So insane to watch a video from someone who has probably never been to Saint Cloud Minnesota give such an accurate description of it. I can't believe you even mentioned Val's!
I moved here a year ago. What I like about it is I don't need car. I walk to the grocery store, restaurants, doctors office etc...It also has a major airport, just took a non-stop flight to London. Tap water in Minneapolis is pretty good too. Winters suck but that's when I leave for a couple months.
I have Lived in Mn for 24 years and yes parts of it has taking a turn for the worst but so has most the country. Every state has good and bad parts. One thing I can say for sure is there is a lot of things to do here in summer and in winter. Im originally from East st louis so crime rate here compared to where Im from is nothing. I lived in Bloomington MN for majority of the time I have been in this state. I love it here the medical community in this state is top notched and the reason I'm still here to this day. They have went above and beyond in keeping me alive and its one reason ill never leave. Love it snow, cold and all. Look on the bright side it could be far worst.
As a minnesotan i a blame part to the big migration of people living in Chicago to minneapolis 🤷🏻♀️I grew up in North minnepolis walking 2 blocks to the corner stores and 4 blocks to my uncles house and back safely all the time as a kid nowadays you cannot let your kid out in the yard without the fear of them being shot
Yep. A lot of trash has been moving to MN from Chicago, Baltimore, and St Louis. The major cities and even the inner suburbs are quickly turning to shit.
@@kgf.o.e4129Don’t listen to them. Most of the problems involve poor white people on meth. This state isn’t even diverse enough to blame minorities for everything.
To be honest, I think the best suburbs are the Northeast of the Twin Cities stretching from Arden Hills, Shoreview, North Oaks, Vadnais Heights, White Bear Lake, Mahtomedi and over to Stillwater. Much nicer than the western suburbs which are overpriced and overcrowded. The topography and lakes are nicer as well.
I agree as well. I grew up in North Oaks, live in Shoreview, work in White Bear Lake. Super nice area without all the snob attitudes of the west metro people.
I was born in Rochester, I have lived in Minneapolis most of my life. I have been getting the itch to come back home. I miss all the geese at the park.
I took a train from Minneapolis to western Montana when I was 18 and never looked back. You couldn’t pay me to live in the Twin Cities or any other metropolitan area. I can work outside at my house all evening and never see a mosquito because I’m at just the right elevation in the mountains; down in the valley…..Watch out! 🦟 Next to no crime but the house across the street that sold for $89,000 in 1983 just sold for $650,000 with barely any yard! My house is up higher on two lots with a 40-mile Mountain View but I’m staying! Too many people from California have left for Montana and driven housing prices and property taxes through the roof.
I use to Live in South Minneapolis Just A Few Blocks From The Riots, And I Worked On Lake Street Where The Riots Were, And The Building I worked In Was Burned Down. Once I Was Robbed At Home, And Another Time My Car Was Stolen, So I moved Way Out South To A Very Small Town. Much Safer Now❤🙏
Cannot argue as I live in North Minneapolis and a retired semi driver. I have been through all those area's and have spent many years working out of St.Paul. If there was a time machine and you could go back 20+ years you would see the real Minnesota most grew up loving. For me mid 1950s- all of 1970s awesome!
Lol. Sounds like he's never been to MN. The towns he picked sent to bad. That's just goo old Minnesota. Try rolling around south MPLS or over north or run through little earth or little Mogadishu at 2a.m.😮get jacked real quick. Brainard, st, cloud, Albert lee😂😅😂😅😊

Look into John J O'Connor in The Layover act how Minneapolis Saint Paul was a safe haven criminals that were protected by authorities and politicians and those activities were still going then and are still going today
Born and raised in Saint Paul, MN. It’s my fave state and it’s my home. I don’t care what anyone says, this is where I’ll die. Die hard Minnesotan here. Love the cold, love the humid, love the falls, love it all. Thanks for reading!
I lived in St. Paul from '74 to '82, and I loved everything about it -- except the winters. The last year I was there, we had a string of 20-plus days where the temperature never got above 0F. That was the final straw for me. I still go back there every year or two to visit friends and enjoy the wide variety of food, events and fun venues, but I limit my trips to from May to October.
I might qualify the statement of Minneapolis being a place you would never want to move to in Minnesota given that it’s still the employment hub of the state. You could probably drill down to certain neighborhoods in the city that have the most violent crime and advise people to avoid those. Also living in one of the immediate suburbs may also be a good option.
I grew up in MN and lived there for 25 years until I moved away. There's a lot of things to love about it but the weather is what drove me out. It's either absolutely freezing (very few people in this country actually understand what that means) - for reference, 32 degrees is a beautiful day out there, below 0 is what we consider cold; or it's hot as hell and humid, and don't get me started on the mosquitoes, you'd be hard pressed to find anywhere they are worse, seriously. It's probably one of the least sunny places in the world and that's what ultimately decided the move for me. I need sun! I don't miss it at all but I am proud to be from there. It's like "bootcamp" for the rest of your life, because once you get out, everything just seems that much better. The list is fairly accurate, nowhere in MN is really that bad in terms of crime, although I have heard from relatives who still live there that crime has truly skyrocketed since mid 2020. Like nothing they've ever seen before since the 1960's. St. Cloud should be #1 on the list, that is by far the last place I and many others would ever live there. I know a lot of natives and locals would agree. Something about that place is just depressing and the vibe is just way off.
You get used to the cold. You dress for it and stay active. There’s so much to do in the winter. If you close yourself up in you house for the winter it’s definitely depressing. But if you embrace the winter and get out and enjoy it it can be your favorite time of year. Fall is mine… the weather is beautiful, the bugs aren’t so bad
@@wfo131 All that is true, but doesn't apply to me. I've been snowboarding and playing hockey my whole life. I did really love winter for that, and I can deal with cold weather, but not getting sunshine for weeks and months really messed me up mentally. That is very evident for me now that I live in a sunny place and the people around me are genuinely happier than Minnesotans. Sunshine is something every human needs, some more than others, and that's a fact. You can really see the affects of the deprivation in interpersonal interactions when you're a few months into winter. All Minnesotans do is complain and try to defend their state, I'm not saying it's a terrible place, but there are terrible things about it. If you can't see that then your perspective has not been expanded enough. We all get used to our environment and accept it as "normal." Minnesotans can't seem to wrap their heads around that concept. It's like you're personally insulting them when you say anything critical at all about it. Minnesota has lots of natural beauty and good values and I do like some things about the culture. Ultimately it's not the place for me and I'm much happier not being there.
I was born and raised in Minnesota. I love it here, physically. The beauty of the landscape is second to none. But, and this is a big but, the way this state is run now is absolute garbage. Taxes are out of control, cities burn and no one is held accountable and the divide between the haves and the have nots is only getting bigger. Two people working full time earning well over the poverty line barely get by. It’s bad enough that we are done with Minnesota. We are actively trying to move and know where we belong. It is far, far away from where I am now. And I cannot wait for the day I see Minnesota in my rear view.
As someone very familiar with Bemidji I find some of your facts to be quite inaccurate. Not sure where your crime stats are coming from and are they per capita. Every business in town is hiring and there is money to be made if you actually work…
Agreed. I graduated from BSU. The income figures are skewed because you have BSU, over 6000 students, and Northwest Tech College. College kids don't make much money.
I am originally from Minnesota, and now live in Arizona. I lived in Brooklyn center for many years and was never a victim of any crime or anything. And wasn't worried about that anyway because I was a member of the Golden glove boxing club and a local kickboxing club. As a side note the 50s grill is totally awesome-best place ever to eat in a true 1950s setting.👍
Brooklyn Center started going downhill big in the 70's and is really ghetto these days. It has even gotten bad in Brooklyn Park. Obviously you haven't been there in a while.
Born and raised in the Twin Cities suburbs. Lived in Minneapolis for 5 years before moving to Boston for 3 years, then Denver for 2. Couldn't wait to move back. Been back here since 2006, and don't plan to move again (unless I can afford a second home somewhere warm in the winter someday). Cost of living, access to amenities, natural beauty, friendly neighbors... All far outweigh the negatives in society plaguing the entire country right now. MN for the win! (Except in sports...)
As a Minnesotan who's lived here all their life I'll tell you that I do, in fact love this state, and I love my city of Minneapolis, though crime is high residents still want to defund the police which doesn't make sense, because I live in one of the nicest neighborhoods in the city and I still hear street racing and gunshots a couple times a month in the spring and summer so I can't imagine what it's like in the most dangerous neighborhoods, it's been bad since the riots, I felt like Minneapolis fell apart during that time and it's continuing to stay fallen apart, but other than that we have good schools, there's a lot of active stuff to do, we have plenty of lakes, it's pretty easy to get around on bike in this city, and not to mention we have a lot other things to do, and it has my favorite skyline the US. A lot of this is pretty accurate though, I wasn't surprised to see places like Brooklyn Center, Virginia, and even Minneapolis.
"Defund" the police was simply a word that the Antifa activists used that was more palatable of a word for the general public than what they really wanted to say, which was "ABOLISH the police." I really wish they would abolish the police in MPLS. It would be an interesting experiment to see waif-like social workers who look like delicate 98-pound white flowers show up to calm down a 250-pound somebody hyped up on PCP with a knife, like like that guy Ronald Davis a few years back. A very interesting experiment for urban lakeside "compassionate" types, indeed.
I personally think police are useless. I've gone through my fair share of experiences which is why I think that. The rest is just based off videos I have watched where they get away with so much and of course nothing gets done. I'm sure there's some police men that do their job correctly and are literally there to serve and protect but the rest just fucks it up. Maybe if they defund the police in a city where crime is high then good people would actually take matters into their own and get their point across. But who knows I can be wrong.
I believe you about the rioting. I've driven bus here for 30 years, so I know what it was, and what it has become. Failed leadership had really destroyed this state. Oh, and the weird defund crap. This City was great up until 2 years and 9 months ago.
@@pineappledoesbelongonpizza9975 That's fair, you have a reason instead of jumping on the ACAB bandwagon like I've seen people do before and I believe you, of course there are bad and useless cops in America and two examples have been right here in Minneapolis and Brooklyn Center, Derek Chauvin and Kim Potter but there are also good cops, I know a few police officers and state troopers personally and they also think there are bad cops but they don't think all cops are bad either, places like St. Louis and Camden have defunded their police and crime skyrocketed, I'm not saying that people in the communities can't help stop crime but I just think, personally that police are needed to prevent crime, I respect your opinion though
@@mlovmo I agree, an experiment to see how social workers would handle a 250 pound guy on strong drugs with a weapon would be interesting, because drugs can do crazy things, a person that's high as all hell can take like 15 bullets before going down, so I don't know how a social worker would handle that, I think that social workers could be valuable assets to police departments, for stuff like mental health calls where a person is about to kill themselves, but a social worker trying to de-escalate an active shooter situation, especially a mass shooting is just a mess waiting to happen
I feel like people don't understand that Minneapolis has been like, more or less segregated for YEARS. We're kind of just seeing the repercussions of it.
Yeah you aren’t going to any that here. That requires nuanced and digging deeper. Easier to just to make a video and let people all post the same thing about how it’s “wokism” or immigrants who supposedly ruined everything.
The loss of mining and log/lumber industries have decimated these small towns on the range. Once you cut the trees and empty the mines, there's not many jobs.
As a life long resident as of 2 years ago, now part time, I can attest to the degradarion of the city of Minneapolis. We used to spend a fair amount of time in the downtown area for concerts, sports & restaurants, however the past 2 decades has seen a decline in the most important aspect... SAFETY. Crime is unteathered and out of control. Steer clear.
Lived in St. Paul for 18 years, worked in St. Paul and Minneapolis. It went from an okay area to live to being terrible. Crime increased a lot, the property taxes became outrageous, The roadwork was laughably bad (potholes or orange signs were your options, the vikings are a worthless drain on our economy (thanks for forcing your entertainment costs on non-football fans through sales taxes), the public transit is horrible (inefficient expensive and dangerous), and the cost of living was getting too high. The biking, running, and parks are good. I loved running on the river. Once we moved out in 2019, we would never return. If it wasn't for the airport, our car would never go within the twin cities.
Angeleno & former Mpls resident here. I lived in Mpls in the late 80s and it has grown from what I remember. It reminds me of a little Chicago now. But in all seriousness these towns are nothing compared to crazy L.A. esp. South Central, Watts, Compton, Downtown L.A. and East Los
I've lived in 6 out of the 10 places mentioned in this video. Currently in Saint Paul, and yes it had its fair share of Crazies, mainly if you live further East within the city, because that's where it gets a bit more dangerous when it comes to bodily harm on an individual.
The northwest part of St. Paul through University Ave. (Frogtown, Midway area) sucks too. Macalester and Highland Park are about the best areas of the St. Paul. I currently live south of the city in Eagan, and Eagan/Rosemount/Apply Valley/Lakeville is my favorite area of the Twin Cities. A lot less traffic than the southwest metro, and you are close to everything. Very nice neighborhoods, crime is very low and the school district is one of the best in the state (196).
I'm surprised Willmar is not on the list ,I moved to Willmar in 2007 and it use to be a quiet town with nice chill neighborhoods i use to deliver newspapers in the early mornings and hear nothing but birds now you hear gun shots and tire squeals and the main apartment building in town use to house people with disabilities but now it only houses people with drug addictions like its so bad they had to build a project turnabout building right across the street lmao
It's like it is here in Minnesota because the housing cost verses section 8. They make it easy to live with low income but hard to not use the services.
My hometown of Hibbing should have been mentioned. My car was broken into twice in my driveway plus all the retail left the city 20 years ago due to Walmart coming in
Minnesota needs leaders with a spine. I’ve lived here all my life and watched the city of Minneapolis (murderapolis) go from bad to worse. It’s so sad that leaders watch it happen and don’t do anything about it. It’s catch and release.
Minneapolis is "going downhill" and "a lot of people are moving out," but at the same time "affordability is becoming a problem." Affordability is a problem because there isn't enough housing for all the people who want to move here. It doesn't really follow your narrative.
Shouldn't have housed so many Somalis. Let other states do their part too. I understand they are fleeing a war-torn nation but still you have to take care of Americans too.
I would have to disagree with your comments on Minneapolis Nick. The city is very much recovering from the riots. While yes crime has risen, this is a trend across all major cities in the US. There continues to be redevelopment all throughout the city to accommodate people moving here. This includes redevelopment of the areas most affected by the riots.
@@dfoolz exactly, lived here for the past two years and the people that have negative opinions of the city live in the burbs and rely solely on the news.
@@dfoolz Beauty is in the eye of the Beholder, I remember seeing the trashy slums of Bamako, Mali, but the Africans living there gave off the impression they were the happiest humans on Earth.
Plus the narrative that we destroyed our own city is wrong. It was people from outside the city & from other states. If police would stop murdering there would be very little protests.
I’m a Minnesotan and I’ve accually been to many of the pictures you’ve shown on their like the Albert Lee Apple Bees, the Virginia Main Street, a drive through of the Albert Lee Main Street, the Brainard Main Street, the Paul Bunyan in Bemiji and Brainard, that intersection in Minneapolis and through the neighborhood that had the riot. Im a true Minnesotan, a proud Minnesotan, and I know a lot about my home state.
I lived in Minnesota for 11 years of my youth, and know/remember magical Downtown Minneapolis. I'm deeply saddened to see what became of it. Now, I'll tell ya, I've never seen a Minnesotan do anything like that - I don't think the rioters were locals at all. That was like a cause celeb that the city and state did not need that attracted trouble-makers from other cities like perhaps Philadelphia or Baltimore. It is healthy to have a national conversation about this, but it must be civil, humane and dignified.
Great video. As a life long resident of the state I felt the description here was accurate. Most of the places are great(minus the extremely cold winters) but there are definitely bad areas, as in all states

Unemployment is not a handout, we pay into it. A lot of people aren't working because the jobs that are hiring are not paying a living wage. There are also other social safety nets to help those in need. The Iron Range is struggling because of the lack of jobs. Drug addiction is definitely something that needs to be addressed everywhere. It needs to be treated as the disease it is. It is important to improve education and decrease poverty. Minnesota is a beautiful state but like anywhere else there is room for improvement. I live in Minneapolis and love it. The murder of George Floyd was devastating, hopefully there will be some change of substance to move us forward.
Yeah, this guy doesn’t really know what he’s talking about. I live in wsp and it took me like 4 months to find work that wasn’t gig jobs like DoorDash and clearing out driveways. Never took unemployment cause I thought to myself that it wouldn’t take that long to find work, but turns out that there wasn’t a whole lot of work that I was qualified for around here. Had to stoop to working at dominos as an insider because my car stopped working.

Not sure but the correlation is there...School was excellent for me there and that seems to have been neglected as well since my time...In any case lots of pluses to living in Minnesota in spite of the negatives you point out...I'd move back in a heartbeat...Cheers from Dave in Dubai (for the moment) 👍😎👍

All the towns you mentioned use to be nice towns no drug abuse, everyone worked & all the students had goals to graduate from high school & some went to college. It is so sad to see how they are falling on hard times. Thanks for the vlog. Great information. Drugs are the downfall of many a town or city.

My parents are from Bemidji, MN and Virginia, MN... They moved to TX 25 yrs ago because of the lack of jobs in northern MN and the winters. We spent summers in Bemidji and Virginia which was the best arrangement, I think. MN summers are idyllic and beautiful. But I'm thankful for the opportunities I've had in TX. I'm living in a medium sized TX city and have more education/employment opportunities compared with my family in Northern MN.

@Kamala 2024 Not NEARLY as glad as I am that you didn't come with. You can keep your lockdowns, mandates, riots, high taxes and even higher crime rates. I'll take living in freedom and peace, with law and order. Then we can both be happy.
Be careful with that machete if you're in Austin MN , cops just murdered a guy outside a Kwik Trip for having one about a month ago . Right in front of a lady and her two young daughters . Didn't even bother to clear the area before he started firing , and also was shooting in the direction of the building , which had customers and employees inside . No rioting though so I guess it doesn't qualify to make this list as a bad place to live .

I used to live in Hibbing MN which is right next to Virginia and I liked Virginia but both places used to be nicer, and have suffered in recent years of lost businesses, less jobs and lowered population. I then lived in St Paul which I actually really liked but yes there’s crime. I go to Minneapolis all the time and after 2020, it’s not alright. Not anymore. It was a wonderful city in the 90s. Then I moved to right on the border of N mpls/ Brooklyn Center and honestly I have never seen a crime happen around here. The residents near me are all elders and good people. No one has robbed us. The only thing I noticed about Brooklyn Center is public transit is horrible and there’s not enough businesses within walking distance. I don’t know about the schools because I don’t have children. one of my friends lives in Bemidji. She has never been the victim of crime there. She doesn’t like it a lot it’s small and not a lot to do. The weather is horrific there. It’s terrible here too however and I have no car.
I broke down and relocated back to my old neighborhood in Brooklyn Center a couple of weeks ago due to a job offer. Brooklyn Center is home, warts and all... It's very, very quiet here in my neighborhood. A lot quieter than it was 8 years ago when I lived here last. I'm probably not very far from you :)

Aw, I live in #5 and there's a picture near my neighborhood! I still love it though. A few corrections: 1. There's just one national park (Voyageurs, plus two national forests), not five. 2. Mall of America is the largest mall in the US, but there are several bigger ones in Asia. 3. Fargo is set largely in Brainerd, not Bemidji. I totally get mixing those up. I'm quite liberal myself, but I think that Minnesota has a more down-to-earth version of "wokeness"; no one is too isolated from the other side of the spectrum. Minnesota liberals love their guns, and Minnesota conservatives love their unions.
There are crimes in every city all over the USA. I have lived in St. Paul for 29 years and I can say that it is safe compared to other big cities with higher crime rates. Some of St. Paul isn't great but overall I wouldn't knock it off the list to not move here. There are jobs, opportunities and resources here. Not to mention it is peaceful here, you just have to move to the right areas.
When it comes to the reasons of St. Cloud declining, most of the older long-term residence will blame people migrating from Chicago or the Somali immigrants. That’s just the way it is.
as a foreigner watching your channel, sometimes I get an impression that America is the worst place to live in right now, is it really that bad? it feels like I would get jumped any second there.
For the most part the criminal element keeps to its self. Other than wandering into bad parts of any big city you pretty much have to go looking for trouble to find it.
It honestly depends on area. Im not gunna say that there isnt horrible people here and it’s definitely not its greatest rn but as long as you stay aware of yourself and surroundings you should be just fine ❤️

Sorry if I am late to this discussion. What exactly was the criteria for this list? I understand that economically depressed rural communities have lots of problems, but I don't understand how places like St. Cloud and Albert Lea can be on this list but Duluth is not.
I am surprised St. Cloud was so high up on the list. I pegged that shit hole for being number two. Sad because I went to the university there, but man it has really gone downhill in the past 20 years.
Taught in West St Paul, lived in 4 places in Minneapolis, took my kids swimming at the nice pool in Waite Park. a lot of things I love and miss about Minneapolis. Yes, some huge problems but it's not all bad for most people living there.
@@genox3636 Not sure what you are insinuating but my comment was intended to highlight the positive things about Minneapolis and West St Paul...that it was overall a fine place...'overall'...'most people'...as opposed to the negative bias of the video (from a youtuber who has likely never lived or worked in these places like I have).
When I heard reeling out the stats about the number of dropouts and illiteracy I was wowed. These are schools people in Nigeria will die for if they can attend.
I'm a Minnesotan and I don't love my state. I could understand if someone said they loved Minnesota pre 2020, I would have at the time, however Minnesota is in a death spiral. Minnesota's politicians are implementing policies that are the same ones killing states like NY and CA. So even if you live in the sticks and don't vote for the woke politicians like me you are still being affected by the state wide shitty policies and laws. I'm leaving MN this year and can't wait to put this state in the rear view mirror. Good luck to you die hard Minnesotans.
I am in New Zealand, and nearly moved to Minneapolis when C broke out. Q: The welfare statistics you keep referring to; do they include old age pensions from the State? Because if they do then some of the cheaper towns might just be full of retiree's. Interested to see how bad it really is.
I moved from los angeles to minneapolis.. crime is about 10 % of california big cities.. you have to understand people im here is scared because 10 years go i was no body living here.. in the past years it went from a small citi to a big city is not bad tho compared to chicago, Ny or los angeles
You are correct. Alot of the smaller towns are retirees (especially up north and west) with mining pensions (which have probably been reduced since they shut down - bankrupt, whatever), farmers on Social Security. Everything they own is paid for, so they are doing fine. There are some small towns (mostly with meat processing plants that the companies have brought in illegals) that have some crime. For most part - take this video with a grain a salt (meaning it is mostly not true).
I also wondered if he meant cash welfare or also included SNAP (food stamps) and Medicaid and our own health program, MNCare. MN has higher income limits for food and health programs than some other states, because we want people to eat and be healthy. So many of the people he's counting are probably working. The wages in the small towns are not as high as the cities. I'd look most at the unemployment rate.
Brainerd? Pfft. I don't know what statistic site you are using, but this is the central hub to where people go to vacation. The business owners are cheap arses and don't pay their workers livable wages. It's far from crime-ridden though. N. Minneapolis, that's a different story. People do ride-by robbery on bicycles there.
I live in pelican rapids minasota and it is a town of 2464 people and it is one of the nicest community’s around hardly ever people getting robed hell we can leave our door unlocked when we are sleeping we don’t lock are cars or anything and no one ever gets robed me and my family went up to miniapolos for about a day or two and are car got robed
Basically raised in Albert Lea and finally moved out of there last year when I could. Absolutely hated living there, not much diversity. Currently living in Rochester (mostly known for Mayo Clinic) and not tired of it here yet! The cities aren't too far away and same with Wisconsin.
I moved here in 2013 and I hate it. We lived in Minneapolis and it was horrible. I got married to a Minnesotan so I guess I got stuck here lol looking forward to moving elsewhere….
Once again Nick, you did it again! You hit the nail right on the head with this video. This is coming from someone born & raised in Minnesota. I still call Minnesota home. I am surprised International Falls did not make the list. Fun fact, as a 90s kid growing up in Burnsville, a third tier suburb south of Minneapolis, the "City of Lakes," actually had a running nickname: Murderapolis. The name was derived from the Chicago Crime Wave that swept into the city as rival gangs from the Windy City relocated to Minneapolis to overwhelm an already underfunded police department underequipped to handle a massive surge in gang violence. Unfortunately, Minneapolis has not come too far since the 90s in managing violent gang activity & street crime. The aftermath of the George Floyd Riots made everything worse & the vibe on the street is things have crossed a point of no return; this mentality is especially true on the Minneapolis northside. I actually lived in the Longfellow neighborhood in Minneapolis between 2014 to 2016 & things were borderline even then. As you pointed out, North Minneapolis is a dump & little has changed since the 90s despite some nominal demographic improvements here & there. There was a massive campaign to rebuild downtown Minneapolis beginning in 2013 when Metrodome Stadium was torn down to make way for US Bank Stadium, particularly throughout downtown east, but what began as an ambitious urban redevelopment project came to a crashing halt when the pandemic arrived. Construction is coming back, but at a crawl. You see, Minneapolis City Council members are more interested in attending solidarity rallies at homeless tent cities throughout the inner city before getting demolished rather than working to create actual real world solutions to long term problems like the drug, crime, & homelessness epidemic. They are more interested in their self-serving "woke ideology" where they join the sufferers in their suffering rather than aiding them in finding solutions to things like urban blight & decay. Minneapolitans still struggle reconciling themselves with the fact the Twin Cities no longer consists of two big small towns. In Minnesota, we talk big, but act & think small. Maybe that is one of the reasons why we keep rebuilding highways every decade or so to the tune of their original design & specifications while minimally factoring projected growth estimates to new road construction? Time again, we have failed to factor in long term growth as a major American metropolitan area. The fact is this: cities worldwide do two things: they either grow or decline.
Bruh you literally have no idea what you are talking about 🤣🤣🤣 you must be a republican huh…to sit up here and blame Chicago for the crime in Minn. smfh
@@mustafamawla219 Keywords, "90s crime wave." Keep fighting the power bro. Let's presume for the sake of argument I was a Republican, is there anything wrong with that? Or should people be denied a platform simply because they do not share your worldview? You can have your cancel culture.
Im not surprised to see that Brooklyn Center made the list but i thought for sure that Robbinsdale would have made the list also. It was BAD years ago when I lived in the Mpls. area and I'm sure its only gotten worse since then. Ive been living in the Tampa Bay area for 30+ years now and I see a lot of similarities between here and what the Twin Cities used to be. Instead of Mpls/St. Paul we have Tampa/ St. Pete. I like to say its the Cities here except with palm trees. We have 3 pro sports teams and a lot of very nice museums and 3 world class performing Arts theatres so there is always a ton of stuff to do and the best thing is its like an "endless summer" here which really works for me. :-)
@@googpix540 Crystal is bad now too? I had an Uncle that lived there for a few years several years ago.. At the time it was very "suburban" and not a lot of crime that I remember hearing about.
Be cautious with the terms that you use for crime. A robbery is a violent crime, not a property crime. Robbery is when someone uses force to steal something, for example using a knife to steal a purse off of someone. Robberies are very rare. Theft is common, which is when someone simply steals something that is owned by someone else without using force against that person.
I've lived in both Minneapolis and St. Paul. I personally love it here in Minnesota! It makes me sad to think this is how people outside of the twin cities view them. Yes, both Minneapolis and St. Paul have their fare share of issues and crime, they're large cities after all, but genuinely I don't think it isn't anything they can't come back from. If you live here, you know there are so many wonderful people who call the twin cities home who care about the communities here and are willing to put in the work to continue to make Minneapolis and St. Paul amazing places to call home. Looking at statistics may make them seem frightening, but I promise you, they are beautiful and enjoyable places to live. There are people here who really care for these cities and want to make them safer and overall improve the quality of life for everyone. As someone who was born and raised in a city that has suffered from low city budgets, crime, and corruption, the twin cities are nothing. Don't be frightened away by the media, if you are genuinely interested in moving to the twin cities, I encourage you to do it.
I live in Minnesota, the cities have there plus's, but ultimately, they have just some of the sketchiest stuff I've ever seen. I've seen people getting mugged as I'm driving down the street. I always try to avoid the cities whenever possible.

My GF lives in St.Paul and I in Minneapolis. I enjoy both cities and winters suck in general. 2023/24 no snow much though!
I might qualify the statement of Minneapolis being a place you would never want to move to in Minnesota given that it’s still the employment hub of the state.

Totally agree. IDK what it is about St. Cloud but that town is just depressing as hell.

It's so weird that I literally recognize where some of those street view pictures are exactly, like I could drive there without a GPS.
I feel like people don't understand that Minneapolis has been like, more or less segregated for YEARS. We're kind of just seeing the repercussions of it.

My hometown of Hibbing should have been mentioned. My car was broken into twice in my driveway plus all the retail left the city 20 years ago due to Walmart coming in
Agreed Live in Hibbing myself
I went to tech school in Hibbing in the 80's. VERY depressing place back then. IDK how it is now, I left in 85 and swore I'd never return lol
Had a GF from Kelly Lake area , loved going to Hibbing that was before any Wally World though.
Minnesota needs leaders with a spine. I’ve lived here all my life and watched the city of Minneapolis (murderapolis) go from bad to worse. It’s so sad that leaders watch it happen and don’t do anything about it. It’s catch and release.
To prevent crime you need to curb it before it’s done- how so? Investing in the communities that are disadvantaged
Stop voting demacrat! DUH!
Just saying: when there’s job opportunities and people without a job still don’t want to get one there’s probably a good reason
True, real estate hasn't been affected much in the Minneapolis market......will there be a correction? Let's see.
Didn't recover fast enough. Already moved to florida. Have fun in somalia.

I grew up in International Falls, right on the Canadian border...That whole northern region of the state has dealt with a lot of economic blows over the past 4 decades but the people stoically deal with it and carry on...Personally I joined the Army at 17 (actually left for basic training at 18) and have been an expat since (now 65)...Still love the MN area though and visit whenever possible...It seems that the divide between high earners and low or non earners has widened and that is causing the crime and drug abuse increases? Not sure but the correlation is there...School was excellent for me there and that seems to have been neglected as well since my time...In any case lots of pluses to living in Minnesota in spite of the negatives you point out...I'd move back in a heartbeat...Cheers from Dave in Dubai (for the moment) 👍😎👍

People do ride-by robbery on bicycles there.

where are you from?
Most of my family moved out of Minneapolis years ago. Do not blame anyone.
That was actually a fair assessment. But the Western suburbs where I live are increasingly simply out of reach now.
Looks like 400,000 dollars would go very far for a nice single family home, how is that "out of reach"?

I always try to avoid the cities whenever possible.
dont worry we love minnesots
You know we people like these kind of videos! HAHA! Love the song! Thanks, Nick!
Spent time in Minneapolis. Great people. I enjoyed the sports and the downtown.
I've lived in wait park for just over a year for a small town I can say this place is a shit hole.everything he said is true.planning on moving out of here
Minneapolis has gotten horrible, The crime is unchecked. I hear gunshots almost every night, I think its people shooting guns down on the trails along the Mississippi River.
I've lived here for 10 years - it SUCKS. I'll be moving ASAP!
