so they look at this Hextech Magical Jesus who's controlling cyborg and runes, but in game he's using technology as if he was Batman, it's completely out of toich for both fandoms
I got excited when I saw the arm Viktor was developing in Arcane, because I felt the Machine Herald journey was well underway, and then they decided to go the Hextech route... and boom, perfect opportunity down the drain.
In Arcane I got some Malzahar vibes from Viktor than the real Machine Herald Viktor. I had every skin for him, now his base version is the only acceptable.
I think Warwick's identity is also pretty weak between Arcane and League; if you watched S1/S2 of Arcane and decided to play LoL, you probably couldn't even recognize which character it is.
His arcane version is much better, his focus was always on "glorious evolution", the metal part was a copy of Dr. Doom. The problem is that he didn't please Arcane fans or the 4 Main Viktors. He's all colorful, he has spiky hair, it looks very strange, it looks like they did it in a hurry. The kit too, whoever came from Arcane won't see anything about Viktor from there in this kit. Riot wanted to please everyone, but ended up pleasing no one.
I have to disagree, his arcane version is not better, I'd say it is just different. In season 1 Viktor was my fav character and I was expecting on how he may become the mechanical cyborg he is in game. Instead, they followed a distintive path in season 2; which I didnt dislike, but didnt meet my expectations. I feel they are too different to be the same character anymore and I'm feeling sad and disappointed Riot will get rid of the old Viktor in favor of the new one.
That's what happens when you fire half your writing team and then force the remaining stragglers to somehow create a single league canon in which viktor is both a cyborg mastermind and evil arcane jesus at the same time
All of this literally could have been fixed by, I don't know, making an Arcane Viktor Skin??? Like with the rest of the cast?? But no, let's totally annihilate a character completely in more ways than one by also retconning the story completely, even though Vi, Jayce, Caitlyn and Jinx kept their old ones. It seems that when making a completely new character isn't an option, deleting an existing one is preferable for Riot. Awesome. I wonder how that would work with industry staples like Ghost from Call of Duty. Make a skinny twink out of him and rewrite his entire character save for one singular aspect of his entire being and see how that shit would go down.
Yes, that's my main issue with Arcane... The anticipation of Viktor supposedly turning into a 'cyborg,' but instead, he's more of a Hextech, Hexcore character than a true machine herald. It would have been cooler if his entire body, which was decimated by Jayce, had been turned into mechanical parts to better fit the 'machine herald' concept.
As a robo fanatic the fact that’s your biggest issue with Arcane confuses me. Like really, the fact that Zaun got shafted from the plot last minute and is now canonically still a colony of Piltover should be a lot higher on your list of priorities.
@katelawyer3689 we could be going covering a later story in time which fucks up story a lot when done wrong. Maybe he goes from arcane to machines and during that transition he takes zaun and breaks it off from pullover. Chances of that being the plan they go with seems very low.
I quitted for good around when they released Breakout True Damage Ekko and when they were questioned about the cosmetics being rather too expensive, they made the defence that it's meant for collectors and not for "common folk" I had an idea where this game was going to go after that. Now we have 200$ skins and this inglorious devolution. It hurts my soul man AND THE FUCKING VANGUARD TOO
"Viktors old story suck". Ehhh, nope! When his story was change 2016, he had one of the best stories of all champs. "And was very old". Old, yes, its from 2016, but some champs have older stories.
I just wanna clarify that I myself does by no means think that Viktors old lore was bad or even outdated. I brought it up in the video because I’ve seen a lot of people bring it up and it’s just a stupid thing to say no matter how you spin it.
I personally don’t think his story sucked, but i think his design failed to deliver on it. Even though i prefer arcane Viktor, im kinda sad that we’ll never get to see the old viktor with a design on the same level as his story.
Yep this hurts a lot as a Viktor main. Yes old Viktor lore may not be the best but it was decent plus Riot could have focused on updating the story but they chose not to and now using the Arcane excuse to piss of true viktor mains Join the Glorious Revert-Lution
I've seen the argument a lot about how "Viktors old lore was bad" as if that fact isn't true for every champ in the game lmao. In S1 of arcane they didn't stick to the lore 100% for every character but they always stayed true to the general themes of those characters. In season 2 they took a lot more creative liberties and it affects champs like Viktor and Warwick greatly..
@@Sizzox dude this isnt even about viktor lore for me, why would they change how he looks so much. This guy looks so weak and "disgusting" the machine herald was honestly just cool. Why change that so much, just becasue the show. They could hvae just done an arcane skin similar to ekko, jinx, ww, basically everybody
Yeah it’s absurd how they just decided to change literally everything. Well, everything except for the one thing people wanted them to change which is his W xd
I think new Viktor's lore is better right now and I hope I could say the same about the rework. Old model is way better than the new one (skins included) and the new one isn't even alike to the show design.
@@Sizzox they took creative liberties because it was stated since season 1 that arcane is an alternate universe it's riot's fault for forcing arcane 2 to be canon last minute because duuuh moneyyy xD and there's so much proof for this argument like while arcane 2 was in production, there was a comic with ekko, jayce and viktor that portrayed him as our beloved machine herald they also released zeri and renata who's stories just can't fit in the arcane universe and many more points that prove arcane was never intended to be canon my only hope is that future shows won't alter the story anymore since now the writers know that what they make WILL be canon, unlike the arcane writers who basically got pranked and are now receiving targeted hate because of riot's choice past retcons of league lore were done to improve the quality of the storytelling and since they dropped the summoners thing and focused on runeterra with many stories, cinematics, comics, books, games... the lore became what it is today and allowed arcane to even exist this recent retcon tho? this one was made just because of greed and now they don't even have writers to rewrite the stories of so many champions and regions that got affected by arcane's canonisation, because they got fired :)
I think that I don’t mind the move to arcane for him, but.. they didn’t make the move whatsoever? They didn’t change him to be more “arcane-powered” nor did they go full arcane either - he doesn’t feel like the arcane viktor and now he won’t feel like the machine herald either. My main point is that they didn’t just pick a side and go full into it, they hovered on both trying to please both sides
Yeah I agree. If they had given him a new and great kit in order to let us live the ”arcane jesus” power fantasy then that could have at least been fun. But right now, it feels more like they just took something away and didn’t even replace it with something nice.
They could at least give us a passive that evolve our “allies” into robots when they die like we have with lissandra just to implement them into the game
I loved Arcane Viktor, I really did. But he isn't "The Machine Herald". I understand that riot just deleted the old Viktor in favor for the most favorite one, the Arcane Viktor, but they just messed up so bad! Why did they didn't just put more machine like power into Arcane Viktor or just didn't updated the new Viktor to completely look like Arcane Viktor?! Basically all Arcane champions are NOT the game champions, most of them doesn't even look the same by the end of Arcane as their counterpart. They retcon the good things, not only the bad things, of all Piltover and Zaun and that's just sad... For a series that is not even confirmed to be the canon lore (and if it is there's so much conflict and plot holes with everything else, that it's frustrating).
This finally got me to quit league Idk, 8 million mastery viktor main here. I wish they would have just picked a side. This feels awful. Misses the Arcane Mark. Misses the Machine Mark. Missed everything. Huge L.
@@RyuHardGore Nah, I've never played League. Heard it was good though. Though apparently people are now quitting it because of a show changing the lore, so maybe it's not good anymore? Idk.
You are not wrong. The Viktor design in arcane is very cool but at the moment to bring that to LOL they did an awful job. This Viktor ASU is like a cheap variant of him made by hasbro for 5 dollars. Its a big downgrade for Viktor and that without bringing deathsworn skin to the table because OMG, who approved this should be fired for real.
Bro, I know almost all champions lore and Viktor's old lore was pretty good in my opinion. Even I'm not playing this champion at all I still really liked his old story and I was fascinated by his will to change everything into robots in order to eliminate humans weaknessess such as emotions and flesh decay. This Arcane magic based glorious evolution is just a cheap bullshit in my eyes, sorry Riot. In addition I agree with you that the new model is awful in comparison to old one.
Yeah I really don’t know what people have been smoking when they say that this is a good thing because Viktor used to have ”bad lore”. His old lore is better than the lore of almost all the other Arcane champs.
This. Thank you. I loved the character even more when I read his lore. Laurits Rask has an amazing artwork illustrating the feel of the whole inventor offering to help by augmentation concept. He wasn't a generic "become robot" character. He had morals and trials at hand, he was dedicated to his work. Presented as a villain at first sight, actually working with good intention when you look at the details. It was just nice.
totally agree with you, i think they should stick to doing a single skin for arcane and leave the champions that work the same without changes, i would feel so scammed if i had the skins of viktor and now he looked like a twig with a mask and a floating hand, like every skin was a downgrade, how can they mess up that bad and not realize this is just gonna kill the viktor players, i was angry because they delayed the shyvana rework to rework viktor, until i saw what they did to him, now i'm kinda glad my main champion didnt get the arcane treatment
Yeah one thing is for sure and that is that most of everyone at r/viktormains are not happy... I get that his design was cool in the context of arcane but I also can't help but feel that everyone who loves this new design would have also loved it if Viktor had instead walked into the hexgate base in episode 209 looking all geared up in a dark iron-man like suit. His design really didn't need to change for the story to work and that is what's so annoying about all this.
@@sekki327 it had potential with the white robots, but it has nothing to do with viktor in league, they are two separate entities at this point and should have been treated as such.
@@sekki327 Characters in LoL are just inspirations of some pop culture thing until they are eventually expounded upon. I liked Viktor, but his game lore was goofy and revolves around stereotypical scientists villain. I liked him because of that, he's like a crazy Soviet inventor
First of all, I just want to say, I LOVE the Viktor in Arcane, I think it successfully carry old Viktor's story of him being an emotionless reformer whose ultimate goal is just trying to improve the Zaunite's life, but in a very dictated way. I love his new design and the body horror of how his face is split open for a new mask to form on top of it. But forcing Arcane Viktor into the Core Lore just mess everything up, and the "update" massacred all of his skin, why isnt Prototype Viktor look like in the show!? On the gameplay side, changes for his ult doesnt enough to be call an ASU, or "change" even. I wish theyve done something more with his ability to "Evolve" people at his will if they force him into Runeterra
Looking at the comments, I don't think some people can watch and break down a 4 minute and 27 sec video properly. They still think you're saying "I prefer old Viktor over new" when I believe you're saying "I welcome any chance to redo Viktor's look, but this new look focuses more on the arcane/magic reincarnation theme, which has already been executed well with Xerath, Malzahar, Brand, etc." We do not have any other human champion that redesigns themselves through Hextech. We have Hextech creations (Blitz and Orianna) and Hextech augmentation (Camille, Vi, Jayce) but current Viktor was unique. Clunky, ugly but unique. I believe Arcane Viktor also suffered from the bad pacing of S2. There are so many examples of rushed developments in S2 like Mel, Ambessa, Caitlyn's ending and I think it gets overshadowed by the amazing animation, proper arcs (Ekko, Singed) and music chorography of the show. My two cents.
Yeah you get it 100%. I was looking forward to the rework before I actually saw what it looked like because I expected it to keep to at least keep the theme of the character. I do generally like what they did in arcane but I also think they fumbled Viktor (and a few other plotlines) in episode 8 and 9. It could have worked really well up until that point but they didn’t really stick the landing imo. Anyways, I am working on a followup video because this current one was pretty rushed and didn’t exactily go through the problems in great detail.
Thank you for your Analysis, you respected the old desing instead of just say "old is bad new is good". People are Arguing that many so called viktor mains appeared just now to say sh*t but they never tought that really theres no reason to complain before, the only thing viktor received was a slightly rework on the effects of his abilities.
He's not robotic/mechanical anymore, just magical. You are so right. They lost the theme of the character. It's just sad. He is not himself anymore. They could have just made the arcane skin or even a new champion, idk. This is just so bad.
I dont understand the reasoning. its not like they changed the main model of jinx to the arcane. they just gave her an Arcane Skin. they should have dont the same for Victor. or just released a new victor to co exist with the current one. maybe with another name from another multiverse. the arcane lore opens up for multiverses anyway.
I hate that his skins had ton of details, shoulder plates etc... now he has NOTHING! they just scrapped so much from him... even the mask looks bad on his spooky skin :(
You could not have said it better. Back when I was a newb, I wanted to pick up a champion that both looked cool and had potential to develop. The first thing that drew me to Viktor was the death sworn skin. The whole edgy looking mask made me think hell yeah, evil and intimidating man. And it so happened to be the champion that suited my style best. The whole machine aesthetic strengthened it for me. I was already interested in materials and engineering, and Viktor seemed like a funny thought I'd have about a life goal to create armor. Thus I was drawn to his design. And now, I'm trying to accept what they have turned my boy into. I always wanted funny robot man, not an eldritch void mage. If I wanted that I'd have been playing Malz, or someone similar in looks like Ryze. They just made him look so skinny. I would **not** have minded this being a skin, but this as the whole VGU just doesn't feel right. They could have done a better job. I'm not hating, at least we got sick voice lines.
As someone who had her own favorite champs butchered for a cash grab, you just gotta remember that you don't have to accept riot's decisions perse. After all canon is what we make of it. Personally i completely discard arcane as glorified fanfiction and stay in my own bubble, away from the fandom and the game
@helen, Arcane is good bro… it just shouldn’t be canon to the broader IP. Also I’m still annoyed by that other comment you made on this video, aka, you’re on thin ice buddy.
Anyone who played Viktor for atleast 20 games realises how bad this update is be and its gonna be ,I'm honestly shocked with the fact riot took such a dumb decision i've wrote them a ticket and i encourage everyone who think the same as me, do the same! We need to give them a wake up call that the update its not the right thing to do
yeah not gonna happen, knowing the rito and their work they would of rather shut down the entire company rather than listening to people about a rework xd
Now that he isn't the machine Herald anymore who tf made Blitzcrank Blitzcrank. Can we remove him because he doesnt fit with the Arcane stuff anymore? (I am just disappointet)
If they could commit to redesigning his kit sure, but they simply could not pick a lane as previous fears of “isolating old champion mains” were consolidated with ruining what he was aesthetically. Victor now masquerades as his former self, if they really want to call him a VGU it may aswell be all or nothing, he’s not the machine herald anymore
Don't worry, as a veteran aatrox main I feel your pain heart-warmly, but I assure you CsLoL will do the job and you will still enjoy your beloved champ in it's prime, well at least you will with it's base kit, not with a redesigned one...
@@Sizzox lately I've been addicted to Kalista, and honestly what I love about her is that is quite "forgotten". I'm not saying this cause I want to feel special in any way (I already play LoL so of course I already am special in my own way), but the champ feels special itself: the bugs, the mechanics, the tricks I've been learning like the double jump or the double Rend... This all just feels UNIQUE, and not only this, but I've been playing Aatrox during his 46% Wr and that taught me a lot about building and adapting my play style to the meta, and same is happening with Kalista. Now i've been gathering knowledge about Kalista for quite a small amount of time, but even then, there are Kalista players with millions of points, image if now, after 9 years she has been out, riot decides to take off 9 years of someone's experience, practice and mastering and replace it with an "easy to approach" kit which removes the unique technicality of Kalista with a normie-like adc...
i watched arcane before starting league but like i think the machine herald design is much cooler, i don't know why they have to force so many redesigns instead of just making an arcane specific skin like for every other champ in arcane???
Old Viktor had agency in his evolution. he turned himself into something people would call a monster of his own free will. Viktor in arcane had things happen to him and accidentally lucked out into turning into a god. It's just so uninteresting and boring. And that is just personality wise and ignoring the fact that his new design suck ass.
I was so excited expecting a cool Viktor VGU even before act 3 aired, and I'm in the same boat as many, now I just want them to leave him alone, and just for them to add his Jesus skin. I liked arcane, but I also was disappointed that he did not make an armor for himself for the last act... in game, even his new base skin does not even look like in arcane. They all look low quality, I have played this game for 11 years and had never been so disappointed with this game. (This and the new gotcha system)
Not even maining Viktor but I did see him as a cool machine herald who had his own personality. Now it's all stripped away and makes me fear that champions we know already such as Vlad would also go through a complete devolution. Every new remake is just sad to witness because it's always uninspired anime trash if your champion isn't a bruiser or a tank.
runeforge - old viktor Riots gonna target my shyvana next. Standing by for runeforge. Currently using : old ahri, ezreal, caitlyn for better animation quality .
So they are doing the exact same thing they did to Aatrox (except not with Viktor's kit, but his lore). Both Aatrox and Viktor's identity got absolutely gutted.
Traditional Skin should have been made for Viktor 100% (every Rework should have one *Maybe not all of them*) I like the new look a bit but I'm going to miss his old Design
Arcane ruined viktor. I honestly hated where they went with hexcore because I would much rather have science over just BUUH MAGIC!! Like that's so boring... Magic is boring, give ME ROBOTSSSSSSS. I was so excited for the moment where vitkor turns into a cyborg, but NOOO MAGIC WHERE HE BASICALLY GETS CONTROLLED AND IT ISN'T HIM HIMSELF BUILDING IT.......................
@YourLocalEldritchHorror his like evolved form doesn't even have any tech, it just turns people into robots with magic which is not what I want from viktor. I want him to use his hands to make a robot that is fully mechanical. That is what I had expected.
You are right on them removing effects IDK why they do this all the time, a lot of Morgana skins got butchered because of that during her visual upgrade. Hell Blackthorn used to be my favorite skin of her, and now i'd like to have it refunded...
Here my version of what a Viktor Rework would have been Passives : Hexcore : Viktor's spells get upgrades based on the number of takedowns. (1/3/5/7/10) Ultimate upgrade can only be unlocked in last. Mark of the heralt : Viktor's spells apply a mark to the enemies, up to 5 times, increasing effects of his spells. Evolution : Viktor recover a small part of the damages done based on number of Mark. Q : Arcanic touch : Viktor throw a projectile to an enemy dealing damages, enhancing his next attack and granting him a shield, stronger based on number of Mark on him. His next attack do increased damages and grant him movement speed based on number of Mark of the target. Evolution : Both parts of the spell do reduced splash damages. W : Mind Control : Viktor call his evolveds to catch the first enemy champion and stun him for a duration based on number of Mark. Evolution : Doesn't stop on the first enemy anymore. E : Death ray : Viktor fire a ray dealing damages, increased based on number of Mark. Evolution : The ray explode. R : Glorious Evolution : Viktor summons an area dealing damages every 0,5 sec for 3 seconds, grounding and stacking slow on enemies with Marks inside of it. If an enemy is affected by 5 Marks, it is instead suppressed for 1.5 second. (Only once per cast) Evolution : If an enemy hurted by the spell die, the duration is refreshed and the size increase.
First time huh? I experienced this with Galio. I was a Galio main, max mastery, mid lane one trick. He was the perfect counter mage, a role no one fills today besides Mundo of all people. He gained power by building only MR. He had a unique taunt ultimate that could come in surprisingly clutch. Then his rework came along. And what did we get? Sett. We got Sett with panth ultimate. His passive """"scales"""" with mr. But there's no point to building mr because what is one punch every 5 seconds actually going to do for your dps. He's an ap bruiser now. Nothing unique about him. Glad to see Riot still enjoys ruining champs. I'll add it to the bin with poppy and whatever the fuck Rek'sai has become.
I was so hyped to see how he became the way he was. I was thinking him dying forced him to become more machine than man and in a sort of cyberpsychosis similar to cyberpunk, the mechanical part of Viktor starts to mess with his sense of reality
What pisses me off also is they didnt even make him look like the one in arcane he got spiked hair not dangling long ones and crown on mask and body details dont match what we got in arcane such a disappointment hope they fix it before he goes to live servers
why do arcane only fans keep talking about viktor´s rework if they haven´t touched the game once in the past? Are they neuro divergent or smth? Legit we have been playing this shit for 13+ years yet riot listens to what arcane´s audience has to say instead of us? This is not an improvement on viktor, this is straight up overwriting it, it disgusts me, how can they trow a theme and concept into the trash like it´s playerbase is worth nothing? They didn´t just rework it, they changed the whole concept of it. If you have to change viktor´s tittle to fit the rework then it ain´t the same character, it´s just a new one. And then what´s left? Noone that played viktor before will keep playing it, and the people that came in from arcane will soon leave the game, viktor will have even a lesser pickrate. This shit just opens the door for riot to mess with more characters if given the opportunity.
@@_friedtofu So basically you can´t watch the show without giving the shittiest takes ever about the game you did never play? Your right you ain´t a neurodivergent for that, you´re straight up just a selfish moron. And also, respectfully, your comprehension skills are ass
The designs feel rushed, like why in the new design is the track the arm used to sit on his shoulder still there for instance the full machine, the blue on his shoulder was originally where the track the arm would move on was, but if it is not attached there anymore why keep it? It's also weird full machine now looks like nothing found in the show or in machine based champs from the game, at least you got a blitzcrank kinda vibe from the og skin. I'm no viktor main but I really feel like they should have made one of the skins his arcane version and kept his base in line with his game version. Like if his final form in arcane is technically him being full machine, change full machine to Arcane Viktor, and keep his base skin as his League version. That way atleast people who like the show get a win and the fan base that actually spent years with this character also get a win.
What I also don't like is even if you completely disregard how they threw away the old lore and themes, this in game model isn't even the same design as the show, it's worse, the face shape got considerably more triangular, he doesn't have his rune halo anymore, and the colors have less contrast
Also, the skins got a worse design and direction with better technical quality The staff and 3rd arm wich play a huge role in his silhouette, got smarller and less noticeable in many skins
Everything about Arcane Viktor's weird almost Lovecraftian/digitial/multiverse magic does not fit to his original robot/mechanical kit's theme at all. After every hard nerf of Riot trying to prevent Viktor from being pro scene, I let him go after 8 years of playing. My pool has consisted of old Aatrox, Sol, Urgot and Swain, along minor champ overhauls like Cass and nothing feels worse then having your champion's kit essentially erased or identity completely changed into something else entirely. Sometimes it's better, or sometimes it's essentially the same champ with other bells and whistles. However I still play everyone above, and enjoy em now. All I can say is that you get used to it and hopefully enjoy or at least get used to the changes. I'm sorry ya'll, the feeling sucks and it doesn't get better having to get used to losing things you love about your comfort picks.
I like the new model but i do get that viktor mains might be dissapointed. I was kind of dissapointed how warwick turned out in the last episode (i know its him before warwick) but i liked the werewolf model more that was in the earlier episodes instead of temu galio
Nah your correct. They ruined his in game model. All they had to do was just add a unique skeleton for viktors arcane version and leave the rest alone and done. But nope ruined every other skin he had. The only one that still looks somewhat decent is Creator. Also fuck Arcane. I just realized looking up the name of that skin that he made Blitzcrank not Singed yet we didnt see him.
Imagine arcane fans vs league of legends fans will be a brawl or debate fight league of legends fans be like "Old Viktor is better than this new one" and arcane fans be like "Whaat nah bro this new Viktor looks crazy he was jut like in the series everyone loves watch arcane series even you're the only one who outrage the game". They're just always keep fighting.😅
Honestly something i would've preferred was if they added this skin to the arcane skin they released for him. Like with fractured Jinx, where she has 3 skins in one and switches between them. Instead of reworking his base Design they could've done the same. Maybe even add s1 viktor as a basic human with the hexclaw we saw in episode 4 and then the 2 other skins with savior viktor and the finale viktor.
I understand that rito wanted to make Victor the League Jesus, but they have removed almost all connections with TECHNOLOGY, it's mostly magic now. Arcane was great, but this VU is more like a Visual downgrade instead of an upgrade and the kit now just does not make sense. What is the Q supposed to be, where was that in the show? A boomerang? The only thing Victor did in the show was use the laser and that could've been a really cool change to his kit. Idk it just seems that rito cannot stop fucking up with league of legends.
This Viktor visual should just bee a legendary skin or something like that, and Arcane should just be an alternate universe from the game's universe. If they are making arcane the main universe and reworking characters based off of that, Caytlin is getting a eyepatch? Jayce is going to grow a beard and a broken leg? Jinx is going to cut her hair?
This'd be such an easy fix! Make the cinematic as Viktor returning from the end season 2, make him try to patch himself without the corrupted hexcore, his natural "frame" had to be covered by armor to compensate. We'd get the glorious evolution of a 7ft tall machine God! He'd act less like a human due to augments not some nonesense arcane entity pulling his strings, he means well but the cold methodology makes the separaation between him and Jayce. All this could've worked in the end yet we got the version who died/disappeared maybe 15 mins of screentime after his first debuit
I just don't understand why they couldn't give is a Traditional Viktor skin or do what they did with Thresh where he has a new canonical appearance now and has a skin to show it. This genuinely sucks as Viktor was one of the few Mid Laners I played and I played him because I liked the design. Now I just feel disdain for it.
Arcane Viktor works well as a separate, tragic character. But as a League Champion...why would anyone want to play as a victim of magic who only got to 'power up' for 10 minutes onscreen before he died?
I'm a Warwick main who enjoyed the old Warwick, and I mean *old* Warwick; the Warwick that was an alchemist who made horrific poisons and had Singed as an apprentice. I relate to your pain of seeing your character 'disappear', but I will say that you will come to enjoy the new design in time. A lot of the grief from Viktor's latest design is that he needs a smidgen more metal in his base form, and some of his skins need minor texture tweaks. A lot of the Viktor mains are throwing their toys out the pram, and you made an actual argument and suggested improvements instead of screaming for a revert (that will never happen).
There is concept art from the Arcane artbook that had Viktor looking more robotic, like a mix of his original and new design, and not having the stupid abs. Idk why they didn't go with that design. Also I really hate his split faced mask, it looks really ugly imo, the original mask looked a lot cooler.
As someone that literally never plays Viktor, I still absolutely get where you're coming from. I won't lie, this new version of him makes me more likely to try him out in the future, but that's just because it leans more into Arcane Viktor than 'machine' Viktor. That being said, if they went full Arcane I would probably be playing him right now... instead, they went for a sort of hybrid that mostly fails in both regards. Another thing that kind of kills it for me is that he doesn't even have the same VA as Arcane...
My real issue is that Riot didn't want to commit to the Arcane design. Like, yes, the VGU and Aecane designs are _similar,_ but there are noticable differences between them that make the VGU model just... wrong. For one, the colors. Why is he so saturated? Arcane Viktor has a desaturated purple for his 'flesh', burnished bronze metal pieces and a dark blue and red cape. VGU Viktor has bright blue skin, gold metal pieces and a rotal blue and pinkish-red cape. Yes, these colors make the design more readable from League's camera perspective, but it just looks *off* when both the Splash Art and the Arcane design both use the same color palette. Second, the fucking faceplate. This is the real kicker for me. The point of the version in the Arcane design was the body horror. You can clearly see the halves of Viktor's human face pulled to the side to make space for the new head, and the geometric shape of the faceplate helped sell that idea. The new faceplate in the Splash Art does this as well, but to a far lesser extent. But the version on the in-game model just looks like the Pre-VGU mask with weird face-like designs on the jaw. The body horror is *gone,* and the design _suffers_ as a result. Also, the hair. In Arcane, Viktor's hair looks like that because he's been unable to properly style it after leaving Piltover, and he hasn't cleaned it since Jayce killed him; so it's greasy, matted, and hangs low to his shoulders. But in the in-game model, they just gave him Pre-VGU Viktor's hair. Like, seriously? It's not like that makes the design any more or less readable from a distance, and his hair being so pronounced actually messes with the silhouette by partially hiding the Hex-Claw. And what makes it worse is that they clearly know how to make the Arcane hair work in League because the Arcane Savior skin *has that hairstyle.* Either put Arcane Viktor into League or *don't.* Commit to the bit. Don't try to merge the designs when theyre both doing something completely different. Pre-VGU Viktor is supposed to look like a cyborg terminator with mad scientist hair, Arcane Viktor is supposed to look like a metal mesiah. Those are incompatible concepts.
Honestly if they gave the new Death skin the old mask and the particle effects it would probably be superior, imo. But as of now, that's the skin that's been done the most dirty. And I don't even play the game.
Tbh they should have gone full vgu cuz his nobody likes his current kit anyways besides the 3 viktor mains. Plus the model looks like an akward inbetween of old and new viktor.
old viktor 100% better, also the new legendary is just the opposite of my expectation of 5 plus years waiting and dreaming for a cool legendary skin for viktor that could have been like dragon master or final boss.... and we got... spirit blossom hwei viktor legendary skin... gg riot

@ it does look like sht tho :(
The thing is, I would have even been fine with the changes if they had at least gone hard with the new Arcane version. But what we got in the show just looks so much better than the new model lmao
four
i am crying rn
I remember vividly when the 1st season of Arcane came, the reason why Viktor was so popular among LoL fans was because everyone wondered how this good guy would turn into the armored cyborg we know
If you look at all the champions in the game who appeared in Arcane, all of them are fairly represented by their kit and skins, meaning if you enjoyed Arcane Jayce or Arcane Jinx, you can play as them with the skin and you truly feel like you're playing the same character, but if you prefer the LoL version, you simply use another skin or the base one
With Viktor however they never showed his machine part in the serie and doubled down in the magical powers, which is a problem for the original Viktor players because now they don't have their champion, and it's a problem for the Arcane fans because they kept his old outdated kit, so they look at this Hextech Magical Jesus who's controlling cyborg and runes, but in game he's using technology as if he was Batman, it's completely out of toich for both fandoms
That's what happens when you fire half your writing team and then force the remaining stragglers to somehow create a single league canon in which viktor is both a cyborg mastermind and evil arcane jesus at the same time
They literally jdut took the masculinity from him. Now he is arcane jesus. Not bad but should be its own character
@@oo--7714Muscularity was not even a huge thing for him. They did him dirty, but it was not because of that.

Yes old Viktor lore may not be the best but it was decent plus Riot could have focused on updating the story but they chose not to and now using the Arcane excuse to piss of true viktor mains
Join the Glorious Revert-Lution
@@Sizzox they took creative liberties because it was stated since season 1 that arcane is an alternate universe
it's riot's fault for forcing arcane 2 to be canon last minute because duuuh moneyyy xD
and there's so much proof for this argument
like while arcane 2 was in production, there was a comic with ekko, jayce and viktor that portrayed him as our beloved machine herald
they also released zeri and renata who's stories just can't fit in the arcane universe
and many more points that prove arcane was never intended to be canon
my only hope is that future shows won't alter the story anymore since now the writers know that what they make WILL be canon, unlike the arcane writers who basically got pranked and are now receiving targeted hate because of riot's choice
past retcons of league lore were done to improve the quality of the storytelling and since they dropped the summoners thing and focused on runeterra with many stories, cinematics, comics, books, games... the lore became what it is today and allowed arcane to even exist
this recent retcon tho? this one was made just because of greed and now they don't even have writers to rewrite the stories of so many champions and regions that got affected by arcane's canonisation, because they got fired :)
@ Exactly. And in the end, we still have 0 changes to the one spell I think we all wanted changed and instead changed R. Sad rework from riot
i thought he was gonna at least use the robots from the show. i wanted his kit to get more changes.
And they didnt please any side ☠
Old Viktor was so much better in so many ways. Crazy downgrade
Viktor old lore was dope as fuck Idgaf what anyone else says.
We need the cancellation of the visual update, and Arcane can be released as a legendary skin, just like all other champions got Arcane skins!
This finally got me to quit league

glad you pointed this out old viktor represents evolution and hard work, new viktor is just shortcut easy power
Bad rework , i even bad reworks in the past did good job on the design
Officially worst visual rework. All arguments were in point. Firts rework was far superior to this one.
totally agree with you, i think they should stick to doing a single skin for arcane and leave the champions that work the same without changes, i would feel so scammed if i had the skins of viktor and now he looked like a twig with a mask and a floating hand, like every skin was a downgrade, how can they mess up that bad and not realize this is just gonna kill the viktor players, i was angry because they delayed the shyvana rework to rework viktor, until i saw what they did to him, now i'm kinda glad my main champion didnt get the arcane treatment
They fucked up viktor's character so bad in arcane s2
It was definitely a tad rushed but I think it all came together well
@creepz9886 definitely not, they ruined the character. We were waiting for the glorious evolution we had power of friendship.
They still think you're saying "I prefer old Viktor over new" when I believe you're saying "I welcome any chance to redo Viktor's look, but this new look focuses more on the arcane/magic reincarnation theme, which has already been executed well with Xerath, Malzahar, Brand, etc."
We do not have any other human champion that redesigns themselves through Hextech.
Anyways, I am working on a followup video because this current one was pretty rushed and didn’t exactily go through the problems in great detail.
viktor looks more like hwei now
Thank you for your Analysis, you respected the old desing instead of just say "old is bad new is good".
This is just so bad.
new lore is cool, we just miss his machine part
I dont understand the reasoning. its not like they changed the main model of jinx to the arcane. they just gave her an Arcane Skin. they should have dont the same for Victor. or just released a new victor to co exist with the current one. maybe with another name from another multiverse. the arcane lore opens up for multiverses anyway.
I hate that his skins had ton of details, shoulder plates etc... now he has NOTHING! they just scrapped so much from him... even the mask looks bad on his spooky skin :(
What should have been to Viktor is something like cyborg Darth Vader with droid army he created. Not a mage and magic powered robots.
@ That's fair, I suppose. Thanks for your wisdom.
@helen, Arcane is good bro… it just shouldn’t be canon to the broader IP. Also I’m still annoyed by that other comment you made on this video, aka, you’re on thin ice buddy.

Q :
Arcanic touch : Viktor throw a projectile to an enemy dealing damages, enhancing his next attack and granting him a shield, stronger based on number of Mark on him. His next attack do increased damages and grant him movement speed based on number of Mark of the target.
Evolution : Both parts of the spell do reduced splash damages.
W :
Mind Control : Viktor call his evolveds to catch the first enemy champion and stun him for a duration based on number of Mark.
Evolution : Doesn't stop on the first enemy anymore.
E :
Death ray : Viktor fire a ray dealing damages, increased based on number of Mark. Evolution : The ray explode.
R :
Glorious Evolution : Viktor summons an area dealing damages every 0,5 sec for 3 seconds, grounding and stacking slow on enemies with Marks inside of it. If an enemy is affected by 5 Marks, it is instead suppressed for 1.5 second. (Only once per cast)
Evolution : If an enemy hurted by the spell die, the duration is refreshed and the size increase.

Also, the skins got a worse design and direction with better technical quality
The staff and 3rd arm wich play a huge role in his silhouette, got smarller and less noticeable in many skins
Viktor = Machine , Xerath = Arcane
S2 writing Viktor = Xerath. Wasted all of S1 setup of him.
They even downgraded the shuffle
This what happens when you lay off most of your creative workforce. Even the Exalted skin looks like a glorified legendary
i mean victor in arcane is a thing its good but its just not league victor
They shoud have only released it as an Arcane skin and that's it not the full remodel XD
I'm beging for a some day the old aurelion return
This is the worse visual update

The design of Viktor has been likened to aliens that might come to Earth in the future.
"this fucking sucks actually"
*literally the coolest thing ever*
I'm watching this video thinking you are using viktors new model. I think "that skin looks good".
Oh, that is the old model. lol...
Riot tryna make arcane canon is certainly a thing that happens
So happy my Gen8 Starter finally got to be in League of Legends
This is so bad in every aspect
Arcane Viktor works well as a separate, tragic character. But as a League Champion...why would anyone want to play as a victim of magic who only got to 'power up' for 10 minutes onscreen before he died?
Viktor dosent even look like he is from Zaun anymore
And what makes it worse is that they clearly know how to make the Arcane hair work in League because the Arcane Savior skin *has that hairstyle.*
Either put Arcane Viktor into League or *don't.* Commit to the bit. Don't try to merge the designs when theyre both doing something completely different. Pre-VGU Viktor is supposed to look like a cyborg terminator with mad scientist hair, Arcane Viktor is supposed to look like a metal mesiah. Those are incompatible concepts.
You are not crazy. If you buy something and if they change what you buy, it is like you have been trick or stoled

Plus the model looks like an akward inbetween of old and new viktor.
old viktor 100% better, also the new legendary is just the opposite of my expectation of 5 plus years waiting and dreaming for a cool legendary skin for viktor that could have been like dragon master or final boss.... and we got... spirit blossom hwei viktor legendary skin... gg riot
I prefer the original cyborg-like bulky Viktor.
Over the new "sage twink"
Screw rework viktor.
