Beekeepers quilt hexi's are stuffed. The pattern suggests joining at the corners but I'm seaming them instead. I'm also stuffing the puffs with yarn trimmings so zero waste
Oh thank you for the info! Great way to use up yarn ends then!
Lol I love that you take your knitting to the theater. I too always have yarn in my purse my kiddos think it's strange but I have a strict philosophy that if I can't take my yarn I'm not going. 😊
Totally agree lol. It comes everywhere with me!
What a friendly lady you are! Thanks for your excellent video.
Awe thank you!
I’m currently working on the Stained Glass Scrappy Blanket by Ladybug Laboratory. It is a mitered square blanket but with a thin black border surrounding each square. I loved this look much more than the ones without the border. I’m also making the Battenberg Blanket, as well.
Really enjoyed this episode and topic! Your blanket is beautiful! ❤
I absolutely love that you added the gray between all of the colorful arrows in your Northeasterly. I think that looks beautiful and makes it all look cohesive.
Thank you so much! That’s exactly why I did it, the craziness of full scrappy just isn’t for me haha
This was just ✨ primo content. Making the beekeeper quilt right now and so fun to see different scrappy blanket concepts!!
I’m so glad you enjoyed!
I love your Northeasterly Thanks for sharing and enabling me 🥰
I enjoy these posts about using up scraps. I’d love to see one on how to store and catalog those bits and pieces we want to hang on to for repairs and such.
I may not be the best person for that. Mine are literally all in a big bucket. Granted they are sort of sorted by color lol
Wow! Your Northeasterly blanket is beautiful. I definitely like how the gray makes it not your typical scrappy project.
Thank you so much!
Great video Amanda! I’ve always loved your Northeasterly Blanket. Thanks for standing up and showing it off!
You are so welcome! It's so pretty, I really need to get back to it!
Love your picks of blankets, they are all beautiful
Bindge watching your channel. I’m loving it so much. Looking forward to watching all your episodes and watching any new ones. So happy I found it
Awe that makes me so happy! 🥰
Really enjoyed this video. You've created some lovely blankets!
Thank you! 😊
I love your Northeasterly! I have that one and the Coziest Memories blankets on my list and got my scrappy yarn all gathered up! Thanks for the inspiration!
You're welcome! Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!
I am currently working on a log cabin blanket using bulky weight yarn, but I definitely need to make the Northeasterly next. It is beautiful! I think it would be a wonderful spring, summer weight blanket knit up in some nice cotton yarn. Thank you for the ideas!
It totally would be! Hope you love it!
Your Northeasterly blanket is beautiful!
Thank you Kelly!
Hi Amanda, just discovered your channel and love your content, especially this review of blankets. Thank you. I hv subscribed 🥰
That makes me so pleased! Thank you!
Great choices! I’m currently making the Battenberg…my first scrappy blanket project…and loving it!
I'm glad you're loving it! It's definitely on my list for some day!
I stumbled on your video while looking for a scrappy blanket to knit. I prefer knit blankets but I'm not crazy about the cozy memories mitered squares.
I've been searching for awhile never finding the right thing and voila... you introduce the northeasterly blanket which is EXACTLY what I've been looking for!!!
Thank you!!!!
Ahh you’re so welcome!! The northeasterly is literally SO fun. You’ll have to share some photos with me once you get going!
@@birchandlily I will...the problem is that I've already got a bulky knit blanket in hibernation and a worsted crochet blanket going. Do I really need a fingering weight wip too??
Check out the Nectar Blanket by Ysolda Teague! I started mine with DK a few weeks ago, making one hexagon at a time here and there. You can use whatever weight you want and of course use scraps or have a color scheme, etc. ❤
Ohh that’s so cute!! I love the lace, definitely adding to my list lol
Love your northeasterly version ☺️
Thank you!
Seaming can be swapped out for crocheting the edges together using a single crochet stitch even if that is the only crochet stitch the knitter ever learns
I’m currently knitting a scrappy Lullaby blanket by TinCanKnits and it’s any gague which has made it my go to for baby blankets as well, very fun pattern!
Ohh that’s so pretty! Haven’t seen that one!
Surprised to see a pattern from my lys. This had some really great recs. Thanks!
Ohh which one?!
A Little Knitty. I'm enrolled in a Sock Madness program there for the year. We're tackling a new sock pattern every month in hopes to learn new techniques. I'm desperately behind. Still working to finish Jan-Mar socks.
Do you have any suggestions for knitting a whimsical scrappy blanket with different weights of yarn, or do you have to stick with one weight for the whole blanket?
I definitely wouldn't mix weights on their own as your blanket will get all wavy and warped because they won't give you the same gauge. If you''re able to hold multiple skeins together to match gauges though you could do more of a marled look. (for example holding two different fingering weight yarns together to achieve DK, or two DK weights together to achieve approx. Worsted weight, etc)
Gosh, all are so beautiful ! How do I choose??
Ahh I know it's so hard!
It's a pinwheel quilt
Thank you! Knew it had a name haha
