8:00 I can see a point that he looks like that because the shimmer from his blood seemed to have come from void looking flowers. So maybe it was void corruption that did that. Also, maybe he took on traits from Warwick and vice versa. Which is why Warwick looks more human.

you finally made me realize what made season 2 viktor so much weaker than season 1 viktor in my eyes. In season 1 we see that everytime Viktor has a problem he tackles it head on to try and solve it, he's the one going in and both doing further research as well as modifying the machinery jayce created in order to invent hextech, when he's given a terminal diagnosis he refuses to give in, he invents augments for himself using what he knows and pushes beyond his limits on purpose. This is what made him feel like a predecessor to the machine herald we knew from the game, he was constantly the one pushing to change his circumstance. In season 2 jayce uses the hexcore on viktor and it feels like its just a set up for viktor to finally accept the glorious evolution that we all know is coming, but then sky starts leading viktor places, and then singed is giving viktor a device to upgrade himself using warwick's blood, a creation from singed. And then we reach the end of the series and you realize it's been over 10 episodes, more than an entire season, since we last saw viktor make a machine or device or invention himself. He doesn't do research, or engineering, or innovation in season 2, the hexcore just guides him places and then singed is the one to actually upgrade viktor. He has no agency despite being the main villain, and he's lost everything machine about him.

Honestly something i would've preferred was if they added this skin to the arcane skin they released for him. Like with fractured Jinx, where she has 3 skins in one and switches between them. Instead of reworking his base Design they could've done the same. Maybe even add s1 viktor as a basic human with the hexclaw we saw in episode 4 and then the 2 other skins with savior viktor and the finale viktor.

I won't lie, I dropped lol at it's start, in 2010-2012 and arcane dragged me back more interested than ever. I liked Viktor in show and hated his ending. But when I saw his original design I was so excited to play him, it's amazing. Then I saw that they changed the design for the champion completely... I don't even know if I want to play anymore, it's horrible now. RIP steampunk genius, no glorious evolution anymore.

He's not robotic/mechanical anymore, just magical. You are so right. They lost the theme of the character. It's just sad. He is not himself anymore. They could have just made the arcane skin or even a new champion, idk. This is just so bad.

I've never played the game, but I strongly agree with your points. I feel like they leaned too heavily into the magic side and neglected the technology.They could have so easily had Viktor upgrade his body with technology or at least construct hi tech armor for the final battle, making him a full on arcane cyborg/technorganic. Side note I don't see why Arcane should replace the original canon. It's all League of Legends. There doesn't have to be 1 singular canon universe. There's plenty of different canon continueties in DC and Marvel.

Not going to lie. I feel really bad for Viktor mains. Out of every character that had their jank story fleshed out and magnified through arcane he kind of got screwed over. At least as far as translating it to League of Legends.

I have never played league (I've been warned) and really liked the magic aspect he had in Arcane but hearing about his League backstory, I would've loved a general grievous style evolution for him even more

i can understand some of these points, especially the rushed ending of the last few episodes, but viktors story is infinitely better in arcane than league lore. the person they really butchered was warwick/vander. the vander side of him completely dying and getting turned into a metal sims 4 werewolf was so stupid, i couldnt stop fuming watching it

I never played LoL but I can agree Viktor’s old skin looks better than the new, and as a person that enjoyed Arcane I can agree that the old Viktor lore sounded way more interesting lore they could’ve expanded on in Arcane and since learning it I’m a bit disappointed they didn’t take this route either because old Viktor sounds really cool.

Imagine they changed WW to it's arcane version permanently as well. For the same reason they didn't, they shouldn't have changed Viktor.

I'll be the opposite voice here and say I love the viktor reworked visuals and lore. Is it sad and foolish that they deleted the original character? Yes. Should they revert him? Hell no man. New viktor is sick, even though he should've been another champ. I don't think a simple skin would have cooked as hard as the rework did.

I like the body horror aspect of the new one but I would prefer if his leauge model looked like it does in tft so you can see the dead skin and bones so he would look less like a twink

They should make it an option for players to choose whether they want to play a champion's old design or rework. I love fiddlesticks's new design, but I also kinda miss his silly scarecrow look. (Same goes for Viktor)

I dont play lol but im pretty sure in the lore hextech was a much bigger thing than just vi gloves and jace hammer. I feel like in season 2 they really undermined hextechs prevalence from the existing lore and Victors lore changes are quite literally the embodiment of that. I hate lore changes for the sake of lore changes especially when you could have still told a good if not better story with the original content. I think they should have actually just cut out the entire alternate universe time travel stuff and corrupted core stuff and stuck with the piltover vs zaun story they where originally telling and didnt finish and lean more into hextech, I wanted to see more cool gadgets and shit and we didnt get a single new thing. O h yeah, and Victors god form or what ever you call it low key looks stupid and goofy.

The Viktor ASU has the opposite problem to the Caitlyn ASU from S1. Viktor's ASU deleted a Character from the Lore. Caitlyn's ASU got deleted by S2 and making it canon. So why did they even do it in the first place -.- I mean yeah she needed it but all that effort now has gone into the trash since it's also not canon anymore.

I feel like this change was meant to be more poetic(?) In a way. We know that Victor ultimately gives up his humanity after all the hexcore stuff. And him making technology is more connected to him as a human than him evolving with the hexcore.

I'll admit, I dont have much room to speak on the topic. I was always intrigued by League of Legends lore but never got into it until I watched all of Arcane recently. I was curious on the controversy and this kind of sums up what Ive been hearing. Whats even more disappointing is that Arcane is canon. Usually Id want it the other way around but because it's canon, it makes things all the more confusing. If they wanna say oh its a different time line since time is now involved sure but idk. I would've loved a separate experience to the lore and then gradually find my self to the canon one.

I don't hate the new viktor, I think the old viktor would have been cooler but the new one is also good, I will say though the thing about his in-game appearance not commiting to any side is so true. When I saw the design and the reaction to it, it seemed that the vgu wasn't close enough to his original design to please the league of legends players and it wasn't close enough to his arcane design to please the arcane fans, what was the goal here?

They dropped the ball towards the end of season 2 with Viktor. I think they wanted a big evil bad guy to end the show and Viktor drew the short straw. All the design changes seem to be for the sole purpose of using him to make Hextech the bad guy. I also think the in game model looks really strange due to the weird double cape. It has the same sort of physics as Aurelion Sol's tail and its brighter and thicker than any of Viktor's limbs so it ends up being really distracting.

One issue with the old Viktor is that he looks like a man in armor with an arm strapped on, nothing special, not evolved.

Only thing i miss about old viktor is how the new one took the idea of "glorius evolution" and just made it magic, sure to one degree that is very cool but new viktor isnt upgrades through science, its just magic, viktor is not a machine he is a mage, and couldnt they just have made viktor into a "half mage" that the hex core makes im into a mage by certain degree but then he uses its power to upgrade himself with metalls and enginering into the true glorius evolution, Viktors goal is to get rid of problems, how does he intend to do it, through forging everyone into one mind, and i dont know about you but i think him making neurolinks instead of using magic seems more "machine" and "hivemind" like then just abracadabra, then also his design is abit weird, he looks like slenderman with psoriasis and an identity crisis, if he just was abit shorter and less slender then it would have been perfect Conclusion: Viktor is no longer the machine harold, he is the semi mage semi machine semi ozempic harold if you want a good design of a machine/magic person then Draedon from terraria calamity mod is the perfect example

I just don't understand why they couldn't give is a Traditional Viktor skin or do what they did with Thresh where he has a new canonical appearance now and has a skin to show it. This genuinely sucks as Viktor was one of the few Mid Laners I played and I played him because I liked the design. Now I just feel disdain for it.

I think the whole lore change would've been handled better if they didn't rush it into being the canon, like give that canon possession first after like 3 shows or something for people to actually feel and like the lore changes (also like, why couldn't they just release an updated old viktor as a skin alongside the new one ?) Also, the mask is more like a mutation due to the arcane than him consciously adding it to himself (as far as I can tell)

Completely destroyed Viktors core identity and appeal. Aside from the third arm and name he's unrecognisable, could be a completely different champion.

As someone who has enjoyed Arcane and only knows people who play LoL. I believe if they want to satisfy most people, they should commit to the sorce or the new cannon; but as someone who's enjoyed Star Wars, I just want my originals back.

I agree on all of the ingame changes its really suck. But lore changed even in season 1, viktor cant just remain the same selfbuilt herald with big armor. In old lore hextech is a MINERAL that mined in shurima left by scarner scorpion race, with no will in it. But in arcane hextech is a WAY to control magical energy through technology. And magic seemed to have his own mind. Technology aspect of Viktor dont need to be grotesc-like, he is mage now with seemed weak but indestructable body and glorius evolution by magic not technology.
