      @Lapinporokoira Yeah, I'm not sure how they expected a fight scene with a skeleton to be done without stop motion. in the time this movie was made. That has to be kept in perspective. Honestly, even though the skeleton sticks out and is a little jarring, it is impressive none the less that it was choreographed to be used in a fight scene with real actors. Cuz I'm assuming the stop motion was done on a smaller scale than we see in the scene and then cut into the shot with editing.

      @SpinDoc420 I don't think it all has to do with age though. It also has to do with exposure. I'm younger than they are by a handful of years I'm guessing. But most of the horror movies I watched in the beginning were older ones, despite what was out at the time.
      The reason I said that I don't understand is because they seem to have seen a lot of older films. So I was confused as to why they expected better effects than what were available at the time of the movie's release.

  • @gutz1981
    @gutz1981 7 місяців тому +65

    Wes Craven's original script for this was so messed up, a lot of swearing and Freddy was not having any "fun" at all and was k!lling the Elm Street youngsters in a very angry manner. One scary part with Phillip when he is walking as a puppet is when he looks up and can see a giant Freddy puppeting him and Phillip is like "Why are you doing this to me." and a drooling Freddy by like "Cause I like you." In another instance, one kid sees her grandmother in a rocking chair, so the kid runs to hug her and kneels and places her head onto her grandmas lap and she hugs her, before she turns into Freddy and his stomach opens up and eats the kid. In fact, cause he can't eat her fast enough, Freddy gets angry and chops off her legs as she is halfway into him. Plus it has some elements of Freddy's birth as Nancy witnesses it, similar to what we say in Dream Child. Either way, I got scared reading it.

    • @Lava91point0
      @Lava91point0 7 місяців тому +13

      The grandma stomach thing was swapped out for Giant wormhead freddy I'm guessing, the slightly sexually abusive undertone is still there, but not quite as harsh. The original script makes him come across as far far, more menacing and vicious. I like to think on a parallel earth, they kept that script.

    • @gutz1981
      @gutz1981 7 місяців тому +7

      @@Lava91point0 Its an odd story indeed, especially the whole Tree thing where Nancy is travelling to find the house Freddy was born in and comes across a young woman who she later sees dead in a tree on a farm if I am not mistaken and her father plays a much bigger role as well. The closest parallel I can think of to the Grandmother scene is where Nancy sees her father and she goes to hug him and he turns out to be Freddy. I should read that script again its been such a long time.

    Dream Warriors is without a doubt the best A Nightmare on Elm Street Sequel. It reset the rules again, creating amazing Nightmare/Dream sequences and set designs, and of course the practical effects were top notch. I'm sure by now you know that the skeleton was practical using Stop-Motion Animation. This film really brought a mixture of Horror and Fantasy elements, so it's best really not to overthing the whole thing with Freddy's bones...lol just go with it, but definitely a HUGE step up from Freddy's Revenge bringing back Wes Craven as Co Writer.

    I never hear anyone discuss it, but Joey being mute due to a traumatic event is never really explained. But he is in the self-harm ward, and when we first see him he has a tear drop tattoo under one eye, usually a symbol that someone has killed another person.
    My assumption was always that Joey attempted to end his life in a car crash, but instead survived and only claimed the life of another person, explaining the tear drop tattoo and that “he doesn’t talk anymore”.
    If not a car crash, then some other way he would have attempted on his own life but inadvertently claimed someone else’s.

    One thing, that wasn’t CGI, that was old school stop-motion animation. And yes, it does look weird, but back then, that was probably the only way to realize that kind of effect.

      Dream Master is a banger, very fun movie, with a good pacing, a lot of great kills and maybe the best ending of the franchise, the only think that pissed me off was the recasting of Patricia Arquette; Dream Child is way weaker, but still decent, with a visionary direction and great fantasy visual effects and still better than the turd of Freddy's Dead.

  • @GhostKyng

    This is my first and favorite Freddy movie!!!!! I use to have a bunch of super hero dreams fighting demons and stuff.
    Fun facts:
    • The Freddy glove that was stolen from the set of this film was found in another movie: it was hanging on the wall of the work shed in Evil Dead II.
    • Ken Sagoes (Favorite actor at the time) stated in an interview he really didn't want to audition for the role of Kincaid, but his agent talked him into going. On the day of the audition, he walked in heavy rain to catch a bus to the location. He showed up completely drenched and had to sit and wait for a few hours, due to the auditions running late. When it was his turn, Director Chuck Russell told him, "Do whatever you want to do." Sagoes was so frustrated and mad about the whole ordeal that he yelled "F*%#@ YOU!," and then proceeded to scream and cuss out Russell. Russell immediately hired him.
    • This film is the debut of Patricia Arquette and Jennifer Rubin.
    • Aftee filming, Robert fell asleep in full makeup and when he woke up, he scared himself.
    • The fire department was always on set during filming of the boiler room scene. The smoke from the machines nauseated many of the actors and actresses.
    • When Taryn is first seen in the hallway, she's wearing a Dokken shirt. Dokken wrote and performed "Dream Warriors" for this film.
    • Although it seems Krueger killed Elaine Parker, Kristen's mother, he did not. She appears in the next film A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master.

    This film is a great representation of depression. Most people shrug off depression and suicide as a means to get attention or to be a wimp when for those of us who have been through depression and suicide, it is so much more than just that. It does feel like something is controlling us and wants us dead. It does feel like we aren't ourselves when we do it.
    It's not an easy thing to go through and I feel lucky to have found a way out but a lot of people don't. So when the kids are using their "powers" in the dream, it feels like more of a representation of seeking out things in your life that you love in order to try to find a way out of the "nightmare" that is depression and suicide. Also this is the best in the franchise.

    This was my introduction to Freddy back in the day. I've seen it, and all of them, multiple times since then but this will always be my sentimental favourite because it was my entry point. I'd have loved to see an extended version where the kids got to fight Freddy together before being separated, some way to give them more time to show off their dream powers, but I still love it. IMO the next one's a step down before 5 & 6 bottom out, with New Nightmare being a massive step up in quality, but they're all good

    CGI did not exist at this time ladies. Everything was practical and optical effects. Also blue screens and matte paintings. The skeleton was stop motion, like the T-800 in Terminator.
    Freddy’s spirit jumped out of the dream and into the skeleton, because he realized that the bones were being moved. Once he immobilized the doctor and Nancy’s dad, he returned into the dream world. That’s why the doctor was able to push the bones into the pit and sprinkle holy water on it.
