I’ve lived in Mérida for almost 6 years and I have so many stories of the generosity, helpfulness, hard work, and honesty of the people of Mérida and Yucatán.
Jose is right about the heat - it is hot and it is humid. But this is a 21st Century City. Shops, restaurants, and cinemas are very generously air-conditioned. Emphasis on GENEROUSLY. There are cinemas here called platinos with stadium seating and chairside food and drink service. It’s so cold in those movies that you can grab a blanket from a shelf on the way in. I always take a blanket. So there’s lots of ways to keep cool in Yucatán.
There is no place else on earth that I’d rather live than Mérida.

The good thing about Merida is that it has seasons: hot, hotter hottest, and hot.
I found February, March, and April to be like West Texas, hot but dry. May and June are baking hot. You realize what the turkey at Thanksgiving feels like in the oven. July, August, and September are hot and humid, but they are not any hotter than it is in Florida. Starting in October it begins cooling down.
In January the weather report here in Merida listed a "severe cold front" coming through. It was dropping to 71 degrees. Actually this last week it got to 65° and I about froze. Thankfully I still had winter clothing from before.
The best way to deal with the heat is to watch internet shows of people up north sliding around in their cars, shoveling driveways and sidewalks, and cleaning snow off their roofs. About 15 minutes of viewing makes the heat not feel as bad.

It's strange - when I was younger, I couldn't handle the heat. When I went to Florida with a girlfriend, I felt like I was melting. Now that I"m a bit older, the heat doesn't bother me and I'm wearing jeans all the time. It's the cold that kicks me in the rear.

I used to live in Arizona and even southern California in the desert in 125+ temps in an RV, but if there was high humidity, no way I would have stayed there.
The temperature and humidity is the #1 reason I can't begin to think about living in any coastal area of Mexico🥵😂
I've lived in Florida too, hate that place, especially those ants😩. As I mentioned before, I've traveled in many countries and all throughout the USA and Mexico City ended up the best for "me". But, I certainly agree with all your reasons why people should consider moving to Merida. Especially, if they want to get far away from the rat race and finally get a peace of mind and freedom. Absolutely 100% 👍

Enjoying your videos but id have to say im not sure where u came up with the food not being very good in your what u dont like about Merida video. It is so weird to watch my neighborhood on a youtube video, I bet you were driving the bike on a sunday around 4pm, the Chen-Bech market was closed and the sun is already in the west.
I stand corrected, maybe it was saturday, there are too much cars parked around, it has to be saturday because there are less cars than on a regular week day but more than sundays.
Yeah definitively saturday, you actually passed my house starting your 7th reason and my car wasn't parked there, so it has to be saturday, I almost never go out around that time on the week days.
And I think you are right, Mérida is growing too quick, even if I don't like it, a lot of foreigners are buying real state and the Government in Yucatán has always been under the control of the Mérida elite, they make most of their money on the construction business, they buy the little villages around Mérida for cheap and then develop it into hipster neighborhoods for people that is not from Yucatán. i don't like it because they are abusing our water reserves and some day they will start to shrink, we are also eliminating the jungle area and that contributes to the extreme heat, and last but not least, the crime, the bigger the city the more crime it is.

Watching lots of other videos of this area. Seems promising, but why is everyone still masked up? I'm looking to escape that kind of stuff in Canada.

Its because we live in a Free country and those people choose to wear it like I choose to never wear one ever. Everyone respects each others decision out here even if they dont agree with it. The plus side is no one is pushing anything on you either so to each their own

@@JoseArteagaTravels Got it. Thanks for the reply. That is exactly it, if you choose to do it. Go for it, but don't push it on other people and respect their decisions.
I was not sure how 'enforced' this was...its been a nightmare up here.
      Take care.

      Have you been to Merida
Pretty sure it's safer than any city in the usa or Canada

Not sure where in the video you heard that, Like I said Merida is the safest city in Mexico and 2nd safest in all of the Americas

Hmm. The sheer overwhelming size of Miami is not appealing. Escalating and inflated prices, traffic congestion, just too much density, high crime rate. Little Mérida will lose the very thing that draws people to it. And if it comes anything close to what Miami is, Mérida will never be the safest city ever again. That makes it the exact opposite of why I would want to move to Mérida. :(

I agree but it will take decades before its anywhere close to what Miami is
