I was fortunate enough to get one of these. Out of the box, with no adjustments, it was perfect at the patterning board. I then shot 125 birds, missing less than 10. I am NOT that good of a shot ordinarily.
This man is right, there is virtually no perceived recoil- I did put a limbsaver pad on it before I even shot it (wasn't a fan of the Beretta pad).
The gun is very well balanced- I have 30 inch barrels which are my preference. I don't know the physics he is talking about in terms of the laminated stock absorbing the recoil, but it makes sense and again, it shoots like a cream puff.
Another good thing Beretta did- they cut out enough of the stock for the comb and put in washers to raise it, so if you need to lower the comb, you can take out the washers and drop the comb. Most companies cut the stock for the comb, and you can only raise it, not lower it, without having a gunsmith trim more off.
So I couldn't be any happier. I usually can't shoot a gun out of the box without all kinds of adjustments.
It is a true joy to shoot.
Love the look in the sun light of the stock. I bought my 30 days ago and agree with the 50/50 weight . I did spend $40.00 for the BFast weights and added 1.1/4 to the stock , just love the afect of change in handeling
I'd like to see a 688 xtrap
Saw you with it on Sunday at cockets looks even better in the flesh. It has been said if you want to get better get a beretta. On another note my 14 year old lad is looking for his first 12 bore I've noticed you have a ata black ladies gun wondering if it would be suitable I'll bring him down to put it in his shoulder. All the best
Please bring him up
Which would be a better gun to buy, beretta 688 performance or browning ultra xs black laminate, can't decide between the two?
@desmurphy1431 I'm a beretta fan boy so I'm biased. But both are reliable both shoot straight . I prefer lower wider actions. Where browning actions tend to be narrower and higher . I'd go and see Edward at roy Martin gunsmiths get them in the shoulder see which one feels best to you then ask to see all he has in stock as there are slight variations from gun to gun it might fit nice of the peg but if it needs tweaking to fit perfect he's the man to sort it out
Love the laminate stock only thing I don’t like about it is if you get a ding in it their is not a lot that can be done where as wood much easier to repair
I have seen one forend on a gun starting to delaminate!
That's true, but it's slot harder to ding them that walnut. I've got a. 525SL and clay pieces striking the gun does basically nothing
I agree, it should come as standard with the balancing weight's🤦♂
Is it always cloudy and overcast there?

Laminate are limited and sold out. That's why i'm here 😂
So, how do you really feel about the laminated stock ?
If you watch the full video I give my full opinion on the gun, it’s not my cup of tea aesthetically but from a recoil perspective it handles perceived recoil extremely well
If your a good shot doesn’t matter what gun you have as long as it fits you
Thir is a gin review not a fit review
Browning XS Black lam cheaper? Better? ...
The first one I think 🤭
Try ordering a lefty from beretta right now. Impossible
Should have been a blue and black laminate. Be bold
So my question, I shoot a 692 black and love it, where would this be in comparison is this about equal from what everyone’s saying? I’m never changing mine but just intrigued
Same thing wondering... Love my 692 !!
The 692 has HP plus mono-block barrels with longer forcing cones, adjustable trigger (I think).
👍
what is the cheaper alternative to that shotcam not paying £600 for a £4 camera from china and £2 worth or aluminium tube ... PS only £200 of new price for a used gun ?
I’m unaware of anything other options
Laminated wood is heavier than regular wood. I would rather have 5 or 6 of the 688's to one SL2.
Rad
Well overpriced, lets be real here- the 688 is what the 686 sporter should be, beretta and their "high tech" labelling, masters at moving product, its no better spec than guns 1500 pound plus less
