RIOT stated that Arcane is canon only a year ago, which means it wasn't planned for it to be canon originally, but after it got so popular ofc they would capitalize off it and now turn it into a requirment if you want to know the lore
What truly peeves me is the fact that Riot clearly wants to have their cake and eat it too; where they want to make it just like Arcane, but not to the point where they aren't fully committed to changing eveything. If they are going to be changing the designs and lore of the characters within the show, then the least they should do is change the lore of the characters that aren't included; so as to keep some semblance of continuity.
The will most of them in the next decade, as that is how Riot rolls ... They had their big lore reset back in 2014, and there are still champions with no lore, or lore that is from the previous state - and that was 10 years ago.
Yeah, but they'll never update their stories on the webpage. Camavor as a new region/continent has been present in League since Viego's release, and we got 2 new champions directly tied to it as well, that being Nilah and Smolder. Still, there is no new region on the webpage, and there won't be anytime soon. The best we have is in a book you have to buy as far as I'm aware. So overall, I think its very clear what they should be doing, shame they don't see it the same way at Riot :/
The thing is. All the champions that died should be removed from the game if you wsnt to keep the cannon. Or retcon it so they did not die. Because if you watch arcane you watch the past of runeterra. And if you play the game you play the present.
I think they should make a small tie-in novel or comic that explains the events that happen after Arcane, what happened to Jayce and Viktor, how Heimer gets back, how Warwick transforms into a monster and how the rest of piltover adopts hextech, but most importantly why Singed is still working with Noxus, he already revived Orianna but he still has to nuke Ionia and he wouldn't really have a reason to do that unless they threatened to kill her again or something.
With Singed I can sort of see his epilogue scene with Orianna as being some time in the future since it would take a bit to create her. So I can see how it would make sense for him to make a deal with Noxus in the meantime to get resources for that. However, that is not at all explained in the show of that’s the case so I can’t really give them credit for that. It is just a possible explaination that would make sense.
I would love that….Imagine Viktor and Jayce with their Physical Bodies destroyed, there can be some cosmic possibility for them to travel across Multiverse possessing the bodies of their one from other Universes and going through some random and unpredictable Adventures. That way they can explain the lore better and their relationship and plus they can use this opportunity to introduce new Skins for both of them.
If Riot did not stupidly drop their free short stories that would have been a great way to do this. Unfortunately Riot decided to stop publishing those as people dot read ....
It’s more convoluted than that, the ending implies Swain to be the big bad. But that could mean the invasion of Ionia already happened. The only way I can see this fitting in is if the Invasion is still happening during the events of season 2 and he only recently made the pact with the demon after losing his arm and then we get to see the rise of the new order in Noxus under the 3 generals.

The problem is that arcane season 1 was not canon, and for me is clear that season 2 was not supposed to be canon as well. But it seems that the big players at riot forced it to be really really hard
The main problem is Viktor, if they didn't changed him to look like the Arcane Viktor, we wouldn't care for what the show would make or the consequences of it, because we would be sure it's only an alternate universe BS and we would be fine with it, wasn't going to ruin 15 years of lore, but oh well. At this point I don't trust riot taking good care of its own damn game lore anymore 🤷🏻
Unfortunately Riot decide either late last year that Arcane is fully cannon ... and will be merging the main story line, arcane and legends of runeterra into one cannon ... they acknowledged there are contradictions but they kinda hand waved it in the announcement Skarner already got hit by that when they changed his story because it did not fit with the origin of Hextech in Arcane And its not like Riot is not prone to screw its own lore either ... remember the Sentinels of Light / Ruination?

It could have been canon if S2 Act 3 didn't happen. Really, that was the tipping point. Everything in S1 fits as the backstory. Most things in S2 act 1 and 2 also fit. Then Act 3 rolls along and just takes a huge dump on the plot. I don't know what happened, but they need to fix it. Viktor should have built his body, Warwick should have evolved and transformed, or at least started to before cutting off, Ambessa scenes should have been different. Ekko should have at least mentioned his parents and family to give at least a hint that yeah, they're still important to him. And for all that, they needed another season. I'm sure Riot rushed them to conclude it.
I think they would have been totally fine even with just 4 acts instead of 3… But yeah 100%, the whole idea of having a big avengers fight at the end is *fine* but they did not at all spend the time they needed to build that up. One of my biggest problems is how the Piltover / Zaun conflict just resolves off screen… xd Like bruh wtf, that was the most important thing in the entire show

Arcane was suposed to be a separate universe like the MCU vs the Comics Universe But Riot decided that no they will merge the Main Universe, the Arcane Universe and the semi universe from Legends of Runeterra into one cannon ... which bring in a lot of these issues mentioned in the video and more than that see Skarner and Seraphine as an example

I like playing League of Legends and the characters are fun. however... I never trust the lore. They change the lore for the game and their characters so often that its really hard to keep up. The inconsistencies that comes along with Arcane and future league shows will at least be inconsistencies brought up by amazing shows. Then League can stay as it originally was intended. a fun Moba with a story you don't need to care about while playing.
You don't need to care about the story of any game while playing. Stories are an additional thing for additional enjoyment. The issue is that the inconsistent points didn't need to be inconsistent at all
To be fair. The story has brought a lot of people into the games. It's the reason why people like the other IPs that league makes. If there was no story, there is little reason to care about the IP outside of the moba elements.

Its just that league is not a game that tries to show story through its gameplay at all. none of the actions you do changes the story and the story stays frozen in this static hell loop of a tournament that never ends and only make people bitter, salty and smelly day after day. year after year.
It has definitely altered a hell of a lot of stuff, my only hope is they find way to tidy everything up. And i need to have hope, otherwise depression will hit hard.
I think many of the problems are pretty easy to fix but since they are sort of moving away from Piltover now with the new shows I am not sure they will ever even be brought up again :/
Making Arcane canon is a huge mistake, multiple champs even before arcane didn'nt have lore cause riot doesn't see spending resources to add them to the lore as a good investment(Shaco doesn't have anything connecting him to the world), and now they'll have to rework a huge portion of league's lore to fit a show that was never meant to be lore when they first started doing it. -Singed for example helped in the Ionia war because he wanted more funds to his research, but if the research and his motivation were implied to be helping his daughter it wouldn't make sense for him to help anymore, cause he already achieved his goal. -Magic is also really common in Valoran, Noxus and Ionia are full of magic users, Demacia has an anti magic campaign, how was the first connection of Piltover and Zaun with magic through Hextech? you're telling me that even tho Piltover has all these connections with other regions (that they are shown to have DURING THE SHOW) they didn't once hear about magic? they didn't see any value on trying to use it for commerce? -And what about all the other Zaun champions!? Arcane's ending implies that the undercity will have more of a say in the decisions that are made on the council, is everything going to fall shambles out of screen? Where is going to be opportunity for Zeri to show up, Zac, Janna, is Zaun just going to fall off again and have space for the criminal organizations to show up? Ambessa being added to the game should really have been a huge red flag, I like her a lot in arcane but that was warning us of what was to come
Warwick is my main and I really hate what they did to him. Also imo the first season was good because it felt like it was taking the preexisting lore and polishing it. The second season just feels like they quit caring about the source material and did not plan at all for Arcane to be the new lore. Also Christian Linke saying old Viktor was stereotypical and inferior gives me very little hope for how the new shows handle other champions. Although ngl I think it'd be funny if they killed off the popular cashcow champs like Ahri, Yasuo, or Lux. Or better yet, decide their identity is inferior and completely change them like they did with Viktor so more people get to experience how Viktor mains felt lmao
i just wanted to say that as an arcane-only & a league hater, i found your Viktor video really eye-opening. i love Viktor from arcane, but honestly i believe his design and character arc is very superior in the original game. Arcane improved a lot with some designs, and many of the characters are beautifully written, but that doesnt mean the past is worth sacrificing, and I hope Riot reconsiders their direction moving forward concerning how they want to implement Arcane into League of Legends.
I believe in the interview with the co-creator they said or at least hinted that Warwick survived and we'll see him battle with his wolf and man still. But I agree we should've seen something to confirm that in the show. His healing factor is insane so it could be just assumed he survived because of that.
I have thought this for a while now. Warwick should have had his wolf face design (ofcourse with tweaks that would fit the style of the animation) like the one in game. Either when part of his blood gets transfused to Viktor (it spikes some sort of reaction and transforms him to his true beast form) or either when his face got blown off by Isha and then it would regenerate.
I've been wondering this exact same thing too ever since i saw the finale. HOW exactly are they gonna turn this into the new cannon? Jayce, Vik, Heimmer, Ambessa, WW and Jinx are either dead or gone. The story of Vi, Cait, Singed and Orianna is heavily changed. And we got no mention of several other champions like Camiller, Sera, Zac, Twitch, Ezreal, Blitz, Renata, Zeri or Urgot, so we don't even know if they exist in the universe anymore, and the implication the show makes about magic and hextech as a concept of the world affects several other characters in Runeterra which would render them either changed as well or de-canonize them too
S1 ended as if S2 would be about a true conflict between the two cities with Jinx as a villain lost to Insanity. It would have been way better to focus the story on that with Victor's arc gradually developing in the background. It baffled me that the war between Zaun and Piltover and Jinx's descent at the end of S1 was swept under the rug.
It's ok bro. We got generic marvel plot (+dialoges/jokes) instead and people loved it, so most likely next series are going to be even less interesting and consequent.

I just love how we were so completely denied any kind of glimpse, or even just a friggin hint of Blitzcrank, or even Urgot maybe, in the show?! I mean I was actually excited for that hope! I had thought they had even alluded to it, and I straight up got super hyped when Viktor said in season1 to Jayce, "Yes! Crank it." And I was like, "Yes!" And right there I was so on board for it! It was like it felt so very much like a hint to come of Blitz! Or at least I thought it had been. 😞 But it turns out...NEVERMIND! "F" BLITZCRANK! Wow. How very sad. And such a missed opportunity. And we all lost out on a possibly incredible cool moment or scene that would have been in the show too. Sigh... All because they thought it was not important enough to show us or just too silly, and a waste of time. What a total shame. 😞
Even in season 1 there were changes, Ekko's parents were nowhere to be seen, and in the now old lore, they were a very important part of him. I love the whole thing with Benzo that Arcane did, but they've been shitting on the lore from the very beginning. Of course, in the interview Necrit did, they talk about how hard it can be to create a story in a world that already has 14 years worth of stuff. Hope the MMO fixes things when it comes out in 20XX.
The creators said Arcane wasn't intended to be a shared canon with LoL originally. I think the Riot execs just dumped that on them after the success of season 1. Now it has to be beholden to whatever the game team makes and whatever the game team makes has to be beholden to Arcane, even tho these are two very different mediums that have very different needs and are produced in two very different ways.
They could show a lot more if they 1: handled more champions actually, and commited to a vast cast of PnZ characters 2: planned more than just 2 seasons While we got successful story arcs for, like, 5 characters, the rest got shafted and it is sad to be Heimer/WW fans, because this was not it. I like the game lore I like the show I do not like them together I still don't understand why they had to merge everything together Multiverse fatigue is one thing, but that's from multiverses being overused and used poorly as a plot point, not different versions of the same IP existing independently. In the old game lore I remember it was mentioned that Ekko tapped into it by accident when he made the Z-drive and that Zilean was involved with it, but it was otherwise irrelevant. In the show there being a multiverse isn't a major plotpoint itself, it just serves as a vector to help Ekko & Jayce progress in their narratives.
Arcane fans are gonna be shell shocked when we get to Noxus lore and the whole Shurima fiasco, they'll probably think "Ain't no way this is the same universe"
They did this much worse during the Sentinels Of Light event which had one plot line with three canon endings. And that waste of closing stories of old champions in favor of introducing new ones was a dick move too.
When i finished arcane i really thought this was an alternate universe where things changed a bit, that was awesome. After realising that arcane is the main canon universe i juust didnt know how it could fit in it, since everyone, while still being them, where so different from their LoL counterparts. Totally agree, Arcane should be a multiverse alternative story of Piltover, but Viktor's visual update says it otherwise, while many other thing simply doesn't fit the game.
I was pretty dissapointed with season 2 , after watching season 1 myself i was literally shaking entire year trying to convince my family to watch it , but after watching season 2 especially act 3 i feel nothing and i am already forgeting half the stuff that happened in episodes 8 and 9 , there were too many bad decisions and too little time , i didnt have that big of a problem with warwick being more human but i was really hoping for at least more time of him being actual beast murderer , when he shows up in episode 4 and proceeds to one shot everyone i was really happy but when fighting jinx for some reason , instead of killing her instantly like he did with everyone else on his way expect ambessa , but he was able to run her over anyway , he slowly crawls towards her just so his father instinct turns on and in next episode all it takes is vi yelling his name and he instantly turns good ? What about singed saying that vander was lost inside the mind of the beast and how he was no longer there . Entire viktor plot really feels like riot came up with femboy viktor design and ordered fortiche to write his story around it since i cant find another reason to complitely delete old viktor lore and create new one where he has nothing to do with machines and is all about magic . A lot of people loved episode 7 but after watching it i had the same opinion you did , was it worth it to sacrifice 1/3 of the time they had left to conclude so many plotlines about viktor , jayce , mel , ambessa , singed , vi , jinx , ekko , heimer just to develop a happy world that is never ever mentioned again and had no impact on the story other than showing how how ekko and jinx could have been happy as a couple , even after so many character were straight up deleted from some episode s , despite being so important in season 1 sevika in season 2 is straight up abandoned , has some screentime in episode 2 but has like 1 scene in episode 3 , then in act 2 she appears in like 2 scenes and her new arm in never used again , and in act 3 she appears on screen 3 times for like 10 seconds with no voice at all , singed doesnt appear at all in act 1 espext these 3 scene s where he s building warwick , and after being build up so much in act 2 he has like 1 scene in act 3 where he stabs warwick and it does something to him and the other one with orianna , jayce appearing in episode 5 only to have 1 important scene in episode 6 and not appear again until episode 8 , ekko and heimer not appearing in act 2 only to kill? heimer in episode 7 and not show ekko in episode 8 , zaun vs piltover plot being abandoned only to develop viktor taking over the world plot , mel betraying her mother to the black rose only to unbetray her but she still dies ?? what was the point of betraying and unbetraying then . I already realised that arcane as a whole would have been perfect if it had 3 seasons , lets say season 2 for resolving zaun vs piltover problems and season 3 about war with noxus , and i just wanted to add that final fight was really bad in my opinion , despite jayce saying that if they dont fight they all die and lose their home people like sevika dont show up on the front line ?? and we get shown middle of the fight , that lasts for like 3 minutes , 3 characters from police squad still do nothing , especially loris and blue guy , loris just dies instantly , and fish guy still doesnt say a word , they lose but everything gets saved when jinx shows up and like are you telling me that proffesional noxus army , that was able to take over zaun with like caitlyn said "almost no casualties " and now beating piltover with no casualties at all , suddenly forgot how to fight when 1 girl with a gun , 5 kids on flying skateboards and a bunch of people with nothing but their fists and 1 molotov showed up ? but even this then its over in another 1 minute fight when viktors puppets show up and touch everyone into submission
the only L is warwick i honestly think they can fix that by literally having WW be reduced to goo or close to and have him regenerate from that and its just the wolf from there to get the tank back legit just have singed find him and try to fix him
But it could also feel inconsistent with singed character now, because in the end he got what he wanted, his daughter, unless the writers pull out something smart, for example, singed starts working in abominations and messed up stuff because he needs to give orianna the life she used to have when he was working for the piltover university, so he goes and does singed stuff, sells his goods to chembarons or even noxus, gets the money and maintains a semi double life as a caring father and a deranged mad scientist

They could do that, however the character is already butchered. His origin story now sucks no matter what they do after. We probably won't see any development for him, since it would take away so much screen time just to focus on him and make him interesting again (if that's even possible). What we can hope for his character is a comic at best. At this rate, the cinematic universe won't even get going before people start losing interest. Huge L for League lore fans
Viktor and WW both. Viktor for not being a tinkerer and not making his body better through robotics. Warwick for "we can't show emotions with a wolf face you guys" lazy excuse to turn him into a Viktor minion instead of having him transform or at least begin to fully transform after Act 2 because it's literally just Act 3 that doesn't fit him and everything else did.
I think Warwicks face made sense to me because if he looks like a wolf how can jinx even recognize him being his father. I just imagine it to be him changing more to a wolf like eventually with help of singed who always experiments on him. But everything else in this video makes sense to me and I agree hundred percent.
Im just afraid of them changing the characters into simpler versions of themselves, just like how Viktor went from a character with a lot of shades into just 2 faced corrupted mage. so im concerned about the other characters, Sylas especially
Honestly you can remove Heimer from the show and basically nothing changes. The dynamic with him and jayce was fun but Heimer the "champion" just isn't in the show.
Even though rito stated arcane was their main goal, the Skarner rework may have sealed leagues fate as without being a crystal scorpion tied to hextech theirs no real way for rito to save it (beside turning skarner into a spirit god like ornn)
to me it felt like riot was somehow unaware of anything going on in the second season of arcane since it was a long time ago now that it was made canon. what sells my point further is what happened to ambessa and warwick(vander). since they are effectively dead until said otherwise.
Tbh i think the obstacle they have is making arcane canon to league cuz they want a base for the mmo, they could have fixed everything by keeping arcane lore and building on it for the mmo (which they didnt state explicitly but given how they are doing things i have my bets on that almost 100%) and kept short stories for champions in the rift. I wouldnt want to be in their shoes cuz the stories interlaced from the beginning were always a bit convoluted and would have been hard to adapt for an mmo and such while going into a direction basing everything on full series with a continuum is much easier to do and can take out dumb inconsistencies. I wouldnt want to be in their shoes right now cuz what they have to do is hard af imo

The lore already has tons of inconsistencies and as far as I know around the time Riot announced Arcane as canon they also said moving forward everything they release in the future will be canon, that means everything in the past is retconable. Personally im not really worried about what Arcane broke, but more worried about how long it will all take to make everything make sense. The shows will slowly reveal the world to us, plus any other "smaller" projects they release, like other games, comics, novels, etc, but the biggest lore dump and what will tie everything together will be the MMORPG when that finally releases in 2050. As for Warwick his appearance in the show it is meant to be just a stylistic choice and we can just consider him a wolf. Camille is supposed to come later, Blitz and Ziggs need serious retcons tho.

I think Warwick will reach his final form. He was the only evolved puppet to wake back up and due to his absurd healing ability, the bomb that went off in his face probably stripped away his evolved skin, allowing his organic skin to grow back.
For 2 seasons I've waited Jayce to become the superhero he was in LoL story. At his peak, he was still barely able to use the hammer. He never became a superhero. Even at the very end where he is absolutely humiliated by Voidtor, He doesnt win that fight and save the day. Ekko deals the damage to snap him out of it and paralel universe Viktor speaks to his corrupt self through the memories of Jayce. Even the rune at the end is given by AU Viktor. Viktor beats Voidtor. Jayce is, aside from inventing Vi's gloves and Hextech, is pretty much useless whenever we see him on screen. In politics he was a pawn, In science he was blind and as a hero he was *faar too weak, faar too slow.* The only time he actually did something heroic with that hammer during S2 is when he dismantled it. Because it sure as hell didnt stop Viktor *and he knew it wouldnt.*
If you have been paying attention to LoL's story over the years (I don't count watching Necrit's videos, if you know you know), but especially after the release of Legends of Runeterra, the decline of quality was extremely obvious. The lore of League first and foremost serves a marketing purpose, that being making the players more attached to their favourite character. I wasn't this pessimistic about the lore when I started reading it, but I was sure they wouldn't keep the elements which made it great over the long run. Of course, I ended up being right. LoL's world was always a more grounded fantasy in contrast to World of Warcraft for example, and while there are many extremely popular fantasy books that have even less magical elements in them (Lord of the Rings, Song of Ice and Fire), the average consumer likes the flashy stuff. Both Legends of Runeterra and Arcane indulge in this, as magic in both of these versions differs greatly from the original direction. In the world described on the webpage, magic is very rare, and powerful magic is even more so. Using magic, even for someone who can wield it, doesn't come naturally. Lux literally has no idea how to use her abilities, same with Ahri. This is no longer important, we can just have a look at LoR and Arcane, or even new champs like Zeri, Milio and Aurora. Targon, even though it is a mystical place, is mostly a barren mountain range. But not in LoR. They made it a wondrous region full of crystals and starry creatures all over the place. Its just so full of kitch, more like a twisted version of the original. And I still didn't mention the problems regarding the many retcons and the currently 3 entirely different, but still canon sources for the game. The League Universe webpage, Legends of Runeterra and now Arcane, are all equally canon by Riot's statements. They will never fix this issue, not even in the MMO. Even if they try, its likely going to be underwhelming, I see no reason to think otherwise :D
Season 2 could have used a few more seasons to tie everything, not just together, but in general. If they made S2 of the same quality as the first one, it would have been like 3-4 seasons.
The ww things is that he is inmortal in some way and gonna evolve after being near the death (singed says this), but for the rest of the deaths have 0 sense. Other bad thing is why singed gonna help in the first noxus invation to jonia if he already has everything in her daughter being alive, other thing about this is why swain raven exist, he got the new arm and the demon powers after irelia cut his arm in first invation, so it doesnt make sense why the raven is already a thing.
I agree that arcane is just another cannon like the skins multiverse. Arcane universe. Runeterra universe (main one that includes novels, character biography and legends of runeterra alongside riot forge) Riot record (all music groups) Star guardian. Project. Those are the main universes that are the most focused compare to any others.
Be me, main enchanters that have old lore that is straight up not canon anymore or just left there to rot (ahem nami need to find diana and the story never progressed, janna doesn't even have a canon look)
They should just keep Arcane and the game's lore separate ngl, I prefer the show's take on most things and I don't want them to retcon things in the Arcane universe in the future
Arcane is to LOL what the Silver Eyes trilogy is to FNAF. They are undoubtedly not canon to each other; they are parallel universe to each other. BUT there are , in the grand schene of things, very similar and because of that, some lore haps in LOL can be filled with Arcane and viecervse despite some big changes
Haven't seen the video yet, but looking at some of the comments, pretty sure we're going to be okay in the long run. Viktor's rewrite is a hit or miss for some, I personally loved it. As for warwick and the thumbnail being the "new canon", I believe after Jinx blows the grenade in his face, Viktor's armor melts away, but Warwick regenerates. After all, that's what the main theme of "the beast" is; regeneration. Down to the final scene, when Vander's memories are FADING, it shows that there is room for regeneration. Which does keep some continuity regarding him recalling Jinx and Vi in-game. I'm confident they can pull it off, it just so happens that for now, the lore is in a questionable state. Whatever they do with the lore, the worst they'll do (after Arcane, if they keep it up) is replace something cool with something just as, if not cooler. I apologize if this is off-topic, as again, haven't seen the video yet, but I just wanted to drop this here quick before leaving. I'll update my comment after I have an opening to watch the video.
a lot of champions are gimmicks with cobbled together lore. they might not be able to unspaghetti the code, but give them the time they need to do it to the lore. its only just begun

Did Riot specifically say that the arcane timeline is the same as the primary LoL timeline? Because lore can exist in another timeline whilst still being canon.
yeas there is a post from oct 12 2023 where they specifically mention they are merging the main universe, the Arcane, and the Legends of Runettera semi-universe into one, and everything that comes out under them from then will be part of one cannon (thing that pertain to Runeterra and such, so not skin AUs of course) Its why they completely changed Skarners story with his rework as it no longer fit with the origin of Hextech and why now Victor was changes even in game to reflect his now cannon state
As someone whose only knowledge of League is through Arcane and “that one friend,” I can understand why there are major concerns with the lore and playable characters, especially since LoL lore has always been a jumbled-up mess from what I’ve heard, and Riot is hoping they can make a quick buck trying to milk tourists instead of give their longtime customers what they deserve. By butchering well-established characters and historic revisionism of there backstories.
Making Arcane outright canon, opposed to making it's own continuity, was amongst the stupidest calls they've made this year. Man, a LOT of how they're handling Arcane this year is fucking weird, actually. In any case, they need to either fully commit to making Arcane outright canon, and commit hard, or just give up on the idea completely and treat it as it's own thing, which I think is the better call personally. Riot cannot just do neither and make it work, they just can't. They can't have their cake and eat it too. I worry for the other shows being cooked up if they decide to commit to making these shows fully canon as well, because god knows what'll happen at that point. It won't have the charm that Arcane initially had, most likely.
season 2 was just a mess. the first red flag was mel surviving the rocket. i hate that the show seems like it wanted to distance itself from its origins. it does not want to include champions, it makes the champions it has worse, either designwise like warwick and viktor or characterwise like jinx and caitlyn. nothing stopped them from including urgot, ziggs or blitzcrank. they just had their own "vision" that they didnt want to compromise on for some silly gamelore.
While I did enjoy season 2 and consider it like a 9/10 it is definitely a mess, no doubt. It also should have included more champions and also should have used better designs and sometimes storylines for characters. However… While it may not be what we wanted, from an objective standpoint I must disagree on them making Jinx worse as a character. While I would have preferred an Anti-Villian approach where she only gets a form of redemption at the end by sacrificing herself (whether she actually dies still being vague), I do think other than in episode 9 and to a lesser extent 8, Jinx (for what they wanted her to be) was handled properly.

Isha is even worse, since she didnt do anything, she was designed for the sacrifice scene and nothing else. With the sacrifice scene making no sense at all, that just makes it even worse. Wish they wouldve gone the the partnership between Jinx and Ziggs and showing that Jinx might not be as crazy as we thought, showing how Ziggs would not care about innocents. Its just a premise, but im sure theyre writers couldve done great things with that.

Problem is, the show seemed to be very focused on the game in different ways. Just look at how many "skins" the characters got this time around, they were milking the shit out of the show this time around, without improving on the first season, best example would be the fight scenes plus the emotional storytelling. They rushed Jinxs redemption, they rushed Caitlyn becoming a dictator and redeeming her, they forgot Vi has any agency of her own and had a never give up mentality, and have her give up on everything because of a breakup, they rushed Vanders reveal as Warwick and didnt do enough to show how their live couldve gone when got fixed right before that got nullified, just throw his character to the gutter with the ugliest design in the show and they threw in literal red shirt characters that didnt do shit just to die at the end, with only one of them actually getting some scene as she was Caitlyns Eva Braun. Oh and the main plot of the third act had to take a really dumb pause to catch us up on the multiverse, awesome, because thats going super well and nobody is tired of that bullshit at all. Thats not just Arcane but part of LoL in general, but bringing that shit into a show that was really nice and tangible is pretty sad, same with Viktors crazy powers. Viktor wouldnt have had any Problem whatsoever if he had just flown up and let a bunch of his automatons deal with Jayce OR, if he had touched Jayces head, he wouldve won, since Ekko wouldnt have had enough time to disturb him. Also Viktor looked bad. There is a lot thats wrong with this season when you think just a little bit about it. It was still enjoyable enough, like a 7/10 Which is a bad followup for a 10/10 season 1

So I keep hearing that Arcane IS INDEED CANON, and now LoL IS NOT canon. Like, wtf? How is the source material NOT CANON but the show is? Edit: also, Riot came out n said absolutely every piece of official media put out IS CANON. That means everything you've ever seen from Riot about LoL is canon. I am so fuckin confused, n I don't even play that stupid game.
The game is the game, the origin of the legends are from the arcane, but that's it. They won't remove characters just because they die or change into a much more overpowered being just because they are like that in the game. The term "game adaptation" has a broad meaning, if the lore is "jinx blablabla and now she's like that" in the game, Arcane can go further "...and she died a hero".
The game itself was removed from being cannon back in 2014 with Riots hard lore reset. But the story build up around the character after the reset will be changed because of this, so Victors origins bio and such in time will be put in tine with Arcane ... it will probably take years if not decades with Riots pace ... unless they decide to do some other type of reset in the mean time
I think that the inconsistencies are indeed because of the multiverse theory, changing Viktor's base makes sense because that Viktor is a bit like a statement of fact within that multiverse. There are universes, many universes, where he becomes exactly what he does

Yes, it's fucked. Because stories aren't 1 to 1 translatable across media properly. Now they have to think about the whole Runeterra world, and I already don't trust them to do it with respect. They already erased character lore because they didn't like a ROBOT ENGINEER. Imagine now the evil characters, the grotesque demons? Now everything is tied to Arcane and the Jesus complex, it's dumb as hell. It should have stayed an animation universe.

Yes there are tons of lore in League of legends :) Every playable champion has their own official lore page on the games website and the creators have released many comic books, cinematics and in-game elements that adds to the story of the World. Sadly, the developers are also well known for changing the lore very often compared to other games so it’s not always easy to know how exactily parts of it fits together. Edit: There is a really great youtuber called ’Necrit’ who is like the #1 guy on the platform that talks about League of legends and arcane lore.
Really hope they won't do this warwick design choices in other chanpions to the future.. are they gonna put human faces in monster champions .. they could give vander vibes or emotion even with his wolf head... No S1 had lore breaking for characters .... its just for characters not in the show As the changes to Hextech break Skarner and Seraphine primarily ... there are more such aspects if you start digging, but that was the most obvious one. They changed Skarner recently as well because of this, from being related to Hextech in Shurima to -> being in Ixtal un related to Hextech That said welcome to Riots slow lore This is nothing new for Riot .... as Lore has always been secondary to them despite what they may say. You must have heard about the big lore reset they did in 2014 ... well there are still champions that were not updated for the new state of the Lore .... over 10 years later. And that was when Riot was releasing new lore in the form of short stories pretty frequently, now that they dropped that ... we may wait years before some of the changes from arcane are reflected in the lore and game .... if ever, including Caitlyn loosing her eye. Riot are great with coming up with interesting characters and stories ... but are pretty bad at maintaining a cannon This can be seen in the lore mess that the whole Sentinels of Light Ruination event turned out to be

Season 1 was ok for the characters only because it was like a fill in the gap origin story, but even Ekko went through a lot of significant changes. No parent storyline, the short story involved poofed completely. His close friend he failed to save is gone...and that's it i guess, based on how little of screentime he got in both seasons, he literally got no lines in the final battle??? Heimer might be worse, since he was treated like an npc. I hoped he would get a meaningful storyline in season 2, he got short end of a stick

But around 12 Oc 2023 Riot announced that Arcane is fully cannon. The main story line around the game, the Arcane story line and the card game semi story line will be merged into one cannon. Which creates certain issue, they specifically mentioned the origin of Hextech which is now as seen in Arcane, this means Skarner had to be reworked, and Seraphine as well. In additions to things like Ekkos parents missing, Victor not building Blitzcrank etc
The reason S1 is not as controversial in regards to lore is, that at the time it was basically Riots version of the MCU, based on the main story but separate ... so any changes made in the show did not necessarily affect the main universe, unless Riot decided to pick them up. But the moment they made if fully cannon the changes became an issue for the main story line, affecting existing lore of the champions by default. Which is why there is much more complains about it. Imagine if Arcane Victor was just a Skin like Arcane Jinx, and the update was a bit more streamlined version of the existing Victor, since his story did not change, because of Arcane
well lets be fair Warwick before change was talking werewolf with was goofy AF and doesn't even make sense that he talk, and Viktor with his swag walk looks silly, i understand that its hard for players who know lore to accept it but Riot make cinematics/comics/short stories for 15 years without a single vision, reading lore and watch characters on screen is 2 different things because compered to lore gameplay has way more limitations so to make it consistent they need champions in league and shows to be recognizable, personally i would prefer Mel not being a mage because its just another hot women in league Ip which we have in abundance but i am fine if they develop her, sure they would need to explain wtf summoners rift even is in 50 years because Ambessa dead by the time Cait become sheriff, but my point is that lore overall has to make sense (not small details that can be changed). Riot started in Arcane s1 make stuff consistent, at least give them a chance to make it good, it won't be fast correcting 15 years of mess. I truly believe a lot of complains is just nostalgia for old models/animations, lore that in your head sounds way better than when you put it on screen when only way you experience it is from interpretations of stories riot made with huge gaps in between and time gaps because they didn't plan ahead.

That was the old original lore, when the game started, in this version the game itself was actually cannon ... this changed in 2014 when Riot did a hard Lore reset creating a full world which is the one most people know, and now all the champions in their release form are from this world, and the game is not cannon. But for Riot the story was always secondary so even now 10 years later there are chapms with not or still old un-updated lore They announced a soft reset around 12 oct 2023 that the Main Lol styoryline they build up, arcane and Legends of Runterra will be merging into one Cannon, which has implication but not sure how they will implement it.
I feel like prior to Arcane, LoL lore was all over the place. And it still is. But if they want to give me a show like arcane to flesh out the lore I am all for it. Arcane is great. No one should be complaining.
Lore for games like LoL won't ever matter. You're not playing it to have Jinx saving vander, you're not playing for having a better ending for Jayce and Victor, you're playing it so your ELO gets higher and you hate yourself more. Inconsistent lore matters as much as a raindrop on a lake

RIOT stated that Arcane is canon only a year ago, which means it wasn't planned for it to be canon originally, but after it got so popular ofc they would capitalize off it and now turn it into a requirment if you want to know the lore
What truly peeves me is the fact that Riot clearly wants to have their cake and eat it too; where they want to make it just like Arcane, but not to the point where they aren't fully committed to changing eveything. If they are going to be changing the designs and lore of the characters within the show, then the least they should do is change the lore of the characters that aren't included; so as to keep some semblance of continuity.
The will most of them in the next decade, as that is how Riot rolls ... They had their big lore reset back in 2014, and there are still champions with no lore, or lore that is from the previous state - and that was 10 years ago.
Yeah, but they'll never update their stories on the webpage. Camavor as a new region/continent has been present in League since Viego's release, and we got 2 new champions directly tied to it as well, that being Nilah and Smolder. Still, there is no new region on the webpage, and there won't be anytime soon. The best we have is in a book you have to buy as far as I'm aware.
So overall, I think its very clear what they should be doing, shame they don't see it the same way at Riot :/
The thing is. All the champions that died should be removed from the game if you wsnt to keep the cannon. Or retcon it so they did not die. Because if you watch arcane you watch the past of runeterra. And if you play the game you play the present.

I think they should make a small tie-in novel or comic that explains the events that happen after Arcane, what happened to Jayce and Viktor, how Heimer gets back, how Warwick transforms into a monster and how the rest of piltover adopts hextech, but most importantly why Singed is still working with Noxus, he already revived Orianna but he still has to nuke Ionia and he wouldn't really have a reason to do that unless they threatened to kill her again or something.
With Singed I can sort of see his epilogue scene with Orianna as being some time in the future since it would take a bit to create her. So I can see how it would make sense for him to make a deal with Noxus in the meantime to get resources for that.
However, that is not at all explained in the show of that’s the case so I can’t really give them credit for that. It is just a possible explaination that would make sense.
I would love that….Imagine Viktor and Jayce with their Physical Bodies destroyed, there can be some cosmic possibility for them to travel across Multiverse possessing the bodies of their one from other Universes and going through some random and unpredictable Adventures. That way they can explain the lore better and their relationship and plus they can use this opportunity to introduce new Skins for both of them.
If Riot did not stupidly drop their free short stories that would have been a great way to do this. Unfortunately Riot decided to stop publishing those as people dot read ....
It’s more convoluted than that, the ending implies Swain to be the big bad. But that could mean the invasion of Ionia already happened. The only way I can see this fitting in is if the Invasion is still happening during the events of season 2 and he only recently made the pact with the demon after losing his arm and then we get to see the rise of the new order in Noxus under the 3 generals.
Not necessarily, the black rose collects demons like they are pokemon so even if it's not canon, they can state that the black rose has raum under their command snd they are using him to collect information in pnz after the war, then you can still have the ionian war and raum making a deal with swain@@zack_0psgaming150
Arcane Victor should be a skin. Maybe rework the abilities, but keep the character as it is.

The main problem is Viktor, if they didn't changed him to look like the Arcane Viktor, we wouldn't care for what the show would make or the consequences of it, because we would be sure it's only an alternate universe BS and we would be fine with it, wasn't going to ruin 15 years of lore, but oh well. It could have been canon if S2 Act 3 didn't happen. Really, that was the tipping point. Everything in S1 fits as the backstory. Most things in S2 act 1 and 2 also fit. Then Act 3 rolls along and just takes a huge dump on the plot. I don't know what happened, but they need to fix it. Viktor should have built his body, Warwick should have evolved and transformed, or at least started to before cutting off, Ambessa scenes should have been different. Ekko should have at least mentioned his parents and family to give at least a hint that yeah, they're still important to him. And for all that, they needed another season. I'm sure Riot rushed them to conclude it.
I think they would have been totally fine even with just 4 acts instead of 3…
But yeah 100%, the whole idea of having a big avengers fight at the end is *fine* but they did not at all spend the time they needed to build that up. One of my biggest problems is how the Piltover / Zaun conflict just resolves off screen… xd

I like playing League of Legends and the characters are fun. however... I never trust the lore. They change the lore for the game and their characters so often that its really hard to keep up. The inconsistencies that comes along with Arcane and future league shows will at least be inconsistencies brought up by amazing shows. Then League can stay as it originally was intended. a fun Moba with a story you don't need to care about while playing.

To be fair. The story has brought a lot of people into the games. It's the reason why people like the other IPs that league makes. If there was no story, there is little reason to care about the IP outside of the moba elements.

Arcane is a 8/10 series. All spectical and top tier animation but mild storytelling overall
It has definitely altered a hell of a lot of stuff, my only hope is they find way to tidy everything up. And i need to have hope, otherwise depression will hit hard.
I think many of the problems are pretty easy to fix but since they are sort of moving away from Piltover now with the new shows I am not sure they will ever even be brought up again :/

Making Arcane canon is a huge mistake, multiple champs even before arcane didn'nt have lore cause riot doesn't see spending resources to add them to the lore as a good investment(Shaco doesn't have anything connecting him to the world), and now they'll have to rework a huge portion of league's lore to fit a show that was never meant to be lore when they first started doing it.
-Singed for example helped in the Ionia war because he wanted more funds to his research, but if the research and his motivation were implied to be helping his daughter it wouldn't make sense for him to help anymore, cause he already achieved his goal.
-Magic is also really common in Valoran, Noxus and Ionia are full of magic users, Demacia has an anti magic campaign, how was the first connection of Piltover and Zaun with magic through Hextech? you're telling me that even tho Piltover has all these connections with other regions (that they are shown to have DURING THE SHOW) they didn't once hear about magic? they didn't see any value on trying to use it for commerce?
-And what about all the other Zaun champions!? Arcane's ending implies that the undercity will have more of a say in the decisions that are made on the council, is everything going to fall shambles out of screen? Where is going to be opportunity for Zeri to show up, Zac, Janna, is Zaun just going to fall off again and have space for the criminal organizations to show up?
Ambessa being added to the game should really have been a huge red flag, I like her a lot in arcane but that was warning us of what was to come
Warwick is my main and I really hate what they did to him. Also imo the first season was good because it felt like it was taking the preexisting lore and polishing it. The second season just feels like they quit caring about the source material and did not plan at all for Arcane to be the new lore. i just wanted to say that as an arcane-only & a league hater, i found your Viktor video really eye-opening. i love Viktor from arcane, but honestly i believe his design and character arc is very superior in the original game. Arcane improved a lot with some designs, and many of the characters are beautifully written, but that doesnt mean the past is worth sacrificing, and I hope Riot reconsiders their direction moving forward concerning how they want to implement Arcane into League of Legends.
I believe in the interview with the co-creator they said or at least hinted that Warwick survived and we'll see him battle with his wolf and man still. But I agree we should've seen something to confirm that in the show. His healing factor is insane so it could be just assumed he survived because of that.

Warwick should have had his wolf face design (ofcourse with tweaks that would fit the style of the animation) like the one in game.
Either when part of his blood gets transfused to Viktor (it spikes some sort of reaction and transforms him to his true beast form) or either when his face got blown off by Isha and then it would regenerate.
I've been wondering this exact same thing too ever since i saw the finale. HOW exactly are they gonna turn this into the new cannon? Jayce, Vik, Heimmer, Ambessa, WW and Jinx are either dead or gone. The story of Vi, Cait, Singed and Orianna is heavily changed. And we got no mention of several other champions like Camiller, Sera, Zac, Twitch, Ezreal, Blitz, Renata, Zeri or Urgot, so we don't even know if they exist in the universe anymore, and the implication the show makes about magic and hextech as a concept of the world affects several other characters in Runeterra which would render them either changed as well or de-canonize them too
S1 ended as if S2 would be about a true conflict between the two cities with Jinx as a villain lost to Insanity. It would have been way better to focus the story on that with Victor's arc gradually developing in the background. It baffled me that the war between Zaun and Piltover and Jinx's descent at the end of S1 was swept under the rug.
It's ok bro. We got generic marvel plot (+dialoges/jokes) instead and people loved it, so most likely next series are going to be even less interesting and consequent.

Even in season 1 there were changes, Ekko's parents were nowhere to be seen, and in the now old lore, they were a very important part of him. I love the whole thing with Benzo that Arcane did, but they've been shitting on the lore from the very beginning. Of course, in the interview Necrit did, they talk about how hard it can be to create a story in a world that already has 14 years worth of stuff. Hope the MMO fixes things when it comes out in 20XX.

The creators said Arcane wasn't intended to be a shared canon with LoL originally. I think the Riot execs just dumped that on them after the success of season 1. Now it has to be beholden to whatever the game team makes and whatever the game team makes has to be beholden to Arcane, even tho these are two very different mediums that have very different needs and are produced in two very different ways.
All they have to do is say Arcane is NOT canon. There is only so much you can show in a short netflix series.
They could show a lot more if they
1: handled more champions actually, and commited to a vast cast of PnZ characters
2: planned more than just 2 seasons
While we got successful story arcs for, like, 5 characters, the rest got shafted and it is sad to be Heimer/WW fans, because this was not it.

Multiverse fatigue is one thing, but that's from multiverses being overused and used poorly as a plot point, not different versions of the same IP existing independently. In the old game lore I remember it was mentioned that Ekko tapped into it by accident when he made the Z-drive and that Zilean was involved with it, but it was otherwise irrelevant. In the show there being a multiverse isn't a major plotpoint itself, it just serves as a vector to help Ekko & Jayce progress in their narratives.
Arcane fans are gonna be shell shocked when we get to Noxus lore and the whole Shurima fiasco, they'll probably think "Ain't no way this is the same universe"
Arcane being the start of the new lore makes sense makes it easier for new fans of the series.
They did this much worse during the Sentinels Of Light event which had one plot line with three canon endings. And that waste of closing stories of old champions in favor of introducing new ones was a dick move too.

Totally agree, Arcane should be a multiverse alternative story of Piltover, but Viktor's visual update says it otherwise, while many other thing simply doesn't fit the game.
I was pretty dissapointed with season 2 , after watching season 1 myself i was literally shaking entire year trying to convince my family to watch it , but after watching season 2 especially act 3 i feel nothing and i am already forgeting half the stuff that happened in episodes 8 and 9 , there were too many bad decisions and too little time , i didnt have that big of a problem with warwick being more human but i was really hoping for at least more time of him being actual beast murderer , when he shows up in episode 4 and proceeds to one shot everyone i was really happy but when fighting jinx for some reason , instead of killing her instantly like he did with everyone else on his way expect ambessa , but he was able to run her over anyway , he slowly crawls towards her just so his father instinct turns on and in next episode all it takes is vi yelling his name and he instantly turns good ? What about singed saying that vander was lost inside the mind of the beast and how he was no longer there . Entire viktor plot really feels like riot came up with femboy viktor design and ordered fortiche to write his story around it since i cant find another reason to complitely delete old viktor lore and create new one where he has nothing to do with machines and is all about magic . A lot of people loved episode 7 but after watching it i had the same opinion you did , was it worth it to sacrifice 1/3 of the time they had left to conclude so many plotlines about viktor , jayce , mel , ambessa , singed , vi , jinx , ekko , heimer just to develop a happy world that is never ever mentioned again and had no impact on the story other than showing how how ekko and jinx could have been happy as a couple , even after so many character were straight up deleted from some episode s , despite being so important in season 1 sevika in season 2 is straight up abandoned , has some screentime in episode 2 but has like 1 scene in episode 3 , then in act 2 she appears in like 2 scenes and her new arm in never used again , and in act 3 she appears on screen 3 times for like 10 seconds with no voice at all , singed doesnt appear at all in act 1 espext these 3 scene s where he s building warwick , and after being build up so much in act 2 he has like 1 scene in act 3 where he stabs warwick and it does something to him and the other one with orianna , jayce appearing in episode 5 only to have 1 important scene in episode 6 and not appear again until episode 8 , ekko and heimer not appearing in act 2 only to kill? heimer in episode 7 and not show ekko in episode 8 , zaun vs piltover plot being abandoned only to develop viktor taking over the world plot , mel betraying her mother to the black rose only to unbetray her but she still dies ?? what was the point of betraying and unbetraying then . They could do that, however the character is already butchered. His origin story now sucks no matter what they do after. We probably won't see any development for him, since it would take away so much screen time just to focus on him and make him interesting again (if that's even possible). I think Warwicks face made sense to me because if he looks like a wolf how can jinx even recognize him being his father. I just imagine it to be him changing more to a wolf like eventually with help of singed who always experiments on him. But everything else in this video makes sense to me and I agree hundred percent.
Im just afraid of them changing the characters into simpler versions of themselves, just like how Viktor went from a character with a lot of shades into just 2 faced corrupted mage. so im concerned about the other characters, Sylas especially

to me it felt like riot was somehow unaware of anything going on in the second season of arcane since it was a long time ago now that it was made canon. what sells my point further is what happened to ambessa and warwick(vander). since they are effectively dead until said otherwise.
Tbh i think the obstacle they have is making arcane canon to league cuz they want a base for the mmo, they could have fixed everything by keeping arcane lore and building on it for the mmo (which they didnt state explicitly but given how they are doing things i have my bets on that almost 100%) and kept short stories for champions in the rift. I wouldnt want to be in their shoes cuz the stories interlaced from the beginning were always a bit convoluted and would have been hard to adapt for an mmo and such while going into a direction basing everything on full series with a continuum is much easier to do and can take out dumb inconsistencies. I wouldnt want to be in their shoes right now cuz what they have to do is hard af imo

The lore already has tons of inconsistencies and as far as I know around the time Riot announced Arcane as canon they also said moving forward everything they release in the future will be canon, that means everything in the past is retconable.
Personally im not really worried about what Arcane broke, but more worried about how long it will all take to make everything make sense.
The shows will slowly reveal the world to us, plus any other "smaller" projects they release, like other games, comics, novels, etc, but the biggest lore dump and what will tie everything together will be the MMORPG when that finally releases in 2050.
As for Warwick his appearance in the show it is meant to be just a stylistic choice and we can just consider him a wolf. Camille is supposed to come later, Blitz and Ziggs need serious retcons tho.

He was the only evolved puppet to wake back up and due to his absurd healing ability, the bomb that went off in his face probably stripped away his evolved skin, allowing his organic skin to grow back.
For 2 seasons I've waited Jayce to become the superhero he was in LoL story. At his peak, he was still barely able to use the hammer. He never became a superhero. Even at the very end where he is absolutely humiliated by Voidtor, He doesnt win that fight and save the day. Ekko deals the damage to snap him out of it and paralel universe Viktor speaks to his corrupt self through the memories of Jayce. Even the rune at the end is given by AU Viktor. Viktor beats Voidtor.
Jayce is, aside from inventing Vi's gloves and Hextech, is pretty much useless whenever we see him on screen. In politics he was a pawn, In science he was blind and as a hero he was *faar too weak, faar too slow.* The only time he actually did something heroic with that hammer during S2 is when he dismantled it. Because it sure as hell didnt stop Viktor *and he knew it wouldnt.*
If you have been paying attention to LoL's story over the years (I don't count watching Necrit's videos, if you know you know), but especially after the release of Legends of Runeterra, the decline of quality was extremely obvious. The lore of League first and foremost serves a marketing purpose, that being making the players more attached to their favourite character.
I wasn't this pessimistic about the lore when I started reading it, but I was sure they wouldn't keep the elements which made it great over the long run. Of course, I ended up being right. LoL's world was always a more grounded fantasy in contrast to World of Warcraft for example, and while there are many extremely popular fantasy books that have even less magical elements in them (Lord of the Rings, Song of Ice and Fire), the average consumer likes the flashy stuff.
Both Legends of Runeterra and Arcane indulge in this, as magic in both of these versions differs greatly from the original direction. In the world described on the webpage, magic is very rare, and powerful magic is even more so. Using magic, even for someone who can wield it, doesn't come naturally. Lux literally has no idea how to use her abilities, same with Ahri. This is no longer important, we can just have a look at LoR and Arcane, or even new champs like Zeri, Milio and Aurora.
Targon, even though it is a mystical place, is mostly a barren mountain range. But not in LoR. They made it a wondrous region full of crystals and starry creatures all over the place. Its just so full of kitch, more like a twisted version of the original.
And I still didn't mention the problems regarding the many retcons and the currently 3 entirely different, but still canon sources for the game. The League Universe webpage, Legends of Runeterra and now Arcane, are all equally canon by Riot's statements. They will never fix this issue, not even in the MMO. Even if they try, its likely going to be underwhelming, I see no reason to think otherwise :D
Season 2 could have used a few more seasons to tie everything, not just together, but in general. If they made S2 of the same quality as the first one, it would have been like 3-4 seasons.
The ww things is that he is inmortal in some way and gonna evolve after being near the death (singed says this), but for the rest of the deaths have 0 sense. Other bad thing is why singed gonna help in the first noxus invation to jonia if he already has everything in her daughter being alive, other thing about this is why swain raven exist, he got the new arm and the demon powers after irelia cut his arm in first invation, so it doesnt make sense why the raven is already a thing.
The crow might be working for the demon, not currently for swain. It would make sense that the demon of knowledge had its own surveilence

Arcane is to LOL what the Silver Eyes trilogy is to FNAF. They are undoubtedly not canon to each other; they are parallel universe to each other. BUT there are , in the grand schene of things, very similar and because of that, some lore haps in LOL can be filled with Arcane and viecervse despite some big changes

Haven't seen the video yet, but looking at some of the comments, pretty sure we're going to be okay in the long run. Viktor's rewrite is a hit or miss for some, I personally loved it. As for warwick and the thumbnail being the "new canon", I believe after Jinx blows the grenade in his face, Viktor's armor melts away, but Warwick regenerates. After all, that's what the main theme of "the beast" is; regeneration. Down to the final scene, when Vander's memories are FADING, it shows that there is room for regeneration. Which does keep some continuity regarding him recalling Jinx and Vi in-game. I'm confident they can pull it off, it just so happens that for now, the lore is in a questionable state. Whatever they do with the lore, the worst they'll do (after Arcane, if they keep it up) is replace something cool with something just as, if not cooler.

yeas there is a post from oct 12 2023 where they specifically mention they are merging the main universe, the Arcane, and the Legends of Runettera semi-universe into one, and everything that comes out under them from then will be part of one cannon (thing that pertain to Runeterra and such, so not skin AUs of course)
Its why they completely changed Skarners story with his rework as it no longer fit with the origin of Hextech and why now Victor was changes even in game to reflect his now cannon state
As someone whose only knowledge of League is through Arcane and “that one friend,” I can understand why there are major concerns with the lore and playable characters, especially since LoL lore has always been a jumbled-up mess from what I’ve heard, and Riot is hoping they can make a quick buck trying to milk tourists instead of give their longtime customers what they deserve. By butchering well-established characters and historic revisionism of there backstories.

Making Arcane outright canon, opposed to making it's own continuity, was amongst the stupidest calls they've made this year. Man, a LOT of how they're handling Arcane this year is fucking weird, actually.
In any case, they need to either fully commit to making Arcane outright canon, and commit hard, or just give up on the idea completely and treat it as it's own thing, which I think is the better call personally. Riot cannot just do neither and make it work, they just can't. They can't have their cake and eat it too.
I worry for the other shows being cooked up if they decide to commit to making these shows fully canon as well, because god knows what'll happen at that point. It won't have the charm that Arcane initially had, most likely.

While I did enjoy season 2 and consider it like a 9/10 it is definitely a mess, no doubt. It also should have included more champions and also should have used better designs and sometimes storylines for characters. However… While it may not be what we wanted, from an objective standpoint I must disagree on them making Jinx worse as a character. While I would have preferred an Anti-Villian approach where she only gets a form of redemption at the end by sacrificing herself (whether she actually dies still being vague), I do think other than in episode 9 and to a lesser extent 8, Jinx (for what they wanted her to be) was handled properly.

You are just so hardcoded to the game and the lore, and both of those are painfully one dimensional, which is pretty common in video games. Every character has only a few traits and a singular fixed motivation. I have terrible news: you can't make an enjoyable show with these limitations. If there is no character development among the main plot movers, then you basically degrading the experience to Riot shorts. If this is your thing, fine, enjoy it, but saying the series is effed up because of that is a bit of a stretch...

Problem is, the show seemed to be very focused on the game in different ways. Just look at how many "skins" the characters got this time around, they were milking the shit out of the show this time around, without improving on the first season, best example would be the fight scenes plus the emotional storytelling.
They rushed Jinxs redemption, they rushed Caitlyn becoming a dictator and redeeming her, they forgot Vi has any agency of her own and had a never give up mentality, and have her give up on everything because of a breakup, they rushed Vanders reveal as Warwick and didnt do enough to show how their live couldve gone when got fixed right before that got nullified, just throw his character to the gutter with the ugliest design in the show and they threw in literal red shirt characters that didnt do shit just to die at the end, with only one of them actually getting some scene as she was Caitlyns Eva Braun. Oh and the main plot of the third act had to take a really dumb pause to catch us up on the multiverse, awesome, because thats going super well and nobody is tired of that bullshit at all.
Thats not just Arcane but part of LoL in general, but bringing that shit into a show that was really nice and tangible is pretty sad, same with Viktors crazy powers.
Viktor wouldnt have had any Problem whatsoever if he had just flown up and let a bunch of his automatons deal with Jayce OR, if he had touched Jayces head, he wouldve won, since Ekko wouldnt have had enough time to disturb him.

They won't remove characters just because they die or change into a much more overpowered being just because they are like that in the game. The term "game adaptation" has a broad meaning, if the lore is "jinx blablabla and now she's like that" in the game, Arcane can go further "...and she died a hero".
The game itself was removed from being cannon back in 2014 with Riots hard lore reset. But the story build up around the character after the reset will be changed because of this, so Victors origins bio and such in time will be put in tine with Arcane ... it will probably take years if not decades with Riots pace ... unless they decide to do some other type of reset in the mean time

I think that the inconsistencies are indeed because of the multiverse theory, changing Viktor's base makes sense because that Viktor is a bit like a statement of fact within that multiverse. There are universes, many universes, where he becomes exactly what he does

Yes, it's fucked. Because stories aren't 1 to 1 translatable across media properly. Now they have to think about the whole Runeterra world, and I already don't trust them to do it with respect. They already erased character lore because they didn't like a ROBOT ENGINEER. Imagine now the evil characters, the grotesque demons? Now everything is tied to Arcane and the Jesus complex, it's dumb as hell. It should have stayed an animation universe.

Yes there are tons of lore in League of legends :) Every playable champion has their own official lore page on the games website and the creators have released many comic books, cinematics and in-game elements that adds to the story of the World.
Sadly, the developers are also well known for changing the lore very often compared to other games so it’s not always easy to know how exactily parts of it fits together.
Edit: There is a really great youtuber called ’Necrit’ who is like the #1 guy on the platform that talks about League of legends and arcane lore.

No S1 had lore breaking for characters .... its just for characters not in the show
As the changes to Hextech break Skarner and Seraphine primarily ... there are more such aspects if you start digging, but that was the most obvious one.
They changed Skarner recently as well because of this, from being related to Hextech in Shurima to -> being in Ixtal un related to Hextech

This is nothing new for Riot .... as Lore has always been secondary to them despite what they may say.
You must have heard about the big lore reset they did in 2014 ... well there are still champions that were not updated for the new state of the Lore .... over 10 years later.
And that was when Riot was releasing new lore in the form of short stories pretty frequently, now that they dropped that ... we may wait years before some of the changes from arcane are reflected in the lore and game .... if ever, including Caitlyn loosing her eye.
Riot are great with coming up with interesting characters and stories ... but are pretty bad at maintaining a cannon

Season 1 was ok for the characters only because it was like a fill in the gap origin story, but even Ekko went through a lot of significant changes. No parent storyline, the short story involved poofed completely. His close friend he failed to save is gone...and that's it i guess, based on how little of screentime he got in both seasons, he literally got no lines in the final battle???
Heimer might be worse, since he was treated like an npc. I hoped he would get a meaningful storyline in season 2, he got short end of a stick

But around 12 Oc 2023 Riot announced that Arcane is fully cannon. The main story line around the game, the Arcane story line and the card game semi story line will be merged into one cannon.
Which creates certain issue, they specifically mentioned the origin of Hextech which is now as seen in Arcane, this means Skarner had to be reworked, and Seraphine as well.

The reason S1 is not as controversial in regards to lore is, that at the time it was basically Riots version of the MCU, based on the main story but separate ... so any changes made in the show did not necessarily affect the main universe, unless Riot decided to pick them up.
But the moment they made if fully cannon the changes became an issue for the main story line, affecting existing lore of the champions by default. Which is why there is much more complains about it.
Imagine if Arcane Victor was just a Skin like Arcane Jinx, and the update was a bit more streamlined version of the existing Victor, since his story did not change, because of Arcane

well lets be fair Warwick before change was talking werewolf with was goofy AF and doesn't even make sense that he talk, and Viktor with his swag walk looks silly, i understand that its hard for players who know lore to accept it but Riot make cinematics/comics/short stories for 15 years without a single vision, reading lore and watch characters on screen is 2 different things because compered to lore gameplay has way more limitations so to make it consistent they need champions in league and shows to be recognizable, personally i would prefer Mel not being a mage because its just another hot women in league Ip which we have in abundance but i am fine if they develop her, sure they would need to explain wtf summoners rift even is in 50 years because Ambessa dead by the time Cait become sheriff, but my point is that lore overall has to make sense (not small details that can be changed). Riot started in Arcane s1 make stuff consistent, at least give them a chance to make it good, it won't be fast correcting 15 years of mess. I truly believe a lot of complains is just nostalgia for old models/animations, lore that in your head sounds way better than when you put it on screen when only way you experience it is from interpretations of stories riot made with huge gaps in between and time gaps because they didn't plan ahead.

That was the old original lore, when the game started, in this version the game itself was actually cannon ... this changed in 2014 when Riot did a hard Lore reset creating a full world which is the one most people know, and now all the champions in their release form are from this world, and the game is not cannon.
But for Riot the story was always secondary so even now 10 years later there are chapms with not or still old un-updated lore
They announced a soft reset around 12 oct 2023 that the Main Lol styoryline they build up, arcane and Legends of Runterra will be merging into one Cannon, which has implication but not sure how they will implement it.
I feel like prior to Arcane, LoL lore was all over the place. And it still is. But if they want to give me a show like arcane to flesh out the lore I am all for it. Arcane is great. No one should be complaining.
