      Don’t feel bad. I had 2 natural unmedicated births, the second being at home. It was excruciating both times bc of minor complications (my cervix needing to be manually moved bc it wasn’t lining up with the birth canal both times). My body is just not cut out for it. I will be getting an epidural next. I used to be so internally judgy about epidurals, but you know what? It’s allowed millions of women to actually enjoy their births who wouldn’t have otherwise. Do what makes you most at ease!

    Let me tell y'all. After feeling those contractions you won't even notice how the epidural feels. I had my little bundle of love December 26, 2018 at 4:07 a.m. (Proud Mama) I had the epidural which took FOREVER for them to find my spine and I had to sit there leaning over in a certain still position while water gushing out of my va jay jay with contractions following right after. That was the worst part, then my epidural did not take, THEN I found out I had to get a C-section because my baby boy wasn't liking the labor. So I had to get ANOTHER Epidural but this one numbed me from the waist down, but again I had to sit in a still position while they took so long to find my spine, the water gushing was gone, but the contractions stayed. But oh my how patient I was because all I was looking forward to was having that medicine, but what helped me was the breathing they tell you to do, plus I meditated on Psalms 23 everytime my contractions came. When I tell y'all the contractions are SOOO strong that you can't even talk! Okay! I was straight silent throughout everything. The only thing I could say was I'm not having no more kids lols. But after I heard my precious baby, then seen his face, after I settled down with my little peanut I said to myself it was worth it and I may have one more and THAT'S IT, I can't see myself having no more than two munchkins. 😊❤️ Whoever is reading this and is scared, don't be, just stay calm and you will say the same, It was worth it! Your gonna be so happy when your baby come and so protective! At least I was AND AM! I'm like mama bear 100!

    I always swore I would never get an epidural and I prepared for unmedicated childbirth. After 12 hours of back labor, being awake almost 24 hours, and only progressing 2 cm, I asked for the epidural. The numbing shot was the only pain I felt and it was just a pinch. The medicine feels cold going in which was strange, but it began working almost immediately. I could still move my legs and could feel general touch, but felt no pain. During delivery, I could feel the tightness of contractions (like braxton hicks) and the pressure of baby's head, but no pain. I've had no back pain from the placement, which was another reason I originally didn't want it. I have zero regrets, the epidural made the rest of my 22 hour labor enjoyable, and let me rest and relax enough to progress faster.

    I just gave birth a few days ago and I want to let you all know not everyone has good experiences with the epidural. They put the needle in the wrong spot at first and it hurted so bad , I was biting down on the pillow and I have an extremely high pain tolerance so when I was brought to tears and shaking I knew something wasn’t right. They finally got it in and the numbing was suppose to only numb my body to a certain point. I was numb all the way to my neck and the epidural caused me to get dizzy, ringing In my ears and have heart palpitations, felt like I couldn’t breath. My blood pressure also kept dropping and everyone was in a panic. My baby was also going into distress because of my blood pressure dropping. They had to turn my epidural machine off so that the numbing would wear off and they could get me to a safe dosage. By the time it was time for me to have my baby they didn’t have a chance to get it to a correct dosage for me To be comfortable. Just really research and decide if the epidural is the best thing for you. Everyone can list their good experiences but some of us end up with horrifying experiences. If I’m blessed To have another child I will not be getting the epidural.

    Then I had the epidural. 1,5 h later, I was at 10cm, cause my body was able to relax from the pain! I'm sure, without this, I couldn't give birth naturally. And the needle doesn't hurt a bit. Really. I promise

    I remember being adamant that I wasn't having an epidural, just because I heard so many mothers tell me to have it natural. I felt so guilty when I choose to have an epidural, it made me feel like a failure. At the end of it all I realised that all that matters was that me and my baby were OK after birth. It didn't matter how I brought my child into the world. I felt silly and annoyed taking advice from women over how I should give birth. If anyone tells you to give birth a certain way, ignore it. Every pregnancy and birth is different. Nobody is going to care how you did it once your child is in the world. Nobody is going to ask your child how they were birthed and then judge them for it. It literally doesn't matter. Do what feels right for you and baby.

    • @kalkapolka
      @kalkapolka 2 роки тому +3

      You shouldn’t feel like a failure. Everyone has a different pain tolerance. With my 1st baby I wanted to do it without epidural, but after my water broke , I begged them for one. And 3 babies after that, I got epidural right away. Just like my doctor said “ if the baby comes out of your vagina, then it’s natural “. There is absolutely nothing wrong with getting some pain relief. Child birth is hard and painful. I had four babies naturally, and yes I had an epidural with all of them. And I’m still so damn proud of myself haha

    • @nothanks1239
      @nothanks1239 2 роки тому +1

      @@kalkapolka I definitely don't feel like a failure now. It was the mindset certain people had pushed upon me. Also, a lot of women will proudly say if they didn't have an epidural, and that makes it appear like an achievement, thus I felt like a failure for having one. Again, I don't view it that was now; but due to lack of experience and not knowing what to expect, it does all appear that way. I'm ultimately glad I ended up having one, as I had been in labour for 3 days and was exhausted towards the end. I needed that relief.
      My only regret with it, was having to stay overnight in the hospital my first night being a mother. That was horrible, as they were understaffed that night.

    I've had two births. My first was medicated with an epidural and my second was unmedicated. Yes, I was in the worst pain of my life but I'm so proud of my strength and dedication to have a natural birth and see it through. My second birth was honestly a better experience than my first, because after my second, beautiful baby girl was born, I was able to get up and move around as I pleased and use the bathroom by myself, without a catheter. When my first, beautiful baby girl was born, I had to wait hours after her arrival for my epidural to wear off before I could even move my legs. They felt extremely numb and heavy. I hated that feeling. Something to remember ladies is as soon as your sweet baby is born, the pain is gone and you feel like yourself again, only happier and with a fuller heart🥰 With that being said, there's absolutely nothing wrong with getting the epidural. It works wonders for us mamas and we have modern medicine at our disposal for a reason. Do what you feel is best for you and your labor and delivery. I'm currently 30 weeks pregnant with my third baby, my first baby boy💙 I plan on having another natural, unmedicated birth, because I feel it's what's best for me, my birthing/postpartum experience, and my baby.

    I had this while NOT having a contraction, which I advise against.
    the anesthesiologist didn’t know I had a mild case of scoliosis. He had to maneuver around and fidget along my spine, the needle ended up snapping in half. The whole entire time I felt nerve pain, and that’s a pain like no other. God bless the nurse that was holding me and letting me squeeze her… because it was so painful getting the epidural for me. And it only ended up working on half of my body, which another anesthesiologist had to come and administer more medication in hopes it would work on my other half. It didn’t end up working on both sides and I could still feel contractions with the worst back labor… if I were to ever have another child I would definitely stay clear of the epidural. For me personally, it doesn’t work with my body, unfortunately. I’m happy for those that were able to get relief from it!
    Now I suffer with sciatic nerve occasionally and lower back issues, even in my middle region of my back. I regret having the epidural…

I was nervous about possible side effects like a spinal headache but the doctor assured me that since I did not react to the test dose that I would not have a spinal headache. The only thing i did not like was when the medication was first administered it caused me a head rush and I felt a weird fullness in my ears. It sent me into a panic attack. The anesthesiologist and his nurse were very nice and kept coming back to check on me. Eventually the head rush feeling wore off and I literally felt no pain through my contractions. However, it did not dampen the pain when I had that urge to push. Although the pushing itself was not as intense as it was with my natural childbirth. There are pros and cons to both natural and medicated. I would probably get an epidural again.

    The epidural felt like a staple down my spine but once the numbing kicks in it feels so warm I literally fell asleep and woke up ready to push

    i had to get the epidural bc of my hypertension and because the cervical checks were extremely painful. it lasted until i got to 8cm and then i felt the rest of the birth. 100% recommend getting it if you want it.

    So the first time I had an epidural was for my surgery to remove my thymus. I had no idea I was even getting one and when they told me I was terrified. I felt nothing during the procedure of the epidural. Years later and now pregnant, I'm only nervous on how different it might be with contractions mixed in.

    I thought I would be totally numb waist down and I wasn’t! It just wasn’t painful. It was amazing. I took a nap and woke up 10 cm, then pushed for 15 min. It was incredible, wouldn’t do birth without it!!!

    Omg ! That was quick . Unfortunately i can’t say the same for me . My experience was horrible !! So many things went wrong , first the two lady’s doing my procedure were learning .. um what ?? I didn’t even notice at the time because I was in pain w/ the contractions but they fucked up , pocked me twice !! They had to take the string pulled out and were feeling my back where I felt something move .. ugh it was horrible . It was my mistake to let two people who barely know what their doing do shit like that on me

    Yep sometimes, even the most experienced get it a bit wrong and you get half of you more numb than the other half! Happened to me, was more numb on my right than my left. Nurses made me lay on my left side to guide the anesthesia to that side. And idk but I absolutely hated the epidural procedure...she said its gonna feel like a little bee sting.! No!!! Hahaha made me tear up like a baby! My doctor said I had to make up my mind asap at that point whether I wanted the epidural or not cause the baby was COMING! It stung kinda bad... but totally worth it guys 😅👍😂❤

    I wanted a natural birth but wasn’t opposed to getting the epidural. After laboring for 21 hours ( 18 at home before heading into hospital ) and my contractions coming less than a minute apart I really needed a break. I’m so glad I got the epidural. The placement itself didn’t hurt whatsoever and I felt almost immediate relief. I feel like the pain from the contractions was making me tense up and was stalling my labor. Everything went so much quicker after getting the epidural. I literally just chilled until it was time for them to break my water and start pushing. I couldn’t feel anything while pushing, not even pressure. I ended up having a minor first degree tear which needed three stitches and I also didn’t feel any of that. If I ever got pregnant again, I’ll be planning to get the epidural again. Natural births CAN be so traumatic and I’ve heard of some women having PTSD afterwards because the pain was so severe, I’m so glad I had such a calm birthing experience.

    Just recently had my son three months ago and i always knew i was going to get an epidural because i did not want to feel any pain, BUT i did not know that it numbs your legs and you cannot move them, therefore u cannot walk which means u cant get up to go to the bathroom so they have to put a catheter in you! 😂 but the catheter didnt hurt bc my whole lower half was numb i didnt feel a THING! And the epidural itself really didnt hurt it was just the simple pain of a needle at first to get that area numb!

    I've had 4 epidurals done and every single time I dont feel them because the contractions are so painful and constant all I wanted was the pain to go away it was a life saver for me !!

      4 epidurals? This proves that chances of a woman becoming paralyzed are minimal unlike what I'm made to believe. I guess they just want to discourage me from it

    Both my epidurals failed after a few minutes. The second was memorably painful. It felt like they were playing violin with my spine. But I'll still ask for one this time around. Contractions are no joke...they are like a charlie's horse but 10x more painful.

    I didn't have epidural for a birth but had one before general anasethic for a hysterectomy in 2016 I've a medical phobia but am prone to pain after procedures and vomiting and this was a miracle after spraying my back to numb it didn't feel needle going in apart from funny sensation in one leg and I was numb immediatly they had to lift me back on bed I had a brill anasthetist and best surgeon in our area as I was a complicated case came round after surgery and needle was out but I had no pain or nausea
