I had a panic attack when I got mine. I think I just freaked myself out because I was already in so much pain and then the size of the needle freaked me out and I was just going thru a lot in that moment so I panicked. I stayed still and it got done REALLLLY quick like less than 2 minutes but I just had this sense of worry.

I was trying to go for an undmedicated birth but after being in labor for more than 3 days my body was tired and I had to get transferred to a hospital to get the epidural. Honestly had no idea this was how it was done. It did not hurt at all and I couldn’t feel a thing. My anesthesiologist was done in within 1-2 mintues. I felt so amazing afterwards though and was able to sleep.

I gave birth in Nashville. My favorite person I met while giving birth was my anesthesiologist, Ryan. I remember him in my mind as my angel because after a long laboring process and me not progressing normally, I know for a fact I wouldn’t have made it or have been aware during the birthing process. I still remember his name and how happy I was to see him. He was so quick, efficient and friendly. I was overjoyed to have a large needle placed in my back at that moment. 😂

This made me feel sick. It reminded me of my epidural which failed 3 times. Didn't work at all. I felt every tap and pull of them putting it in. I ended up with an emergency C-section and had to have a spinal instead which worked. I had an elective c-section the second time with a spinal and that went up to my brain and caused issues with my heart. (I'm fine now) I will NEVER ever put myself through that again. Never.

They don’t tell us, but you’re supposed to let the anesthesiologist know if you have scoliosis. Even a slight one.
I think that’s why my first epidural hit a nerve but I’m not sure as he wasn’t sure.
Apparently you’re supposed to tell them if you have scoliosis but it’s so common people don’t mention it. Many people have it and don’t know also.
The pain was short-lived, and the results were worth it for me vs more contractions but we’re all different.
Honestly, I was terrified of labor and delivery for years and the only scary part for me was honestly about 20 seconds of the epidural Lol. After that took effect : delivery was quite peaceful.

As long as you have a doctor that is experienced it’s not so bad. I’ve had 3 c sections and will be having another one in 8 weeks. My 2nd c section was awful. The doctor stuck me in the back 5 times. I was traumatized after that and kept telling everyone afterwards. When I had my 3rd c section I told them during the process and they saw the marks going up my spine. They however were great! They’ll be delivery my next baby as well.

I know this comment is 5 mos months old, but I had to reply, the same thing happened to me! He hit a nerve and I felt like my leg was on fire and I was being electrocuted up my spine at the same time. It probably lasted seconds but man did it traumatize me. Thank goodness w/ my second child epidural was painless.
He said it could be because I have a slight scoliosis .

I had an epidural with my 1st child and it was more pain that giving birth (the epidural wore off by the time I gave birth so I felt everything ) I was so scared to have an epidural with my 2nd child and thank god I went into labor unexpectedly 2 months early and had her in the ambulance so I didn’t have to get one. Side note….i felt the epidural ripple up my back and I have severe back pain to this day (which is actually my daughters 18th birthday today) has never been the same since.

Hei! I wanted to ask how do you deal with the pains ?because Am suffering too and the most irritating thing is that the so called doctors don’t want to admit the side effects.

Epidurals are elective and you're happy your baby was pre term? 🤨

I had this when I had a surgery. At first I was not aware that they inserted this at my back, only then when a nurse came and checked on me then she administered something on my back. It wasn't painful also when they removed the catheter.

Is it optional if you want a c-section or a natural birth?

    • @emmawieson2121

C section-no. Not unless you WANT to feel your lower abdomen being sliced open layer by layer by layer.

Omfgggg I didn’t know the needle was that fucking long. One of the most uncomfortable things I had to do during birth. I would twitch every time and get fussed at because I could become paralyzed. Like damn that’s a fucking weird sensation. Of course I might twitch

My epidural felt like my left leg was going to implode absolutely painful. Obviously the anesthesiologist did it wrong.
