I knit long strips of whatever bulky yarn I have, and sew them together big enough for a bed blanket. We had an ancient, drafty, cold farm house where we really needed the cozy wool warmth.
I'm watching this while knitting the Coziest Memory mitered square blanket by Kemper Wray. I'm loving it as a mindless knitting project that allows for variety and interest in choosing colors for the next block. I'm loving how it's turning out. It's pretty much the same as the first mitered square blanket you recommend. I've had a few of your recommended patterns in my Ravelry favorites for years, particularly the bee keepers quilt. Pretty sure I attempted a start at that one several years ago. I can't remember why I only made a few of the hexagons. Probably just got distracted.
So many great ideas! Thanks for sharing. 😊 I usually crochet blankets and knit garments. These look easily adjustable or maybe I’ll do something new like knit a blanket! I always enjoy your videos and come back to some over & over. Thanks! Christina 🤗🧡🧶
Is there a way to combine different weight yarns for a scrappy blanket? could i just adjust each square to make it the right size and then stitch together? I like the Stitch in Time idea
If they are close to the same yarn weight, I think it would be fine. If there's a big difference, you could always hold two yarns together to get a similar weight.
Not knitting (only been knitting a few years) but for crocheting I make what I call (and many others call) a bucket bag. Which is perfect to store your latest craft OR anything for the kids or pets ❤️ Also making cute toys and stuff for my kids uses up stash yarn ❤️
Thank u mam for this beautiful way to use scraps,God bless you for the wonderful inspiration, which surely I will follow n also make them I loved the pattern of the hut, please guide me through your channel God bless you 🙏🙏🙏 please reply....
I like all your projects. Can you please tell a good way to estimate leftover yarns for even distribution of colors on sweaters, cardigans, just so it makes an appealing combination.
Swatching and math! Patterns will tell you how much yarn you need (and some of the blanket patterns even say how much each knitted square uses). So you can use a kitchen scale to weigh your leftovers to make sure you have enough.
@@NerdyKnitting can you do just the roof? I'm having a terrible time of it and at a standstill. bought the pattern and the yarn and stuck. There is not one vid I could find on how to knit a triangle from bottom-up for a roof. Grrrrrrrrrrr.
You're picking up the stitches for the roof along the Garter stitch edge - if you do a search here on UA-cam you'll find videos about picking up stitches in Garter stitch. Then, after you've picked up the stitches, you're working the Even Triangle with decreases at the edges. I'm sorry I can't be more help. If you're really struggling you can contact the designer for more help.
@@NerdyKnitting thx u for the pick suggestion. I will do that. My other issue was the K2 together at the beg of color change row...maybe it's my tension but it just looks off on right side of the K2 tog.
you have shown so many beautiful projects for leftover yarns; another classic blanket would be done in knit "linen stitch"; you provided a tutorial feb 19, 2021; there are many examples on Ravelry: malabrigo scarf by scott rohr; linen scarf by heidi cantway; mini mania by sarah core; scrappy lengthwise scarf by zona sherman; nature's palette blanket by purl soho; any size yarn can be used and any size can be made, from premie to king size; thank you for your compilation for easy reference and great ideas /:)
Yes. That's my go to for fingering weight scraps that I don't knit into socks. I am working on my third linen stitch/moss stitch crochet blanket. They take forever, but are the perfect weight and warmth for Minnesota winters (all wool blend sock yarn).
I prefer making bags out of the scrap yarn since doing it in the round, once the bottom is sorted (sometimes with cotton rope sewn into a "reinforced" circle or starting with a knit circle). It makes a nice chaotic bag or one set in colors that follows a color pattern (green, blue, light blue = blue flower drawstring bag, etc.).

Aw, thanks! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video.
I have the safe at home blanket pattern but would love to see how the ground floor is done from start to finish. Could you do that for us?
I'm sorry I can't - it's not my design and the designer doesn't allow that.
Beautiful mam you teach the first one hut design

It's okay because those edges will get hidden when you pick up stitches for the triangles for the sky.
Do you have any free patterns for the video shown

Great suggestions! Linen stitch would make a lovely fabric for a blanket.
Crochet linen stitch works great too. I don’t think I have ever done the knit linen stitch. I’ll have to try that 💛💛💛
