    I think this really depends on the individual. I know Ms. Jackson doesn’t like hearing that but I did the things she’s doing now my entire life and it never seemed to pass a certain length. Now that Ive been pre-pooing and deep condition my hair weekly it has grown and it’s healthier than it’s been since I was a child. I never had dandruff so that was never an issue for me. However breakage was a problem for me since I have thin and fragile hair. Pre-pooing helps with detangling in my experience so I don’t put as much tension on my hair which leads to less breakage. Deep conditioning softens my hair and makes it look shinier and bouncier. But that’s just me. Different hair does require different things. This might be the best thing for her hair but doesn’t mean that it’s what works best for everyone, in my opinion.

      👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 you mentioned some good points, especially for people with hair not as full and lucious as others. This information can cause some people more unneeded harm than intended. My natural hair needs all the moisture it can get, in order to flourish. When people make such videos there should be disclaimers and consideration for people whose natural hair is not in perfect shape. People come on these pages for ways to improve their hair and instead, they get misleading information like this. Unless you have full and naturally gorgeous and fast growing natural hair, consider skipping videos like these and moisturize( oil, butter, deep condition etc) your hair for optimal growth and health. 😉

      @@reslastsong8292 I honestly don’t think it’s hate at all, but more of a genuine concern for people who don’t know any better. They might try this and end up damaging their hair. I’m pretty sure people follow natural hair pages to improve their hair health and not damage it.

    Hey Jenn! I really like your channel! I am shocked to see that "No oils/no butter" is a thing now. Here is my story....I was experiencing EXTREME scalp itching and pain for about 3 years and following many UA-camrs who suggested oils (I did not use any butters), I piled on the oils and made a bad situation even worse.
    My dermatologist prescribed a shampoo to help elevate the intense itching and horrible scalp pain. The Rx shampoo gave me only mild relief even though I used it for over two years.
    As time went on, I started focusing on physical therapy for chronic back pain and forgot all about using oils on my hair. It was only about a month ago that it occurred to me that the scalp pain and itching was GONE! I immediately realized that it was because I had stopped using all of those oils. So, by default, I learned that oils ( especially when I was doing a concoction of several "natural oils"), was what was causing me problems. Thanks for sharing your insights on natural hair care.🧡🙂

    I'm loving my no raw oils and butters journey with you(3 months in)! My dry flaky scalp is gone, my thin spots (thyroid meds)are filling in, my "low porosity hair" is now normal! It's easier to gage when it's time for a protein treatment! I can see coils in my "4c" texture. Products be producting, water be watering, shampoo actually has slip instead of feeling stripping. I've been using Pantene's repair line of shampoo and conditioner and I use Lotta body foam to style. . . No leave ins, no nothing! I totally agree about protective styles. Isn't the goal to enjoy and wear your beautiful, natural hair? Some people claim that they are protecting their hair, but the reality is that their hair is really used as a foundation for wigs, weaves, and braids. Protective hairstyles are literally addictive...you ALWAYS feel the need to have one, you don't feel attractive without added hair, and you may be willing to expend a crazy amount of money and time to maintain this "addiction" just so that you can feel good. I am not judging...I just know how I used to feel. Also...only wearing protective styles often results in never learning how to maintain and style your real hair..."braids are just easier". I never understood the point of protecting hair without the intention of wearing it out and/or wearing your hair out 20% of the time and in protective styles 80% of the time.

In product formulations yes that's how i maximize their benefits.I don't want people thinking O&B are bad the side effects of overuse is the concern here. We need more data to properly access the pros and cons of no O&B for a prolonged period.

I only use it once a week and that’s it, but it could be my main hair problem without me realizing it, maybe even little of it stills create problem. I think everyone is saying the same thing but differently. Water is a moisture and any product of preference (grease, oil, cream, butter style cream etc..) is a sealant of the water/moisture of some sort. Preferences of sealant, how much you use, when you use it etc… will vary. This variation of moisture sealant preference will vary person to person based off their personal ideas of how they want their hair to be.

    I’ve realized that with natural hair you have to know what works for you. For me, moisture is my friend and this includes: washing, deep conditioners, leave ins and moisturizers, which includes butters and oils. I make my own oils and I use it specifically for my scalp and I moisturize with butters. My hair has been flourishing this way. We cannot just blindly follow what somewhat else does. Something may work for someone else, but it may not necessarily work for you. This might be a good practice for someone with a busy schedule but this specific regimen won’t be good for my hair.

    It's not oil that gives you dandruff or flakes. It's according to each individual scalp tolerance to products. My daughter have very long natural hair so do I. She doesn't use oil nor any products on her hair. Yet she has dandruff. I, on the other hand do not have dandruff nor flakes. And I uses oils at least every 3 weeks or so and after wash days. Sometimes I mixes the oil with water and sprayed my hair and scalp. So people go with your sensitivity, not what's best for someone else's scalp.

      @JennJackson  2 роки тому

      I was told to wash more often and really one should listen to their hair and scalp. Once it is dry, wash and condition again. I personally didn’t wash more often because I am busy and don’t have time to wash mid week so I just keep a weekly schedule. As for the products, yes they matter, particularly when it comes to stylers. Botanical gels with humectants are KEY to keeping your hair moisturized for as long as possible.

    Wow so is that why when ppl do a Max Hydration method which includes stripping the hair and cleansing it intensely makes the hair look so good and the curls clump

    • @LifeFilmz
      @LifeFilmz 2 роки тому

      max hydration is damaging to the hair, you're putting baking soda on your hair and soaking it in water way too often. daily washing plus the damaging effects baking soda has on the cuticle can lead to mushy gummy hair known as hygral fatigue and a lot of people that have tried that method had complained of their hair getting hygral fatigue. "no oils and butters" is not the same as "max hydration method" at all because all you are doing with the "no oils no butters" is using a shampoo, a conditioner and a styler once every week. thats it, really simple. curls clumping is based on technique not product or stripping hair, you can learn styling techniques from iamblackgirlcurls online course "see some curls" which is what jenn used.

      @@LifeFilmz No what Im specifically referring to Is the steps In the Max hydration method that include stripping and cleansing the hair. The routine of the Max hydration method that I watched (Does not include the Cherry lola treatment aka Baking soda) they used a clarifying shampoo, clay mask and then conditioner.. which now made me wonder If the reason the hair actually looked good, not weighed down, and more defined was because we stripped all of those heavy oils and butters out. I did the Max Hydration method with the steps above once, and my curls clumped back up(more defined, after washing no product) & I noticed the difference she described. @@LimitedReachEnt ahh okay then yes I agree because it allowed more water into the hair but where they went wrong was saying it had to be done daily which would’ve been too much water, especially because people weren’t using a hooded dryer after styling so hair was just staying wet 24/7 365 and the clay wash was an unnecessary step as well. They probably could’ve just shampooed their hair twice and saved money and time on the clay step.
