Medieval people: "This is the personification of evil and the most terrifying thing I can imagine, God help me." 21st century people: "Yeah, pretty middle of the road fursona you've got there mate. You might want to add a few more bumholes though."
i 100% agree! the amount of love and detail he puts into his sculptures while explaining some history is just perfect. definitely already one of my favorite youtubers
I WANTED to give a thumbs up but the number was 420 and that number should stay there despite that you should have 10,000 thumbs up , the 420 just looked so cool there.
this is such a fun sculpt, I love all of the details that seem random to a modern audience but are chock full of symbolism! I think one thing people forget about these weird creatures is that they had to be easily understandable for people who couldn’t read, hence their weird af features 😂
The butt face is also because of Osculum Infame, it was thought that devil worshippers would pay homage to him by kissing his backside when they summoned him. I guess it makes it less graphic if he has a face to kiss on that part instead of… you know.
Even though you've only posted 3 videos, you're already at the top of my "favorite sculptors" list. Your videos are well-constructed, and I love how you explain the historical background and context of the things you create instead of just saying "yeah here's this funky devil guy with boobs" and giving no further elaboration. Keep up the amazing work! An addendum, I also appreciate that you're not dead set on trying to appeal to UA-cam and make your creations SFW in order to get monetized. Not enough artists these days are willing to work so intimately and boldly with the grotesque.
The last year I've been getting into the drawings of medieval monsters and their peculiarities. I've been making my own versions of demons with multiple faces and such. This channel is right up my alley and I can't wait to see what comes next
Appreciate you not deprecating this weird little dude for having boobs. Also what a great job you did on this! Texture, pose and expression really give it a character.
love your narration and the research you did into this piece. i thought the turd was the guy's balls actually and they were referencing how he had the balls to lie so blatantly to jesus' face. but talking out of his ass is also super funny. thank you for the video
I wasn’t expecting some of my favorite content creators this year to lean so heavily into biblical themes but between you, hochelaga, and wendigoon I’ve been proven wrong. In all seriousness your work has inspired me so much in my own clay pursuits. The elation I felt when I saw this video uploaded was truly unmatched by any other content creator, and to see you be able to make even more of these ghastly creations would fill 2024 with so much joy.
What a lovely, generous comment! Thank you. 🙏🏻 The videos are a LOT of work, but when I read comments like this it makes it all worthwhile. Big love. 🫀
Dude, I love your sculptures of lesser known designs and creatures from long ago. It’s really refreshing to see these ancient designs given life when they otherwise would’ve remained forgotten.
Thanks so much! I actually cocked it up first time round and had to drill the eyes out of his head and redo them. Bloody nightmare, but worth it in the end!
His first face has a cartoony dog, Disney or furry style which feels absurd as he is the Devil and the rest of his body is very different, but absurd is very on brand and it works with the idea that he tries to look cute/appealing/endearing.
YESSSS ive been waiting for your next upload! I shared the alchemy dragon with so many buddies I hope this video does even better. Your editing and process footage is top notch. I just want more of these all the time, but I know I've got to wait, these are not simple builds .
Thanks so much! Yeah, they take ages because I'm juggling a day job and a family, but I love making them and have loads more ideas! Thanks again for your kind words, it really means a lot. 🫀
Nothing satysfies me more than watching yours and North of the border videos. I see his influence in your videos and it is just so great to see. Love your unique style, and narration that is both entertaining and educating. Im big fan of H.Bosch and simillair ,and Im so happy you make 2D images come to life. Cant wait to see more :)
Your videos are great because not only do we see magnificent sculpture work, but your work with the image studies from which the sculptures are inspired is very well done. Congratulations, keep it up please.
@@SomethingWkd Yes, as a history student I know how to recognize all your efforts. Image symbolism, especially in this period of history, was very important and rich.
A thing of beauty, wonderful to watch how the magic happens. Another fun beastie from mythology to join your delightful marginalia creatures, I'd buy weird ornaments like these for my shelf, they put a smile on my face. Thank you for another very enjoyable vid.
Terrific video as always (three counts as always, definitely), I really liked the extra attention given to your tools, and the analysis of the creature features.
Absolutely awesome, i love it!!! I hear you on the glue, i superglued myself to the bottle last time. My son was in disbelief and was howling with laughter saying omg mum, I didn't think people did that in real life. I want to go play with my cosclay now. I'm making him a wolf for his 21st but I'm so so slow at it and constantly fiddle for perfection then often have to remake bits as i went too far. Wish i had your level of perfection
Its awesome to see these historical depictions of creatures and religous carvings come to life. The passion in your craft and the joy in your voice narrating it is wonderful! I think i should get more into these depictions. My country has a lot of those i hink. Greetings from germany
This is so brilliantly done, yet totally atrocious looking sculpture. You’ve nailed it. I find peculiar sculptures to be the most interesting, because they often have rather unexpected details. It is very easy to see beauty in something that it conventionally attractive, but weird sculptures let me admire the craftsmanship and also the amount of research needed to bring all this into the light.
this rocks , i love when people make weird art. its good for the soul. super excited to see what you make in the future !! maybe you could try making some of the grotesques from illuminated manuscripts sometime !!
After finding your Alchemy Dragon video, I've been eagerly awaiting your next upload... And I wasn't disappointed! :D The level of craftsmanship is fantastic and with only 3 videos, you're my favourite channel on here! Really looking forward to seeing what 16th centure Bosch-esque nightmare you bring to life next! This is the best christmas gift i'll have gotten this year ;)
What a lovely comment to read! Thank you so much! I won't let you down with the Bosch, I'll be dropping something later on in 2024. Thanks for staying with me. 🫀
obsessed with these videos… it always makes my day when a new one drops!! i’m glad you’re prioritizing the detail of the sculpture over frequent uploads, it really shows your dedication. As a cosplayer, this one would be a crazy cosplay to make… if my skills were a little. better. i’d totally try it!! For now I’ll probably stick to drawing.. thanks for the inspiration!!
Love these vids, not only I got to learn the history & interpretation of these period pieces, but they also makes hella unique sculptures. You really found an untapped well here, good sir.
I just wanted to take the time to echo everyone praising you and your channel. Even after just three uploads you have such a creative mind, great narration, and a pleasing aesthetic in your videos. I look forward to seeing more from you and I hope your channel grows to a greater audience.
One of the disappointments of modern media is the utter lack of demons or the demonic being depicted in the medieval or renaissance style. Grotesque demons with faces on their crotches, knees, elbows, and asses. Hellmouths that are literal giant beast maws filled with fire. I understand _why_ modern artists don't go for it. They think it looks silly. They want their demons to look scary or cool. There's Standards & Practices limiting what they can show. Or how the weirder versions of demons just demand a lot from artists, detail-wise, that not everyone is willing to commit to. The medieval art captures a different mood than the modern kind. There was an intentionality and a comedy about them. You were meant to feel afraid or disgusted, but also see the devil as almost pathetic. A creature that wears its evil on its lack-of-sleeves. As physically emaciated as it is spiritually impoverished. If you have a chance to draw a demon, consider doing so in the medieval style. If nothing else, you'll be remembered better than a million big, red guys with scary faces, big horns, wings, a pointed tail, and hooves. (I wish someone made these kinds of demons as wargaming miniatures. Maybe a hard plastic set, that let you mix torsos and legs, heads and asses.)
Yesssss...the number of re-watchable videos you have grows... Well done! Your attention to detail is awesome. 😊 Love these weird mythological creatures brought to life. Well, 3D at least! 😂

Biblically accurate Foxy
After just 3 videos, you've already secured your niche as compared to every other sculptor on UA-cam. And it's a good one.
