I was comparing these cameras and wanted to buy one, ended up buying both but only kept xpro3 because of these 3 issues, hope you find it useful
Excellent review! Thank you!
I have also sold my X100V recently. Getting what I paid for it new helped the decision, but you are absolutely right about the slow, clunky outdated AF motor in the lens and it feeling like a toy compared to the X-Pro3. You get what you pay for and there is a reason why the X-Pro3 cost ~£500 more body only with no lens. The X100V is closer to the X-E4 in terms of build quality.
I have the X-Pro3 in the Dura Black and absolutely love it.
Atm, in Australia, the Xpro 3 black is $2300 and the x100v is basically more around $2700 since out of stock, unless u wait 3 months then it’s $2000 but yea absolutely
Agree. Xpro 3 is superior in every aspect except pocket-ability perhaps. But if you want a pocketable camera get a Ricoh GR.
X-Pro 3, ALL DAY! Love mine and just ordered the new 56mm 1.2 WR lens to go along with my 23mm 1.4 lens.
I’ve played around with the XPro3 and I really like it, BUT I LOOOOOOVE my X100V. I disagree with almost everything I’m this video, not because I don’t respect your opinion, but because it is YOUR opinion but you talk from a position of it being fact. The comments about “it feels like a toy camera or it doesn’t fit nicely in your hand…” you should’ve added “feels like toy camera TO ME” and “doesn’t fit in MY hand”.
To each their own though.
I do have the X100v, I'll get the Xpro3 as well.
Thanks
Thx bro 😊
In America, one can place an order for the Fujifilm X100V with Adorama, pay MSRP, and wait several months for it to arrive.
The X100V is a hobbyist camera for those who want a different experience from using a smartphone to capture images. It's great for taking pictures of family and friends and documenting one's life to share on social media. The leaf shutter and small, buit-in flash enable one to use fill flash when needed without having to attach a bulky flash unit onto the camera's hotshoe. However, the X100V is not well suited for serious architectural, landscape, macro, sports, or wildlife photography.
Yes, I understand that the X100V is popular among some street photographers, but the X100V is limited in that regard because it 1) lacks lens interchangeability, 2) doesn't have IBIS (but neither does the X-Pro 3), 3) has a viewfinder that could be easier to use, as noted in the video, and 4) is still too large compared with the Ricoh GR IIIx for those situations in which being discrete is a high priority.
If I were to choose the APS-C format, I would seriously consider the Fujifilm X-H2 and the f/1.4 R LM WR line of lenses. This combination is the best camera system that Fujifilm has to offer for still photography. If this system is too expensive, then Fujifilm still offers the X-T4, which could be used with Fujifilm's f/2 lenses.
I found the build quality of the X100V better than the XPro3. The top plate of the XPro3 felt like it was not attached to the camera very well. The X100v top is a solid block of aluminum. If you are choosing between these 2 cameras, it should come down to your lens preferences and how you plan on using the lcd.
I sold my x100v only because I prefer the size of XPRO. Waiting for XPRO4 release now, hopefully next year.
I hope Fuji puts ibis in it.
I used the x pro 3 temporarily and didn’t like it. It’s not very friendly with after market lenses because I adapted a Leica lens on it and it wasn’t very receptive. Had a 16mm Fuji lens and the camera didn’t have the framelines. Experience could be better. I just went back to using my Leica.
Thanks for the honest comment. One of the reasons I did not buy the xpro 3 is because you have to use the evf with manual Focus lenses. And I wanted to have a complete analog experience using the ovf. But that wasn't possible.
I would think very few people are choosing between those 2, but maybe I’m wrong. I just don’t see these 2 cameras as serving the same market at all.
They r different for sure but close enough in terms of pricing and also since x100v is hard to find many people r looking at xpro3
I Went with XPro3 and have complete lens freedom.
My grandson,15 yrs old, wants a camera for Christmas. What kind should I buy? He wants to be a videographer.
What’s ur budget ?
He should get an XS10
Nikon Z6II is a solid camera - but whats the pricerange?
cant buy an x-pro3 anywhere. Waiting for the x-pro4
Keen to see if they keep the screen design since i really like it, looks beautiful too
This is the video I have NO IDEA why everyone is obsessed with the 100V. You can simply put one lens on the X-Pro 3 and use it at any focal length you want. I just don't get it.
I thought EVF was the same for XP3 & X100V
OVF is same ( the frame lines are smaller so basically not useable in 100v) but EVF is way smaller and not as good
Thank you for this honest review that has informed my future decisions on Fujifilm acquisitions. : )

The screen is my fav part, cuz it’s hidden and doesn’t get scratched up but it’s their if u need it,
I believe the viewfinders on both of these cameras are the same.
Definitely not
The optical might be the same but even then the frame lines r so small, the frame lines on xpro3 cover more of what u see, the EVF is much smaller and lower res
Don't buy Pizza! Here is why! Burger VS Pizza
Hahahahahah
Agree
Eh….there’s a lot of similarities to compare.
Tried both stuck with the 100v
Preferred ergonomics of x100v
The equivalent lens 23mm 2.0 you would put on xpro 3 is horrible.
Found very little difference with the EVF between the two and so much fun to use and if you aren’t using a standard prime with the xpro 3 it’s almost useless.
That terrible, terrible, terrible screen design, it just makes me angry how frustrating it was to use on the xpro 3.
Found the focusing excellent and don’t follow on the complaints with the x100v. I mean I was catching birds in flight on the beach all summer with it here in Florida.
The leaf shutter experience just gave me so much joy to use.
The nd filter being able to turn it on immediately in bright sunlight in Florida for the x100v, god bless you fuji.
After 20 years it’s been my favorite of all time the x100v. If it had ibis like my m4/3 cameras probably wouldn’t use anything else 90% of the time except when I need a zoom.

@@jdc327 I'm sure Ford put a lot of thought into the Edsel also, lol!
@@WhoIsSerafin I road in an Edsel when it was released. It was an excellent car, actually.
Except that generation thought otherwise
@@jdc327 it’s a point I hated
New photography enthusiasts almost never used old film cameras so the old school range finder idea is useless to them. The XT50 makes much more sense these days.
x-pro 3 is beautiful until the display "cracks" :)
X100V silver aluminum body looks more like a toy to me, the black isn’t that sexy either. Therefore I still hold my Xpro3 for over 1 and a half year. I guess being a photographer be it amateur or professional, you want to be more pro.
Clicky , thumpier shutter sound on the Xpro3 , yeah , great reason not to get the X100v, poor review I am afraid.
It is leaf shutter and size dude. Why don’t people like you even being pro and all don’t get it.
Only camera that beats it is Leica Q2 and 3. Which is $6k and up.
This didn't feel like a "why not to buy x100v" video. Xpro series isn't exactly supposed to rival x100 series. They basically cost almost twice for a kit vs the x100v and they obviously cater for different markets. The xpro 3 could have been great if not for that "toy" of a screen.
I’m Australia it’s cheaper to get an xpro 3 with a lens than a x100v
@@RealBlackBox that's basically because of the skyrocketing prices of the x100v due to supply and demand. MSRP wise if you are able to get one, x100v is much cheaper at $1400 than a body only xpro 3 at $2000 + $450 for a 23mm f2

@@jdc327 how you type actually makes perfect sense why that gimmick of a screen would be perfect for you. 👌😁
"Slow you down like a film camera" is such a poor excuse. You can always turn the screen off on any fuji camera with a viewfinder.
Dude, they're two different cameras for two different markets. There's a reason why it's Calle "pro". Jeez.
Hahahha well same price so yea
