Love these project ideas. It feels so good to get rid of scraps. BTW, knitting hot water bottle covers and gifting it with a hot water bottle makes a great gift. It is so comforting to use when having menstrual cramps, for cold feet in bed, etc.
I also like to gift covers for pads that can be used cool or hot. These are so simple, even beginners can make them and practice their knitting, crocheting, or needle binding skills with yarn scraps and mini skeins. 😊
Hello Taylor. I’m so new to knitting but was inspired by KnittyNatty. I just needed more yarn/knit chat and found you last night. I think I watched 4 vlogs in one sitting while working on my very first knit project-a washcloth with a needle definitely 4 sizes too big haha. I jumped on Ravelry after a couple of your ideas videos and now I have so many great easy project patterns that look doable for my rookie status. I quickly became a huge fan of yours and will continue on and look forward to new videos. You’re turning this crochet girl into a bonafide knitting fanatic.
Ask her & other crocheters to make hot bottel covers & other gifts, crafts & other stuff in the colors of different world countries flags😍to know them by heart & to let kids know them even the unknown nations' flags👏👍
Such great ideas! I LOVE the Firepit Mitts, Shortest Day Shawl, Granny Advent Blanket and Leftover City Cowl. Those were all added to my list. Thanks so much ... also, I came here to check you out because Leslie from Knotty Knitwits has so many good things to say about your videos!
Love this video and this idea! Im excited to get going on using up “leftovers” I never thought to use two strands of yarn together to make a heavier weight. Thanks!
couple other ideas are laptop “sweaters” (super similar design to hot water bottle cover) and book covers to protect those paperbacks when you throw them in your bag!
I love the Left Over City Cowl. I used it to teach myself colourwork knitting and loved it so much I knit 2 back to back and still plan on doing more. It's the perfect size for cold mornings walking the dog and keeps my neck nice and warm. Great stash buster.
Thank you for the great ideas Taylor! As always, great chat. I always appreciate the content you share with us. Keep warm, keep safe and keep knitting and yarning! 💖
For the Anesidora shawl she gives four yarn options with weights (grams needed per skein)!😍 1) scrappy 2) semi scrappy 3) two colors 4) combo (sample shown) 12-24 mini’s. The pattern is beautifully written for each option. Yay for no weaving in ends!!!!!🥳
That was a fun and helpful video and very generous of you to create and share. Very new to this, my total creations to date are 9 pairs of socks and I had no idea what to do with the leftovers, 10 th pair is for me and it’s sprocket socks
These are great! I may be the oddball here, but I enjoy weaving in ends. I find it rather meditative and soothing. I also like disentangling knots. Lol I’m looking forward to making the firepit mitts soon. I have some leftover fisherman’s wool in a few colors. I may use those.
You’re not an oddball! I’ve met several folks now who say the same thing and I can totally get it. Also, thank you so much for downloading the Fire Pit Mitts. I hope you enjoy them! ❤️
Ooh, great ideas here! I have more worsted weight than fingering/sock yarn scraps. Baby knits use smaller amounts of yarn and can still help bust stash. I have been wanting to make a pom-pom wreath for a long time out of some inherited yarn that I would normally not buy, but can still be useful.
Thank you for sharing these things with us. Sometimes you can't figure out what to do with the little bits of yarn you have. I do have a basket where all my left over yarn is and I've been working on a knit blanket for several years using the left over yarn. I love the Excavation pattern and I think I might try that. Thank you again, for inspiring all of us.
Hello from a cold and frosty Northern Ireland. Thank you Tayler for this video. The sprocket socks are a must for me. I have also just purchased your fire pit mitts pattern. I know my grandchildren will love them.
Hello Ethel! Thank you so much for watching and for purchasing my pattern. I hope the mitts and the sprocket socks bring lots of cozy knitting. How pretty it must be in your neck of the woods these days! Stay warm and Merry Christmas. 🎄
For me, it’s Selbu mittens. Super pretty, takes not a lot of yarn. Generally though? I let my scraps and minis back up a while before I set them up in pairs/trios and make something with a bunch of simple color work stripes. Usually a cowl or something else simple that I don’t need to worry about floats on.
Hi, Tayler! Your topics are just the best! Very practical, but you keep them fun. And the visuals! It's so nice that we can see what you are talking about and don't have to look up something just to see it. Just a big high five. Can't say enough good things about your channel. I look forward to every new video!
Great episode Tayler, as usual ! I love to use my ton of scraps to make the Granny Shawl by Charlene Van den Brande (available on Ravelry). Three good reasons for that : it's free - no ends to weave in, just fringes - you start at the top and you decrease on every row, which is my favorite method for a shawl.
Great ideas! Thank you so much for putting these together. This year I am using my advent as the stripes in a Stria Cardigan. It's the first time knitting a cardigan on such small needles, so I will be here forever! My other stash buster is the Bits and Bobs which is in Fisherman's Rib so it's knit and knit below so it's pretty fast and you can use sock held together and Dk on the same project.
Great video, great ideas for scraps. I have a big bag of leftover sock yarn in which I'm working on a blanket. I also thought about using some for a scrappy sweater.
Just knitted the FPMs for my mother-in-law for her Xmas present from me and my wife. They are a great pattern, and don't apologize for promoting them! They turned out beautifully. I'm sure she'll be thrilled:)
I crochet, not knit. But, i have so much scrap yarn. I do a lot of scrap shawls and a few scrap beanies. Started my second scrap blanket a few days ago.
I have that basket full of scrap yarn so I am very appreciative of suggestions like this. I wonder, too, if the smaller scraps could be used to make up small toys, Christmas tree decorations, maybe other small items yet to be suggested. I must explore this. Thanks for your inspiration. 🤗
I really enjoyed this. I’m going to head of]ver to your page to check out the rest. I’m hoping to find more for thicker yarns. I have a lot of worsted and bulky weight yarns. Maybe I will knit or crochet a throw.
I love all these ideas!! I watched this while using minis to make my socks for Christmas. I picked a larger partial skein as my MC and I'll be using different minis for the stripes. 😊 And I'll be adding some fun color to the fire pit mitts I'm making for my kids with any leftovers!
Thank you for all of these ideas. I can highly recommend the Sprocket Socks. I found that pattern on Ravelry at the start of December and have used some of my advent minis to make them. They look so effective and I’ll definitely use this pattern again and again as there are so many different effects you could create with it.
This was really helpful because as I watched I realized I have one of my advents that had a lot of pinks in it, sand I could make a cowl for my friend whoo loves the color! ❤️
What yarn did you use for this lovely green sweater you are wearing? I probably saw your podcast on it as I have seen most but do not recall. It looks so beautiful on you. Thank you Tayler for all these fantastic moments in the knitting world. I wait for your Sunday and Wednesday broadcasts as they are my treat in the mist of a busy, hectic day.
I was just gifted a large bag of partial sock yarn skeins and your fire side mitts were exactly what I was looking for to use some of it up. Can’t wait to get started!
I like to make a magic knot ball and hold double with a neutral to make Stephen West's Garter Squish Throw. I've made several with both fingering and worsted weight scraps and they're always a hit.
I finished two colour matching blankets this year and I'm going to use the leftovers to make a basket to put them in! It's the scrap yarn basket pattern, which is great for me cause I can hold two chunky yarns together to make it.
Love this and can’t wait to check out your bundle. Best take away was to Find a basic pattern with stockinette or garter and run with it. I like the non-end weaving ones a lot
I'm making the Melting Marl Shawl right now using up advent + scrap yarn. I just created my own fade and am going to town with random amounts of rows where I'm marling the colors. It's so fun!
Brilliant ideas, Tayler! Late summer of this year is when I became a little comfortable with my knitting. I've been knitting (then frogging) a lot of raglan pullovers. I don't feel bad though. I would like to think that I've been practicing my knitting skill. Haha... Time to get a journal and start making plans for next year (which is just around the corner). 🙂 Thank you for sharing! Have a wonderful evening.
BRILLIANT video - thank you for sharing these. you just saved me so much freaking time, perusing Ravelry. I favorited like 4 of these designs. thank you thank you thank you. xoxoxo
I don't have pattern suggestions, but I find I really like to use scraps with brioche stitch, striped in half fisherman's rib, or other textured stitches like slipped stitches. My personal taste, but I find that textured stitches can pull the colors into conversation with each other rather than blending like with a marl. To each their own! I love scrappy projects!
Greetings from Holland. I am a new big fan of your potcast and i love it! I have a big stash of cotton yarn and trouble finding scrappatterns for this yarntype. Any suggestions?
I barely know how to knit. I basically only remember how to do a long tail cast on lol I typically crochet and i find a lot of knitting projects very daunting because a lot of them use smaller yarn and small needles but I have never wanted to knit some mittens so badly in my life. My 2023 goal is to make your fire pit mitts cause I have tons of yarn I have no plans for and the pattern doesn’t scare me 😂
I gathered and divided my leftovers by yarn weight and am currently making a linen stitch something. I’ll knit until my yarn in a particular weight is gone. Maybe it’ll be a scarf, a shawl, or a throw. If there’s a mistake with the linen stitch and colored yarns it’s hard to notice. Besides I can use it to keep warm on chilly days in my house.
See, this is how it’s done! Just knit away and enjoy the process and the changing colors and texture. A great way to enjoy those little bits of pretty yarn. Thank you for watching Elaine. ❤️

I totally agree. I think that’s such a sweet gift and very useful!
I also like to gift covers for pads that can be used cool or hot. These are so simple, even beginners can make them and practice their knitting, crocheting, or needle binding skills with yarn scraps and mini skeins. 😊
A continous granny square blanket is my favourite project for using up yarn.
I feel like I’m the same. It just seems to make perfect sense. You just keep adding to it as you acquire new remnants. A symbiotic relationship. ☺️❤️
I have deliberately saved bits and pieces in a basketball sized ball to do this
Blankets is all I seem to be doing
Or log cabin; just make each section the size of your scraps.
AND your fireplace mitts are a lovely blank slate for embroidering on using other "scrap" yarns :)
I was just thinking that too!!

This means so much Shari (is that correct?)! Thank you. I’m happy to have you here. ❤️❤️
I love your setting! So cozy 🥰
Thank you! I love these ideas because they are simple! Nothing too complicated. ❤
My pleasure Sara! Thank you for watching!
Ask her & other crocheters to make hot bottel covers & other gifts, crafts & other stuff in the colors of different world countries flags😍to know them by heart & to let kids know them even the unknown nations' flags👏👍
Thanks for putting together patterns to use up minis or leftovers!! I especially like the fringed patterns to cut down on the end weaving!!
I'm just seeing this now. I'm so excited to try these stash busting patterns. Thank you 😊
So I jumped onto Amazon to buy a hot water bottle to knit a cover for....and most of them come with knitted covers! That gave me a chuckle!
Thank you for taking so much effort for selecting these fabulous patterns.
My pleasure Geeta!
Love these ideas, especially for us new knitters!
Thank you so much for watching and I just love Leslie. Both of them are the sweetest. Their podcast is one of my favorites. ❤️
Love this video and this idea! Im excited to get going on using up “leftovers” I never thought to use two strands of yarn together to make a heavier weight. Thanks!
Thank you! I'm going to make the Shortest Day this advent!! I never steeked before, I'm excited to do something new!
Hello Taylor, I'm so glad I found you!
Hi Kim! Welcome! So glad you found me. ☺️
I love your living room, it’s so cozy!
Thank you Dana! That’s actually my office and it’s my little cozy haven. ☺️
Thanks for all the ideas!
My pleasure Dorothy! Thank you for watching. ❤️
couple other ideas are laptop “sweaters” (super similar design to hot water bottle cover) and book covers to protect those paperbacks when you throw them in your bag!
Yes!!!! Great suggestion!
I love the Left Over City Cowl. I used it to teach myself colourwork knitting and loved it so much I knit 2 back to back and still plan on doing more. It's the perfect size for cold mornings walking the dog and keeps my neck nice and warm. Great stash buster.
I’m super new to crotchet, and for now plan on using the bits I have left over to make a stitch sampler blanket. Practical on multiple levels.
I love love love her patterns. She has a great scrappy blanket in her salt and timber book too.
My favorite way to use up my scraps of yarn is to make a 10 stitch blanket. I've made several for my family including one for my cat.
Tayler this was so perfect! Thank you for taking the time to share with us. 🥰
My pleasure Deb. Thank you for watching! ❤️
That was a fun and helpful video and very generous of you to create and share. Very new to this, my total creations to date are 9 pairs of socks and I had no idea what to do with the leftovers, 10 th pair is for me and it’s sprocket socks
I'm so glad you enjoyed it Norah. Thank you for watching!
Such a nice list. Your videos are very informative.
Thank you for taking the time to make these presentations
Excellent, helpful selection, great idea gathering. Thanks 🙂
Another good service! Love these podcasts.
Thank you for watching Linda!
These are great! I may be the oddball here, but I enjoy weaving in ends. I find it rather meditative and soothing. I also like disentangling knots. Lol

My pleasure Susan! And I know! This video was a whirlwind! I wanted to get it all in! 😅😅❤️❤️

Ooo a pom pom wreath would be soo much fun to make!
Great ideas, but way too much repetition. How many times can you say mini skeins? multi color?
Thank you for sharing these things with us. Sometimes you can't figure out what to do with the little bits of yarn you have. Hi, thanks for these good ideas on how to use scraps 🙂
Nice job!! I like your choices! ❤❤
Thank you Brenda!

Gosh Rachel, this really makes my day. I'm so glad that you're enjoying the channel and finding the topics useful and fun. Truly, thank you. ❤️
I love the cowl. Lovely.
All great suggestions. I've been making Turn-A-Square beanies. Many stripes; you could swap out master color stripes and use leftovers.
I don’t knit but for some reason I found this facinating😂
Great ideas! Thank you so much for putting these together. This year I am using my advent as the stripes in a Stria Cardigan. I love your fire pit mitts. Don’t stop talking about them! I have made three pairs in the last couple weeks! Now I might try them with my leftovers
Thank you so much Laurie! That means a lot to me. ❤️
The Juniper cowl from TL Yarn Crafts is great for crocheters as well.
Once again, a super useful video! And it helps that you have such good taste, so I don't have to cringe at your recommendations.
Thank you Kari!! ❤️

For fingerless mitts, I really enjoy using tweed yarn. The texture!! I made a pair of elbow length with tweed.
My favorite is the Granny blanket! Great ideas to use up yarns!
I think that one is my favorite too, for Advent yarn especially. Soo cute! Thank you for watching Linda!
Thank you for sharing great ideas 🌸💕🐟
You are so welcome! Thank you for watching!

Yay!! So glad this is providing some additional inspo! Happy knitting and Merry Christmas Kelly! ❤️
Fantastic ideas! I have so many of these small skeins/leftovers to use up & this is super helpful.
I’m so glad. Thank you for watching Terri!
Wonderful podcast!!
Thank you for watching Suzanne! ❤️
Thank you for all of these ideas. I can highly recommend the Sprocket Socks. I found that pattern on Ravelry at the start of December and have used some of my advent minis to make them. Thanks for all your efforts coming up with these great ideas!❤
Another great episode. I have referred to your quick knits one and will definitely come back to this one! Thank you. 😊
Thank you so much Kay!
Loved this episode. So many great ideas!
Thank you so much for watching Gary! ❤️
This was really helpful because as I watched I realized I have one of my advents that had a lot of pinks in it, sand I could make a cowl for my friend whoo loves the color! ❤️
Thanks for the tips, what pattern did you use for your sweater? It is beautiful!
I love the shawl and hot water bottle patterns
What yarn did you use for this lovely green sweater you are wearing? I probably saw your podcast on it as I have seen most but do not recall. It looks so beautiful on you. I was just gifted a large bag of partial sock yarn skeins and your fire side mitts were exactly what I was looking for to use some of it up. Can’t wait to get started!
This makes my day Rose! I’m so glad you’ll be playing with color while you knit a pair. Enjoy and thank you! ❤️
This is such a great use of the scraps and very functional, which I love! ❤️❤️
Oooh some great options here! I especially love the Leftover City cowl and the Shortest Day Shawl.
Love this and can’t wait to check out your bundle. Best take away was to Find a basic pattern with stockinette or garter and run with it. I like the non-end weaving ones a lot
I’m so glad this was helpful Suzanne! Thank you so much for watching!
I'm making the Melting Marl Shawl right now using up advent + scrap yarn. I just created my own fade and am going to town with random amounts of rows where I'm marling the colors. It's so fun!
That sounds beautiful Lindsey!
My pleasure Liz! Thank you for watching and have a lovely weekend! ❤️
Thank you for this one! I love all of it!
Before you even said it I was thinking about your Fire Pit Mitts! I just finished my first pair for my daughter and I can’t wait to make more!
Oh I’m so glad! Thank you Amy! I’ve seen lots of folks playing with color with the mitts so I felt them an appropriate option. ❤️❤️
Smart using the scale to show how much yarn is used /needed!
I don't have minis and i don't have much scraps.... You made me want to buy minis 😝hello from Athens, Greece.
BRILLIANT video - thank you for sharing these. you just saved me so much freaking time, perusing Ravelry. I favorited like 4 of these designs. thank you thank you thank you. xoxoxo
My pleasure Lorelei! I’m so glad this helped! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you, I really appreciate all your video and this is one just ❤️🧡💛💚💜anf usefull. Thanks
My pleasure Chantele!
Great ideas, Tayler! Thank you. ⛄️🤶🏻🎄Just purchased your Fireplace Mitts pattern and the neighborhood Hat. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you for purchasing the patterns Catherine! Merry Christmas to you!!
Thank you, thank you!
Thank you for this! I have so many ideas now 😁
I just bought your Fire Pit Mitts! Thank you for all the “mini skeins” pattern options. Another great episode! 😊
Thank you so much for watching and for purchasing the mitts! Happy knitting on them!❤️
Have you looked at the Battenberg blanket. It is amazing for using those leftovers!!😊
I love knitting phone, kindle, laptop or tablet cases.
Ooo yes! Great idea!
AWESOME ideas!
Thank you for sharing.
I make socks, i can usually get 3 socks out of one skein. I keep the left overs in case i have to make that 3 rd sock.
I REALLY LOVE the fire pit mitts! Everyone is getting a pair this Christmas
That means a lot. Thank you so much Jenna!
I barely know how to knit. I basically only remember how to do a long tail cast on lol I typically crochet and i find a lot of knitting projects very daunting because a lot of them use smaller yarn and small needles but I have never wanted to knit some mittens so badly in my life. My 2023 goal is to make your fire pit mitts cause I have tons of yarn I have no plans for and the pattern doesn’t scare me 😂
This means a great deal to me. That is quite a compliment. I so hope you do cast on to them soon. And please let me know how you like them. ❤️❤️❤️
Great suggestions. I love the “Exotic Burst Cowl” on Ravelry, even if it does use a skein of neutral color yarn, too. Great Xmas gift.
I've been using up 10g minis knitting the Calico quilt shawl really pretty and can be converted into a blanket
Oooo great suggestion! Thank you Jenny!
wait WHAT ravelry finally has an app!?! i'm late to the game!! so exciting
It sure does! It’s called Ravit. 👍👍
