Charles Austin, 1996 Olympic Champion. Jumps the current OR of 2.39 meters to win over the legendary Javier Sotomayor. And this after having half his patellar tendon removed in 1993 and being told his career was over.
Still expecting Barshim to beat Sotomayor's record. Looks like he kinda plays it safe now, after the injury. But still hoping, really

The 2012 gold medalist, Ivan Ukhov of Russia/ROC, is not included in this montage because he was under investigation for doping at the time.
As of November 17, 2021, Ukhov has been stripped of his gold medal by the IOC. Erik Kynard (USA) will now receive the gold medal, while the three bronze medalists from London (Derek Drouin of Canada, Robbie Grabarz of Great Britain, and Mutaz Essa Barshim of Qatar) will receive silver medals.
