This recipe is delicious! Tonight, while attempting to cook them in the oven, I could not make the oven work. The clock, the timer, the presets, the broil, and the cooktop burners all work. I cooked three patties in a frypan for about 5 minutes each side. Done! I cooked another three in my large electric fry pan - just placed the parchment paper with the patties on it right in the pan. About 5 minutes one side while the pan heated up, and another 3 minutes on the other side. The last 3 patties, on their parchment, went in to the heated pan and cooked @ 3-4 minutes each side! So, it is possible to fry them in a greased frypan. I don’t like having to clean the pan, afterward. The parchment paper (and patties) in the electric frypan was a huge win for me! Thanks, so much!
I make this regularly, though I add cream cheese, galric powder, Old Bay seasoning, and replace normal salt with celery salt. Salmon too, but with dill.
I love the big window in your kitchen. I remember that I used to climb out of the window of my grandma's kitchen and back in when I've finished picking oranges or lemons. She used to sit and read in a chair by the kitchen window, drink her tea, or just talk to visiting friends while waiting for the oven or food to cook.
I LOVE fish and on a 3/4 carnivore/ 1/4 keto diet this recipe is amazing. Make them up and freeze for later. I will add in some chopped Jalapenos to spice it up
@@lowcarbabode Definitely, they were sooooo yummy! I don't usually go for many recipes because I make keto for me and my husband and also make regular meals for our kids. It can get overwhelming. But I need treats like this so thank you!!!
I currently make a tuna melt using keto bread I bake (2.5 gms. of carbs per slice), but your patties look very good. Next time I'll make them,. I'm sure they'll be delicious, and I'll "save" 2.5 grams of carbs. Cheers.
All my life I have tried over and over to make these and always been disappointed. I remember being able to buy them outside the railway station as a child. Nothing I did ever came close to that peppery little patty in a brown paper bag. I will give this a try and let you know the results of my effort. Thanks Ludmila, 🇦🇺
I've just made them and they are delicious! Thank you for sharing, the whole house smells amazing heh I've added green onions instead and made a dipping sauce with yoghurt, olive oil and lemon 😍
looks amazing. i have to try them. so glad i discovered your channel, i really like the your straight forward , useful recipes. also, i'll consider to substitute some of the cream cheese with yogurt, as i want to reduce the calories and cream cheese is very expensive in my country
Thank you! I'm glad you like my channel 😃 I'm not sure if yogurt is a good substitute because cream cheese is much thicker and also acts as a binder. Maybe try a bit of mayonnaise instead? Just wouldn't want your mixture to turn out too thin.
@@lowcarbabode thanks, i'll probably try couple of versions and let you know. we have a product here that is thick like cream cheese but only 5% fat (its thickened with inulin if i remember). other option i used is to take a much cheaper and accesible - sour cream (9 or 15%) and drain it a bit with coffee/cheese cloth
@@lowcarbabode I was thinking of the water, too, so just squeeze a few cherry tomatoes or grape tomatoes and then chop them. The color would peek through. This is a cheap meal, too, for these hard times. Much obliged.
@@firetopmanI love tomato with tuna melts too. But I’m thinking of using this recipe and topping it with tomato slices, maybe putting them back in the oven briefly once topped.
Can you give a Fat - Protein - Carb ratio. My grand daughter has Glut1 deficiency that needs a minimum of 3:1 Fat:Protein and as few carbs as possible. Thanks.

Hope you can find other recipes that work ❤️
You can tell by this video how dry they look. They need more cheese or something. But, I haven't made them yet, I love the idea and will try, thank you.
All that onion must be a personal choice! Considering it's the least favorite vegetable around (found in opinion polls), why do cooks still want to throw it in everything?! It stinks up the kitchen and the breath, so how does that benefit anyone? Btw...Adding a bunch of chopped celery would cancel out the 2 carbs😉.
Feel free to drop the onion. It certainly is a personal choice and I think it just makes about everything taste better. And as an added bonus onion is super nutrient-rich!
Thank you for watching! Find the full recipe here lowcarbabode.com/keto-tuna-melt-patties/
I made them today, some without cheese for me and some with cheese for hubby. He loved his but mine were a bit dry. Maybe I cooked them too long
@@mariecurle7429 Maybe you can add more cream cheese or sour cream to yours to keep them from being too dry.

Sounds great,think I’ll do the same 😊👍
Tuna and pickles is a top tier combo

I eat these for breakfast one patty topped with a poached egg on top yummy

I used spring onions (scallions) instead of the ordinary onion - very tasty
I would suggest frying the onions before adding to the mixture.

I was just wondering if these would freeze well. Are you able to reheat the from frozen or do you need to let them defrost at room temp first?
This would be good with salmon or crab too.
Thank you for sharing
These look so tasty! Yum. I must try these soon. Dill sauce sounds very good with these.
Dill sauce sounds great!
I love these but haven't had them since I was a kid. Thank you!!
This recipe would work in a mini-wafflemaker. Just use onion powder and not fresh cut onion.
These came out great. I added celery and a sprinkle of salt on one side of the patties. Thank you for posting this.
Glad they turned out well!
I made this recipe with pepper Jack cheese- delightful and dipped in sour cream. Thanks! 🎉

My mother and grandmother used to make salmon patties. I realize tuna and salmon are two slightly different critters but I want to try this.
It should work well with salmon, too 😃

How about substituting some finely chopped tomato for the onion? I love this idea you came up with. It's a nice change of pace.

It's good cold, but you can also easily reheat in the oven (microwave should work too).
Do you have a recipe for the low carb hamburger buns you mentioned or do you buy them at the grocery store?

@@lowcarbabode Thanks for replying. I've never had tuna loaf either; I think it's made somewhat like meatloaf.

Have you tried without cream cheese & if so was it still good?
I've only tried it with cream cheese.
Chicken or turky melt patties??
Will canned chicken breast work too? Not a seafood person.
I think so!
can they be frozen
I haven't tried that, but I don't see why not 😃
I prefer tuna packed in oil…❤
Can I leave the cheese out as I am allergic
Not sure. The cheese holds it together.
What else can I use if I don't have cream cheese
I've only tried it wiry cream cheese. You could give another thick soft cheese a try (sour cream, yogurt, blended cottage cheese).
