I am doing the Laura Heine flamingo wall hanging. this is my first one. I cannot wait to get started. so far I have my fabrics and my background piece with my pattern on it.
What a fun project. I wish Denise's mike was closer to her mouth. I couldn't hear what she said. I can't wait to follow along and try this out.
I've been asked to make a quilt, but there's nothing out there in that theme, so I landed on collage quilting as a way to make it. I'm excited to see your progress and learn so hopefully I can do this too and make something beautiful that will be loved.

I have a pattern I’ve been wanting to do. I’m looking forward to sewing along! I’d love to do it on my Amara.
I would like to do a real simple but small picture but the cow collage using strips seems like a pretty good one to start with.
I hope that you will share tips and techniques for quilting through the layers and layers of fabric and Steam a Seam 2. It seems to play havoc with tension and skipping.I love the collage quilts and have one ready to go on my Amara. I’m anxious to see the end result of all your projects.😊

I am interested in how you, as experienced quilters take to this challenge with out the art background! I’ve seen a video on the panel with the orange tree and some other collage videos. They are a lot of very very very tiny pieces and you do need to get value/level of the lightness to darkness issue clearly in view! Christina Whitney doing the long arm over the many pieces and not having the piece flip back or the glue being too lumpy will certainly be a challenge. I’ve done many raw edge appliqués they work very well on my Juki in FMQ mode but it’s only one layer! I’ve found cut outs around say a butterfly, that leave an .5-1.0 inch around an object, that works well without any glue or iron on backing. Best if stitching starts more in the center and is directed out as you go at the edge of the feature will keep it tacked down with quilting stitching.
I plan on doing a small project using “mosaic” like prints to attach larger pieces than usually is customary for collages. That means fewer very tiny pierces. Also note I’ve done some fabric color embellishments with fabric markers this help with shading, so even if you don’t quite get the right level of darkness it’s good to know there is a remedy so your finished project can still be artistic! Thanks for the series, I’ll look for them!
One more comment, I got a very small pattern of Laura Heinz’s (Frog I think) she had so little help on doing her pattern in the “instructions” that I never got another one! I always wanted to do that cow but after seeing how small the pieces actually are in a collage I didn’t think I’ld ever do one! A kit version is advisable if you don’t understand light/dark values! We will see how those LH patterns go!

Where do we find the “pattern ease” listed on the supplies list? What is this and can you use a product like Quilters Dream batting?
It is more of a stabilizer or foundation product. It can be found at Laura Heine's website or other quilt shops.
Denise needs to adjust her mic in the future so we can hear her better.
Would love to see the lemon tree when done.

I love your learning videos. However you sound system really needs work. The volume fads in and out. Please fix this. It is hard to follow along when I can't hear everyone talking. Thank you.
