It's so frustrating when the police don't listen to the family members & take it serious from the very beginning. I'd rather them search & find out they ran away than to not search and find out they were dead all along. Especially, leaving her things behind. These people are beyond evil & delusional when they one, can even think of something like this, and two, really believe they can get away with it. The fact that there's several cases like this is beyond concerning.
Thank you for covering Savannah’s story. There are soooo many unsolved and untouched cases of missing and murdered Indigenous people, women especially. The MMIW movement has been shedding light on this horrible reality in many Indigenous communities across the country/world. Thank you for using your platform to bring this story to many who may have not known.
I just don’t understand why people hate you all so much it’s so weird. My family is pretty racist but not toward you all and that’s just really weird to but people are sick
Hearing Ashton after the sentencing was gut wrenching, that’s love and to have it ripped away from you is a pain I CANNOT imagine. I hope he’s healing and I hope he can smile again

As a csection mom my blood ran cold as you described her last moments; I’ve been awake and asleep for csections.. being awake & numbed was the most anxiety/panic inducing, I couldn’t imagine. Savanna, rest easy🪽
I too am a C-section mom and I just can't imagine what beautiful savannah went through in her last moments it's sickening just to think of what those monsters did to her SIP SAVANNAH GREYWIND 😢
I've been in the OR for 5 of those and luckily the hospital i was at put a curtain up if they did a spinal block and kept mom awake so she couldn't see what was going on and cause her to panicc and have something go wrong and watching how delicare of a surgery that is i cant believe people actually try to do it with kitchen knives and even more stunned that alot of the babies live i had to pull over and deliver 1 of my boys on the side of the highway about 10-15 miles from the hospital and used a ziptie on the cord my next kid she was born in the ER hallway while i was parking the car and they were getting her ready to roll to the delivery room ill do natural births any day but no way id try cutting 1 out my great uncles book issued to him in WWII of battlefield surgeries doesn't cover that but with enough morphine i can amputate anything from a finger to a limb if need be and i have the book for the pictures and detailed instructions no guarantee theyd live but id try if i had to
@ashbalee8760 me too! Besides the numbing I tried to go without anything to rid the anxiety. I couldn’t do it. They had to immediately give me medication so thinking of the PAIN she went through also made my blood run cold. I can’t and don’t even want to imagine what that poor innocent mother went through probably all the while knowing that monster was taking her baby. May she RIP and Hazley (sp) live an amazing life with her family, keeping her mother Savannas memories alive and vivid. ❤❤❤
I had 2 c-sections awake it's not fun that poor women what trauma. They had to steal a baby probably cause if she went to hospital to have a baby they would take it cause they would be flagged so sad this happens more times then it should it's sad. Reminder pregnant women shouldn't go to strangers houses for anything . Rip😢
I was born and raised in Fargo. Lived there when this happened now moved to Illinois. This situation was absolutely devastating and disgusting. RIP Savanna Greywind.
@@NightWolfXVImost movies and tv shows based on true stories are very loosely based Fargo is a neat town but usually not very exciting so if they make it look like theres always something big or exciting going on then the name of the town and maybe the name of a person or a few people played by the actors and some event involving them is probably all thats true
❤ Thank you so much for covering this..I'm Indigenous Woman, there is a huge issue of Missing & Murdered Indigenous People in North America..social pandemic that never gets enough attention..and when it comes to another dead Indian..it's sad to know that our cases aren't a priority 😢
Highway of tears is a documentary DEDICATED to the missing indigenous people,..finally there's ALOT more coverage than there use to be unfortunately the media has portrayed there lifestyle as typical drunks who knew the risks,...it is sad BUT LATELY not unheard of,..ALOT of indigenous people & supporters are STEPPING UP AND SHINING A SPOTLIGHT ON THE PROBLEMS.☮️❣️🙃
While the police seemed to not take seriously her status as a missing person in this case, I find in general police seem to treat all adult missing persons cases with the same destain. Unfortunately it becomes a life or death situation so they cannot afford to ignore it. As far as the issue of missing indigenous women, part of the problem is that police have a battle for jurisdiction with the local tribal security or the federal agents. And there is a vast amount of tribal land that makes it difficult to search. Most people on the reservation don't even want to talk to cops so they are very unhelpful. I have a good friend who is part of the Flathead Indian nation, and she grew up on the reservation. She said most of the violent offenses against women on the reservation were by the male natives who have serious drug and alcohol issues so the natives are loathe to report their own people to others. My friend was raped as a child on the reservation and she said the only justice she received was that the man who abused her suddenly disappeared. She thinks her father arranged for the guy's "disappearance".
We need way more integration of First Nations justice models which channel holistic healing during the justice process: meaning the victims are made priority. That would have never happened if we had integration of Indigenous justice into colonial systems. 😢
That’s exactly what I thought!! Like, obvs a prosecutor isn’t going to know EVERYTHING, cuz you never know what a witness &/or the defense might say. BUT! You can get really damn close! Prosecutor’s team should’ve spent a good couple hours w/ the family before going into the courthouse. They might have to wait to tell families certain things until like the day of the trial cuz the family, esp in their grief & anger could post/leak/say something that no one is supposed to know & would hinder the state’s case. I totally understand that. But you could inform them each morning of what that day is gonna look like in court. It’d prob be a good run through/refresher for prosecutors too. Bonus.
That precious little girl is absolutely gorgeous!! She looks a lot like her mother!! I pray that her daddy will one day learn to cope with all this stress and pain he's had to endure!! I'm glad to see her thriving even after all she went through. I pray that God will bless her and her family and especially her daddy!! I have a feeling that these two dogs will reap what they've sown and if not in this world most assuredly in the next!!!
Soon as you said she went to the neighbors for a “fitting” I knew something was wrong. What these two monsters did was barbaric and they belong under the jail. I hope they get real justice in prison. Savanah, I’m so sorry this happened to you and your family. You were so loved. Ashton will still have a part of you. R.I.P. Savannah 🙏🏽🩷🌻🌸🌺🌼🪻🥀🌷💐🌹🪸🩷 Sleep Peacefully You and Ashton have a beautiful child and she will grow up hearing wonderful memories of you. Side note: I hope Ashton is doing okay and prayers to him 🙏🏽
This happened just two hours from where I grew up. I actually taught elementary school on the reservation where she grew up, at the same school she attended. I'm from Devils Lake, where she first worked at a nursing home. I still cannot believe this type of thing happened in ND. Nothing like this ever happens there. It's truly a lovely state full of lovely people. This was a heinous case.
This just made me cry. Why do people do crap like this? Sending Savannah’s family love, light, strength, and prayers. I am so glad the family got Haisley Jo back. She is beautiful. Justice was not served. He should have gotten life. Sad excuse for a human, both of them.
This case will always bring tears to my eyes! The selfishness and psychopathic narcissism is beyond belief. I hate how he says Brook “she’s very intelligent”… she’s obviously not intelligent enough not to kill somebody…the planning that went into this is scary too! Could you imagine your neighbor planning to kill you for months?!? Thank you for doing this case justice Annie! ❤
I just read about this on Google. Savannah was still alive after these freaking monsters cut the baby out her womb!! They should have gotten the death penalty!!! 😡😡😡
No intelligent people think things through and don’t kill people she’s extremely stupid and she didn’t get away with it so yes she’s stupid. People are sick
i went to school with savanna, and she was the sweetest girl in our class. i couldn’t believe when the news about this came out. i’m still good friends with her boyfriend ashton, and they keep savanna’s memory alive for their daughter, everyday
This is just horrific! I don't think 20 years for hiding her body cleaning up etc is justice! I'm so glad that beautiful baby girl is doing so well! And poor Ashton I would imagine it's just too hard for him to handle... I can't even imagine the emotional and mental toll it has on him! I pray he gets the help he needs and is able to move forward someday! All my love and prayers to Savannahs beautiful family and little girl!!!
I've seen this case covered several times, but no one does it like Annie!!!! I'll never understand how someone can get themselves to the place mentally where they will kill a woman in order to remove their baby from their body. It's unbelievable.
I agree that 'no one does it like Annie'. I just commented the same...She digs deeper than others and gives a fuller understanding to really connect to these people and understand what happened in a way only she can deliver.
She was alive while she was cut open and her baby pulled out of her and who know how long after that personally I'd rather be killed before getting gutted
As taboo as I still find the true crime fascination to be, she actually does a good job at just providing the story and doesn't try to make light of anything by adding in fluff like stupid jokes or doing her makeup. Not that those creators aren't being respectful towards the people they are talking about, it's just I would rather hear the story, and not it be 99% jokes and their two cents.
Why are there SO many of these type of things going on?? People are scary. So sad! My love goes out to Savannahs family.❤ What a little sweetheart though! That smile! This whole thing breaks my heart.
Thank you for covering this case. I’ve lived in Fargo all of my life and this case affected me and so many here. I helped look for her when she was still missing, as most of us did. We are a big town, but we act small. I watch a lot of true crime and it’s rattling to hear these towns and terms that are so close to home and familiar when normally I can separate myself. It was all over the local news of course but it’s different hearing it on a true crime channel. This was such a devastating case and my heart shattered when we found out that she was murdered. My heart has gone out to Ashton, their sweet beautiful little girl and Savanna’s family ever since the day it happened ❤ we need more coverage on indigenous women
I really enjoy how much effort you put into every single one of your episodes, watching you is like sitting down with a friend discussing true crime. Keep up the amazing work!
I live in Valley City, ND, which is about an hour from Fargo, and this hit everyone so hard. I can't even imagine how hard it is going to be when they have to tell that little girl the story of her birth/mothers death. Also the fact that she will always have to live with her birthday being the same day as the anniversary of her mother being taken from her. So sad!
I agree, but I can only be informed on what is going on in the States as my home country's crime is too close to watch, but they walk amongst us wherever you are on the planet.
I only live 30 miles from fargo & remember this case like it happened yesterday. Police for sure dropped the ball on this one. Thanks for getting cases like this out there Annie!!
Thank You Annie and team. The incompetence of the police was uncomprehensible. This case makes you question humanity. Beware, psycopaths everywhere. They both should have got the DP. To see that little girl brings a tear!!
My cousin was murdered by having her baby cut out of her stomach, she was the first woman to be murdered this way back in the 80's. There are 2 books about her and the murderer. So very sad!!! RIP Savanna!
Gee thanks, I was just feeling so safe and cozy in my own home in the country with my kids away from crowds and close neighbors where we keep to ourselves. Now I’m eyeing the house down the road.
That lady had 7 kids?! This case is dumbfounding, from her faking a pregnancy to him being ignorant and not seeing she's not growing a belly. Ugh these two are beyond words. Just vile.
I’m from Belcourt, ND. Never did I think I would hear my favorite UA-camr talking about something that has affected our whole community. Thank you for doing some a fantastic job with this story. RIP Savanna! #MMIW ❤❤🙌
Thanks so much for covering this tragedy of an indigenous woman. I've somehow NEVER heard of this, but not too surprising because we all know murders on the Rez r usually not taken as seriously :(
Yay, first time I’ve managed to catch you just 5 minutes in! Thank you for all your hard work, bringing us such respectful and well researched content Annie. 💕
i’ve heard this case a few times before but i’ve never heard it told like this and i just cannot imagine the heartbreak that ashton has to live with, i’m incredibly glad he has his daughter. savanna was his first and only love, i cannot imagine. i hope her whole family can find some amount of peace and see her beauty in everything everyday. i wish them the best. thank you for sharing this.
Currently pregnant and stories like that hit so hard bc its literally terrifying that someone would do this to a woman & her baby...and its happened too many times😢
I first heard Savanna's story on a series called "Me Hereafter". What those monsters did to this poor young mother is enraging and devistating. Thank you for covering her case, we need more representation for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.
I am so glad that her little one is alive and with such a loving family. I don’t understand why the police thought that she would go somewhere without telling her family when she told so many people that she was going upstairs. Such a sad story. Thank you Annie for telling us a story even though I am sure it was rough for you.
How did I miss this upload?!?! I've been requesting this case for years! So excited to watch it and see Savanah's case finally be covered with the respect it deserves. I haven't watched it yet, but I know Annie will do a fantastic job in honoring Savanah's life ❤
Just horrible. I remember this like it happened yesterday. I currently live in Fargo, and when this happened, our whole city was absolutely broken. Savanna's legacy will forever live on through her sweet daughter.
@@_rockseeker yes I'm a native American mother who has a crazy white women after me to steal my kids the only difference is she's using the children family services to file false reports on me to kidnap my children and the social workers are felon's.
It does remind you of Taylor Parker but I don’t think anyone can be crazy as Taylor. I hope not anyway. We don’t need people like that running around lol
It was outside the sentencing guidelines is the reason it got overturned 20 years was the max for his involvement the people of ND have to pressure their representatives to get that changed and it won't affect his sentence just the people after the law is changed i do think before hes released he should be required to get a vasectomy with a cheap kitchen knife without drugs and given no pain relief meds while healing so when he gets out and preys on young woman with low self esteem he doesn't become a sperm donar in his late 50s through his 60s or early 70s
“An angel in the book of life, wrote down my baby’s birth, and whispered as she closed the book TOO BEAUTIFUL FOR EARTH” When you said she was also identified from a tattoo on her foot that says “Too Beautiful For Earth” I got chills. I have the same Tattoo.. for anyone who doesn’t know, this is usually a way to remember our babies lost due to miscarriages/stillbirths. I am so sorry for her family! These people are monsters!
I think this is the earliest I’ve ever caught one of your uploads before! Anyways, I will never understand why people do some of the horrific & barbaric things they do, especially when there’s so much at stake. Like, besides the very obvious chance & likelihood that you’ll lose your freedom for most, if not all, the rest of your natural life, you’re also forever changing the course of the victim’s life & everyone else who knows & loves them, as well as everyone who knows & loves you as well. To make such permanent & life-altering decisions & completely destroy lives in a matter of minutes, even seconds sometimes, is just crazy to me. There are just so many other ways to go about things than resorting to such malicious & evil actions.
Also, just want to add that Brooke & William didn’t want to have yet another child of their own because of them already having so many & losing custody of them, especially with William shaking or hurting one of them so bad that it fractured the baby’s skull, so they probably were under an order that automatically takes any other babies they have from that point forward. I’ve heard of other similar cases where the woman has 7, 8, 9 plus children-none of which she has custody of for various reasons, usually due to abuse & neglect-so any children they try having from that point forward are automatically taken into State custody the minute they’re born. So, I’m assuming that’s probably what happened with these two psychos who already had at least 7 between the two of them that they weren’t even allowed to see or have contact with. What an absolute waste of human life all around. May Savannah rest in peace, and may her beautiful daughter bring comfort to her loved ones every time they see a piece of her that gets to live on through her baby girl. 🖤 ETA: Yeah, I just got towards the end of the video, and apparently, the reasons I listed above was exactly why William & Brooke didn’t have another child together-because they knew it was most likely going to be taken as soon as it was born. What an absolute POS these two monsters are!
The fact that after 3 searches and no evidence found boggles my mind so much that this real life tragedy almost sounds like a plot from the Fargo series. Bumbling cops and all
Stories like this make me grateful that I experience cryptic pregnancies. I don't look pregnant. I usually hate it cause I've never really been able to have the whole pregnant belly experience. I have 4 kids. I'm 110lbs and I lose lots of weight in the first 3 month and gain a little back, but if you were standing by me and I'm 9 months pregnant, unless you know me or had been told I was pregnant you wouldn't be able to tell. Rest Easy Savannah. You're daughter is beautiful and we know you would have been the best mother.
I feel so desperately sorry for Savanna’s family. Why don’t the police & lawyers prepare the victims loved-ones for the incredibly traumatic details that they will hear & see during the trial? Why do they leave the family imagining the worst, for (often) YEARS waiting for the trial? Trials do NOT need to be as traumatically shattering as they are for families & loved-ones! We have so many laws & procedures to protect the accused & the guilty. What about the victims & their families?
So sad and senseless 💔 I’ve watched a video or two on this case but, I know I’ll leave here with more information than ever before because Annie takes her time and does thorough research! Thank you Annie for helping shed light on these cases and always being so respectful 🙏🏾.
This was hard....oh my god! For any child to learn how she came into the world and how she lost her mother all in the same instance is beyond me! This totally tear me up, and reminded me of another case similar to this....not sure if that's the case you mentioned, my brain is a shambles.
This case as well as the Taylor Parker case also remind me of the Michelle Wilkins case.. luckily she survived and actually testified in court. Unfortunately her baby did not survive though. It’s a super interesting case, I’d love hear you cover it!
As a father who is blessed to still be with the mother i feel for this poor family, especially the father whos doing this on his own (presumably) i know id be lost without her.
I was literally JUST telling my boyfriend about Annie, how amazing she is and how much she's grown with these videos. He actually watched this one with me. I've been watching Annie's videos since she first started and she has come SOOOO FAR! She is the best there is. Absolutely love her!
I agree with both of you 💯. I saw a sideways ass comment under what she pinned and said something to him but he didn't reply back but you could see what he said
This story is so devastating. What should’ve been one of Savannah’s happiest moments of her life, giving birth to her baby, with the love of her life and enjoying every milestone of her baby’s life she had that stolen from her in the most brutal way. Savannah’s daughter looks exactly like her. Such a senseless horrific act by two monsters. I think they both should’ve received life without the possibility of parole not just Brooke. I believe he knew all along and helped with the attempted cover up. They’re both vile disgusting waste of oxygen. My sincerest condolences go out to Savannah’s family and friends. May she rest in peace. ❤ Thank you Annie for covering this story. I love how you present your content. Also thank you for all your time and energy you put into your content. ❤😊

You are the most detailed, well spoken person. You don’t need distractions. Everything you do is well put together. I never get distracted. I don’t even get frustrated…. I’m usually screaming to other people. (Other UA-camr)“ get on with the story!” Thank you, from ADHD Marleyfromtexas YOU ROCK!
I love that you always give the victims the respect and the voice they deserve in all of your videos. I think what you do is really important and I'm sure it means a lot to the family and friends. ❤
I'm always grateful to see anyone reporting on a Native American's abduction and or homicide. Far too many Natives go missing and the media and the (non rez) police just don't care. We rely on grassroots ways of finding our people like the MMIW (Missing and Murdered Indigenous Woman.) It takes a massively greusome crime for the news to report a Native death to the general public. Thank you for reporting on this.
I love near Canada's highway of tears. The silence surrounding the atrocities done to indigenous peoples is shameful and disgusting. No more stolen sisters!
@ShannonStevens-gl7le It's heartbreaking. Round here, people who work at gas stations in the country will ask questions (where are you going? Are you traveling alone? Do you need help of any kind?) If they believe you're being trafficked. They have reason to because a lot of Natives are. I was asked these questions before (thankfully, I was with my mom and not being trafficked across the border). Hardly anyone knows or cares. All we have is each other and those who have enough empathy and love in their hearts to help. No more stolen sisters ❤️🩹
Thank you for covering stories of missing or murdered Indigenous Women. So many times cases involving Indigenous women are under-investigated. These are our sisters, mothers, and daughters and they deserve to be heard AND investigated with the same diligence as and other missing or endangered.
Oh how my heart hurts for Ashton and that family!😕How did the police search multiple times and miss a newborn baby and a home birth c section in the bathroom!?
This police policy of "shes an adult we cant do anything" needs to change, especially!!!!!!! When the person is severely pregnant, they could have just fallen and gotten hurt, they need to be found
I'm 29 weeks pregnant and this kind of thing freaks me out. Definitely makes me think twice about who I befriend or going places alone. People are scary.
Thank you for sharing this truly sad story. I remember when this happened. I live in Minnesota so I saw it on the news when it first happened. This lady is crazy and her boyfriend is too! I'm so happy that Hazelee survived this tragic event and was given back to her daddy 😔🥺😔😭 Annie thank you for always covering these sad cases, and giving a voice to those who an no longer talk to tell their story!!!!
Cases like this terrified me when i was pregnant. I wouldn't go anywhere alone and stayed in my apartment when i wasn't at work. And even at work i was so distrusting of anyone. How anyone can do these things to others is beyond me.
saaaame. my husband thought i was a bit extra when i refused to go anywhere alone, and then i sent him info on cases like this and he understood. especially if i was picking up things like secondhand toys, clothes, etc. from strangers on the internet. i always made sure to communicate that my husband was coming with me - i actually had 1 woman ghost me after that. terrifies me to think of why that might have been. could have been innocuous, but could have just as easily been nefarious.
A bit of irrational fear. Not many cases of it. But tons of cases of rape, murder and so on. Killed by your nearest and dearest. So many other statistics that should have you more in fear than these ones.
@@angelanolan1585 it's not irrational if it is happening in the world. An irrational fear would be me being afraid of a shark showing up in my bath tub or above ground pool. There were plenty of things that worried me while pregnant, even if this one was far off from happening it still scared me
I had heard about this before and... I watch a lot of true crime, but this really hit me. They have a gofundme. Idk the page exactly. But I did donate there. Doesn't matter how much, but I don't make a lot of money and my boyfriend was like you're crazy to give them as much as I did. I noticed there hadn't been a donation in a while at that time. Nothing can make this young family whole again and it truly just breaks my heart how incredibly cruel and... out of touch people can be to eachother. I know money isn't everything, but I hope something nice was able to be done for this little girl. Or even just help with the bills and make things a little easier in some way for this family. My heart and thoughts are with you. ❤
Horrible case Annie. I know I shouldn't be completely shocked, but it's ridiculous how inept and sorry, clueless, law enforcement agencies are these days! What is going on?!

Rip😢

Why? So dumb I don’t understand why they hate you so much I love you all
While the police seemed to not take seriously her status as a missing person in this case, I find in general police seem to treat all adult missing persons cases with the same destain.
I am STUNNED that no one from any official agency prepared the family for the DETAILS about Savannah’s murder that they were going to hear in court. 💔
We need way more integration of First Nations justice models which channel holistic healing during the justice process: meaning the victims are made priority.
That would have never happened if we had integration of Indigenous justice into colonial systems. 😢
@@Ms.PrairieTHIS!!!!
Bonus.
I'm not...they just don't care
The look on Ashton's face as he looks at the camera while holding his baby just breaks my heart. 😢
That precious little girl is absolutely gorgeous!! She looks a lot like her mother!! I pray that her daddy will one day learn to cope with all this stress and pain he's had to endure!!

I've seen this case covered several times, but no one does it like Annie!!!! I'll never understand how someone can get themselves to the place mentally where they will kill a woman in order to remove their baby from their body. It's unbelievable.
I agree but I don’t agree on the attention seeking comment for Annie,
I agree that 'no one does it like Annie'.
Ew who would want to do that? That’s so gross what man or woman in there right mind does that? Nasty

This case has been a haunting one. I remember hearing about it several years ago. Absolutely disgusting. I think the original sentence was fair.
“An angel in the book of life, wrote down my baby’s birth, and whispered as she closed the book TOO BEAUTIFUL FOR EARTH”
When you said she was also identified from a tattoo on her foot that says “Too Beautiful For Earth” I got chills. Annie E- your superhuman! Thank you for consistently producing content for us and helping us stay safe n informed! ❤
ETA: Yeah, I just got towards the end of the video, and apparently, the reasons I listed above was exactly why William & Brooke didn’t have another child together-because they knew it was most likely going to be taken as soon as it was born. What an absolute POS these two monsters are!
This happened an hour away from me, unbelievably heartbreaking case, prayers for her family❤❤
She looks so much like her mommy. Hugs and prayers to her and all of her family!
Cases like these reinforce why I distance myself from people. May Savannah rest in peace.

The fact that after 3 searches and no evidence found boggles my mind so much that this real life tragedy almost sounds like a plot from the Fargo series. Bumbling cops and all
I think it's amazing they actually searched and didn't just ask a few questions at the door. Who would even think of something like this?
This all happened on the day my son was born.. so crazy to think the best day of my life was also the worst for someone else’s

All we have is each other and those who have enough empathy and love in their hearts to help.

saaaame. my husband thought i was a bit extra when i refused to go anywhere alone, and then i sent him info on cases like this and he understood. especially if i was picking up things like secondhand toys, clothes, etc. from strangers on the internet. i always made sure to communicate that my husband was coming with me - i actually had 1 woman ghost me after that. terrifies me to think of why that might have been. could have been innocuous, but could have just as easily been nefarious.
