    I got the 3" model. Everything about it is fantastic. No end-shake. Correct timing. Excellent finish. Good trigger double and single action. Accurate. Balance is perfect. For the price, there is nothing better in that class.

    I think that's the coolest gun that has come out in a decade. Affordable, real blue with nice checkered wood grips...yeah...that is something we lost and needed back in a bad way. I'm getting one or two of those. I occasionally carry revolvers and know tons of people that do, both young and old...they make sense for a lot of people in a lot of parts of the country. And we like them. They're beautiful and reliable. And they are excellent for reloaders.

    I was a police officer for 36 years and in 1988 I was promoted to detective which was about a year and a half before we switched to autos, so for that time period I was issued a 3" blued chief special. It was a cool little gun but I think I would have been happier with the model 15 I carried in uniform because I shot better with the 15 and it was a 6 shooter. I was happy when the autos were issued. I enjoyed your video. 👍

    Heritage needs to come out with a top break, nine-shot, .22 revolver. If they do that with some of their other new offerings, they would have a huge market share.

      I just handled an H&R 999 break-open 22 cal. revolver and one on the local gun shop yesterday. It was in good shape with no rust and the shop owner had a price tag of $599.00. I lusted over it for a minute or two but eventually the price tag was too large to take it home.

      Heritage, at least used to not, use strong enough steel. Their rough riders are made of VERY soft metal, and top breaks are a inherently weak design(and super cool), so soft metal and weak design spell disaster.

    • @MW-bi1pi

      These are made by Taurus in Brazil and just sold by Heritage. Taurus has improved drastically in the quality of steel they use now. They are not bad at all. I am serious when I say the BEST trigger of all my polymer pistols is my Taurus TX22. Sounds silly, but it is true.

    I bought a 2” Roscoe two weeks ago, and it’s been in my pocket since then. I do generally carry a revolver, mostly a S&W 686+ with a 2.5” barrel. The Roscoe is a joy to carry in comparison, and also a joy to shoot. I installed Pachmayr Renegade wood stocks, and they work great with speed loaders. I carry speed strips 99.99% of the time. Nice shooting, and great video. 👍

    That revolver is a remake of a pistol from my favorite era in firearms and American history. I always wondered why the police carried revolvers while the gangsters had 1911s and Tommy guns like the Military. That’s partially what lead to the .357 magnum cartridge and the .38 super. In my opinion, I think that society thought of the 1911 as “too much gun”.

    • @donwyoming1936
      @donwyoming1936 7 місяців тому +9

      A lot of police departments adopted the M1911 at the time, and Tommy Guns, just to find out the 45 ACP couldn't penetrate car bodies very well. There comes the need for the 357 Mag.

    • @markteaney8381
      @markteaney8381 7 місяців тому

      @donwyoming1936 another problem was penatration on the 357. City was worried about law suits from a mother being shot when the cops 357 bullet passed through the crook and hit mommy.

    • @sinisterthoughts2896
      @sinisterthoughts2896 6 місяців тому +1

      Earl8er autos weren't always as reliable, as well as ammunition being dodger. Revolvers are simple, will chew through any ammo, and at the time were much cheaper.

      .357 Smith&Wesson Magnum brought out by Smith&Wesson to compete with the Colt .38 Super and it's round-nosed, armor piercing 130gnFMJ @ 1300+fps . That's where the money was!

    Just picked up a pre-model 80 taurus 5 screw frame made off of old S&W machines and its fantastic. The 70s certainly was a cooler time. Glad someone is making new old school revolvers. Might pick up the 2" if it's better than a charter arms.

    • @sinisterthoughts2896
      @sinisterthoughts2896 6 місяців тому

      Charters kinda throw me off, their fit and finish is usually atrocious. At least more modern ones. They are not really the same company many came to love in the 70's. If I recall correctly, basically it's just the name got purchased.

      @shizukaryujoukai2465 6 місяців тому

      @@sinisterthoughts2896 I've handled one's from the 60s and 70s and they were fantastic. Sucks that charter is the only ones (besides the Smith 547) that do clipless semi auto carterage chambered revolvers. I'd really like a high quality hand ejector rimless carterage revolver but nobody does it. The Chiappa rhino would be perfect if they didn't need moon clips

I can definitely easily surpass most factory-box ammo ballistics with a little judicious handloading and still be well within the published SAAMI MAP(17,000PSI). I can shoot heavier bullets and higher speeds but who needs to 755fps with an ordinary boring LRN will drop you in the ground as sure as many of the larger bore and higher velocity choices out there. And be easier to control to boot! Everyone shoot seriously consider giving handloading a try they would love it and benefit enormously.

      I bought an old school Smith & Wesson post war Regulation Police .38s&w caliber 4 in. standard pencil barrel blue steel at a pawn shop almost near mint condition and what a shooter it is accurate at 15 yards it's like I can't miss it's 1952 vintage 5 shot I-frame with its deep diamond cut checkering for when guns were made with precise fit and finish !!! I call it my Frankenstein pistol for it has 2 different serial #'s on the main parts so that's a testament to Smith & Wesson not wasting parts back in the day they used parts from 1951 and 1952 but assembled in 1952 !!!

    Think Taurus revolvers have been good for awhile. Got a mod 82 that’s been great and only paid $275

      There may have been some taurus revolvers that weren't up to snuff, but I've never seen one. Great dollar for dollar guns.

      I bought a model 82 almost 40 years ago. Stainless steel. You could see machining marks on places that weren’t on the outside of the gun. It had a smooth as butter DA trigger. Way better than my S&W chief’s special. Maybe $200 at the time. I’ve also got the Taurus version of the Beretta. Sweet and reliable.

      The Roscoe overall width is approximately a tenth of an inch wider that the S&W model 36.
      Overall length, the Roscoe is about 1/4 inch shorter.

    This is a cool-looking gun and it performed well. Next time, I think you should be wearing spats, a fedora, and chomping on a cigar. Love the G-Man shooting position!

    Yeah definitely a bit of a days gone by vibe going on there. That gun has Humphrey Bogart and James Cagney written all over it. Also like when a decent quality firearm at a very affordable price shows up. Really good news for folks on a budget so they can at least protect themselves and their loved ones. Plus, well what can I say Matt. It's got a 3 inch barrel. Once again great video and totally enjoyed it!

    is the heritage roscoe a rework of the out of production taurus 85?

    • @SEO122
      @SEO122 7 місяців тому +1

      Not even a rework. Taurus retired the Model 85 due to the 6-shot Model 856, but evidently the old tooling still has some revenue potential, so here we are...

    You can just sand down the left grip top hump to let it eject and speed load smoothly and of course speedily. I'm going to do it to mine. Only differences I got the snubby. Yes I will carry it, why not it will never have any collector value.

    I got three Heritage Manufacturing 22lr/22mag. 1873 Colt 7/8 scale replica's , Calvary 6.5" , Artillery 4.75" and Birds head 3.5" card table, i fitted them with the catalog upgrades cylinders and grips . The cavalry got the scrolled cylinder with a matching checkered diamond & scrolled grips. The artillery got the Buffalo head cylinder and Buffalo nickel checkered diamond walnut grips. The bird's head being the gentleman's card table gun got the Dead man's hand cards on the cylinder and checker diamond grips in memory of wild Bill Hickok. I got lucky all the guns are in beautiful condition with Beautiful finishes. They're just for fun on John Wayne movie nights . I'd like to get this new Roscoe the finish looks very good i love the Blue/BLk, do you think i could get a little bigger walnut checkered grips that would still look correct for it ? They would have to still look period correct 1930's and fit the frame right. Heritage Manufacturing also came out with a 1850's Stage Coach Double barrel shotgun $ 870. Expensive for what it is but . looks cool .

    I’d personally feel confident running +P through it. I just wouldn’t shoot 50,000 rounds of it.
    Have fun

    You don't have to worry about speed loaders, trigger weight, point of aim or any of that stuff. This guns main function is pistol whipping.

    Underwood ammo and Buffalo bore ammo both have a 38spl hardcast wadcutter that is listed as standard pressure. I like the Roscoe, but the two Armscor/ Rock Island 38spl revolvers the M206 2 inch, and the 4 inch M 200 would be a better buy.

    I had a older Taurus from the maybe late 70’s early 80’s that looked just like this. Copy of an old S&W Rossi made this exact revolver for years and Taurus bought Rossi.
